Honestly I'd love to give these guys a five. I love our dental hygienist Jade at the University of Calgary. I believe Dr. Watson is a top level dentist who is fantastic in almost every regard. Watson has definitely been most helpful post wisdom tooth surgery. The reason it is a 4 star reviews is because I am sitting here with the pain of partial dry socket (possibly on both lower molars). Could this have been prevented? I am not sure. I think a few more preventative measures could have been taken, perhaps clearer paper instructions for recovery. For instance, when is bleeding supposed to stop after wisdom tooth extraction? What are ways to deal with any oral bacteria that may be present pre and post extraction? I've read that Peridex could be used pre surgery to help. Would two extra strength Tylenol have been a better choice of post surgery (first 24hours) pain killer, than a medicine like Toradol. I've read that Toradol acts like an anti inflammatory thinning the blood much like advil. I am a non smoker, who followed the instructions on the sheet I was given to the best of my knowledge. I am a healthy active person who is 37 years old, and brushes and flosses regularly. I think that a better game plan and clearer instructions will lead to better results in cases like mine. Only then will a five star be possible.

If you haven’t already been, please check out University Dental Choice! They are an amazing group of people that have been so kind to me. Honestly, no assortment of words would ever be good enough to describe my experience here. After 4 years of avoiding the dentist, I went in (nervously) thinking that they would scold me for the state of dental health. Jade Thul was my Registered Dental Hygienist and guys… She was remarkable. Absolutely the sweetest person you will ever meet. She cleaned up my mess and literally got me flossing (which is not something just anyone could do). 6 months later, I went in for a cleaning and it was a breeze. If you think that flossing doesn’t make a difference, you would be SOOOOO mistaken. My cleaning took half the time, it was enjoyable, and it’ll save you money. I promise. Even if you don’t believe me, do it for the praise you’ll get from Jade when you do. She made the last 6 months totally worth it just by her happy reaction. Thank you so much University Dental Choice! And a special thanks to the best RDH, Jade Thul!

Based on 3 visits, 2 of mine were really great - the hygienists were nice and the dentist was very knowledgable and respectful. However my last visit I had a hygienist who was sick and coughing and I ended up getting sick the next day. If you deal in people's mouths I feel like coming to work sick is just a bad idea.

I have been going to this dental choice location for about 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. The hygienists are thorough, yet speedy and always friendly. I really appreciate how the office prioritizes seeing the same hygienists when you go in! The consistency really helps with trips to the dentist as they can really tailor their cleaning to what you need. Dr Rajwani is extremely knowledgeable and has a really great bedside manor. Everyone really makes you feel extremely comfortable!

Dr. Watson removed my 17 year old son’s 4 wisdom teeth a couple of days ago, one tooth being horizontally impacted. My son and I were very impressed with Dr. Watson and his assistant. My son commented that it was a very positive experience. To my son’s amazement, he felt very comfortable after the anesthetic wore off, having very little discomfort and no swelling In the extraction sites. I would highly recommend Dr. Watson for dental treatment/ wisdom teeth extractions. Thank you Dr. Watson for taking such good care of my son!

The people is nice, but I would not recommend this place. The first time (and last) I had been there, I received a wrong price, which at the end I had to pay almost the double. The price is high and you can find better prices and good service just outside the university.

I had an appointment regarding examination and the treatment for my molar teeth. Front desk staffs were super friendly and considerate when it comes to making an appointment. Session with Dr.Rajwani was so amazing that I felt comfortable and relieved during the whole process. I usually had Jude as my hygienist but when I had to squeeze in a bunch of appointments before my benefits ran out due to getting a new job the office was really good at getting me into the next available appintmenr. I was then scheduled with Melanie who is extremely gentle and meticulous at her job. She's amazing and I highly recommend her , Jude and the entire practice ! Nothing but a great experience every time !

I've been to this clinic three times, once for a dental emergency which they took me in on short notice and helped when an older filling was giving me trouble (which was done by a different firm) and then twice for regular visits. I had my wisdom teeth out here, and their care during the procedure seems top notch. I am not sure about the after care, I think I just take a long time to heal, but it is possible instructions like icing could have reduced my healing time.

Recommend it to students at UofC or people near the campus. This dental clinic mainly serves students and staff on campus by being located at dining hall and providing flexible payment choices. They have good service both in treating and receiving patients.

Enjoy is not the first adjective that comes to mind when I have to visit a dentist. I would suggest you come up with a better adjective, and I say that in good humour. Both Dr. Rajwani and her assistant did great jobs, making me feel relaxed and competently addressing the issue at hand. I needed to get a filling replaced. But the initial complaint that had brought me there, acute and excruciating pain in my upper left gum, turned out to be, as Dr. Rajwani suspected, the result of a sinus infection. She prescribed T3s for the pain and Amoxil for the infection. Within two days of taking the antibiotic, the pain and swelling had dissipated to the point where I didn't have to take the T3s any more. I even cancelled a visit with my family doctor because it was apparent that it was a sinus infection after all and the antibiotics were doing the trick. Keep up the great work!

Like many individuals, the I suffer from trepidation for any appointments regarding dentistry. However, when push comes to shove I will endure and eventually go in once my teeth bother me enough. This time around I went in to University Dental Choice and it was for a cleaning. First off I have avoided a cleaning for a few years so the potential fear of cavities and more was a cause for anxiety. However, once arriving and being checked in by the friendly receptionists I was greeted by my dental hygienist Jade. Jade was accommodating to my anxiety surrounding the cleaning and advised me throughout the process that I was going to be alright. I can gladly say she was right, the process took maybe no longer than two hours and Jade took her time to explain each process in the procedure to reassure my anxiety. Furthermore, she was humorous, empathetic and genuine in her speech. From my experience she was well versed at the procedure and capable of keeping a genuine conversation with her patient without chastising them for any discrepancies regarding their oral care. Jade, Dr. Sampson and the reception team are warm and welcoming individuals who assist those suffering from dental phobia or anxiety feel at ease with each visit. Highly advise them to other patients regardless of whether they are attending the university for a degree.

It's been 8 years since my last dental appointment. Being a university student, money is also a problem. The dentistry team was amazing. My hygienist was so understanding to my cost needs and the dentist was wonderful and person centered. It's great that I can get health insurance direct billing and they provide you with a quote of how much extras will cost. Definitely recommend :)

Update Sept-2019: The quality of service and helpfulness of staff has been consistently remarkable since I first visited them in 2016. From minor cleanings to crowning my molars, everything was done perfectly up to my satisfaction. Thank you! Amazing service, very friendly staff, and competent dentist. Recommended!! Unfortunately, services are more costly than students' insurance could afford.

I had gone here for a while however, when a tooth died, the doctor suggested a crown. After a month of running around, over $2000 and extra work on my end I learned that because the tooth was whole and completely undamaged, I didn't need a crown. Just a root canal and some whitening agents inserted into the tooth. The doctor here was overzealous in suggesting this blanket solution and she didn't take the time to think whether or not it was the best decision for me. Her inexperience is showing and I can't say I'm super pleased with the result. It's hard to tell when they are for profit companies and not part of the healthcare system. I don't think dentists have to take the Hippocratic Oath, which means they only serve the all mighty dollar. I suggest getting a second or third opinion before dropping a large amount of money on a procedure that might end up being unnecessary.

Avoid! I booked an appointment for a dental cleaning several months ago. When I called to confirm this appointment, they told me that it had never been booked in the first place. So, I booked another one for Friday. This, evening (Tuesday) I got a call at 4:30 p.m. to confirm my appointment. I couldn't answer because I was in class. The receptionist left a voicemail saying that if I didn't call back to confirm by the end of business hours (5 p.m.), they would cancel my appointment. It is very obvious that they do no want to deal with students, which is unfortunate given that they are on campus. Even though students only receive coverage with "dental network" dentists, I will be finding another dentist and taking my business there. This is no way to treat clients!

The team at the University Dental office were very attentive, friendly and efficient. I recently had two of my wisdom teeth removed and the whole process was efficient and quick. Usually when you book to have something done you have to wait at least a month or so at the bare minimum, but they went out of their way to squeeze me in as soon as possible when it would have been fine to wait a couple of weeks or months. After the appointment itself they made sure I had a means of transportation home and that i was okay to leave the office. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who asks about this dental office.

It took a while before I could get an appointment as a new patient, I booked in September and I got my appointment in December. During the cleaning, I thought the assistant was a little too rough and distracted when working in my mouth and the process hurt more than the previous location I went to. Despite this, the people working there are all extremely friendly and the location was very clean and professional as well. I'm really happy with my dentist, because Dr. Rajwani is so fantastic and caring! When I needed fillings after my examination, I was able to book for those within 1-2 days which was awesome! And the assistant, Anamika, was super nice and considerate of how I was doing the entire time. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here.

They were conscious of my health insurance and made sure that they didn't sign me up for anything that wouldn't be covered or wasn't necessary. I had my cleaning done, by Jade, and experienced no pain at all. The doctor was also fantastic, very approachable, did a thorough exam, and made sure any of my questions were answered. Everyone that looked at my teeth (I had two hygienists as I went two separate days) gave me all the information that I needed about the health of my teeth and gums, and advice on how to keep my teeth healthy! Overall, from start to finish I had a wonderful experience with the Dental Choice clinic at the University of Calgary! I will be going back here and recommending this place to my friends and family.

Best clinic in all of Calgary, and probably the world. Dr. El Gamal is literally the best dentist I have had in my entire life. 2 years ago, I had to undergo four root canals, and other procedures, and the staff and Dr. El Gamal, allowed me to feel comfortable, as if my teeth were in the right hands. This dental choice is very understanding about how expensive teeth are, but was willing to let me get temporary root canal procedures to get rid of the pain, allowing me to fix the whole tooth at a later date. They go above and beyond explaining procedures, and different options you have without overwhelming you. Dr. El Gamal is super kind, and truly cares about his patients. When I was in Europe, I had more issues with my teeth, and was skeptical of getting my teeth down overseas, so I emailed him and he was more than willing to help me out, keeping rapport with me to make sure my dental health was safe. As for the staff, the receptionists are just lovely, and have been thorough in making sure I understand everything for payments and the necessary steps I should take for using my insurance. This one dental assistant, who has helped me with majority of my teeth is absolutely amazing. Always cracking jokes, and making me feel comfortable. She is very efficient, and on top of everything! Last the dental hygienist, is wicked. Taught me how to properly brush my teeth (ha-ha), and motivates me to keep a healthy mouth all year long. Thank you dental choice, at the university, for providing exceptional service.

The dental hygienest did a wonderful job on my teeth. Had some mineralization on my front bottom teeth that I thought would never come off (because the last time I went in, the hygienist didn't remove it all). But now my teeth now look amazing!!! Lots of availability, booking an appointment was convenient. On my initial visit the people at the desk, the hygienist, and the dentist were all very kind and listened to my concerns. They made sure I was comfortable. However, my second visit was not as comfortable, the original price they gave me was not what they charged me. They changed my appointment time the day before without telling me. I simply recieved a notification to show up 30min later which was an inconvenience. I was also told the same thing repeatedly by the hygienist to come back in 6 months. I'm not going back, I felt taken advantage of and belittled on my second visit.

One thing I was not sure about how you sterilize the instruments after using with one patient and whether these are properly clean before using with the next patient. First time at this clinic and I will definitely be coming back. The staff are very professional, competent, friendly, and welcoming. Jade is awesome! I usually get very anxious when going to the dentist, but I have never felt more calm. She cleaned my teeth thoroughly and gave me a run down on everything she was doing on me beforehand so I was aware and knew what to expect.

I do not understand why u of c student union dental insurance policy have to restrict and limit students to make choice only on their list of dentists if students want to have portion of dental insurance covered. Those dental choice franchises are not really charges fair and cheaper prices as the u of c student union said they are cheaper with other dentists. In fact, I have verify with the Alberta Dental Association codes, they are charging more compare with other non - u of c dental choice franchise. Not Honest. Make sure you confirm with price before you do any dental services. school probably get some payback from those dentists!

I had a cleaning done earlier this month and the hygienist was very thorough. I am very happy with her service. I will also be filling in a couple of cavities the University Dental Choice in a couple of days. I also wanted to have my wisdom teeth removed, but at a different location (due to availability) so I asked the receptionist if she could book it for me. She told me that once I begin at one location that I cannot go to any other location for the remainder of my undergraduates, due to the university insurance plan. I asked her if it was not possible for them to send my information to any other Dental Choice location as long as they are the same franchise and she told me that it's only possible if I became a graduate student. She clarified for me that I could not go to any other Dental Choice location next year either, unless I was a graduate student. She booked a consultation for me at the University location. I decided to fact check and asked the student union and they told me that it was a preference, not a rule. I asked my friends about it and they have or known someone who previously went to different Dental Choice location in the duration of their undergraduate. I decided to go directly to the other location myself and they have also confirmed with me that they strongly prefer clients to consistently attend one branch, but I am allowed to go to a different location if it was more convenient for me. They were able to pull up my information in their database, and received the x-rays from the University Dental Choice location. So I booked for a consultation with them and cancelled the consultation at the University location. Today I received the reminder phone call about my appointment for my cavities. The receptionist was very passive aggressive, mentioning that I went to the other Dental Choice location despite telling me that I wasn't allowed to (her exact words) followed by telling me that she may not be able to accurately calculate the amount I would need to pay for my next appointment because of the complication with the insurance? It was a very passive aggressive comment where she hung up when I tried to ask her a question. I would not recommend anyone (I may actively discourage people) to go to this location. I feel that I have been lied to and that the passive aggressive comment was incredibly unprofessional.

The service from the doctor and assistants was great. But the secretaries were terrible: they didn't know how to make sure that the cost would not be over the insurance limit. I wonder how they could pass the elementary school. Keep asking to ensure that I would only have to pay 20% didn't help me to avoid it. Finally I had to pay, and that's the last time.

Very professional with answering inquiries and questions. This dental clinic looks out for their client's best interested. The friendly staff ensure you are well-taken care of from your very first visit! Wait times are short and staff are very punctual with your appointment times, to not keep you waiting long.

Horrible place. Will try to push you into getting your wisdom teeth out through them. Went to a much better place that let me know you don't need to have your wisdom teeth out at all unless they cause you pain. Also there are other places that charge much less if you do want it out. They scraped my gums while cleaning my teeth and were not gentle at all. Tried to force me into doing more than just a cleaning which is all I asked for. I never asked to see the dentist yet they brought him in and charged me for it. Also added charges for fluoride and flossing which I also said I did not want. Will also try to force you into getting an x-ray which you have the right to refuse. They have no regard for patient consent. Go somewhere else where there is better care and aren't all out for your money.

The dentist was wonderful. However, my experience with the receptionists were terrible. The receptionist that was working out my payment play previously charged me 900 dollars for my wisdom teeth removal. Days later, I was told that it was 1400 dollars.. And now, she no longer works there. All I got was insincere sorry and I felt mocked by the new receptionists after I expressed my anger. The experience was so horrible that I will most likely never go back again.

They made it seem like the Xray+checkup is mandatory, but when I pressed for no, they agreed, but the lady was being very rude. She constantly made sarcastic comments "You threw me off!! People should know what they booked for showing up!" (Mind you I only booked a teeth clean session) "You have money to pay for travel" (I explained I'm visiting my parents whom I haven't seen for 2 years and I had to save up for the trip). Her co-worker walked in and she gestured to me saying "Surprise surprise" while lightly shaking her head. I felt very discriminated, but didn't want to say it right there in case she wants to make my experience painful. To top it off, they didn't bill my insurance correctly (50% instead of 80%), which I suspect they did out of spite. I will have to figure it out myself now. WARNING to all UofC students: Don't waste your time, go somewhere else where they actually treat you like a client.

After an absolutely horrendous experience at Varsity Dental Choice I came to this location for a second opinion. Dr. Chizen was very friendly and actually introduced himself to me and explained everything he was doing in a way that I could understand. I can't recall my hygienist's name but she was also fantastic. He was very accommodating and was able to fit me in the next day to get a cavity filled. All in all a great experience

The staff were super friendly but the work was questionable. I did a filling and I ended up losing taste on the right side of my tongue. I called them and the lady on the phone told me that it was normal and to wait a week and call back if I didn’t get it back. I waited three to four weeks and still nothing happened so I called back yesterday. It took awhile to get a hold of them and when I finally did, while I was explaining my situation the line magically dropped. I tried calling back and no answer, they didn’t even bother to call me back even though they had my information. I didn’t even get the opportunity to ask them for my x-rays because I am pretty sure they worked on the wrong tooth. To add to it all they didn’t bother to tell me that my benefits had run out before doing the filling. My benefits renew in a month so I could have waited, instead I was left paying more out of pocket for a job badly done...anyways if you like the taste of food go see a professional.

I have been going to this dental office for around 8 years now and it has been awesome. All people working here are great, right from the front desk to the hygienists and the dentists. Everyone here tries to make sure you stay comfortable. The hygienist, Jade, who I have been going to for many years now is the best hygienist I've ever been to. She is very friendly and does a great job every time, and your teeth and gums are not sore afterwards! Dr. Rijwani is also very friendly and a great dentist. She makes sure to answer any questions you might have and is never pushy about anything. Overall, highly recommended.

Dentist: Dr. El Gamal is fantastic. He always friendly and I like his humorous personality. Always takes the edge off. He is also extremely fast for any procedure. The freezing and aftercare talk always take longer that the actual drilling/poking. It's great. Dental Assistants: Completely professional and always ensure you are comfortable, well informed and feeling great. Always on their toes keeping the doc in line and ensuring the operations go smoothly.... which they always do :) Reception: Great at their jobs and know exactly how to handle each insurance company to ensure the patient just has to show up. The only drawback is the amount of phone calls you get... to book another appointment, make sure the last appointment as comfortable, reminder for your next appointment... but maybe that me, I hate the phone. Overall: Working on the UofC campus this office is prefect for me, with regard to convenience, Not to mention the giant wall of south facing windows in the office to the chairs always feel nice in the sun and its great to people watch while you wait. Highly recommend the office for anyone with dentist anxiety.... which I had (threw up on a dentist once, i was so nervous) but Dr. El Gamal is so fast it is awesome... no time to even get anxious.

I went in for an exam to check my teeth. I was told it will cost me $40 with the student benefit plan , but the bill comes out to be $125. It turned out the staff made a mistake and gave me a wrong price. Really was not happy about that. Not recommended.
