Leica Hardy runs an exceptional dance school with solid technical and artistic training, a supportive and encouraging dance community, and timely communications. For the past six years, my three daughters and I have benefited from the individualized instruction that the small class sizes facilitate. I appreciate the high standards, with low pressure, that this school cultivates, a testament to Leica and her team's excellence in teaching. While I didn't need convincing that we were getting the best value in the city from a dance school, how Leica has led her team and students throughout the COVID-19 pandemic offers another example of excellence from this school. From the onset of the pandemic, Leica communicated with her students. Leica promptly and efficiently moved classes to Zoom during lockdowns, and she implemented clear safety measures for in-class sessions. Leica Hardy School of Dance has continued to offer hybrid class options to meet individual and family needs. Classes continued, students completed examinations with The Society of Russian Ballet, and a Zoom recital culminated the 2020-21 academic year. Leica offered community, consistency, and support at the highest level when the world fell apart. She is always there for her students. As we enter fall 2021, there is still much uncertainty around this pandemic. As a parent, I have peace of mind knowing that dance will remain a constant for my children at LHSD. Leica Hardy School of Dance has been a safe place to learn, grow, and explore our love for dance.

Our daughter has been dancing with Leica Hardy (ballet and jazz) for over 8 years now and we have seen her grow her coordination skills, strength and confidence through it. The classes hit the perfect combination of discipline and fun. The teachers are very professional and teach excellent technique but also have a good sense of humour. It will give a strong foundation to students who want to commit the effort all the way to professional dancing, but it's also a great school for students who simply want to get to the best of their abilities in the time they have available. Whatever your goal is, it will be a rewarding experience.

I’ve taken classes across Canada and in London, England. A teacher like Leica is rare and you are incredibly lucky if you get a chance to learn from her. She has an incredible knowledge of anatomy and physics that she uses when explaining movements. She explains things in a way that make far more sense than many other teachers. I’ve lost track of the number of “light bulb” moments I’ve had with her during our lessons. My only regret is that I did not meet her earlier. The quality of the classes are bar none.

Mollie Oates-Johnson

My name is Mollie Oates-Johnson and I am a proud alumna of LHSD. I started dancing with Leica when I was three years old, and practically grew up at the school. Leica is an amazing and attentive teacher who is excellent at developing strong technique in her students, but who also nurtures the artistic and performance qualities. The school was like my second home, and the warm, friendly environment, with small class sizes, allowed for individualized focus and a safe environment to experiment and try new things. LHSD provides high quality training in ballet, modern, and jazz for all age ranges, and students are surely to improve, grow, and progress within each class. Two years ago, I was accepted into the Professional Division at the Alberta Ballet School with a scholarship and I would like to thank Leica for helping me on my journey and continuing to support me in my training. I have now been training at the Alberta Ballet School for two years, and will be continuing my training in their Post Graduate program this coming year. As I continue to pursue my dream, I will always be forever thankful for my LHSD family.

Maggie Oates-Johnson

Hi I'm Maggie Oates-Johnson and I've been dancing at LHSD since I was 3 years old. It’s such an amazing dance studio and second home with small class sizes and hands on individual instruction from amazing teachers. I was able to progress in the program from the recreational to the pre-professional level and was able to complete all of my Russian society of ballet exams. Leica Hardy has helped guide and shape me along the way and is a continual support in my dance journey; I will be attending the Alberta Ballet school Professional division this fall. I strongly recommend this dance school and it’s supportive environment and high quality training, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. LHSD is an great environment to improve and grow in your dance training in various styles, while also having tons of fun and growing strong friendships and mentorships that will last a life time!

Our daughter has been dancing with Leica for 7 years. The teachers at this studio focus on the well being of the whole student. They combine excellence in dance with a personalized approach for the individual dancer. Smaller class sizes means your child is not lost in the back row, but is getting those corrections vital to building technique.
