Filthy change room and washroom. This is a dance school for professionals, so don’t get tricked into taking their “beginner” class unless you have too much time and money. Very misleading classes as some are doing head-spins or freestyle in their “first” class because everyone already has some kind of dance background. There are many other options like iDance or RSVP 33 or DanZa Productions that offer the real beginner’s class!

I had bought the 3 class starter pack for $35 and I was pretty happy about the good price. When I had bought it I was not told that it expired in one month so I had only used one class. When I went to use it again, I was unable to because it had expired. I was so displeased and had to pay $20 for a class that I had basically already paid for. It was such a waste of money and if I was properly informed about the pass I would of redeemed my 3 classes.

I'm the most awkward turtle and felt super intimidated trying a dance class! However, the instructors are hilarious, fun and ooze with passion; they constantly assure beginners to have fun instead of overthinking, which really helps ease the nerves. One star off because lately, the classes that I like to take (Grooving or Hip Hop Intro with JP Tarlit) is always sold out unless you arrive 30 mins before the class, which isn't always possible for me as I often work late in Richmond. I'm hoping they will have the ability to expand into another studio some day! If not, a temporary suggestion is to allow students to pre-pay and reserve their spot on their app (with a cancellation fee) so that those coming from far away can save the drive if the class is sold out.

Took a class with Ai and Eric on Sunday and it was so fun. During the pandemic, I have missed going to raves and festivals and was excited to get my fix for dancing to loud music and to learn actual grooves and steps instead of dancing however I feel like. I took the Intro to Grooving class and loved it. Ai is an especially warm and fun instructor. I had a hard time keeping time and going left or right in sync with everyone else. Ai let me know when I finally was getting something without singling me out in front of the class. I definitely feel welcomed back. Although, I will note, I don't think this is a class someone who has never danced in their life would enjoy, if they are looking for step-by-step instruction. It felt more like an open-level where beginners were welcome. I spoke with a few women and they had all said they were classically trained in ballet, new to hip-hop, but definitely had a leg up on me and other beginners in the class who were just trying to find the rhythm and flexibility to do the moves. I'm curious to try other beginner classes in the city but will definitely return to HDC for Ai's and Eric's classes.

I do not know about this place, l have never been there.., just want to apologize for my earlier 3 star review. Even though l have never been to the Harbour Dance Centre , l could tell from my vantage point it is a popular place ( judging by the enthusiastic customers waiting to enter ) . I have a gimpy leg and the world is a better place when l don't dance ????

Lots of styles of dances that you can choose from. There are classes throughout the entire week so lots of choice and selection. Good for all levels.

Over crowded, unprofessional. Went to a workshop but hard to follow along with the guy teaching as they shoved as many people as they could in one room. They said I could get a refund but they won’t give a full refund, just partial. They said since I signed up online so they will process the refund online. I have been calling them to follow up since I don’t see a refund In my account and they keep telling me the owner is not here and they can’t process it. It’s a pain to get a hold of anybody who can help. The place isn’t managed well at all and is a fire hazard code violation with the amount of people they shove in there.

Great place to start your dream. I attended Eric's hiphop workshop for 2mo and I didn't know how to dance before I start. With chilled vibes you can definitely enjoy the dance no matter how old you are.

Lauren Maynard is an amazing teacher and a fantastic human. She held a dance class on the weekend that was in support of the Aussie bushfires.. the class was fun and knowing she was donating all the money from class fees to a good cause was the icing on the cake.

I really love taking classes here!! There are so many talented dancers here, always feel inspired after taking a class! However, some classes tends to get really crowded which makes it hard to learn! Some of my favourites teachers are Christina Schell, Joe Tuliao, Jojo [Sexy Street Classes] !!

This studio offers a variety of dance classes and a variety of levels. They are taught by well-known dancers. However, there is no windows or ventilation in the room on the second floor so it is always so stuffy and warm. Classes do not always start on time either. I would say this studio is fairly beginners-friendly. Remember to bring some water to class! Enjoy and dance!

I walked by this place a million times before I knew it existed, and its way bigger than it looks from the outside. Tons of classes offered throughout the day, with many different styles. 3classes for $30 for newcomers. I loved my sexy street class with Nathan. He's hilarious, talented, a wonderful teacher and good at making you feel beautiful :) good vibes for sure!

I've very much enjoyed my experience here. Their app is well made and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I agree that, as a complete beginner, even their beginner classes were intimidating because some of the more seasoned dancers often stop by and a lot of students have been taking the "beginner" class for a while. The "absolute beginner" classes are definitely easier to swallow as someone who has no experience in dance (like me!), but I've gained more confidence with each class and despite messing up 99% of all the moves, I've gotten a little over the fear of looking ridiculous. The teachers are nice and will answer any questions you might have. It's a great workout! I will point out that a lot of students tend to film the classes and some of these videos end up on YouTube. To be honest, I wish they wouldn't film the class or at least promise to blur all our faces out. Maybe that could be a rule to implement at the studio? I try to avoid the cameras like the plague, but the phones are everywhere in the small dance rooms. I know a lot of them film it just for themselves, to practice later. I suppose if it's made into a policy that none of that content can be shared unless they get written consent from all, I'd feel a bit more comfortable. Thanks for reading!

awesome experience! we had a bachelorette party here and did a one hour dance class with Jen (hip hop dance). She was so full of energy and made it such a fun experience for us and taught us a dance routine! thanks for the great time!

The staff and choreographers are both friendly and informative. My daughter has really enjoyed the last couple of days and plans on taking more classes. While she only wants to focus on hip hop, there are a great variety of dance classes for her age group in the junior intensive summer program.

Harbour Dance Centre is my favourite Vancouver dance studio! Every teacher is so friendly and I just loved the open and welcoming atmosphere of the studio. Definitely a great place to dance and meet people in the dance community. Incredible variety of classes. Lots of great year-round and summer programs for dancers seeking more of a commitment. The location is great and very transit-friendly.

The best dance studio you'll find in Vancouver. They have top notch instructors here for just about every dance form. My favorites are Bollywood (taught by the world-renowned Shiamak school) and salsa. I was also hoping to do hip hop here, but it was too overcrowded.

Tried the Grooving class today, but unlike what is advertised on the website, this is NOT for absolute beginners! Class started 15 minutes late and stuffed 50 people in a humid room with no air conditioning. The instructor pretty much catered to his returning customers who already knew what they were doing, and even said he was upping the ante to keep them engaged and we should be admiring them if we were new! It was like Zumba with no instruction whatsoever and you could barely see the instructor who melted in to the thickest part of the crowd. If you have two left feet and want an introduction to moving your body and dance, you should look elsewhere. There were counts, impromptu routines (routines are hard enough for a novice, but try keeping up when the instructor does whatever he feels like and expects you to tag along and know the moves!), and some hand gestures that somehow you were expected to interpret and understand mid routine. But hey, if you're a natural, you may love it. It just definitely wasn't worth the 45 minute drive for me!

Amazing dance studio for adults that allow drop in classes - teachers are the best that you can find in Vancouver for the genres of hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, etc. Parking is a pain though, thus transit is easier. Dance environment can seem a bit cliquey and not the most friendly unless you are "in" with the crowd.

This place has been around for as long as I can remember and it's always a fun time! Wide variety of dance styles and skilled choreographers, eventful schedule from early morning to evening. There's something for everyone, from beginner to advanced. Best dance studio in the city. Recommend!

I attended Kokoro Modern by Ms. Barbara Bourget. She certainly lacks appropriate social skills as a teacher. While one student was dancing in the group, she suddenly grabbed her waist behind her back. That was completely a harassment. We're not sure about her sexual orientation and it's not our business, but she needs to learn how to interact with other people in a more respectful manner. Also, she doesn't give us instructions at all. She just say "Not good" to us. This army-style abuses makes us lose our confident. I don't recommend this class to anyone.

I love this place with all my heart!! My only wish is that they had more classes! Some of the hip hop and sexy street classes are so crowded that you can't execute the choreography without smacking into your neighbour. If they offered even more classes, particularly during the middle of the day, I would be very happy! Note that as others have mentioned, the "intro" classes aren't what most of us would call intro, but they do offer some "absolute beginner" classes for the true newbies.
