Not sure about the other negative reviews, but I went to Hillside Mall for my first check up in years and needed three fillings, which were done for around $1k. One of the fillings was heavily bugging me so I went to these guys in James Bay and was well taken care of. Sadly, the three fillings I had done at Hillside now all need to be replaced (about two years later, but the initial one was bugging me one year in). I’m pretty annoyed at the office at Hillside as their team wasn’t even very kind, and the dentist didn’t seem too confident. I haven't had any issues with James Bay Dental so, I mean, give them a shot.

Worst dentist ever. Couldn't even do routine fillings ( which they recommended I get replaced.) Last year I had to go 4 times to redo the same filling, and this year I went almost half dozen times for one routine filling. My teeth weren't even bugging me, but now it's been over 3 months since I can eat anything on the left side of my mouth. These guys are real quacks and I wouldn't let them touch your mouth with a 10 foot pole. Find a dentist that can do the job right the first time...or at least the second time. If you're not afraid of dentists you will be, when you finish with these guys.

Clean and modest dental clinic. I had a couple cavities that needed filling - I've had a few bad freezing experiences in the past - but during my appointments at James Bay Dental, I didn't even feel the needle - furthermore, Dr. Vorobyev is thorough with his work. Front staff is professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Hygenist and assistants are great and made me feel comfortable - I highly recommend James Bay Dental if you are looking for dentist!

New to Victoria, I came to James Bay Dental for the first time today for a cleaning ONLY. Routine bi-yearly appointment. My experience was fantastic. I booked my appointment with Alison's help, one of the receptionists there. Her responses to my e-mails were fast and friendly. Our correspondence alone made me happy to try a new dentist office! In terms of Covid safety protocol, I felt very safe and comfortable. They limit three patients to the waiting room area so no one is crowded. The receptionists work behind plexiglass and disinfect the check-in iPad before passing it off to patients to use. They are clearly aware of keeping distance. Shout out to SATHIA - DREAM DENTAL HYGENIST! I was blown away by how kind and gentle she was! She listened to my concerns and to what I needed from the visit and executed exactly that. No pain! I would highly recommend requesting Sathia for your dental cleaning. I did not have to meet with a dentist for the purposes of my visit, but loved my experience with the front desk ladies and Sathia!

Dean Stelmaschuk and his staff have provided for my dental needs for about 20 years. I recommend him frequently. He has done root canals, gold crowns, remediation of botched work from another dentist, routine maintenance, and hygiene. He responded rapidly on a Saturday morning when I was in excruciating pain. He listens to and respects what I tell him about needs!

I come to James Bay Dental regularly for cleaning and dental work, and the service I receive is nothing but wonderful! I have seen three different hygienists so far and they were all friendly and consistent. The front desk ladies are so nice and I usually get nervous when it comes to dental appointments but their relaxed vibe is totally helpful. My dentist, Dr. Gennia is very calm and professional. I have seen him for my wisdom teeth extractions, fillings/inlays, root canal, and now getting my teeth straightened with a clear line. Gennia is honest and straightforward, and I have never had issues with all the dental work he's done. As a matter of fact, he openly discusses my dental treatment plan that works best for me, which I appreciate it because I found my previous dentists to just recommend treatment that are not necessary or required. This office is very busy but they are accommodating with scheduling all my appointments. Once I had to go in for an emergency root canal and they were so flexible that took me in during their lunch time! Also, this office is clean and well-kept. I have nothing but great things to say and I highly recommend this place.

Very poor scheduling. Best to self diagnose your tooth issues and research your own options If its a serious dental problem. You could be charged way more than necessary for 2 or more visits to take care of the problem that should be ready to deal with on your first visit. Having to come back could mean needing to go to anouther doctor for pain $$$$$ Medications $$$$$ Call around there's most likely a dentist ready for your dental problems and can do your Xray, cleaning, and actual tooth work all in 1 easy friendly visit!

Horrible dentist, shouldn't even be in practice. They messed up a simple filling and had to go to another dentist to fix their mistakes. I thought the whole idea of going to a dentist was to help you, not give you more pain than when you started ! I guess if you like to be in pain and waste money on procedures that actually damage your teeth, than yeah, go ahead and try this place ! I can't believe there are dentists this bad in Victoria.

WONDERFUL staff, great office. My daughter (now 11 years old) had always been fearful of the dentist since she was 4. We switched over to James Bay Dental last year and it was the first time I had ever seen a hygienist make her feel at ease and Dr. Vorobyev communicates with her so well. I'm very pleased with our new dentist.

I was in the office for a Dental Cleaning ~ normally after the cleaning a dental check is done. However Gennnia Vorobyev used a dental instrument ~ like a crowbar ~ to Painfully pick at an old dental filling ~ with enough pressure to actually rip out part of the old filling... A Real dentist would have made a dental appointment for me to do a procedure to remove the old filling and replace with a new filling. Now I'm walking around with a partial filling and everything hurts, brushing my teeth eating anything... I went in today and got my 20 years of files with Dean Stemaschuk and will be looking for a Dentist that is conscious AND competent. The new owner Gennia Vorobyev is a menace to 20th century dentistry Bonnie Hardy

I have been coming to James Bay Dental and seeing Dr. Vorobyev for over a year and could not be happier. He takes the time to explain everything and is very knowledgeable. The staff is extremely professional and the dental care is exceptional in every regard from routine cleaning to more complicated procedures. Would highly recommend. One of the best dentists in Victoria!
