519 School of Hip Hop is a combination dance/culture school available for all ages interested in learning about and engaging in the exciting world of Hip Hop as a culture. The instructors based at this new location have been actively participating in London's community through workshops, public events and dance instruction for a number of years, and are serious advocates of promoting the values of peace, unity and having fun through the expressive elements of Hip Hop including break dancing (bboy'ing or bgirling), DJing, emceeing (rapping) and graffiti art. I've had the pleasure of learning a lot from Jim and his students for a decade (or more) now, and recommend 519 SHH for those either wanting to enhance their current understanding and expression through hip hop, or for those seeking to learn about the culture for the first time in a safe and friendly environment. The school has already run junior and senior summer camps and a handful of 101-style, multi-week programs touching on all of the previously mentioned elements of hip hop. Despite my consumption and interest in the music and dance forms of hip hop for many years now, I find myself digging deeper and learning something new each time I visit. Definitely recommend this place for kids, adolescents and adults alike!
