I've always had a bad experience when it came to my teeth, but that was before I found Scotia Square! The staff goes above and beyond to make sure their clients are cared for. Personally I had an emergency come up with my teeth and I was able to be seen that day. The staff really makes you feel like more than just a client. Everything is explained in a way that you'll understand. I highly recommend this office to everyone

We brought our twins to Dr.Evanson upon recommendation of our lactation consultant for frenectomies due to poor latch issues. After the procedure we have seen increased ability in our boys to breastfeed. Dr.Evanson and the staff at Scotia Square Dentistry took the time we needed to explain the procedure and answer our questions about recovery, benefits, and risks. We didn't feel pressured to complete the procedure before it was done and felt well informed about what to expect before having it completed. Staff were welcoming and kind and took time to teach exercises to prevent development of scar tissue and re-attachment which have been successful. The office accommodated our needs and gave us a private place to breastfeed immediately after the procedure. Would highly recommend this office and Dr.Evanson! p.s. bonus - free underground parking is provided

Unless you can walk here I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time. My wife had scheduled a consultation for them to look at our baby for a tongue tie. The receptionist had told her that they only do consultations at 8am so we booked for Friday. They called her on Wednesday to confirm our 8am booking and all was well. Until we drive from the south end of Edmonton up to our 8am appointment only to be called when we’re there paying for parking that we missed our 7:40am appointment and they’d have to reschedule us two weeks later at 8am! The lady that had called my wife was literally the woman that had called her on Wednesday to confirm the 8am. Would not recommend.

Went in for an infant tongue tie assessment. The first person to see us didn't introduce herself and just start talking about post-procedure care then showed us YouTube videos of the assessment. It seemed odd to be given post-procedure instructions when the assessment hadn't been done yet. The dentist then saw us and quickly assessed our baby. We felt that her diagnosis of tongue tie was not clearly explained. She then went on for 15 min talking about how this treatment fixes everything from sleep apnea to not needing braces. When asked about studies that we could read for more information, the dentist only cited a news article from University of British Columbia. No peer-review publications were provided. She mentioned that if we find other studies, we should send those to her. This was unexpected given that clinicians should be up-to-date with the literature, especially if she is an expert in the area. The dentist pulled up x-rays of an adult patient to further explain the effects of tie tongue on the airway. The x-rays contained personal identifiers; clearly a privacy issue. When asked about the varying severity of tongue ties, she googled "tongue tie" and pointed to a few pictures with "100%" or "~50-75%" tongue tie without explaining how the diagnosis was determined. She also expressed her preference to not work with many infants because they can be "distractions" in the office. Finally, the dentist told us a story of the tongue tie she fixed on a "mentally retarded kid or whatever the medical term is for that."

I took My 3 year old to get his teeth clean for the time ever. I was nervous as I heard horror stories with toddlers and teeth cleanings. Arsh did a phenomenal job at creating a safe environment for my son Kai. Kai felt at ease with Arsh, and she worked quick and effectively which made our visit remarkable. Once Dr.Evanson came to check on Kai's teeth, kai got a little shy but Dr.Evanson did a great job at connecting with Kai (talked about paw patrol, and cars etc.) and took a quick peak. He noticed that my very energetic boy chipped his tooth and grinded it down which makes this Mama very happy. Kai's got his nice little smile back, with no tears, and is super excited about his teeth being squeaky clean.

The dentist and dental assistants were professional and made sure to explain the procedure and the after care in a way I could understand as it's not routine for me; the dentist gave me their personal phone number so if I had any questions or concerns I could contact them after hours and then they got back to me right away and they were GREAT with my baby. I Would definitely reccomend them to anyone looking for a tongue and lip tie revision.

Brought our son here to have his tongue and lip tie fixed. Unfortunately, unlike what Dr. Heit mentioned would help with having these clipped, we are 6 months post-op and our son still gags on all solids, has a big gap between his front two teeth. He’s not talking yet, so we will see if he has no speech issues as Dr. Heit also mentioned would be prevented. So far not worth the it as it was a tremendous amount of pain for the little guy where we had to do 6 weeks of stretching of the wounds.

Recently went into see them for the first time as I had not seen a dentist since I was a teenager. The staff were great - to the point and professional. They helped me access my student coverage and plan out some fillings in a timeline that was feasible with my course load and financial situation. Since then I have gone for my first of 4 appointments to get fillings done and the experience was surprisingly pleasant. (Surprising because I am normally terrified of the dentists.) I still think the sound of pneumatic drills are the stuff of nightmares but walking away from this appointment I'm more confident in the health of my teeth and there care than I have been in years. If you're anything like me in being anxious over going in I cannot recommend the team here more - they very much help put me at ease.

I just had wisdom teeth extraction at Scotia Square Dentistry. It was an amazing experience! I was scheduled to have 2 teeth taken out at the same time. Dr. Evanson & Jasmina made this extraction very smooth. They took my concerns seriously and ensure that I did not feel any pain before the extraction took place. I was given clear instructions of the extraction and the after-care procedures by Jasmina. Despite the time waiting for the area to be frozen, it only took a total of 2 mins for Dr. Evanson to take both teeth out! It was extremely fast and I didn’t even have time to worry about it! I have been a patient of Dr Heit’s since the opening of her clinic and have undergone many standard dental as well as more specialized neuromuscular dentistry work in conjunction with orthodontic consultation. The results I have had under her care were amazing and far past what traditional orthodontics promised, saving me multiple tooth removals and jaw surgery. 1) Before I started, I told the coverage of my dental plan, gave them my card. They charged CAD 50.38 more. The billing person replied, I should know my plan before I start. She was rude and she herself does not know the rules. 2) They sent me email 18 minutes before the appointment. Since I had spoken over the phone one day earlier, I came 10 minutes before the appointment time. This dental company is a busy in pocketing money. Never go there again.

Got moved over from R dental where I was extremely happy with my care. I accidentally missed my appointment with Scotia and called as soon as I realized to apologize. The woman working was extremely rude about it, then stated they would have to book my next appointment as two separate appointments because they couldn’t “risk the time”. This was AFTER my first appointment where I showed up and they didn’t have the courtesy to let me know beforehand that the dentist couldn’t be there and I’d have to book a second appointment. Yet I was super nice and agreeable about that. They’ve lost several patients today as my husband and other family will be looking for new dental care. The high costs, rude employees, and double standards aren’t worth it.

I'm usually a nervous wreck when it comes to getting dental work. Even cleanings give me anxiety, but getting my root canal + crown done at Scotia Square Dentistry was a breeze. It only took about 20 minutes, Dr. Heit counted backwards from 10 while she did the freezing (which I didn't feel at all), I listened to a relaxation/meditation CD of a slow heartbeat for the majority of the procedure (which was basically hypnotizing and almost put me to sleep), the dental dam was perfectly placed (I didn't have any problems with water accumulating at the back of my mouth, which is my main source of anxiety at the dentist), they made the crown in house (no temporary crown required), and I got to have lots of breaks in between the steps. Dr. Heit and dental hygienist were not only incredibly efficient, but super friendly and informative too. They walked me through the whole procedure beforehand, kept me up to date during and let me see how the crown is made (a very cool process). I never thought I would say this, like EVER, but that was actually a positive experience. And, for context, I usually Hate going to the dentist. You'd think I was being paid to advertise or something (I'm not), but, if you're looking for a dentist, I highly recommend seeing Dr. Heit at Scotia Square Dentistry. She's the best.

I made the appointment the day before. I had a lot of pain on the left side of my face. Couldn’t sleep the night before, it was agony. My wife had to take me in because I was on pain killers it hurt so badly. I was greated at the front reception area by very pleasant staff. I was asked to sit in the waiting area. Usually that would mean a long wait but I was pleased to be called up within minutes. The staff helped me feel comfortable as I have aways feared going to the dentist. I was given a diagnosis of the problem very quickly and had a root canal done. No pain at all during the procedure. I felt extremely comfortable and was all done in about 45 minutes. I went home and had a two hour nap. I woke up and have zero pain in my jaw. I am so grateful to Dr. Evanson and his staff for helping me have a very pleasant experience at the dentist. I will tell my friends about this experience and will definitely be bringing our 6 kids for all of their dental work in the future. Thanks again Dr. Evanson!!!

I was recommended to see Dr. Heit for my 4yo childs' frenectomy. When I made the appointment I told them his age. We had to go for a consult which cost $90 only to be told that they don't do frenectomies on kids his age. Why did they not tell me that before they took my money?! The doctor also insisted that he get his tonsils removed, even though he's never had an infection. It was a strange, and costly, 20 minutes.

I am very disappointed with Scotia Square Dentistry. I went with my daughter to have a consult for her tongue tie (9 years old). I had an appointment for 12:20, and at 11:30am the receptionist called to say that the doctor was running behind and wouldn't be able to see me. I told them that the nature of my appointment was urgent and they agreed to see my daughter. Later I realized that they tried to cancel because they didn't have time for the lengthy consult that results in a charge of nearly $200. From the minute I walked in, I felt uncomfortable. I was advised that I would need to do a home study, then an hour and a half consult with the dentist ($), followed by four weeks under the care of a physiotherapist ($), then finally the dentist might clip the tongue tie. I will add that the questions in the home study were very basic questions that I could have answered in my sleep about my child. The receptionist also advised that I would need x rays of my child, and when I confirmed that I had updated x rays, she said that they would need x rays of the throat at a cost of again, nearly $200. At one point during my brief meeting with the Dr., I thought I was being punked. The process was completely outrageous and laughable. Even my 9 year old was rolling her eyes and trying to keep a straight face. Even if I wanted to proceed, I wouldn't be able to, because my daughter didn't trust the Dr. I have never seen a professional office try to take advantage of parents like this. All in, this would have cost nearly $1000. I called another office and I will have my daughters tongue tie clipped within 2 days at a cost of $200 all in. Please, please do not attend this office if your child is in dire need of a solution.

I usually don't write reviews until I have actually had the service done, however, this is the one exception I feel I really must make. I have a very severe distrust in conventional dentists. I never got any real level of satisfaction out of my services before, and in fact, have had some moments where I was left feeling like I just got conned out of money and my health. I ended up, since my first bad experience with a dentist, on a very distraught downward spiral with my health, and I am still young! I had enough, so I looked around and did some research. I feel like I took a leap of faith in choosing a dentist I had no personal recommendation for and I am not disappointing. After leaving my exam and consultation, I felt overwhelmingly happy. Dr. Heit and her team go above and beyond to get down to the root cause of issues, including a persons history and lifestyle. She recommended I get tested for sleep apnea, something I would have never considered at all before, and took extra time with me to develop a recovery plan. Here's to hoping that all of this is the answer to my painful prayers. Dr. Heit is no conventional Dentist. She should be the dentist that the industry is modeled after.

My husband had been seeing him, so when our family doctor suspected our baby had a lip and tongue tie, he was an easy choice to make with his extensive knowledge of childhood dental needs. My husband had raved to me about how Dr. Evanson had made him comfortable throughout his normal dental procedures (cavity fillings and the like), and eased a lifelong fear of dentists and needles he had. My 3 day old baby had his tongue and lip tie corrected here. Jasmina, Dr. Evanson's assistant, was very helpful and explained things clearly. The procedure was quick and they let us feed, change and comfort our baby as long as we wanted in the room the procedure was done in. Very kind considering it is somewhat distressing for a parent to care for a newborn in some pain in public. We live 7 hours from Edmonton and the staff were very understanding that we couldn't come for the follow up appt but provided us with a phone number and email that we could use of we had questions during the Christmas holidays while our baby's mouth was healing.
