I've been going here for years. My whole family of 6 did too. Everyone but me left because they all experienced something bad... either lack of care, recurring financial errors to insurance, or other. With me, I stuck around. I have to say, I've only had great experiences with Dr. Yen and Carly... but the office in general has provided poor service. For example, at my annual clean, I mentioned something to do with my jaw clicking. Dr. Stankovan was called in to look at my jaw... the interaction lasted no more than 5 minutes for a "consultation". I was surprised to be charged a hefty fee for this at the end of my appointment. I figured it was standard and bit the fee, but ultimately they should have warned me about the charge since really, no work was done on me. This has happened in the past regarding X-Rays they tell me they need to take to update my profile. I am always unaware of these charges until after the fact. Some transparency would be nice. What shocked me most was yesterday when I went into the office and asked the receptionist for a toothbrush, informing her I don't have an appointment booked until my insurance calendar year renews, but that I am indeed a patient... and one that has been long-standing. The receptionist said no, I couldn't have a toothbrush, and that they would only give me a toothbrush at my next appointment despite them knowing I am a patient. I re-iterated that I was a patient, and they said it didn't matter and that they wouldn't give me a toothbrush... and that the receptionist hadn't experienced this request from anyone in the past and they would not be able to budge on giving me a free toothbrush unless I had an appointment. This is when it dawned on me that they really don't care about the health of my teeth. If they did, they would have been more than happy to provide me a cost-insignificant toothbrush in preparation for an upcoming appointment for a patient who they'd told many times in the past (when there was money to be transacted) they care for the upkeep of her dental health. Too money-oriented with a lack of care for the health and wellbeing of their clients. Such a shame... I'll be moving elsewhere after this last straw.

They were quick, courteous, professional, and exact in their treatment. I came in with a pain deep in the root of one of my front teeth, the x-ray showed nothing so the dentist did her digging and figured it was an abscess, which is solved by a root canal if bad enough, but she prescribed some mouth wash and antibiotics and a week later it was fine. P.S.: If you feel a pain in your gums beneath your teeth, get it checked.

I had an extremely unpleasant and stressful experience with Dr Yen at Mayfair Dental Clinic. Dental visits cause me anxiety at the best of time, and due to his actions, my anxiety has significantly increased. In my opinion, he has no patience, empathy or understanding for patients with questions or concerns, or may be nervous, and should not be working with patients. He did not provide me with the information to make an informed decision for an urgent procedure. Following my panic attack at the dental office (for which I was left in the waiting room while having the panic attack around other patients, and told “You will be fine” when I clearly was not), I was referred to a oral surgeon. The oral surgeon advised the procedure was complicated and should not have been attempted at the dental office. The potential complications were clear to the oral surgeon, as he took the time to actually fully examine the x-rays and explain the procedure to me, including the potential issues. I am terrified to even think of what would have happened if the procedure had been attempted at the dental office. Not only were the actions of Dr Yen unacceptable, I was left feeling embarrassed and humiliated as the staff did not offer me any privacy while I was having the panic attack. I provided the dental office with an email describing my distressing experience and how it has affected me. The office has had several business days in which to acknowledge or respond; however, I have not received any acknowledgement. This reflects poorly on Dr. Yen and the entire dental office. Based on my opinion and personal experience, I will encourage everyone – current or potential patients – to look elsewhere for their dental care. The entire disastrous experience and lack of acknowledgement of my concerns has left me with an opinion of little confidence in Dr. Yen and Mayfair Dental Clinic, and served to significantly increase my dental anxiety. If you value your dental health and safety, my opinion is to avoid Dr. Yen in particular, and Mayfair Dental in general if this practice is their standard of care.

Dr. Yen is a fantastic dentist. The hygienists and other staff are also great. They even call me the day after appointments to make sure I'm doing alright. They are always friendly and efficient, and their hours are excellent. I would highly recommended them to anyone needing a dentist in Victoria!

Dr. Sandridge and Darlene completed my root canal yesterday and I cannot say enough great things about my experience with them. I was very nervous about getting it done as I'm not good with pain and it was my first major procedure/surgery of any kind! Both Darlene and the Dr. Made feel so comfortable and that I was in great hands. During the procedure they asked me many times if I was doing ok, not just waiting for me to say something. They also talked to me and didn't act like I was just a slab of meat sitting on they're table. Even though I was so nervous of the pain, Dr.Sandridge did AMAZING job of making my root canal pain free. Again I can't say enough good things about both of them! If I need any dental work from now on I will be going with Dr.s' team! Thanks you so much for making this an experience I'll look back on with a smile and not another bad dental experience!

I have not been to the dentist since 2004 and had a super experience yesterday at Mayfair dental. As I fear the dentist and really would rather never go, it was very difficult to even get up the courage to go. I was not the easiest for the staff to deal with (very sorry) but they all treated me amazingly and caring and with patience. I thank the staff of Dr. Stankoven (receptionist) and Beverley (Dental assistant) and of corse the super caring treatment from Dr. Stankoven. Wow I did it ! - Only because all of you caring. These people are amazing. I knocked my front two teeth out and as someone who prides themselves on appearance i was pretty devastated to say the least. I called so many dentists and no one had the time of day for me. They got me in and stay after close to rebuild my teeth. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for Dr. Fung and her lovely assistant. I am truly grateful.

Although Dr.Yen has never engaged in a conversation with me, he always done his work well. The staff there are very friendly and courteous. Why do I give 4 stars and not 5, the reason is because after getting my fillings, Dr Yen did not take the time to explain to me about the after care and what I was to expect. I had to google why my fillings still hurting me, instead of my doctor taking the time to explain that to me. I had to find out from online to stay away from sweets, cold and hot drinks for about a week.That’s why iam giving 4 stars out of 5. Please take the time to inform your patients instead of running off. Take the time to ask them if they have any questions or concerns.

Dr. Jose Tubio did an excellent and painless root canal on an upper molar for me. This tooth had been bothering me for at least a year and then the filling fell out and my whole jaw on the right side was hurting. I was on pain killers and it was keeping me up at night. No pain since the root canal, wasn't even sore when the freezing wore off. What a relief in so many ways. I highly recommend him and this dental clinic.

Dr. Standrich (sp.?) is an excellent and very gentle dentist. I would highly recommend her to anyone and especially those with dental anxiety. She goes to great lengths to make you comfortable and has a fun sense of humour.

Spent over 10 grand and had the worst time I will never step foot in this office again. The dentist are money grabbing and will fix your tooth 6 times and just pull it after you spent at least 1 grand and still charge you to pull the tooth. Save your money for dentures because that's what you will get in the end. Find a dentist who cares not a company that just wants money. Learnt from my biggest mistake. Going to Mayfair dental in the may fair mall in Victoria bc canada. I would have a car if I didn't go here. But I am sure the dentist who work there can afford nails and make up.aand a BMW. They all wear makeup nice nails and looks like they eat well. And all have Starbucks in front of them.

Both myself and son have recently been to the clinic my son had his first root canal done by doctor Yen and in my sons words that was easier then the cleaning.. I had the opportunity in having Dr.Sandridge do my fillings.. I have to say its one of the better experiences at the dentist in a while, reception was respectful not to go over limits.. For the past 4 years i received birthday emails from you and everytime I've called or emailed to get me off the list but every year i receive another email. Who gave you permission to sent me emails no one asked me when i ONCE visited. If i were to walk in none of you would be able to tell who i am nor my birth date. You're not my friends nor my family; you're a Dental centre. So you sent out an automated email and call it caring? Wow that's oh so very shallow and fake. I've asked to be deleted multiple times and you're failure to do so only shows your lack of respect and unprofessionalism. Next year it won't be a phone call your gonna receive but an harrassment lawsuit. Don't bother looking me up its not the email i gave you but i already called yesterday so hopefully you actually took me off this time.

Have had great experiences every time, everyone is friendly and professional. However, I'm extremely pleased with the receptionist, Christina! She has made our experience more hassle free and convenient. She will always try her best to fit you in, send you reminders, and basically take care of your family's dental health. I've never had such a personal touch from other dentist before. Overall, great atmosphere, friendly staff :)

Do not go here. My mother went for work on a painful tooth. They did not properly inform her on options. They did a root canal, gave her pain meds. After pain meds ended, her pain was stillbad so dr. Yen did another root canal. They did not properly cushion her face when completing the work. She now has severe nerve issues in her face, increasing pain everyday that won't stop an has a collapse on the jaw side. Dr yen should be ashamed.
