I take the Zumba classes here and they are so much fun! Nadege and Soul teach the Zumba classes together and create a high-energy, joyful experience, and a great workout. The studio is big and clean. Whether you trip over your feet or have memorized their routines, you are welcomed and can feel right at home in this Zumba class. I feel happy and energized after every class!

I've done Zumba/fitness classes both in person and via Zoom with Nadege and Soul for almost 2 years now. They are such wonderful, happy, energetic people! The workouts are fantastic and I always finish class in a better mood then when I started. There are lots of class options and a library of recorded sessions for when you can't make the class times work. I definitely recommend trying one of their classes; you won't regret it! - Ashley

Made me feel confident dancing! I would reccomend this studio to anyone looking to learn latin dance as well as to advanced dancers who want to perfect their skills. Soul and Nadège are both highly professional dancers with many years of teaching and performing experience. Their lessons are paced well and they take the time to answer questions and explain technique. They offer bilingual instruction as well as private lessons in addition to group and online classes. They are also very involved in the dance community and offer monthly socials and weekly practice nights. Overall a wonderful experience. I would reccomend signing up for a drop-in class to see for yourself!

First time I took salsa lessons. Soul and Nadege were recommended by good friends of mine, who have been taking lessons with Studio X for a number of years. During the course of the beginner session, they took us gradually through the various complexities of the movements with clear and practical descriptions, and giving enough opportunity to practice. It was easy to follow and after each lesson I felt comfortable learning and integrating more movements. The lessons were really fun, with great music and inclusive atmosphere. After about 7 lessons, I attended a social event in which I was actually able to dance salsa, and I was impressed with myself. I started this course hoping I would know some basic moves and feel comfortable dancing salsa, and Soul and Nadege helped me get there. Thanks, you guys are great!

They create a fun environment, and provide an excellent workout, which is why I've continued to take classes here for such a long time. I did not attend a dance or excercise class but I did rent one of their studios for a photography session. The staff/owners were helpful and profesional. Plenty of parking. close to downtown. Rates were good. The room I rented (Studio 2) was a little too small but that was my own fault for not visiting the premises beforehand. If you are looking for a studio space for photography, skip Studio 2 but the other 3 rooms should be fine. One thing to keep in mind for photography is the presence of mirrors on some walls and the lack of a ceiling in the rooms themselves (no ceiling bounce). Also, the doors have large windows that may need covering depending on the nature of the shoot (example fine art nude, boudoir ...). I will certainly be renting here again in the future.

This is an excellent place to rent dance studio space. Has multiple rooms of varying size all with nice floor, good lighting, full wall mirrors, (super) high ceilings, and good ventilation. Lots of free parking and easily accessible just outside of downtown Ottawa. The owners Soul and Nadège are super nice people and a pleasure to interact with. Strongly recommended.

I took fitness and dance classes with Nadège and Soul for a few years (maybe 5?). I think I tried every class they offered. They are professional, friendly and welcoming. They listen to the needs of their students and would go out of your way to make you feel welcome (they would make classes bilingual Fr-En, and even put in some words in Spanish or Creole !!!!). Fitness classes are full of energy and fun! Also, they have a great attention to details during their dance classes. If you go, they will make you learn technics and make you improve. Don’t try to hide from them in classes... They will always find you to give you personalized advice! They even do that during their online classes (COVID oblige).

In my opinion, they accomplish this by clearly explaining the steps and moves, providing great insight, tips & variations and of course by their positive high energy to ensure that everyone is enjoying themselves and having fun above all! I love their salsa & bachata styles and I honestly say that they've helped me (and so many others) tremendously through the years to nourish my own passion of dancing! We rent dance studio space from time to time, at Studio x. We use the space so that our daughter, who is a competitive dancer, has extra time and space to practice. The staff is friendly and responsive and my daughter really enjoys practicing here. The rental rates are also more than reasonable!

I've been attending studio X for a number of years. It's not close to work or home, so I do go out of my way to attend their Zumba classes, which I feel are the best in the city. I also started private salsa lessons. Nadege and Soul are great teachers who use different methods to make sure I make the most out of my sessions. And they are both warm and personable, and make the lessons fun. Would highly recommend.

I haven't participated in a fitness class since the 98. Zumba was everything i wanted it to be I was lost half the time and it didn't matter what a great experience. Recently lost a bunch of weight and needed to find something to ramp up my physical activity. Moving around to great music lead by two very charismatic and entertaining people was exactly what i needed. Damn she is sassy!!! I loved it and can't wait to go back! If you are thinking about trying it but worried about lack of coordination or not being able to follow along just go knowing you will get lost. You will struggle a bit too follow. Just keep moving and sweating and enjoy the energy flowing around the room.

When we heard someone was leaving bad reviews to our favorite Latin dance school on Google, we just had to make sure we wrote back to say how amazing they are. Nadège and Soul are the most genuine people you can find and they are always happy to teach staying sometime after classes to give us more explanations. They always give each student their attention no matter how many people they have in a class. Plus unlike so many other schools, they limit the amount of people per class to make sure they can give feedback to everyone. We couldn’t recommended them enough. Their Bachata, Salsa and Mambo (Salsa On2) classes are always so much fun with lots of technical tips and you can see their passion for dance in their teaching.

Studio X Ottawa peps are good people. Just love the instructors, Nadège & Soul. My daughter started taking Zumba classes for kids with them back when they were teaching for the City and now, years later, we are still taking all types of fitness classes with them. They have a way to adapt their classes that make you feel good at the end of each one and they don’t take themselves too seriously like so many other instructors. They have also choreographed our wedding dance, a mix of Bachata, Salsa and Kompa! Plus, it is always good to see a sister be successful. Such a great model for my daughter!

Studio X is excellent! Nadège and Soul are highly accomplished dancers with great talent and style. They are patient teachers and it is easy to learn with them. I have done both bachata and salsa at Studio X with them and would not hesitate to recommend them to everyone. Studio X delivers a very professional well run Latin dance experience. I particularly love the diversity of the classes as they are a wonderful mix of Blacks, Asians, Latinos and Whites. The Laotian Canadian and a Haitian Canadian instructors are excellent and always create a very positive environment. A “go to studio” whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced dancer.

Best Salsa class in Ottawa! The instructors just know what they are talking about and they make learning fun and easy! Nadege and Soul break down the dance steps in an easy to follow way and they let you record at the end of the class so you can practice at home. They teach both Salsa on1 and Salsa on2, and have a great way of explaining the difference between the 2 styles. You can feel their passion throughout the classes. They are also so humble. We only find out they were world champions because another student told us. Will definitely continue our Salsa lessons with them for a long time.

Poor quality and unprofessional. The one dance instructor (short dance instructor) seems to get violent and abrasive even though you are the paying customer. Doesn't seem to understand how a professional business works and what boundaries mean (and that he is just a dance instructor while trying to intimidate his clientele ). Please save your money and go somewhere else without the trashy, low class behavior exhibited by the two business owners.

Unprofessional. I was the only woman of color in one of their classes. I was made to feel very uncomfortable. Seeing that I paid for their 6 week session I still went however with each passing week it was apparent that I was unwelcome, and that diversity in their classes was something they didn't want. Very disappointing.

Poor quality. Please be careful, both dance instructors are unprofessional. Short male instructor has a very short fuse and will get very abrasive and increasingly aggressive towards certain clientele. He started yelling and shouting and getting very aggravated which was very scary as a customer to witness. Both dance instructors don't seem to be too bright about how to treat a customer. Really one of the worst businesses I have experienced in a very long time. Please be careful!

Just finishing salsa beginner with Nadège & Soul! It’s been an awesome few weeks, they are always really fun and both instructors are very informative and break down each move. In addition to this, they are very inclusive to anyone whether your lead is girl or if you’re there solo. The hour always flies by, and we look forward to it every week. Will definitely be starting intermediate classes with them in the new year!

I've been taking classes with Soul and Nadeje for sometime and this is a great place to learn to dance for every level. They are very profession, great sense of humor and full of energy. Their dancing competitions winning experience bring very easy to follow detail oriented instructions with proper technique . I would recommend this place in a heart beat. Disappointing experience. Short Asian dance instructor made several incendiary comments during dance sessions including 'no twerking' etc which was culturally offensive. Lack of professionalism by his dance partner as well. Please save your money and go to another dance studio

These instructors are energetic, competent, hilarious, down to earth, and made me feel at home from the very first class I took with them. They sincerely care about their students. And on top of all of this, they are great at what they do and incorporate a wide variety of genres in their classes from soca, hip hop, Bollywood, you name it. So happy to have found Studio X Ottawa. My partner and I decided to try them out when the pandemic started and we couldn't have been happier with our decision. They are welcoming, inclusive and their Latin dance (salsa & bachata) classes are fun with the right amount of technique. We were so happy with our dance classes that we decided to try their fitness ones. I am not ashamed to say that their Strong class kicked out b**t WOW! That is an intense HIIT class! Love it as well as their Yoga and Zumba classes! Thanks you Nadège & Soul for keeping us moving and for always pivoting so fast with all the pandemic developments. Having the option to do the classes either online and in-person is the best as we don't have any excuse not to do them. We are now exercising 3-4 times a week thanks to the VOD option as well as dancing and having the time of our life. We would recommend this amazing place and great human being to anybody who like to learn in a fun place!

Unprofessional dance instructors. It was quite a hostile environment. I advise any poc especially those who are black to stay away from this studio. There was a lot of racism on the part of their clientele as well as the two who ran the studio. Even though they were poc, they spent most of the time catering to and kissing up to their hostile clientele as they know where their bread is buttered. I heard them say several demeaning stereotypes that were plain offensive and unacceptable. They also accosted my friend who is a poc even though she was a paying customer. Just plain nasty on the part of these 'instructors.' Please use other studios in Ottawa, there are many others that are much more open minded.
