EDIT: Just had work done with Dr. Chiang and her lovely assistant (I'm so sorry to forget her name). I'm re-reviewing to 5/5 from 2/5 stars. The work carried out by these two is incredible. I felt no pain, no issues, reduced anxiety, relaxed, and cared about. The office manager addressed previous issues whilst on site. I really appreciated the follow up discussion. 1st Review: I have not attended the dentist for a number of years due to my phobia. To start with the positive, all the ladies on reception, Dr "C" and the hygienist I saw were very kind and thoughtful regarding my fear, and caring when I got upset. After the initial appointment I felt better about future dental appointments. I had to have one broken tooth and one wisdom tooth removed. It was the worst experience I've ever had. I was given lorazepam prior to the appointment. I was "given" nitrous oxide during the procedure along with a local anesthetic. I do not believe the nitrous oxide was provided, but I was still charged for it. I was told to take deep breaths and relax. The mask kept sucking inwards and it felt like there was no gas flow. I asked to stop, and said multiple times that it was not working and got more and more distressed. The Dr. (NOT Dr. "C") and his assistant got more visibly irritated and kept telling me to just relax and stood staring at me while I was sobbing. My tooth snapped and I was told it was my own fault due to the cavity, which I can appreciate but maybe there was no need to pile on more distress. Towards the end of the procedure someone came to tell the doctor his next patient had arrived. The end of the appointment felt rushed and I was left feeling like I was a huge inconvenience. It was an incredibly distressing experience. I am a registered healthcare worker and I know how drugs work and I know this is NOT how you treat a patient. If you need to have a tooth removed, I would not recommend this place at all.

I used to go here for years but never again. First, I want to say that I second Ann Hart's review wholeheartedly. I told them that I have serious anxiety about medical procedures. The dentist rushed through the freezing and after telling him twice that I could still feel everything it triggered a massive panic attack. The dentist and the assistant just sat there awkwardly as I was sobbing. When I finally calmed down enough to continue, someone came to tell the dentist that his next appointment was there already and he finished the second filling in less than five minutes and rushed me out the door. The filling, needless to say, was not level and caused me pain. I had to go back and he said, "Don't worry, I won't charge you." Yeah, of course you're not going to charge me -- the filling was rushed and incorrect in the first place! The filling is still not correct but I'm shopping for a new dentist. I was honest when they called me with a follow-up and I told them my concerns. The receptionist asked if it was okay if the office manager called me to follow up. I said yes. I never received any such phone call. Clearly it's not a concern to them. In summary, anxiety in dentistry patients is common enough that there should be better protocol in dealing with it. Positive ratings are not everything -- make sure you take a good look at the negative ones before you consider this office. There are so many options out there.

Dr. Pawan Nyachhyon and his assistant made sure I was comfortable and calm by consistently reassuring me before starting. I expressed my anxieties about getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed and he promised me I would feel no pain- he was right! I must admit I am a bit of a germaphobe so cleanliness is a huge deal to me. I have been going to this office for the past year and half and I have to give them credit because the cleanliness in the office has always exceeded my standards of clean. From the front reception area to the inside of the office, the chairs, the carpet at reception, overall decor-I pay attention to all and I give them two thumbs up. The office is big and they have about 6 staff at the front desk which I like so I'm not waiting around to be attended to and staff are friendly. However the hygienist there is the one I have most interactions with and she is AMAZING. She really gets in there and takes great care of my teeth which I appreciate. She also gives me advice about caring for my teeth in general without making me uncomfortable or insecure. I see the hygienist for a cleaning every 6 months and I mentioned something to her during my last visit and she remembered it 6 months later which I thought was very kind. Its the little things that I appreciate the most. I'm a happy patient at this clinic.

If u have nervous issues or other medical conditions, that affect how you should get your treatment, it's pretty much ignored. They just do what they want, and if u have a gag reflux, nervous issue, other medical conditions there isn't much care about that, and they just try to barrel through your treatment without the consideration you need. If something happened they just stopped and sat on their stool and waited staring at the ceiling. The hygienist also does what she wants even though I told her certain medical related things don't work for me. Office staff have messed up about...5 times? There are better clinics I think.

I would not recommend this clinic , my family and I had been going here for a few years because they had late hours and direct billing. But it seemed every visit we would have 4 or 5 cavities to fill. Let me be clear I’m 37 and havnt had a cavity since I was 12. After the third or fourth visit of continually being told more and more work would have to be done. I realized something was fishy. I would call it benefit gouging trying to make as much money as possible. I recently switched after being told my daughter had 4 more cavities for a second opinion and I wasn’t shocked to find out my daughter had no cavities at all. Also work that had been done I found as painful as any dentist I’ve ever been. And also rushed. I will say their front staff is friendly and their teeth cleaners were good But as far as the dentist goes and pushing procedures that don’t need to be done. You lost my business Do not recommend if you value your teeth.

I would never return to this dental service provider ever again! I did request my files to be submitted to the new potential service provider however the receptionist curtis did not complete the requested task. In regards to the work I have received on my teeth there, I disliked the dentist verma, she was very aggressive and was not gentle at all. With westmount trying to squeeze $600+ out of my for my other tooth extraction I totally avoided going there for the fact of paying out of pocket when I am covered via benefits and full Treaty Status. I did however find a professional dental service provider and will never ever be returning to westmount dental again. I do require my files though, so I shall be calling or stopping in soon to retrieve my information. Worst dental experience ever!!!

This dentist's office is your standard cash grab, attempting to get as much money from insurance as they can without doing good quality work. My family has had many poor experiences with them, from rushing work and fillings falling out, to receptionists attempting to book us for procedures not covered by our insurance (which they knew). The last straw was when the dentist I was seeing for a cleaning decided it'd be a good idea to fill one of my cavities without my father's knowledge or consent(I was a young teen at the time). Ended up having to stop because I couldn't get the needle (they hadn't offered numbing cream) and they were causing me pain. Turns out they'd drilled a giant hole in my tooth. The dentist got frustrated with me, and as I had a panic attack and sobbed in the chair, they were extremely rude to me and told me to suck it up and get it over with. I told them I couldn't, so they put some paste in the hole and went and told my Dad to take me home, that they would be referring me to a pediatric dentist. The paste was a temporary solution that had completely fallen out after a week, and they didn't offer to refill the tooth while we were waiting for the referral. So I was left with a gaping hole that I had to carefully clean out with a sterilized needle every time I ate. Was like this for months until my referral went through. My family left the practice, and my amazing new peds dentist offered to take my whole family on as patients. He's allowed me to deal with my phobia on my own terms, and I'm very grateful to have one good thing come out of this awful experience.

I used to enjoy (even though I have a dentist fear) going here. The hygienist have always been awesome and Dr Oko always set me at ease. My last visit was very unpleasant for a wisdom tooth extraction. The new dentist put the temporary freezing in and then seconds later used the needle. It was very aggressive and it all felt very rushed. Very little care was given and after 10 years, I'll be looking for a new dentist. Dr. Nyachhyon, please treat people like people and not a task.

Do not go here !!. I went to a Dentist they just let go for incompetent work !. He removed a tooth that should not have and left a piece i removed myself 2 weeks later !. Then he did the wrong procedure to repair a cavity an now i am going to lose the tooth an an implant is $4500.00 and completely their fault . They did not offer compensation or repair...

Phoned to make my son an emergency appointment as his tooth pain is preventing him from eating or drinking. He's 6 years old. I was told "We can make an appointment for him to be looked at but not to have it repaired". After I explained again that it's serious and why, she says "oohh okay sorry about that".. with absolutely no concern in her voice - just snobbiness. Thanks westmount! My son has been crying all night.. he cries when he drinks water, he cries when he eats soup. It absolutely breaks my heart. I'm able to see the cavity with my naked eye. He can't wait two more days! It takes half hour to fill it. If you have half hour to "look" at it, then why not fix it?! Now I have to travel to a further location that actually cares about children with no vehicle when this clinic is across the street from me. If I could give a negative star rating I would. Another dentist will help my baby sleep tonight without pain and a tummy full of food.

It is rare that I compliment dentists and dental offices. In a course of my life, I’ve seen a few and I found every dentist professional, they know what they’re doing and staff is generally pleasant. But I love my dentist at Westmount dental for showing empathy and presenting all treatment options available. Their staff is more than accommodating; they understand insurance companies and helped me get services approved that were previously declined in another office. Their hours work with my schedule and they are amazing at reminding me when I’m due for my next check up. I’ve seen two of their hygienists, and it’s impossible to choose one over the other. Highly recommend this office. You’re always welcomed with a smile. Five stars from the first call to the check out!

STAY AWAY I went here after chemo when I had to have most of my teeth removed, I went here for the extractions. They messed up and I now have TMJ and arthritis in my jaw. I have lived in pain because they did not do there job. I told everyone that I had a problem with my jaw and they ignored me. So I have migraines and jaw pain often.

I had a great experience here! The staff were really friendly. My daughter (who is 4) was scared at first, but the dentist and hygienist made her comfortable, even when she had to have a filling done and get a needle! It went really well! I would/will highly recommend this place.

Ana the dental hygienist was super! I had a black line on my tooth for years that no other hygienist or dentist could remove (or didnt care to) and she did. She's very thorough and even took my blood pressure cuz I guess they're suppose to. My teeth totally looked clean, and didn't just feel clean. I could see the difference in the mirror. She was also very gentle. I've never had a better experience! Dr Oko is very kind and caring. She and her staff have done all that I expected and more for both my son and myself. Although a couple of staff are cranky looking and don't seem like they want to be bothered, most are quite personable and treated me like they truly wanted to help including dealing with my insurance issues.

Amazing service every visit. Tam is my dental hygienist and she has always been very friendly and considerate. Gives good advice on how to clean your teeth in more effective ways at home and uses plenty of freezing gel if any pain is on the horizon. Highly recommend this Dental Centre!

They have always disappointed in regards to fillings....first time...I had to go back 3 times to fix the job they did...I went back again as my usual dentist is retired and was AMAZING...and again....I have to return for tune ups..not cool. The dentists assistant was rude...inconsiderate and basically behaved as tho she hated her job. Would and never will recommend this dentist office.

I had a great experience with the dental assistant but felt like I was being squeezed for all of my money once the dentist came in. I've spent all of my life with little issues with my teeth and all of a sudden I needed 3 extractions and braces at 27 years old. Both appointments I had they did not do a cleaning for some reason even though I had requested it multiple times, and was told its a separate appointment??? I also have received 10+ phone calls from you continuously trying to get me to come back for my extractions in which I will be finding another dentist for a second opinion.

1) POOR QUALITY DENTAL WORK. Not only was I in pain for over 3 months after crown procedure, I continued to have food stuck between my teeth after installed. Needed to go to another dentist to fix. 2) CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS ON ME - TWICE! Showed up, took time off work, and my appointment was cancelled. Unbelievably, this happened twice (out of a total of 6). They second time, I did receive a Tim Hortons card as an apology.

Very nice and newly renovated office. They are open 6 days a week and evening hours which is a big plus. My all family goes there since 2012 and we are very happy. Dr Oko she is wonderful and dedicated dentist. She makes all her patients calm and happy with dental work. I will recomend that place to everyone who is looking for a dentist. Oooo and forgot one more thing: they do direct billing with dental insurance.????????

This clinic is owned by Dr Steve Huk and managed by Chelsea Bay. The clinic is open very long hours The management is very flexible with no shows and last minute cancellations: I no showed 3 times in two months and they still saw me without any penalty. They accept patients with low fee guides such as IA and social services. However, they tend to over diagnose and over treat those patients. I was seen by a dentist a year ago and was told I had 3 cavities. At Westmount, I was shocked to learn I had 8 cavities! Above average staff and dentist turn over.

I went to Westmount Dental to get a tooth fixed. Dr Neha Shipla, the dentist assigned to me, was absolutely fabulous! Her bedside manner is top notch. She determined that I need a root Canal. This made me panic as I have never had one and I am a big dental wimp. Dr Shipla was so kind and compassionate. She prescribed a sedative for my root canal day. I came in an hour early and she monitored me after taking the med. She explained very detailed , each step by step what will happen, from the initial freezing to the end of the procedure. She made sure that my jaw was very frozen and did little tests to ensure. She asked that if I feel pain to just raise my hand up. There was no need as none of the procedure was painful. She encouraged me all the way and told me that I'm doing well. For one part She explained that I would feel bit of pressure and it would take less than a minute. It indeed was less than a minute and it was ok! When she told me we were finished I was shocked because it didn't feel like a long time. She even called me next day to see how I am doing. I am so grateful for such a compassionate and kind dentist. Dr Shipla is now the dentist I will be seeing for my dental needs. Thank you so much! ~Charmaine Nelson

The receptionists are friendly and attentive. They gave me a call when somebody cancels their appointment for me to proceed early for my appointment. The hygienist explained well all the things that I should aware of to prevent my teeth from cavities.

I have had the unfortunate need to see a great many dentists, and none have been as good as Dr. A Fong at westmount dental centre. I had several fillings and it was the least painful, most comfortable and efficient visits I have ever had. I will never go to another dentist willingly. The main staff were friendly and they were excellent with all my needs and direct billing.

Be warned. The high rating they have is due to contests they do to give them high ratings to get a free iPad. They are definitely not as good as they are rated. I went in for some fillings and got slammed with a 500$ bill when I was assured everything was covered by my plan. Will be finding a new dentist that's for sure.

great dental care, my wisdom tooth came and it was hurting so much that I couldn't sleep in nights my appointment was booked for Oct 5th for removal of my wisdom tooth but I called them and explain my situation Emily helped me and booked my appointment very next day in afternoon with doc pavan he was great as well I never got hurt while he was removing my wisdom tooth. all in all great dental care and really good staff.
