After graduating from my competitive childhood dance studio I found myself struggling to find a way to keep dancing and The Code was there for me! I enjoy the classes. But I had a groupon and then I signed up for VIP classes and they started charging me too early. I got the first half of my refund 3 months after they over charged me. I have waited another 2 months for the second half when she said she would refund the second half a week off. I think I've been more than patient but this is ridiculous.

Beware when you sign up for recurring monthly automatic payments as they make it very difficult to cancel and actually stop the payments!! I can see now that there are other people having problems cancelling their monthly charges and continue to be charged! This is really really shady. At first when I joined this group it was a 5 star experience. However, after a year with them, when I tried to quit and cancel, it dropped to a 1 star experience. It took me 3 months of messaging the company, emailing the manager, going in and talking to various dance instructors (also waited for 2 hours that day because a class was cancelled and nobody was in with no notice anywhere) and finally giving up and just filing a return through my credit card company to actually have the charges stopped and previous charges refunded. Gave me a massive headache as they promised to cancel and refund everytime yet still seeing the charge the next month and no refunds in sight. If you do sign up for recurring payments, just make sure your credit card company will back you if something like this happens. Don't just call, make sure to leave a paper or email train, recording or something that you can show.

I was so nervous my first time coming to this studio because I have never danced before in my life! But a friend convinced me and I’ve been hooked ever since! I love that there are a wide variety of beginner classes because I have been able to try out a bunch of different genres!! The teachers are fantastic and so helpful! It’s really such a positive environment there and love that the owner will get to know you by name. I love to dance there but what keeps me coming back is the wonderful Dance Code community!!

Dance Code is a great studio focused on everything dance. They really have a dance class for everyone. Being able to drop into any style of dance is perfect. We can really try a lot of different styles or spend time perfecting a specific one. They have classes for all levels and even if you have never danced before, the culture there is so friendly they make anyone feel comfortable and welcome. I have decades of dance experience and my wife had no dance experience and we both found it so enjoyable to join classes that we were interested in. Great place, great classes, great instructors and great people.

Dropped off my child, a minor, for class as usual and there was no instructor or staff anywhere in the building. My child did not have a cell phone, so could not contact me. Thankfully a couple of parents showed up a few minutes later and stayed with my child. The two parents made numerous phone calls to the owner Sarah, none of which were answered. The dance instructor finally showed up 20 mins before the class was to end, stating he was sleeping. When I addressed the owner, Sarah about what had happened, all I got was lie after lie. There was two adults there, who verified there was clearly no one at the studio. The studio is in kind of a sketchy area. You do not want to send your child there. Based on the class sizes 3-6 students it should have been a red flag. Obviously we all left.

No one answers phone, or returns messages. Costumer service is very poor. The beginner classes are not beginner and instructors do not have patience. Maybe for an experienced dancer, but not for a beginner.

Fit-City Guide

This is one of the most talked about and visited dance studios in Edmonton. With a wide range of drop-in classes, a plethora of dance styles, and a vibe that oozes inclusiveness, it's easy to understand why. We tried the Burlesque Boom class which is basically a bootcamp style cardio class with elements of sexy burlesque woven in, and we also snuck in a lil' sample of the Beginner Heels class which is exactly what it sounds like - a dance class in heels - nuff said. Both were super fun, challenging and we worked up a serious sweat, although we would have loved to see a bit more Burlesque in the BB class. We docked half a star for location and for the limited pricing options but loved everything else and we'd definitely come back for more!

Dancecode is not just a studio, it is a place where you can have fun and most importantly be YOU. Being a instructor here is a blessing. My best friend and I signed up for the one month intro and we are hooked!! All the teachers all so welcoming and supportive. The classes are beyond fun and we always leave with the biggest smiles on our faces (even when we can’t seem to crack the choreography) it doesn’t matter if you’ve never danced in your life or are a trained dancer, you’ll learn some fun moves and get a great workout in a fun and non judgemental studio ❤️ Ps- the classrooms are totally Covid friendly and allow for social distancing ????

The owner Sarah is truly kind hearted and made me feel so good about myself even though I'm not the greatest dancer. I'm sure I will improve with a few more classes. At 30 years old I never saw myself starting dance, but one day I saw an advertisement for 'body beautiful burlesque' at dance code studio and me and some friends decided to try it out for six weeks. Six weeks later we all signed up for the next level. Six weeks after that I bought a membership. These days I dance a few days a week. I've tried heels, pumps, street jazz, contemporary and hip hop. I can honestly say all of the teachers at the studio have been amazing and supportive. I'm now registered in the codettes program and for the first time in my life I've gotten on stage and danced for an audience. I would 100% reccomend this studio to everyone from green as grass beginners to seasoned veterans of the dance world! Everyone is so supportive and friendly. I learn something new every class and beyond that the studio is affordable. I'll for sure be dancing for many more years to come because of dance code studio!
