Lori is very confrontational, condescending and has NO people skills. During our brief time at this studio, I experienced several micro and macro aggressions. For the sake of brevity I won’t detail each one. But I can tell you calling my child a clown (when she laughed loudly at something), telling a 3 year old “no coughing” when she coughed under her masked after running around for a a full song (and likely needed water and was definitely not sick) is inappropriate. The last straw was rudely interrupting me with “CUT THE CAMERA!!” to lecture me on the vaccination rules when I had been by the window for maybe 30 seconds, had my vax proof ready, and was not violating any rules. Worst yet, I didn’t observe other families being harassed or spoken down to week after week. Could it have something to do with the fact that my child was the only black child in class??? Lori is rude , terrible at dealing with humans (both adults and little kids) and is on on some delusional power trip. I’m not spending my money to be treated that way. Parents beware!!!
Since I’m unable to respond to your post, I’ll add my response here: Can Dance Academy Lori, I came into the studio briefly (by the door) as per your policy that states clearly that parents may come in from time to time to check on their child and take photos. So please don’t make it seem like I was breaking some rule when I came to the door. Your policy allowing parents to do just that is in writing, undisputed and not contingent on an “invitation”. Furthermore, you never mention anything about another shy child nor wanting me to leave the lobby. There was another parent there who was pleasant and was distanced with her child. So please don’t be misleading! Finally, I’m always respectful of Covid policies and procedures and I’m very responsible about observing them and keeping myself and others safe. Your inability to communicate in a non-arrogant manner is the key issue here, so try try to pass this off on Covid. Full-stop. As I said, I had my proof of vaxx readily available. Furthermore, if you think merely asking people if they are vaxxed is discharging your obligation you are wrong. But I don’t think you really were concerned about fulfilling those obligations (or you would ask to see proof of vaxx), as you ought to have done. Rather, you wanted an opportunity to power trip and be rude. Again, there’s a way to speak to people and it makes all the difference! But it seems you think different rules apply to different people. Well, I’ll take my money elsewhere. And I agree, I will find another studio that meets my needs ie being spoken to in a respectful, non-confrontational manner, with standard policies for all attendees.
Also, please check your facts, I never emailed “complaining that I couldn’t come in inside to watch”. I was merely asking if there’s a window we can watch from the outside of the building or a feed to watch online. As I had never been to the studio and didn’t realize at that time that it’s a windowless cramped box. I was trying to figure out if there was any other way to be able to check on my 3 year old rather than blindly send her into a room. You shouldn’t be dishonest…but I guess I can add that quality to the list of bullets I dodged by leaving this studio.
There are many things we can blame on Covid but your terrible personality is not one of them! Stop making excuses for it.
