Normally I love this dentist, but I recently sent my significant other in to get 3 fillings done. He has a terrible gag reflex and the male dentist was insisting on inserting a dental dam to do the work. After a few attempts he very unprofessionally threw down his tools and left the room where my boyfriend sat with a frozen mouth. I'm not impressed with the professionalism that was given today. The ladies, front desk was all super helpful. Unfortunatley this dentist felt like taking a bad day out on someone who does not so well with dental exams, and cannot have certain objects in his mouth.

This place is unbelievable the best. I had bad dental experiences which made me very afraid if not terrified of dentists. I have been going for the last month to get finally my rotten teeth fix. Dr. Acton is excellent so its Catherine his dental assistant. Thank ti their extraordinary service I finally getting my teeth fix. Adele at the front desk as well very good. This clinic also offers payment plans. They will work with you. According to friends and family that see dentists the prices are also very good. I have nothing but praise for all the staff at this clinic. Thank you to you all. ????

I wish I could say good things, my initial two cleaning sessions were very good, however, things took another turn when I went in for filling, which was a disaster. I went back to have it fixed again, nothing improved, part of the filling started chipping off and it has been unpleasant experience since. I didn’t want to go back for a third time, because of what I went through the second round. The Dentist didn’t seem happy and I had a bad feeling about his work on my teeth. It is over a year now and have lost trust in going to any dentist. I seem to have a phobia for dentists as a result, to bad.

I went to this clinic for a checkup. The Dentist found 2 teeth needed filling. 2nd day the Dentist opened it and told me it will need a root canal. I asked them about the price and didnt get an answers but I had no other choices, I had to accept, My only concern was to fix it not about the cost. On the 3rd day for the final filling, I told the dentist that Iam having a continues pain. He said this is normal!. I had pain with a swelling on my left cheek and left eye for days until half of my tooth got broken and right after the pain disappeared. I went back to the clinic and the dentist said nothing about it. I was polite thinking that (accidents happens and it doesnt mean that the dentist is not experienced, it just happens and so as long as he fixes it then I will not complain). The dentist fixed it immediately, but I had again similar pain only when I eat hard on it. After couple weeks I was out of the province and for few days I had pain again for couple days until one day the filling was broken. I went to another clinic and what I understood the filling was pushing the tooth beside it and thats why got broken. When I came back to AB, I got the bill by mail and I never expected the cost plus I got charged for fixing the broken tooth (358.85$ plus 70.40$ for specific examine)!!! THE TOTAL COST WAS 2343$ 1943.87$ plus 400$ for initial examination. I called the clinic couple times to complain and no body returned my call. If the manager sees my review please to contact me. They all work together to do a very good job. I had no where to keep my kids, all the ladies there helped me watch my kids for 2 hours. Overall, this is the best dental experience I have had and will keep going to this place. weld one Dr Tan and his crew.

l went there to do my teeth cleaning. The wait was minimal, and more importantly, the staff were compassionate and accommodating. I saw Hygienist Krista and she did wonderful job cleaning my teeth. And later I saw Dr. Tan, he was very kind and knowledgable. He gave me tips for how to keep my teeth better. But this place strikes me as an all-around good place to go. All of the receptionists are equally kind and pleasant. Definitely recommend.

I have been going to this clinic since 1999, when the clinic was smaller and inside the southgate mall. I was a patient of Dr. Gabriel initially, but changed to Dr. Tan after having an issue with Dr.Gabriel. I was with Dr. Gabriel for only a few months. Since I and my husband became patients of Dr. Tan, we are not going to any other dental clinic. I am very happy to receive excellent dental care by Dr. Tan since then. He is very professional, kind, gentle and passionate to his patients. Recently, I suffered from sensitive and painful teeth and the clinic give me an appointment very quickly (actually Dr. Tan is fully booked and very hard to get appointment in a short notice). He fixed my sensitive teeth problem right away and I am pain free now. Thank you so much Dr. Tan and Thank you Anu , Janice (Dr. Tan's assistants) for your kindness

I would highly recommend Southgate Dental Centre! I have really enjoyed the service that I get there for many reasons. I found it very easy to make an appointment that fit my schedule and the receptionists are very pleasant and professional. The dental hygienists do an exceptional job and I am very happy with how thorough my teeth cleaning was. I have also gotten cavities filled there. Usually this is not the most pleasant experience but with Dr. Acton it goes by quickly and painlessly.

Calm and practical are thoughts that come to mind after my appointment with Southgate Dental The office is beautiful. Calm. Clean. Organized. The kids awaiting area was tucked away and out of sight. (Which is a plus). Greeted with big smiles and a friendly face from start to finish. They suggested 15 mins early to fill out “new patient” forms. I was maybe 5 mins late and then it took me closer to 30 mins. I move slowly in the morning. Sorry .... anyways we were very behind. But not to worry, stay calm. The hygienist assured all would be fine. When her next appointment arrived she finished the front teeth and explained I may need another appointment to finish the back and polish. She found me an appointment .... wait for it .... later that day. After my time with the dentist. Un-heard of. The dentist was amazing. Hilarious. Making jokes and talking to me about my past medical history. Work. Life. Love. I think I spent 30 mins with her waiting for my XRays from another clinic earlier that year. Let’s not talk about how the other clinic was refusing to send my old XRays. “They literally cost 300$. We will wait” says the dentist. No need to rush or panic. So we waited and talked. Discussed health and dental health. I did end up spending my whole day at the dentist. But it didn’t bother me because it wasn’t really their fault and they were so accommodating. I couldn’t have been happier.

Was charged 150 dollars for xray and 30sec consultation about saving my tooth. They told me to remove it. Got a second opinion and apparently the tooth was worth saving with a root canal. I now saved my tooth and it is super strong with the root canal, soooo glad I didn't listen too southgate dental. Also be careful when they clean your teeth and the amount of bocks they charge. Was told 2 blocks then turned out to be 4

Dr. Gabriel is an excellent dentist. He is fast, efficient, does very good work and is very understanding with nervous patients. He has done a fair bit of work on me (fillings, crowns etc.), all very good. He has a cool machine that makes a crown in one visit using a camera that scans the tooth (no need for doing a mold, or a temporary crown and or a second visit). He and his dental assistant Carrie make a great team. His front desk people are also friendly and helpful especially Carol.

Regrettably the dental work I need to have done w/out dental insurance would bankrupt me utilizing this orgs services. Came here because my family members recommended them. I saw Dr. Kelly Acton for some cavities and needed a teth pulled. They direct bill and can also get insurance pre-approval for anything major. The front staff are very helpful and the Dentist did a great job. I felt no pain and the T.V. in the ceiling is a nice distraction. The RDA, Carmen also kept me informed of everything going on. Will definitely go back.

Went to see Dr. Gabriel on an emergency basis today. The staff (Kaeleen) was super nice and helpful and got me in right away. I found Dr. Gabriel to be very professional and explained everything to me. Since I don't have a dental plan he was very fair with the bill. I will definitely be going back. I would highly recommend Southgate Dental. They treat you like family and are super kind. Breanna and Anu always give a wonderful greeting when you enter, and are very efficient and knowledgeable. Lori and Olga have everything set up when you are in the chair and make the process bearable depending on what is required . Dr. Thakkar is amazing. She will answer any questions you may have, and deal with any concerns. She is meticulous and pays attention to detail to ensure everything is done properly. They are all nice and make the dentist an enjoyable visit.

Clean, receptionists are lovely. Isn’t enough though if the dentist don’t follow through. I had a permanent retainer come loose and had them do basic cement work to fix it. I told her where my retainer belonged, I got told I was wrong, they cemented it in the wrong place after I insisted again and told to come back if I have problems. Now the work is gone because it’s where I bite and if I want it fixed I have to pay the same price for the same work, that wasn’t properly done the first. Thanks.

LOVE the staff at Southgate Dental! Always very friendly and professional, as well as reasonable prices. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Everything is always very clearly explained, and they don't inundate you with suggestions for work to be done that isn't necessary. They tell me what they would recommend doing in the near future but never any pressure from them. I live in Sherwood Park, but the drive is well worth it just to receive the service they provide!

I recently had to change dentists as this place charges way more fees than any other dentist I’ve been to. I’ve always used my insurance everytime I’ve been there, which is supposed to cover 100% cleaning and check up, and had a $100-$200 bill left over after all was done, of course they don’t tell you this before your appointment even though they have to run your insurance through prior to your appointment. The new dentist i started going to recently is completely covered. Will never go here again, complete rip off.

I'm so happy my family found Southgate Dental Centre and Dr Thakkar! We were in a rush to get a lot of work done, as we were losing one benefits package in a months time. Over the last two weeks the center has done X rays, hygienist appointments and dental with Dr Thakkar for myself, my wife and all four of our children. All cavaties have been filled, referals for orthodontist have been made and Invisalign ordered, and all with a couple of weeks to spare - I couldn't possibly have asked for better service. This is the first time in my life that I have recieved fillings which I can honestly say were completely painless,... to the point where I actually fell asleep in the chair during the process on a couple of occasions! My children concur that their work was also entirely pain free. Best of all, Dr Thakkar was able to produce a fantastic cosmetic white filling to fix an unsightly tooth in the middle of my smile, which I have been self concious about for years - So happy with this! All of the staff, dentists and hygenists have been incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating, making all my family feel both welcome and comfortable. The staff offered good advice, with honesty and considered what course of action best suited our situation, without any of the hard sell or pushiness I have experienced elsewhere. I cant say enough good things about this place, it has been a pleasure having them look after my family.

I went in yesterday with significant pain in two of my teeth. Dr. Gabriel and Carrie were fantastic. They took the time to explain what was causing the pain and what could be done about it. They were very patient and helpful. They also started the process of a root canal so that I could have some pain relief right away. Dr. Gabriel has exceptional technique for administering freezing; I barely felt the needles at all. I went in feeling quite miserable and left feeling better than I have in weeks. I'm so grateful to have access to such quality, compassionate dental care.

I have been going Here for Years DR Tan and I heard Dr Grabrial Are very Good I usually have DR Tan and Tia has been a great Asssistant and provides Excellent tips. The people at the frount Desk are very good. The other Lady who worked with DR Tan was good too but miss her but when Tia Came I was very happy with her too who came this year. I do Recommend them and have been the Very Lucky one with No Cavities hardly for a few years.

-The receptionist Charged wrong insurance, didn't correct it. -after tooth cleaning said I had a cavity under a crown and no follow up treatment was planned. **** I'm literally AT A DIFFERENT DENTIST having the same tooth looked at and and in the process getting a new Crown through them, was provided a silver diamine fluoride solution to the affected tooth that cleaned up the Decay and will prevent any further Decay from happening until I get the new Crown out in Westlock Alberta***
