I've been coming to this location since I was young and was a former patient of Dr. Coward who was very lovelyand the best dentist I've had. The clinic overall is decent and the receptionists and most hygienists (shout out to Jaclyn for being the best!) are quite friendly and kind. However, this clinic could be more mindful when it comes to it's "strong recommendations" for costly dental interventions. I have constantly been ignored when I have mentioned I simply cannot afford invisalign as I'm a young professional working an entry level position and a Masters student. They continue to use the tactic of fear mongering and one dentist when to the extent of 'diagnosing' me with sleep apnea when I brought up that I had started clenching my jaw (likely due to stress/anxiety). It was unprofessional and unethical for a DENTIST to tell me I have sleep apnea when not having access to my full medical history or just making a diagnosis on a whim. It's especially not okay to tell me that sleep apnea will take 10 years off my life ???? I should have wrote this review much sooner, but I'm hoping this review will be taken on feedback to do better and to stop making me feel bad every appointment. Ps. Please don't bother reaching out to me if you want me to change or remove this review. If I feel my feedback has been integrated I will update it myself.

I have been going to this dentist for over 5 years now and have seen it undergo many changes during this time, almost all of which have been for the better - complimentary water, tea and light snacks, as well as WIFI and Netflix in the lobby and operating rooms. Another great addition has been a text message system that sends a text to your phone a couple days prior to your appointment, which serves as a nice reminder. Front desk staff is always very friendly and greets you with a smile. Wait times are always minimal, if at all. Insurance claims are dealt with promptly. My only concern (which is very minor) is that would be nice to see a little bit more consistency between seeing the same hygienists, although this can sometimes be difficult due to clashing schedules. All the hygienists are excellent and do a very thorough job nonetheless. Overall, I've been pleased with my experience here. Keep up the great work!

I can't rave about this office enough. Staff are so friendly, informative and helpful. They explain my dental situation in detail, so I full understand where I'm at. They break down my options for treatment, and there's no guesswork about cost. They present all the options in detail, as well as the cost, so you can make the decision that's best for you. Not only that, but I truly feel valued as a customer. I'm greeted with smiles and they know me by name. Not only that, but they gave me a $10 Starbucks card on my first visit. I've been seeing Dr. Fung and his staff are gems. He himself is experienced and puts me at ease. Who knew two fillings and a crown could actually be enjoyable (and I don't feel judged!)! I know this all sounds over the top, but I've seen some really mediocre practitioners over the years, and I really appreciate Vancouver Dental's attention to detail. Nothing goes unnoticed! As far as what to expect: the building is older so don't expect some fancy, shiny rooms with big TVs but the customer service is excellent. Last thing: so appreciate that they open at 7am to get before work, and they're quick to respond to emails and have great availability

Cannot speak highly enough about all of the staff. Dr. Jones squeezed 10 mins in during his only down time to see me during an emergency. He was quick and comforting with the treatment which ended up being an extraction (toothpull). He froze the pain while he filled his other appointments. While the rest of the staff made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. The cost was less than the quote which was also appreciated. Good people do good work. These are great people.

Differentiation is everything. No matter your line of work or company's core business, you can always create a unique experience for your clients or customers. Vancouver Dental gets it. From the initial phone call to set up my first appointment to the welcoming reception upon arrival; from the friendly and engaging dental assistant to the detailed, educational and helpful explanation of my current situation and requisite dental work provided by the very professional Dr. Vanaki; Vancouver Dental met and exceeded all expectations. Of course, having a 4.8 star rating on Google helped the initial decision making process. Make no mistake: they earned it. While online reviews can sometimes be dubious or misleading, this is something Vancouver Dental, its patients and prospective clients need not be concerned about. Indeed, the service I received deserves 6 out of 5 stars. Yes, I appreciate this is a dental office, not a restaurant or retail store. This is exactly my point: like a fine dining experience or dealing with a terrific sales associate, Vancouver Dental understands it is all about the client or patient, and the experience before, during and, most especially, after their appointment. It's a pity 5 stars is the maximum rating! 10/10

I have been attending this dentist office for 2 years now and have referred both my mother and husband. As my mother, Judy, isn’t able to do a google review, she has requested that I do one on her behalf. She thinks the front desk staff is very friendly as well as everyone else she met on her visits. They are very good at picking an appointment time that works for her, and they also send out reminders which is very helpful as most of us forget. If you’re having any issues then they find a time to take you in right away. She loves going here. Would definitely recommend. My previous review: This dentist office has amazing service and great staff. I've had two hygienists since I've started going here. They are both very friendly and professional. The dentist let's you know what's going on during the procedure which just makes me feel more comfortable. I also recently lost my umbrella and they kindly offered me one since it was pouring outside when I left. I would highly recommend coming to this office!

I just had my appointment at Vancouver Dental and I had a great experience! From the very beginning Vicky, Ellen, and Chelsea were very friendly and made me feel welcomed, they offered coffee, tea or water, I usually ask them for Rum, they always answer with a giggle. ;) Today's visit was with Doctor Ed Lawson and assistant Natalia, they were very polite, professional and took care of me and addressed all my concerns, I asked Natalia to put a nature show on television, she obliged. Jaclyn is great too! and has always treated me with a smile and has taken care of me of as well. There have been other dentists and hygienist too, they have all been super friendly as well and very knowledgeable. I've been a customer of Vancouver Dental for about 4 years now, and will continue to go there for regular check ups, minor or major procedures. Thank you again!

I contacted this practice due to a dental emergency involving a very painful broken tooth. I have very bad dental anxiety but Dr shum was just fantastic. He not only managed to find time that day to see me, but he got the tooth out with minimal pain and anxiety for me. The front desk staff are also very friendly and professional! I will be moving my whole family to this practice and would absolutely recommend this practice to anyone looking for a good dentist.

Highly recommend! This clinic is cozy and neat. All the staffs are also friendly and approachable. They'll greet you the moment you enter and would offer coffee, tea or water which I find very rare to hear from any other clinics. I feel relaxed every time I come here; the calming music they play really helps and I don't feel like I'm being rushed. My first visit was with Dr Jones. He really put me at ease and explained every procedure throughly. I had a chip on my front tooth and he made it look brand new with a bonding procedure. I visited Melanie the hygienist during my second appointment. She was kind and thorough and offered some excellent advice to help me keep my teeth in good condition. Overall, excellent staff, great facility, and a wonderful experience! I would definitely recommend Victoria and 54th for any of your dental needs.

On my initial visit, this dentist insisted I had cavities on 5 of my teeth and quoted me $1220 for the work. I got a second opinion from a dentist I trust, that has cared well for my teeth for over 30 years, and she said two of the teeth Vancouver Dental wanted to work on did not need any work, one was so minimal she would recommend just keeping an eye on it, and the other two only needed half the work I was quoted by Vancouver Dental. The new quote came to under $220. Beware!!

As of November 6th, 2021 @ 8AM I've needed a Emergency Dental Repair and I have came across this Dental Office near my residential area. I was very happy to hear, that they have a Spot for me! As soon I've checked into the lobby, I was Greeted by a Nice Gentlemen - Hand Sanitizer & Temper Check and requesting to fill out Medical Consent Forms and everything else that needs to be filled out. - AND also offered Tea, Coffee or Water; which is very rare to hear that from any Dental Office (Thumbs UP) - and also asked "how do I wanted my Coffee too"... x2 Dark Chocolate and Double Double Starbucks coffee … experience wise. Soon later, went in and experience like no other... Perfect from Start to Finish - All the Bells & Whistle discussion, very easy and pleasant experience. Thank you for taking the time for this experience. Compared to my Last Dental Experience in Richmond BC Lansdown Mall, to be honest to say not a very well experience! I do highly recommend anyone in the neighborhood to check them out, In my Books Vancouver Dental (Victoria & 54th) is Fantastic & Awesome! in getting my needs done! I hadn't been to the dentist for a long time before I started going here. This was as good of an experience that I could possibly have at a dentist. As soon as you walk in, everything is clean and the staff are great. From the receptionist to the dental assistants to the dentist himself have just been helpful, understanding and I can tell they really care about my oral health and to make sure my teeth get fixed. Honestly, the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Everyone is super friendly and caring. They have water tea and snack in the waiting room and comfy couches. All 3 of my appointments so far have started and ended exactly when it was expected (or got out earlier). I was nervous about the mold for my night guard and the hygienist was very empathetic and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. I filled out a survey after my first visit and had no expectations from it, just thought it would be helpful to fill it out. I got a surprise gift card in the mail today as a thank you. I can even buy more than one coffee with it! Overall, I’m so thankful I found this place. It has really alleviated dental stress from my life.

I recently got basic dental coverage and have not been to a dentist in years. I had some tartar build up and some gum inflammation. My good friend recommended Vancouver Dental as him and his mother have been going there for years. I called them for an estimate and was told it should be somewhere between $150-300 for xrays and a cleaning after my 40% coverage. I went yesterday (November 3, 2021) for cleaning and xrays. I was a bit surprised that my portion was nearly $300, but I will say that their service was very thorough and that the staff were very friendly and considerate. The receptionist who I spoke to for the estimate called me to apologize about being wrong about the estimate--it turns out that the hygenist needed to do extra cleaning. She said to give their clinic a 5-Star review on their website for a monthly draw which may help me out. I did not see where to leave a review on the website, so maybe she meant to review on Yelp!. I figure that subsequent visits for cleaning should not cost as much, hopefully.

Excellent, I haven't gone to the dentist in a couple years and my experience here was spectacular. Very warm and inviting when you first walk through the door. The dentist/doctor let's you know what's going on during the procedure and will make wonderful recommendations to you when it comes to your teeth. Would highly recommend coming to this place! Awful Dentist, don't go here. Was scheduled for a one hour appointment and after 35 minutes in they stopped cleaning and started talking about my wisdom teeth when i already specified i didn't want them taken out. Then told me that i have to come in for a second appointment because they ran out of time, not to mention the dentist herself kept pausing to relax her shoulders, the job clearly could have been done in an hour. Clearly just trying to get more money from my insurance. Definitely not going back.

My experience at Vancouver Dental was exemplary! Friendly staff with proper covid protocol in place. My hygienist was kind, gentle and informative. Dr Fung completed a thorough exam, and together we created a long term plan for my dental work, including Invisalign and some cosmetic enhancements. I never felt pressured to complete any of the discussed procedures, which I am grateful for, but know they are ready when I am. I will definitely suggest this office to friends and family. I see Dr. Fung here and have Manmeet as my hygienist. Visiting Vancouver Dental at Victoria and 54th is always a stress-free experience for me. Even when I've had to get some work done, the welcoming staff and cheerful doctor keep me happy and totally an-anxious. Dr. Fung really cares about his patients; he asks about what's up in my life, notes stuff down and follows up on it - I don't think they teach that in dental school. This is a great place to go if you're a bit nervous about the dentist. Everyone is super warm and welcoming and they really care.

The moment I walked into the dental office I was greeted and comforted by Lesley who reacted quickly to get me right to the doctor. Lesley and Ellen guided me through the safety protocols of the Covid 19 which eliminated another concern entering a dental office. With smiles and affirmations I was set up for the doctor. Dr.Lawson was with me in know time and with extreme care he kindly spoke to me and worked on my tooth to solve my issue. I only had to focus on relieving the pain and the action plan to fixing my tooth. I will be back in about a week to finish my procedure and I’m certain I’ll be in great hands !! My brother who is in a wheelchair and on pwd2 was charged 286 dollars extra for a procedure that is covered by pwd2. But this dentist didn't accept the 1000 dollars covering the cost. Instead they made him pay extra for a pulled tooth and a filling. When he called pwd2 they were just as confused what they did was forced a extra porcelain cap forcing him to pay the extra money. Pwd2 covers 100percent of all work done but they insisted on making him pay for cosmetic work that wasn't necessary I will be suing them for harrassment because they knew what was covered and still made him pay extra money

Dentist and staff are good. However, there is a new $10 mask fee that is charged with your appointments now. It is a 1 time fee that is good for 3 months. It is mandatory as they do not allow masks brought in by patients. Totally understandable. I don't have a issue with the $10 fee. Its the length of time that it is good for. For regular check ups and cleaning my family has an appointments approximately every 4 to 6 months. We are a family of 4. With the 3 month expire date, on average you would see the dentist 2x/year. That would come at a cost of $80/yr for 8 masks!!!You can buy a 15 3 layer masks now for $8.99 now. They need to re-visit their policy. Either charge $10 for the year, or charge per mask. Masks should not work out to $10/mask. Ridiculous...

They are overpriced. Even if you have dental coverage you’ll still have to pay. Dental benefits only covers the industry standard costs for dental work. This dentist office is about %20 more pricey than industry standards. I was given a quote on what my portion was going to cost me after my benefits paid their portion of $111, and when I went to pay they told me I owe $187. There’s nothing special about this place compared to any other dentist office. Oh,,, their T.Vs are on the wall, not the ceiling. You can’t see them while you’re getting worked on. Pointless.

This is my first visit to this place and also my first visit in awhile, Just got my wisdom tooth out by Dr. Lam, absolutely amazing experienced,( I was a little nervous at first ) he's understanding, he's gentle and did an amazing job without making me feel pain. His assistant , Joan made me feel extra comfortable because I told her of how nervous I was. The atmosphere when you walk in is great! Very nice and clean place. When I saw the estimate of how much it would be, I was shocked! But in the end, I was surprised of how much it really costed. Back in for regular dental cleaning, my first since the onset of COVID. The team at Vancouver Dental have done a outstanding job of providing as safe an atmosphere as possible. From the social distancing in the reception area to the isolation rooms for treatment and the PPE worn by the hygienist and dentist, I felt confident that I was not risking my health to keep my dental care up to date.

I was looking for a reliable and good dentist, so I searched up dentist on Google and checked the reviews. The reviews are true and genuine. This dental clinic is awesome, from booking appointments to reminding you of your appointments, receiving you at their wonderful reception area - everything was easy and so convenient. The people are nice, helpful and very friendly. Shout out to Chelsea - excellent customer service, Natalia, and hygienist Jackie, hygienist Juana (I hope I spelled her name right) - who cleaned my daughter’s teeth, and of course our wonderful dentist Dr. Lawson. I recently came to Vancouver Dental as a brand new patient for a cleaning and filling and was very impressed with the overall experience that their staff provided. Their receptionists made the booking and intake process easy and effortless. They clearly also took time to adapt to Covid-19 standards with plexi glass partitions and the sanitization of each patient's hands as they entered the clinic. My hygienist April and Dr. Lawson were friendly and incredibly meticulous with their work, I've already booked my next cleaning in 6 months and would definitely recommend this office to my friends and family.

They hygenists explain what they are doing every step of the way, and can pull up x-rays on the screen in the exam room to explain to you what your dental situation is. They have been open to talking about options based on what my dental coverage is. For all those anxiety ridden dental phobes out there, look no farther. I had the good luck to inherit Dr. Danny Shrum & Vancouver Dental after my previous dentist retired. What a gift, I can personally attest their focus is on providing patient/family centred vs profit dental care. Staff are upbeat, helpful & welcoming, water, tea, coffee are available while waiting. There’s even a dish of chocolate coins should you be inclined to reward yourself afterwards. Staff relay clear explanations of fees & confirmation of expenses covered by any extended health coverage plans. The dental hygienists are very professional, not only have I received detailed, thorough cleanings but valuable dental education to avoid future problems. My recent appointment involved repair of tooth near my front teeth. Besides Dr. Shrum’s exemplary dental skills, fine tuned oral sedation (with very little side effects), Netflix & moments of humour while in the chair contributed to a painless, calming & positive experience. A stuffed pink Easter bunny from a glass vase in reception area also added some soothing pre-procedure comfort. Although I live on the West side of Vancouver, for all the above reasons I will continue to travel the extra distance to retain Dr. Shrum & this dental office team.

Let's face it nobody enjoys going to the dentist but I have to say the team at Vancouver Dental, especially Dr. Fung are first class. Having recently just switched dentists my experience with them as fantastic from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by the lovely receptionist team who sanitized my hands, took my temperature and had all my paperwork for me ready to go. Upon filling out my paperwork I was promptly greeted and escorted to the room by my hygienist April. April was personable and all around lovely. She's made me feel comfortable and did an outstanding job cleaning my teeth and making sure I was aware of what was going on during the duration of my visit with her. After April was done with my teeth I was visited by the Dentist Dr. Fung. I found Dr. Fung to be hilarious and quite knowledgeable and all around great. While talking with Dr. Fung I found he really wanted to get to know me and didn't feel like he was rushed to get out of the room as fast as possible. I must say their attention to safety protocols and detail during this difficult time with covid is and was beyond my expectations. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I need to visit the dentist.

While the staff is good, I'm not happy I just spent money for a examine and photos for a procedure (amalgam filling removals) that they don't even do. Like what the hell? I just paid for a pointless examination and well have to pay for yet another examination at another dental place that will remove fillings.

I’ve had some gum recision and was advised I needed a gum graft by Dr. Lam. He showed me a video of the two options, traditional graft and pin point. He advised that the pinpoint procedure was less painful and invasive, but results were comparable. When I asked about cost he said pin point was “slightly” more expensive. I said I would probably go with pin point but would want a quote. I asked for an estimate of both and he had the front desk give me an estimate which was for $1,745 for the 3 teeth required. They said at first the cost was the same for either type, but when I pressed saying Dr. Lam said one was slightly more I was given a new quote for pin point showing it was $3,508, twice as much! I asked to confirm with Dr. Lam and after waiting 10min he came out and told me yes, it’s twice as much. When I said double is not “slightly” more he claimed not to remember saying that to me 15 minutes prior. Dr. Lam was intentionally misleading me or he doesn’t know his costs and his memory is horrible. Either way, go to a different office or a different doctor.

There staff would never over charge or put you through a unnecessary procedure.
