I found everything arranged so it's easy to navigate. The only very important bit to know is that this airport closes after the last flight around midnight for 4 hours until around 4-4:30 am. They have no 24 hour accommodations so I was essentially left with no place to go in the 0 degree weather. It was my fault for not researching the airport info. Just something to remember.

It's a small airport so you can pretty much show up half hour before boarding and be on time to catch your flight but with being a small airport the amenities on the inside of security are few and closed at normal business hours; so if you have a late flight you might be using the vending machine or leaving security. If you fly in, take a pic with the polar bear. Make sure you pre book your rental car so they can warm up the car for you. Also bring your jacket on the plane. The walk from the plane to the building is open to the elements. The people were super friendly and make a great first and last impression to Yellowknife.

Before security is great, there's a cafe and a Quiznos as well as decent bathroom, ATM and giftshop. Afterwards, not so much. Even pre-covid I don't think I've EVER seen the Cafe open. It just sits there taunting you with its coffee machines, sandwiches and other treats to drool over. Owner of that should seriously consider installing a coffee machine and a vending machine for food once covid is over because right now it's making no money. That being said there is a place to fill up water now so not all bad. Wifi is good too.

Small and cute airport. Our flights were delayed for several hours last minute due to changes in weather which is normal in this province. We were able to find some cool souvenirs here to bring home. It's very close to the town. Hope to visit it again for more aurora sightings.

ACSTA security. This is the security company which does all the screening of passengers at this airport. One of the worst company ever on this planet. Friendly yes, like the whole town.. My complaint is no drinking water available to carry on the plane. Choices are bottled water out of a machine for $2.25, or drawing water from a motion-sensor mixed (warm) tap in the bathroom. Please put in a fountain or a bottle-filler.

Worse experience in the airport. The line up was super long and slow, only However they have STUPID RULES, they ask you to put all of ur toiletries in to a tiny plastic bag (one bag per person). Also they have ILL MANNERED SECURITY STUFF, THE OLD WHITE LADY WHO IS 5.9 FOOT WITH SHORT BLOND HAIR AND SMALL EYES, I wish I could know her name because she is rude and arrogant. There is NO carry on baggage information board around the security check in door, the stuff does not explain anything to you either. I will never come to this freezing stupid place again.
