overall horrible experience really. 1 - the owner is exteremely ocd and constantly reminds you to take off your shoes. every single time. 2- she purposely fitted our daughter in shoes and an outfit that was barely fitting and already over priced. 120$ for something that would have to be bought again, in 4 months easly could have upsized a bit. The place just gives off a money grab vibe. even in the bathroom there is an advertisement for overpriced chocolate bars. meh. 3- the smell of fake air freshener on entry is also revolting. for what its worth our daughter enjoyed dancing , and the girl who actually was teaching her seemed good. nonetheless I could never recommend this place as the vibe generated by the owner is offputting. my daughter will go elsewhere next year.

I wish I had paid attention to the parents on here that have already given this studio a negative review. I went to this studio really hoping to provide a fun experience for my daughter. The woman who runs this studio, however, has really seriously weak interpersonal skills. The weird part is, I kind of like her, and think that she is working really hard. The problem is that her way of acting to three year olds is just...inappropriate. My daughter cried her first class, and the owner said in a very loud voice--"No Crying! No crying!" Then she darted around flapping her arms and telling us that she couldn't have any crying in the classes. Of course, this really aggressive and stressed out energy is not going to work on a scared little kid. The younger staff are wonderful, and have a better approach overall, but the owner works at cross-purposes with her own staff who are much better than her at dealing with a child who is shy. At any rate, I have to give this studio a very low rating because if you sign up, and it doesn't work out (which is quite likely), they have no refund policy at all. They make you buy very expensive clothing on the first day to boot. Last class, we were basically told to stop coming, and were even told that our child was "not normal" (she's doing fine at daycare where she doesn't cry) but we were not offered a refund for our money or even an apology. I honestly feel a bit guilty writing this because I know that the owner is not a bad person, but she's a very clueless one. In response to the inarticulate rant below: we attended a total of three classes.

(Translated) My 13 year old daughter and I would have liked to have had a pleasant experience but it was disappointing. Before registering for summer camp, my teenager spent a lot of time researching the Internet to make sure she was dancing in a group of adults and not children. I paid $ 632 in May by pressing the "Paypal" registration-payment button in the school principal's email when she confirmed the group's availability for 2 weeks of summer camp. I later learned that I was charged twice on my credit card because the school principal denies having used Paypal (which is indicated in her email signature). I had to spend a lot of time with Visa, Paypal and school until the double payment was refunded to me. The first week of camp in July has finally arrived, my daughter was excited to go. She spent her first day in a group of little ones, she didn't want to go back there anymore because dancing with the teenagers was her criteria and this was not delivered. By wanting to support service companies, I asked for a partial refund since my daughter was not going to use the rest of the service and this service was not what we expected (I thought to myself that I already paid the first week but was not going to pay the 2nd week). This request was categorically refused, "no reimbursement during covid, your daughter just has to stay mature instead of being bothered by the little ones". How can you make a car pay in advance, not recognize that 2 wheels were missing to deliver the ordered car, deliver a scooter instead and tell the customer "just ride with it!" ? It's a shame but I don't recommend this philosophy of business management and customer service.

Avoid! I went ahead and enrolled my son in the hip-hop class but I wish I had paid more attention to the parents who gave poor reviews here. The instructors are very nice, but the owner makes what should be a fun experience negative. Not only was she unbelievably rigid and short with young children, she was disorganized, did not communicate changes to the schedule (which occurred A LOT) via email - only by speaking to parents who were onsite, and was unbelievably rude when any form of concern or issue was brought up. She seems to think we should be grateful she allows us to let our children take dance classes at her studio. I will never enroll my child here again. Run far away.

I moved to Montreal briefly from Ontario and prior to registering for a dance class, I contacted them specifically to ask if they were anglophone-friendly. They responded with yes, and that all their classes are taught in French AND English and that all their instructors are bilingual. So I signed up and began taking lessons there, thinking my English would be accepted. Upon my first lesson, the studio owner Sylvia literally told me "This is Quebec, you're supposed to speak French." I understand that I was in a province where French is the first language, but I expect a company that makes a claim to accommodate anglophones to NOT discriminate against them in such a manner. If your preferred language is anything but French, I would not recommend Sylviaera Dance in order to avoid encountering such an arrogant administrator. It's a shame because Marie-Eve - the young woman who taught my class - is a very good teacher who put effort in to adjust to my need for English instruction and ensured my inclusion, and is a genuinely nice lady. -Edit: I forgot to mention that Sylvia continued to speak to me in French during all our conversations, despite being fully aware that I did not understand her. Her pretentious attitude and intention to degrade Anglophones is unacceptable.

(Translated) I was a student in this school from January to June. First, it was $ 450 for the winter / spring session. What I did not know was that I would have to pay other costs once registered. For starters, $ 40 for a camisole that would make me a billboard for the company and that I will never put back. $ 100 for a suit that was clearly worth less. $ 20 for tights that I would have had cheaper elsewhere. And 25 $ for a link (yes yes, a LINK, not even a DVD) to access the video of the show, on which it misses the ONLY number that I did. Download problem, it seems. I'm waiting for it to be settled. Secondly, the director is an unpleasant woman, not at all listening to her students, and quite hypocritical thank you (when I hear you scream on your employees for a situation of which you are responsible, to come and disturb us during the course all smiles, it insults me a bit). It's a "gold digger", nothing else. When you harass my teacher AND another STUDENT because I did not come to class and you still want your money THERE, right away, when I have an extinction, I'm sick, and I not living next door, I think it lacks a lot of professionalism. I understand that it's just my money you want, it's okay. She does not deserve her employees who, if they are all like my teacher, are extraordinary. Honestly, do not register and do not send your children there, please! You can find really better, for really less expensive, and I speak from experience, it's been 11 years that I dance!

We love this dance school! Sylvia and her staff of teachers are very professional and creative. Our daughter has blossomed as a dancer thanks to their teaching. This is the real deal. She learns technique and wonderful choreographies. The only place to learn Broadway Jazz style of dancing.

Understaffed and overwhelmed teacher Not child friendly at all Mine is 3 in a couple months Lack of profetionalism and wormth towards the children. Was our first dance glass and it was a really negative experience. They were really fast to sell cloths tho.

(Translated) As a student I only have positive comments on teaching at Sylviaera. The teachers are very professional and attentive to the expectations of the students. They always push our limits and motivate us to continue. I have rarely seen teaching as PRO as at SYLVIAERA in addition to being dynamic. Then the choreographies are magnificent !! I would like to point out that the service in this school is remarkable! The director and the assistants go to great lengths to have a good follow-up with each student. They guide us and take care of us throughout the sessions. In short, I recommend SYLVIAERA to anyone who wants to progress in dance and make crazy shows !!! :)

Cool atmosphere and cool people from what I've seen ! My coworkers had a great experience shooting a music video there !

Last minute request for wedding dance with no previous dancing experience. She did a very good job fast tracking the learning curve and coming up with a choreography. She can be quite demanding, which can be interpreted negatively to some, however, the results speak for themselves.

(Translated) My partner and I took dance lessons there for our wedding. I must say that Sylvia is an excellent teacher: demanding, square, very serious, she guided us in the choice of our music and we loved the choreography she put in place. We are delighted, the studios are great, the atmosphere friendly and friendly. We highly recommend!

(Translated) I was a student at this school for one season and I am very disappointed with the dance lessons. The price is certainly high, but what if it was still justified? Once the course has been paid, we are forced to buy the T-shirt from the company, ok, that's explained before registering. Then when you want to participate in the end-of-year show, there are new fees too! and Bam the costume .... but the worst is to charge places for our loved ones to come and see us! It was enough for none to want to come eventually. When the dance class, the teacher gives us almost no instructions, I never know if I am well positioned, it's cool. From one week to another, the teacher does not even remember the choreography, that we only work 5 to 10 minutes per class ... and the coup de grace is when the director comes to pick up her teacher in front us during the lesson and yell like a child, very embarrassing moments. I am used to dance lessons, I did it for 10 years before, and what I liked in the other schools was the follow-up of the teacher, the quality of the teaching, and the good atmosphere which reigned there. Unfortunately I did not find anything here ... so necessarily the price added to that is bingo!
