Prima Ballet is one of the nicest, most welcoming dance schools for kids I’ve ever been to.
Before coming to Prima, Quarantine gave me a lot of time at home and I ended up going through my old childhood photos and finding the ones from my old ballet school I used to go to. Looking over my childhood photos made me realize how important the bonding experience I had in that ballet school was for my confidence as a kid and I wanted my niece to be able to have those memories too.
Quarantine has been really hard and isolating, but now that the vaccines are rolling out I felt like this was the best time to find this bonding experience for my niece. She’s been really lonely and negatively impacted by the online learning experience, so I visited a few other ballet and even modern dance places to get her involved in groups again, and to help her feel safe enough to make new friends too.
After my long search, In the end I chose to register her here at Prima because the instructors, Ms. Smith and Ms. Hunter, created the safest but most welcoming experience for me and my niece. My niece was really nervous about this all so I stayed until they started dancing. I understandably couldn’t stay the whole time because of covid, but my niece was so quick to open up and have fun at the start, and the new owner Mia was nice enough to send these photos for me! My niece just could not stop talking about it after!
When I spoke to Mia, the conversation we had really resonated with me: Dancing is more than just learning a style, it’s about building confidence and learning how to comfortably express your emotions by challenging your mind and body to work together. These are all things that I wanted my niece to learn and to grow up with- and the safe and welcoming atmosphere at Prima is where I definitely want my niece to experience it!
I’m so excited to be able to find this place for my niece and I’m looking forward to seeing her grow past the troubles of 2020!
