I take adult ballet with Miss Rosemarie and love it! She makes the class fun while clearly explaining terms and how to safely perform steps. I'm extremely grateful for her knowledge and experience as she realized I have hyperextension and through her guidance I am overcoming my disposition to injury.

North London Dance Centre is a wonderful and welcoming dance school, with talented and professional teachers. If you are looking for a non-competitive dance school for your son/daughter that focuses on ballet syllabus and prepares children for RAD exams, call them and speak to the knowledgeable staff and owner. My three daughters have been dancing there since 2004, yes many years and we have loved every year. Now you will read the good and bad reviews but you must experience this school and its faculty first hand. They offer many dance classes in ballet, jazz, tap, etc. Tuition fees are reasonable and comparable to other dance schools in London and other cities and yes there are recital fees that change according to what is being offered. I have spend hundreds of hours sitting in the waiting room over the last 16 years and the faculty behind the desk welcomes every child by name as they enter. I have also been late for pick up many times over the years and I know that my children will be watched or they can hang out with friends in the dancers' room if needed. My girls have and continue to prepare for ballet, jazz, and tap exams yearly and if the teachers think they are ready for them. There have been years when my kids have not offered certain exams as they were not prepared for them, and for this I thank the staff for their honesty. Exams are a stressful time for anyone, weather in university, piano, or dance and the children need to be ready and comfortable with themselves in order to do well. I also am grateful for the feedback I receive from the teachers, sometimes weekly if my children are not behaving in class or are disruptive to other children. The teachers are strict yet helpful and do their best to prepare the kids. Over the 16 years, I have had numerous conversations with the faculty and owners about my children and we have worked together with a common goal in mind. I feel comfortable asking Kelly, Megan, Dale and other teachers to push my children to their fullest potential and to report to me if my kids are not participating. I also thank Kelly for the opportunity that she has given the older students to help out with classes this has helped my girls with their confidence and leadership skills. We have an NLDC family. I have seen the relationships that the students have developed over the years with their dance peeps and this is heartwarming. Thanks NLDC! Best dance school ever!!!

I am editing this post. Last evening when I picked my child I had a pleasant conversation with the camp coordinator. I still wish children get welcomed in the morning. As a parent rushing to work, it is hard to see your child standing haplessly in a new place with no one coming to cajole them and include them. Thanks for trying to make amends NLDA.

Our 4 yr old love this centre, and is enjoying her weekly lessons here no end. : Very nice responsive staff and some of the older girls help out with the lesson for the small ones like ours. :) Excellent group!

After finishing attending Parent View week #2 I have to comment on this school’s professionalism and the strength of its faculty. It is amazing to see the dancer’s year after year improve and expand their love of dance. It is easy to see why I enrolled my daughter here 12 years ago, and why I as well have enrolled in the adult classes. I have seen the love of dance expand in my daughter tremendously over the past years. The friendly, welcoming atmosphere that you experience from the time you enter the studio until you leave is amazing. The faculty are amazing and share their love of dance and of teaching with all ages of dancers at the studio. I am impressed by the fact that they have registered faculty from RAD and CDTA, so you know your dancer’s are being well trained. The studio is well run, organized, friendly and clean. Being able to watch the classes from the waiting room is great for parents. I as well appreciate how efficiently the owner keeps all parents/dancers up-to-date with all the extras that are planned as well as day to day happenings with the monthly newsletter, social media and email. There is always something fun and exciting going on. The Christmas and Year End Recitals are always a great time around the studio. Seeing the dancers performing on stage and all the hard work that goes into recital day is a great testament to the hard work all staff put into these two events. They get better and better every year. Keep up the great work NLDC, my daughter and I will be dancing here for years to come!

I have mixed feelings about this dance studio. For the most part, my child loved dancing here and the teachers were good. My issues were with the obvious favourtism that exists at this dance school - especially by the owner - and honestly the quality has gone down in recent years, which is why we left. It appeared that the owner was/is concerned with quantity - which is fine, it's a business and she needs to make money for it to be successful - however, the place is overcrowded and the quality appears to be suffering a bit. The studio is definitely not in need of students yet she consistently posts ads everywhere and they are very heavily populated with children under 6. My main issue though was really with the obvious favourtism at this school from about level 1 (ages 7-8) and up. Basically when exams start. Many kids are talented at this school, which is a direct reflection of the teachers and deserve to be chosen or highlighted in dances, however, my problem was that many children who were not the best (either technically, or had disruptive behaviour) - were chosen. I was also shocked with some children who weren't chosen and when their parents approached the owner as to why - they were not well received. This dance school is non-competitive and the owner will stress that and that exams are a nicety - reward for doing well - however, she really promotes them (on her website, in ads and on social media) so she should be able to have a decent conversation with parents as to why they're child was not chosen. Many of the teachers were/are still great at this school, however, I think the owner needs to focus a little more on the quality of the older groups (above the primary level) and maybe not be so obvious with her favouritism towards certain students - especially her own children. Also, in recent years the amount of the "recital fee" (including costumes and I've heard recently a digital download of the two concerts) has basically doubled per dance - which is ridiculous. She will say it is comparative to other dance schools - which is somewhat true - not entirely though. The school we're currently with is another well-regarded school in London and the recital fees are not nearly as high. Perhaps a gradual increment would have been better to implement or if a child is in multiple dances, maybe after the first dance, the prices should decrease. Yes I posted anonymously - and do not want to be called out on that. There are additional reasons as to why, which I'm not getting into in a review.

My daughter has been going to this studio for the past 5 years. She started when she was 3 years old. From the beginning, we loved the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. This studio is truly wonderful for all ages and all skill levels. The teachers and staff are always so kind, patient, helpful and cheerful. They offer a variety of dance classes from ballet, tap, hip hop and everything in between. I highly recommend this dance studio.

Day camps and Summer Camp there and have always left happy and ready to share all sorts of wonderful stories about their experiences there.
