I started at this dance school with a really limited amount of knowledge in latin dance. About 6 months in and I am in love with the school. The staff and overall community has been so kind that I spend all of my free time at dance class learning salsa and bachata. Their monthly events are amazing for social dancing and the school is always holding different events around montreal, soon to come is a road trip to Ottawa. I can't recommend it enough, i've even gotten a few friends to come join too! I've gone to quite a few schools in montreal and I will admit, there is nothing like San Tropez!

I've been to other dance schools and they don't come nothing close to San Tropez Dance School’s way of teaching! Here they don't only teach you the moves, they make you understand each and every step also! Teachers are great passionates & real professionals, with an amazing approche to teach the dances, they explain each and every detail in a clear manner! Teachers of this school are passionate and quite experienced, and will definitely improve your dance technique whichever level you may be at. And I consider myself an intermediate latin dancer; I participated in their event with my inexperienced partner and she loved it! Learned alot and appreciated the great energy!!???? They are also very active in the MTL dance scene so follow their FB page for upcoming events in lieu of new policies allowing more social dance. They're adamant about dance safety and precautions during pandemic. -School is in fact open again for classes contact them for reservations, absolutely recommend it! Be very careful with this school!!!!! I told them that I did not want a CONTRACT!!!!! And they put my account on a contract without cancellation. They are very tricky to take your money without you wanting to continue. I was not able to cancel, even if I did not want !!!!! NOT RETURNING EVER AT THIS SCHOOL !!!!!

Unfortunately, they have that open schedule where you pay to attend as many classes as you want for a given period. Sounds good at first until you realize that there are no sessions. That means that there is no progress, no build up on the previous class since not all the same students attended the same lessons. You end-up re-doing the same thing over and over, starting from easy to complex within an hour. If you are a noob, you feel rushed because there was not enough time in the first 30 minutes to absorb the new stuff, before they complexify it. On the other hand, if you already master the easy stuff, you just have to redo over and over the same stuff just to benefit from the new moves taught during the last 10 minutes and that you'll never get to really practice. Other contention, there are never enough women. Guys end-up dancing alone since there are 50% more men than women. Not a great way to learn complex moves.

Been to a few salsa schools in Montreal and found that san tropez is very expensive for what they give. The teachers are nice but seem very amateur and lack teaching experience. I took a few private lessons and group classes and it was such a waste of money and time. Never again! Lots of other options available for salsa and bachata in montreal.

I have been coming to San Tropez for about a year, spending as much time in the studio as I can whenever I am in town. I started with virtually no Latin dance experience and I am so happy with how much I've improved! San Tropez uses a solid curriculum which helps students progress step by step. I love the 8-level system that meets each student where they're at. I always feel just the right amount of challenge :) The vibe in the studio is warm, inviting and FUN and the instructors are passionate and truly care about their students. Highly recommended!!!

I signed up my kids for dance class here recently as a weekend activity, and they absolutely love it. The facilities are great (there is a play room for kids while we wait), a small cantine where one can get snacks and beverages, and an area with tables overlooking the dance hall for parents to watch. The instructrer was nice, got the kids involved, gave them water in between and used props to keep them entertained (ie hoola-hoops). Its $32 for four sessions. Not cheap but not expensive, and the main advantage is that the sign up is flexible. Its not an annual contract so if the kids don't like it after a few classes, you're out $32 instead of $400. The class content for young kids is nothing special. They basically move around, but after 5 yrs of age they can start something specific like hip-hop or ballet. Worth trtyinhg out.

San Tropez specializes in Salsa and Bachata (and also offer other classes such as Kizomba and Cha Cha Cha), they have great teachers and a wonderful couple as founders of the school. I've been with them for more than 6 months and was very well complimented when I took a trip to South America. Compared to dancing alone, Salsa and Bachata shows you the importance of teamwork by leading or following and has provided a very comfortable environment to meet new people and socialize. I've tried a couple other dancing school and this is my favorite one because they offered a trial week for a very reasonable price and the fact that their schedule is very flexible where you can come whenever you want to the classes of your level.

My partner and I have tried several places for Latin dances, and in our minds, this one is absolutely the best. They also have an interesting formula: all you can dance, several latin styles, all for a fixed price. I see that all the bad reviews are related to money issues, not to teaching. With the contract mentioned above, our experience has been entirely positive. And we met only very pleasant staff, either at the reception desk or on the dance floor. We like this place a lot!

I’ll say that the dancing is great and so are the teachers but the owner I find is only really after your money. I’ve been going there for years and always had that feeling but never felt like leaving a review until now. A few years ago I had to back out of classes because of personal reasons and she insisted I pay for the rest of the session even though I was in tears and explaining why I really needed to leave the class for the session. I bought private classes a few years ago and recently asked to use them and she didn’t believe me and didn’t honour them even after she asked for proof and I provided it. I’m really overall disappointed in their customer service and that’s why I’m giving this low review. I called universal dance studio in st Henri and they honoured an old class I bought no questions asked and were thrilled to have me back in their studio. I think San Tropez could learn a lesson in customer service and the value of a student rather than just 2 hours of classes.

Been going to San Tropez for 3 months now, and what i thought it would be a fun activity, turned into a serious hobby. With no previous experience in social dance and never taken any sort of lessons, I didnt know what to expect, the rules, the etiquette. All the staff was extremely helpful put me at ease in a matter of minutes, and after taking my first class I was hooked. The teachers are the best in the business, professional, charismatic, funny, and they really care that every student is bringing their A game and have fun at the same time. The other students are also very friendly and a pleasure to be around either at the school, or outside at social dancing (and believe me you will go social dancing). The experience has been amazing, and I know ill be dancing for many years to come!

It is a very warm and comfortable atmosphere where smiles are everywhere I was blessed to have Sonia in a one on one lesson for Bachata and salsa. As this was my first class I was a little nervous but Sonia made me feel very comfortable and secure in my moves. I absolutely loved it and have been wanting more. Living in another city far away I am unable to attend on a regular basis but if given the opportunity I would be a full time student. Dancing is my joy and freedom and thanks to the San tropez dance school and Sonia I feel comfortable and free to continue learning and bettering myself thru dance. They make it a priority to create a safe space for us to let go of our insecurities and to have fun.There s such great energy that I can t wait to finish work to come recharge my battery. Deficient costumer services!! They charged us more than they should and we told them right away, they always said to us that it was an error they return the money. After 1 month and half (we asked them at least once a week, we think it is a scam ), they told us different excuses. They never answered any emails. Even we talked a couple times with the manager at the beginning, after that she never showed up again, the people in reception was not helpful at all. The teachers are nice, but the system is not really good because every time new people join to the class (at the beginning and middle month) everybody starts with the basic, and there is a big step between the lower level and the next level. This kind of school is based in high rotation of people. (Update) The day after this review, they called me and returned the money.
