The apsolute best and most versatile studio in Victoria. Offering an abundance of different style classes and workshops- there is always something fun to take at Amethyst ! I LOVE every intructor I’ve met there, and am always welcomed with a smiling face. 10/10 would recommend. Also trans and LGBT friendly !! ????

Amethyst is a well put together and easily located studio. The various classes are directed by teachers who are subcontractors, so you will always get an individual experience from each teacher and class rather than a cookie cutter feel. You can try them all to find your favourite teacher and style! I hope you enjoy the variety and accessibility of this downtown Victoria dance studio as much as I do! Dirty Dollie

Amethyst is offering aerial hoops by a guy named Matthew. I met Matthew in early October 2016, and at that time he only had completed two beginner's classes. There is an epidemic in circus arts of unaccredited, extremely under-qualified people taking advantage of others who don't know any better. This is dangerous and puts Amethyst in a position of extreme liability. If you are taking an aerial class, ask for your teacher's credentials. A weekend course is not a real credential, a 'certificate' off of someone's printer after doing a 'clinic' with a private teacher is not a real credential. There are a handful of places in Canada that provide real credentials - like the National Circus School. Make sure you find a teacher who has a real diploma, who has real circus or other professional aerial experience. Not someone who did a weekend course on Saltspring and calls themselves a 'professional'. Matthew can't even hold the pose correctly in his ad photo. Imagine the danger he is putting you in.

I love coming to dance at Amethyst. Lauren has broken me out of my shell. They often have a variety of workshops going on and are flexible with my schedule. I would recommend to anyone.

I took Acro Yoga classes at Amethyst and loved every minute of it. Everyone in the studio, both employees and other clients, were all very friendly, supportive, and helpful. Especially for someone like me who has never taken an acrobatics/dance class before I felt very welcomed into their little family. I would recommend anyone looking to try something new or looking for a new place to dance/get fit to check out Amethyst Dance and Fitness. You won't be disappointed.

I just wanted to say what an amazing instructor Maddy is! I have been taking her classes for approximately a little over 3 years now. She provides a positive and encouraging environment for her students to learn exotic Russian pole. She uses humour to get us to laugh. I love this class as it increases your self-esteem and self-confidence. If anyone is looking to take a class at the studio. I would highly recommend the pole classes. You are encouraged from the start to be the best that you can be. If you are a beginner and afraid of taking that first step. Don't be. Just come to the class with a can do attitude and prepare for an amazing time. The time goes by so fast with the warm up, choreo, and a proper warm down.

I have taken several classes with various instructors at Amethyst: yoga, aerial yoga, erotic dance and belly dancing. What I noticed the most at the studio was how friendly and welcome everyone is regardless of shape or size. I have actually gained body confidence while attending classes which is something I attribute to the awesome instructors. There is a wide variety of classes to choose and I would encourage anyone to give them a try <3

Maddy is an amazing instructor! I absolutely love the beginner/intermediate classes and would recommend this for anyone interested in picking up pole dancing.

I’ve taken yoga here, rented space for artist use (photography), as well as undergone hypnosis for smoking. Customer service and email/phone communication were always prompt and very professional, studios were clean and well designed, the staff are very friendly and qualified, and the location is excellent. Highly recommend.

The environment has always been so friendly and inviting and all of the teachers have been magnetic , fun and professional. My partner and I have both attended a few classes at Amethyst and we just love it! The instructors know their stuff and give you a full class of knowledge and partiapation. We did acro yoga and arial yoga, both were fun and relaxating. We highly recommend signing up and see for yourself why they are rated so good!
