this store was horrible.... it was the first experience for my 3 years old and she was so excited to buy ballet clothes. The lady who told she is the owner (!) talked with us very snobby and said to close my daughters mask she cried and i asked for couple minutes to calm her but she didnt stop and afraid her at the end i said she is crying and she will have a bad memory can you please skip this topic for some seconds please andher answer was " i don't care her" !!!!! I said she is a toddler and she is crying because of you and you are saying i dont care her it is unblievable!!!!! she was sooo rude and unscrupulous !!!! I hope new dance clothes stores will be open in island and this horrible lady will stop thinking that she can behave like everyone. I wish for a better and more quality community....

I bought my first pair of character shoes there. I walked in and said "I need a pair of male character shoes" they were great. They explain the pros and cons of all the brand's of character shoes. Let me try on very different ones, and gave me lots of helpful feedback. They didn't have my size in the style I wanted. But they ordered it on line, and called me when they arrived. They fit perfectly!

Staff came across as very snobby. I was there with my partner and the sales rep talked down to her for no reason. Was not actually knowledgeable about shoe material/longevity. Bad experience, I'm disappointed that there isn't another dance shop in Victoria, because Toes N' Taps is not held accountable. My partner was a professional ballet dancer (moved away from dancing ballet because of this kind of toxic environment), with over 20 years of dance training. Unfortunately there isn't any other place to get ballet flats in Victoria.

What a horribly run business. Rude, pushy and arrogant. And while I'm all for masks and being covid safe - I think it's horrid to force girls as young as 3 years old to wear, simply because it's "your shop, so your rules". Our wonderful chief medical officer of this province has been very clear - children this young should not be wearing masks. And when these poor little girls do comply with your rules - you go out of your way to boss them around and berate them if it happens to slide off their nose. Someone that works with children needs to know that a single bad experience in a setting like this could have big impacts on an impressionable child. We should all follow the provincially mandate health rules - but we don't get to make up our own. We will never shop here again and certainly share the experience with others. Are your arbitrary rules worth the $1000's to $10,000's in lifetime revenue? Take note - this is how NOT to navigate a pandemic as a small business.

I went to this store recently and had a very pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They take pointe shoe fitting very seriously and you can trust they know what they are talking about. They answered all my questions and were very helpful. I even brought my 2 year old and baby into the store and they were so sweet to them. Thank you toes and taps for all your help!

We went in to purchase ballet slippers for my 4 yr old daughter and I tried to explain to the woman (owner I think) that my daughter was not able to wear a mask but she became very pushy and started lecturing my daughter about how it’s “her store and her rules”. We left because we had no choice and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth because my daughter and I had been nothing but respectful and apologetic but it is not ok with me for anyone to begin lecturing my daughter. She is a child, it is not your place to teach her anything, and if I said she’s not able to wear a mask, then trust that I have tried and don’t assume your bullying a 4 yr old will somehow work. Won’t go back. Go to elles dance wear, they are very kind and helpful, and allowed my daughter to enter without a mask saying they understood some kids were not able to wear one.

Toes 'N' Taps (TNT) has been a very important part of our dance community for decades. I've been getting almost all my ballet, jazz and character dancewear at TNT for more than 20+ years - including as a professional ballet dancer and teacher. I've also bought beautiful costumes from them for my students. They have an excellent selection, knowledgeable staff, and access to top dancewear brands across the world, including from Canadian companies. Thank you for everything TNT. Recommend 100%.

I bought a pair of shoes, and wore them for half an hour before they began to hurt my feet. I went to return them the next day for the next size up and they refused because "they had formed to my foot." Absolutely ridiculous since the toes were reinforced. My feet feel like they have been formed to the shoes.

Their enthusiasm for all things DANCE is palpable, and you can't help but feel their commitment to getting their customers into the exactly-right gear for their needs. They are also very experienced with young kids, which was really helpful for this non-dance mom. I had no idea what my daughter needed for her classes and the staff had us all set up in no time. And while this store has been in business for many many years, the owners are always up to date in the styles, brands, and trends that they bring into the store. Thanks, everyone!

Unfortunately this is the only store in Victoria that sells pointe shoes. But the owner is very arrogant and rude. She's over the top aggressive when it comes to the mask issues ( which are no longer a mandate). Especially with children, which are not legally required to wear them if under 12 any way. My daughter will be needing her 5th pair of pointe shoes soon and I found out that Elleswear dance will order them in if you know your size. They are a much nicer business to deal with. I will even drive to body rhapsody in Duncan or other up island dance stores before I'll go to toes and taps anymore. They really need to change their ways. Avoid if you can!

I won't get into this store anymore. It is the only store I have ever seen that it doesn't allow customers to try the shoes, especially when the customer went into the store in a big shower day and the customer was polite. What is the meaning for a physical store than a online store if you can not try with higher price? They are arrogant and rude. Dance is for pretty life, but they are not. I have to give one star because there is no minus to choose.

Don’t shop here unless you like having your young child being harassed the second they walk through the door by a rude and pompous employee ( or owner?) my daughter is under the age of the mask mandate and this store has some wacky rule where they force young children to wear a mask while shopping, however when I explained that my daughter is under the age she told me that my child was big. Not exactly a warm and friendly welcoming into a local shop where I had planned to buy two pairs of skating tights and a skate dress - Which by the way were marked up $30-$40 more than what I could just order online but I like to try and shop local first. I wish Elleswear had what I was looking for- I went there first and the nice lady working recommended “toes and taps” would have more figure skating tights and dresses. I will never go to this shop ever again nor will I ever recommend anybody to shop here. If you need dancewear seriously go to Elleswear it has a better dance selection and NICE workers. I should of read the google reviews first before I wasted my time driving to “toes and taps” and also trying to find a parking spot.
