The best dentistry in Toronto! Dr. Mahan Alavi was knowledgeable and patiently explained everything to me. The comprehensive exam was great as I had not been to the dentist in a while and Dr. Alavi thoroughly explained all my options with helpful tips on how to care for my teeth! I'm a university student and I appreciated how the front desk staff submitted the claims to the insurance on my behalf. All in all, it was a great and seamless experience and Dentistry on King is now my go-to dental clinic for my dental care.

Dr. Cheng is very thorough and great at answering my questions. He is committed to making your visit great. His staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only thing I would say is that not all the assistants are great at cleaning teeth. I had one great one and another one that left me in a lot of pain. So, try to stick to the good ones and switch to someone else if you have a bad experience. Also, you have to pay up front and get reimbursed by your insurance.

I was very nervous about the few dental procedures that I had been putting off. Having shopped around and even been seconds before starting a RCT procedure elsewhere, I backed out and finally found the right Dentist in Toronto. Dr. Cheng is a no bs, straight to the point dentist who will give you a clear and concise picture of what needs to be done and how it will be done. His experience in the matter shows. The staff are extremely friendly and will remember you if you're late! Haha. Wonderful office and I'll definitely be returning.

I have visited Dentistry on King for over 15 years and always had great experience. The office is clean and modern and the staff are always cheerful, friendly, and accommodating. Dr. Cheng is also very passionate about his practice. When you ask him questions, he is always able to give you very thorough and knowledgeable answers. He also takes courses and goes on training frequently to ensure he is always up to date with his profession. He also shows great care and provides good value for his patients. For example, he not only does your fillings the right way but also takes the extra time to make sure they look very natural. I have had filling procedure done by Dr. Cheng from over 10 years and they are still working great and I can't even tell just by looking which teeth had fillings done. I have had other procedures like root canal done and they have all gone very smoothly. After Dr. Cheng became my Dentist, I have never looked back. I know my dental care is in good hands with him.

I am in my eighties and have had experience with a good many dentists over the years. Most of them were very good. However I can say without hesitation that Dr Cheng is easily the best dentist we have ever had. He is a true professional and regards dentistry as his "calling" and not just a job. His technical skills are superb and he often takes extra time in order to achieve his definition of "perfection". He has a caring, gentle approach and his patient's comfort is alway his first priority. Although he is an experienced practitioner, in order to stay at the forefront of his profession he regularly enrols in and teaches at professional development seminars. He has surrounded himself with an excellent staff who make his office a happy place to visit. I particularly appreciate his approach which is to establish a plan of dental care and not just dental repair. This man is good!

This dental office is conveniently located in the downtown area and has been a life-saver for me! Dr Cheng takes a lot of care to assess and advise you on a personalized approach to your dental care. How often you should have cleaning done, what prevention you can do for gum disease, which teeth are at risk and what can be done to protect them. I've had several dentists in my lifetime, but these folks take the most care and consideration to communicate and advise on the best approach. Sometimes, you have to decide based on your budget, but even then they will support you in your decision. The fillings and crowns they have done for me have been amazing!

I was so impressed with everyone from Natasha at the front desk (who is both knowledgeable and very helpful), right through to Dr. Chen himself, that I decided to make them my regular Dental Clinic. Right at that first visit Dr. Chen sat with me and talked about what was happening with my teeth and improvements I could make myself at home. I have since had a cleaning there, the hygienist did an excellent and thorough job. I've also had to have some other dental work by Dr. Chen. I've been a patient of Dr. Cheng for close to 30 years now; him and his staff have always given excellent care. They are very responsive, they listen to one's concerns, they always try to ensure that you get the best possible patient experience. Today when I came in a bit early for my apppoitment, I was seen within 5 mins (they are respectful of your time). During the procedure Dr. Cheng asked "how does it feel?" and I answered " it feels different, like the left side of my tongue feels crowded" and he worked on my tooth to ensure that I went away feeling good and highly satisfied. I've been with Dr. Cheng for about 4 years now and I have no complains. He's excellent, always worried about keeping the patient comfortable, always asking if he's causing too much pain so he can slow down. You can tell his knowledge is sharp too when he explains the pros and cons of every procedure and you can tell he'd rather give you the best treatment possible and not just go for your money. He even gave me extra special treatment when I mentioned I didn't like regular dental impressions and would prefer digital impressions. He went out of his way to get the digital impressions machine sooner for me. I can't say enough good things about him, he's the dentist you want :) Oh! and I love his staff! The admins were very nice to interact with, and filling out my health/dental forms digitally and emailing them ahead of time was more efficient than most health/dental offices I've visited in the past. I've been going to Dentisty on King for years, and they've always been my first choice for cleanings, checkups, and other dental operations (chipped teeth, extractions, braces etc) The staff is always pleasant and accommodating to any requests. Previously came from the NHS but this was a whole different experience, after my first consultation we discussed a plan to sort my dental hygiene, fix cavities, sort out gum reduction and fix a crown that I had from years ago that didn't fit in my mouth well. Dr. Cheng and his staff are very friendly and professional. Dr. Cheng is always up-to-date with the latest techniques and he truly invests a lot of his time and care to all his patients. He is meticulous and expects only the best out of himself. I have been his patient for over 18 years and since then, he has helped me with my receding gum line by doing tissue grafts. As a result, my teeth is no longer sensitive to cold or hot drinks. He also did a bite adjustment for me - I can't believe that after 17 years of wearing a niteguard that I no longer need to since I don't grind my teeth at night anymore and my jaw feels so relaxed and pain-free!

CAN I GIVE 6 STARS?!!! I LOVE going to the Dentist and finding a good one is damn near impossible. So much in fact that I would commute to Brampton after moving to Toronto, for 5 years to stay loyal to my amazing Dentist but commuting back and forth from Toronto and having my old Dentist tightening their business hours, made this trek a logistics nightmare to eventually becoming impossible. I canvassed Dentists across Toronto and have even gone to many of them for my dental services but I was very disappointed and highly discouraged when I couldn't find anyone comparable to my old Dentist in Brampton. However, I came across Dentistry on King in my Google search and of course I read the reviews and was floored at so many of the positive reviews. I took the plunge and I am so happy that I did! First, their staff is not only friendly but they are also very well organized. They communicate regularly with the Dentist so they're always "in the loop", so when I have certain questions about my services, they're usually very quick to answer. When they're unsure or need to clarify, I'm always provided a very prompt response, either in person, by phone, email or even text messages. They are always jovial, welcoming and I'm always chuckling on my way in and on my way out of their office--typically a difficult task to be laughing after getting a very intrusive dental service but it happens each and every time without fail. That said, I have to mention that their office is also highly technologically progressive. In an age where everyone uses their mobiles for calls, emails and texts, Dentistry on King utilizes all of these in order to maintain proactive communication with their clients. To be honest, my amazing Dentist in Brampton didn't even have these types of services, which in hindsight, felt a little disappointed. When taking photos and X-rays, they are highly advanced by leaps and bounds than any other office I've been to. Not only does Dr. Chen review my x-rays with me but he also takes very clear, high definition photos where I can see exactly what he sees and when explaining certain processes, issues and areas of concern, I'm not having to interpret abstract explanations via an x-ray alone. I can see into my mouth as he sees it and he even zooms in on my teeth, gums, etc. where I've never had this option before and honestly continue to feel like I've been missing out as I experience these new things that I never have when going to the dentist. I have to say Dr. David Chen is not only highly skilled dentist but he is very down to earth and very easy to talk to. He explains things in great or small detail, however much information you need or want. I'm someone who likes things explained in great technical detail and it doesn't discourage or even phase Dr. Chen as he makes the time to help me understand and appreciate every services we need to go through. Even when applying freezing to begin our services, Dr. Chen will apologize over and over and OVER again, ensuring my comfort and apologizing for the pinching of the needle. He then explains to me about the freezing process, how much they just used and why. I have to say that I have finally found my new Dentist that I struggled to find for many years. If I'm nodding off during a root canal, I think that that in itself should be a testament to amount of care, attention to detail and patience of Dr. Chen and his team. I am someone who doesn't advocate lightly, as I know how important it is for others, of whom like me, rely highly on these reviews to determine if they too should take the plunge and change Dentists but I do not have enough words to express my positive experiences. That said, I cannot speak any more highly of Dr. Chen and his staff and would encourage anyone looking for a new Dentist in Toronto's downtown core to go in for a service and like me, you may find yourself with a totally new dentist!

By far the best dental experience I've had in my life. Dr. Cheng and his staff are truly caring, patient and willing to explain everything that is going on. He had to re-do a cracked filling I had done in a different dentistry. I didn't feel a thing, not even the freezing injection as they use a topic to numb the gum first (how thoughtful). Afterwards, he walked me throught the before and after images of the work he had done. When the freezing wore off I was pleasantly surprised to notice that I had no discomfort in my bite, as I was expecting for the filling to not be as even as before, but it was. It felt like nothing ever happened! I am for sure making Dr. Cheng my dentist moving forward. Thank you for such a professional treatment.

I have been waiting to write a review that is honest and trustworthy for other potential patients of Dentistry on King because I wanted ensure the compassionate care I received here was consistent. I must say every single visit I have had has been absolutely wonderful. I will start off by saying that Dr.Alavi shows that he cares about his clients health and well-being. My first appointment at Dentistry on King was due to a mobile tooth I was in a panic and very distressed Dr.Alavi and the dental assistant were so patient and kind. I didn't feel judged or pressured to do anything I didn't want to do. The dental assistant was so kind she greeted me warmly and always asked me if I was okay during x-rays and told me to take my time. The receptionists Adrienne and Norie have been far more than accommodating as I have rescheduled two appointments for an earlier date and they immediately rescheduled for me. For example I had an appointment to splint my tooth for Thursday and they got me in on Monday. For a dental exam I went to Dr.Alavi's office and he explained everything in detail and even provided me with a pamphlet that contained valuable information about acidic food, toothbrushes and mouthwashes- I was quite impressed! He answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. If you are an individual who gets anxious and nervous about dental care I can honestly say that Dr.Alavi and his professional team will make you feel welcomed and safe. It can be challenging to find a dentist who truly cares - Dr.Alavi and his team have consistently shown they care and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. I have dental clinics right by my house but would rather commute and go to Dentistry on King because it is worth it! I highly recommend Dentistry on King you won't be disappointed.Thank you Dr.Alavi and team for your professional and compassionate approach! I will keep coming back and also suggest you do too!

I had an excellent experience with this Dental Office. I work in medicine and thus have a high standard for who I choose to look after my personal health. I have had recurring dental issues since I was a child that I been reading/studying/consulting on in order to get to the root of the issue (pun intended). This is the first dental office and dentist (Dr. Mahan Alavi) that took the time to answer questions, discuss my dental issues/lifestyle/diet etc and take time afterwards to explain everything surrounding his initial assessment. I’m lucky to have benefits through work but I would recommend this dentist to everyone as it is worth the investment to prevent further issues down the road. Dr. Alavi is humble yet confident and is genuinely interested in bettering himself as a clinician by reviewing the emerging science on holistic dentistry that considers the effects of diet/lifestyle/sleep on oral health. I will be returning for regular checkups at this office and will be recommending them to my friends and family in the area.

Dr. Cheng is great! I had issue with one of the molars and wasn't able to chew on one side of the teeth for over a year. After visiting Dr. Cheng, rather than jumping into a root canal (like other dentist I've talked to), he used a conservative approach and did a bite adjustment instead. This was my first time being treated by Dr. Alvai. It was the best experience that I have ever had in a dentistry office. Dr. Alavi is knowledgeable and professional, and the treatment while in the chair went quite smoothly. I found I could trust him to recommend the right solution and not push me for overtreatment, as is the case in some dental offices. He took time to hear all my concerns, explained the options thoroughly, and ultimately performed the treatment efficiently and professionally. One of my fillings was quite deep and large, and a day or two later, Dr. Alavi sent me a message to see if my teeth were feeling sensitive or if I had any pain. I didn't have any problems after the procedure, but it was quite refreshing that Dr. Alvai took the time to follow up with a patient to make sure that everything was going well. I will definitely use Dr. Alavi again and strongly recommend him and his office to anyone needing dentistry.

I had a wisdom teeth extraction consultation here a few years ago. The doctor recommended general anesthesia and pushed hard for it. I wasn’t scared of dental work and my teeth weren’t particularly problematic. He also recommended that I only got two of the teeth extracted. I ended up seeing two other specialists elsewhere. Both of them pointed out that there was overcrowding with my other wisdom teeth, and the surrounding teeth were already suffering as a result. Additionally they both said local freezing was fine. I don’t know much about dentistry. But I think the fact that the doctor didn’t even present the options for anesthesia or explain the differences is not okay. As for the overcrowding issue, it could be that he didn’t think it was serious enough. But then again he didn’t bother pointing it out and simply said I didn’t need to worry about the other two for now.

I wish I can give Dr. Cheng and his staff more than 5 stars! My experience at Dentistry on King has been perfect since I first visited Dr. Cheng's office more than 17-18 years ago. Dr. Cheng and his entire staff (Natasha, Hazel, Monina) cared about my dental health since the beginning. They were patient with my questions and they always made sure that I get the best treatment. Dr. Cheng did my veneers more than more than 15-17 years ago and they still look very good. Recently, I had jaw problems due to stress (many of my back teeth had been reduced in size due to my clenching) and Dr. Cheng devised a long-term plan and solution for me. He doesn't just think of short term solutions (that fix the aesthetics only) but he cared about my long-term dental health and welbeing. Further, Dr. Cheng respects what I want to attain (a more beautiful smile and a pain free bite) and works together with me to figure out the best strategies that work for me. He also educates me on how to maintain my dental health on my own as well (from daily brushing to what foods to avoid). Indeed, Dr. Cheng is by far the best (because he cares and listens), most dedicated (he continues to study the newest technologies and techniques and knowledge in Dentistry), and most caring dentist that I have ever had. David Cheng and his staff do great work. I have only been twice but I found that they were on time both times. First visit was for a crown. They did the prep, milled the crown on premise and I left with the crown in my mouth. All in about three hours. Pretty impressive. Second visit was to repair a crown put in by another dentist. All have not done the second visit yet but my mouth was prepared and a temporary crown put in place. All pain free both times. They have current dental imaging technology. It is impressive. All in all - a good experience.

Upon relocating to Canada, a friend of mine recommended me to Dr Cheng. The first time I met him he literally mentioned that my teeth had issues everywhere while I bercer ever had any other dentists mentioning that. It proved out it was an overblown scare tactic as I followed up and went to see dental specialists that said everything was fine. The cake Dr Alavi, nice person but very bad dentist. After putting a crown on my upper front tooth he said I should get veneers on all 4 front upper tooth. Rather surprised I went to see the best prosthodontist in Toronto, Dr Haddad, who said my teeth are in really good shape and I should do nothing than a whitening and wait a few months to see if my dead tooth would stay good as is. It did. Last but not least, after putting in the crown Dr Alavi said he could put a new permanent retainer. Naively I trusted him and thought maybe dentist do that in Canada and not just orthodontist. What a mistake! He did it so poorly than a huge gap between my 2 front upper teeth appeared. I went to see orthodontist Dr James Noble who said he hadn’t seen such a poor job at putting a retainer and miraculously managed to fix the damages caused by Dr Alavi. I complained several times to Dentistry on King and they ultimately offered to reimburse me for the cost do the retainer… until they saw I left for another dental practice. As such they haven’t signed their side of the NDA and never paid which is ultimately better as I can say how really bad a dentist he is. Avoid dentistry on king! They don’t have as m’a au customers as pre pandemic and try to make as much money by doing useless and poor dental procedures. I now have a fantastic dentist, Dr Lisa Chong, and could only advise you one thing: stay AWAY from Dentistry on King!

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience. I went here more than 1 month ago, I had a root canal done. The doctor's assistant was not knowledgeable, after trying multiple times to get an X-ray she had to call someone else to do it, the steps that I had to follow and what to expect after the procedure was not clear (the doctor had left, I asked the assistant if I should keep taking the antibiotics prescribed, she said that she ask but I never received an answer). I had huge pain after the procedure. After 2 days all my left side got numb (cheek, lip, eye, nose and ear). I called the doctor's office to ask if this is normal and to ask for advice. I was told by the receptionist that the doctor said that it's to early for him to put a diagnose and to keep taking the antibiotics and he will follow up with me in a few days. More than 1 month passed and nobody called to check. I still feel pain occasionally. This is not the first root canal that I had done. This never happened before. I was very happy to find a clinic that it's working on Saturdays' close to my house but all the pain that follow after made me reconsider. I do not recommend.

I have been going to Dr. Cheng now for a few years after being referred to him from a friend. I moved here from out west and had no dentist, I have been going for routine cleanings and his staff was great for every appointment. I just finished getting veneers on my two front teeth, the experience was great and I am extremely happy with the final result. The price was as expected there was no surprising charges, the timeline was outlined and followed through, not to mention they were able to fit me in a short time period prior to a wedding. I would recommend Dr. Cheng and his staff for anyone in the downtown core that needs a dentist.

Dr.Mahan Alavi and his staff were amazing and quickly fixed my cavities without any problems. As soon as you walk in , the friendly staff make you feel comfortable and make sure all the COVID precautions are taken for your safety . The freezing was completely painless and the dentist was very gentle and caring , constantly checking up to make sure I am comftrable during the procedure. I would highly recommend Dr. Cheng! Right upon meeting him, you can tell he is very down to earth, attentive, and professional. He takes his time to sit with you, understand your concerns, and thoroughly explain the process of what can be done 1:1 - he even breaks down the science of it. He has a separate consultation office where you can review your before/after pictures and x-rays in detail which I appreciated as not many dentists involve you in the process in such depth. He also has a lot of technology in house which is quick and convenient (I.e. custom teeth whitening trays, and he even makes 3D mock ups for bonding). You can sense him and his team have passion for what they do as they are highly detail oriented and will take their time to ensure they are completing quality work always. Dr. Cheng makes sure that your smile looks as perfect and as natural as possible before you leave and that you are happy - no matter how long it takes. I completed a bonding procedure and Dr. Cheng took his time to intricately build the anatomy of the tooth until we were both happy! He is also very patient and gentle during painful procedures (I.e. freezing injections) - I’ve never had a needle or overall dental work that was virtually painless! Him and his staff are very courteous and kind - they truly know how to value their patients and make you feel welcomed and accommodated. The office atmosphere is very positive and professional. Overall, I am extremely happy with my experience and that I found this clinic :) Do not hesitate to book an appointment!

My dentist retired and that office was far away, so when looking for a dentist downtown, Dr Alavi is a safe choice. It is admirable that Dr Alavi did not criticize nor did he slightly damage with mere routine investigation any of my previous dental work - by mistake or in order to suggest and aim for unnecessary replacement, like every other dentist that I visited before him did. I found Dr Alavi to be very smart, compassionate and knowledgeable. He is interested in finding what works best for you and to carefully assess that possibility. Personal background: I have an INSANE fear of the dentist – to the point where I cry for teeth cleanings. Just being in dentist offices make me panic and feel extreme nauseous. Dentist experience: I recently had to get a serious extraction of an infected tooth, including a bone graft because the infection was deteriorating the bone in the surrounding area. I googled for dentist offices downtown Toronto that specialize in dental anxiety. Dr. Cheng's office was one of the top 3 that came up (and I liked their website). From the beginning Dr. Cheng made it clear this was going to be a complicated procedure, however from the initial check-up to post surgery I felt so comfortable. The team at Dentistry on King is so professional, welcoming, personable – I oddly felt very comfortable in their office which is extremely rare for me to experience. Something I also liked is they quoted my surgery and sedation, however in the end the sedation time ended up being 1/2 of what they expected because the surgery went so smoothly. I know I have a few more procedures in the future and I won't hesitate to have them done with Dr. David Cheng! Thanks Dentistry on King!

I'd give them Zero Stars. Went in for a cleaning they preformed unnecessary x-rays after telling them I just had updated x-rays a month prior. Also the cleaning performed was a joke! Not only did they not give me a mouth wash before entering my mouth they also didn't floss my teeth during this cleaning. Dr Cheema also chipped one of my teeth while he was scrapping my teeth. I emailed them after this and said I wouldn't be returning and voiced my concerns about my visit, only to not get any response back. Poor service. Went to another practice and got my teeth cleaned properly by a dental hygienist. Witch Dr Cheema is not! These other reviews are highly questionable in my opinion.

Truly amazing experience. I have been avoiding going to the dentist for the past 4 years because, like most people, I am terrified of them. My memories have been nothing but bad. I found Dentistry on King via Google maps, and between reading the reviews and browsing the website, my nerves had already calmed. I went in for a check up and a cleaning and just had a very nice experience. Dr. Cheng is so knowledgeable and understanding with his patients. Him and his peers all made sure that I was comfortable at all times and worked around my personal quirks. He even sat me down in his office and explained what was going on in my mouth, with all of my teeth, and what I should do to make it better and to prevent the same issues from happening. It was pretty inspiring. I've never been so excited to take care of my teeth before! I also want to mention Tatiana, a hygienist, who cleaned my teeth and also catered to my needs. He makes choice based on research and best care for his clients - truly understanding that best practice for all is not universal for each distinct child and case.
