My mom and I visited Kindred Spirit for my grade eight graduation dress. We heard of Kindred Spirit, but did not know what to expect. First of all let me just say that the service here deserves way more than five stars. Right from entering the store I already felt like a princess. They treat you better than any store that we've ever been in. They respected our price range and showed us a variety of dresses that were all so gorgeous. After putting on a dress they would show me the full picture by putting up my hair, adding jewellery, shoes, and a sparkly clutch. We did not feel pressured to buy anything. We ended up buying my grad dress from Kindred Spirit, knowing that we would not find a better dress or better service anywhere else. Just as we were leaving, my mom thanked them for the impeccable service, as our experience there was totally unbelievable. The ladies there were so thankful to hear this and gave us hugs. We highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a special dress for a special occasion!

Going grad dress shopping, I didn't expect to be indirectly insulted while in the store. The employees apparently are not aware that having a loud conversation bashing university of Waterloo students has its consequences. If they are going to rip apart Waterloo students, and then specifically all the supposedly unattractive engineering students, they should at least do so while a UW grad dating an engineering graduate isn't shopping for a dress there. Sorry I wasn't the Laurier student you wanted, you won't have to worry about touching my ugly money ever again.

Amazing experience shopping for a prom dress. Two dresses in and I found my dress. Customer service was amazing, I was at other stores and I felt very rushed. Prices are amazing and made shopping so much easier. The store assistants let me take my time, and get a feel of the dress, they helped us figure out jewelry, shoes, and everything else to go with the dress. It was a very personable experience and took a lot of nerve off of trying to find the perfect dress. Thank you!!!!

Went to find a dress as a guest at my cousins wedding. Dresses were nice but I felt they weren’t worth the price tag. The staff were nice. It’s ridiculous that I wasn’t allowed to take a picture of the dress to show my mom…theres no way Im buying a $300 dress when I cant even take a picture to get peoples opinions. Not sure how they stay in business.

Today i went to shop for my grade 8 graduation dress. As soon as i walked in somebody was helping me. within 10 minutes or less i was already in a dressing room. when i came out there was a lady there to zip me up. the first dress i tried on was gorgeous and she told me that. when i came out in my second dress she didn't bother zipping it up because it made me look short and i was thankful that she told me that. the third dress was the one. she even brought over a gorgeous necklace (which i ended up buying, and they gave me it half off!) and put it on for me. when i was paying, all the ladies in the store told me how stunning i was and how beautiful it looked on me. they told me i better come back and bring them a picture of me on my graduation day. they checked in the system to make sure nobody at my school had the same colour dress as me in the style i bought, and i was good to go. Best experience ever, i can't wait for my next occasion to go back.

I found a beautiful prom dress here but was very disappointed with the customer service!! When I tried the dress on, the employee told me no one at my school would have the same dress (or anything similar at all). After I paid for it, she told me it also comes in blue and they will sell the blue version to someone at my school. There are plenty of wonderful dress shops that do not sell the same colour or style to anyone at your school!! I'm also very glad I measured my waist when I got home (before I paid for it, just to make sure) because I was measured wrong in the store for my size. How can you sell a dress after being 3 inches off?!? One of the employees also believed that even though I am very clearly a size 2 bust, a size 4 would be better because it would make my breasts look bigger. Excuse me?? One more thing! I have a friend that had the same bad experience ... they told her she was too skinny to wear a certain dress! Overall, I didn't enjoy my experience and wish I found my dress at another store. Some amazing dress stores for prom shopping are La Creme (in St. Jacobs), Juniper (London) and Elizabeth Noel (London).

Today I went out Prom dress shopping and Kindred Spirit was the first store. They were so friendly when they greater me and with the first dress I fell in love. The first prom dress I tried on was the one for sure. The service was amazing and everyone was really friendly.

This is the absolute best dress store I have ever been to ( trust me if you knew me you would know how many I’ve been to ???? ) This beautiful little enchanting store, captured my eye two years ago! All of the dresses in the front window are dripping and glitter and gold and sparkle and elegance and glam. I had to go in! The store is clean, bright and well lit. With a variety of gorgeous dresses for any occasion. The ladies at the front are wonderful there so welcoming and polite and helpful. They really take your time to understand what you’re looking for. And really take out the time all three of them run and look through all of the racks and each come up with a variety of different dresses to try on. They’re so professional and compassionate about their jobs and making girls actually feel like princesses! ( wait till you see my dress ) ☺️ Debbie, sally and Tina you made my dreams come true and my night sparkle, it was a fairytale. Everyone Complemented my dress. I want to thank you ladies all! Every time I come in it’s like my own personal cheerleading! I was so flattered that you both remembered me from the previous year!!!!!!

Horrible experience. Remember the scene from pretty woman at the store? Pretty much like that.Ladies were nice as long as it suited them. I was shopping for a bridesmaid dress, the bride lives two hours away so I asked to take a picture so the bride could approve before I spent a ton of money. Nope. No refunds and no pictures. I understand there are rules, but every once in a while there are also exceptions depending on the situation. Then I saw a pair of shoes that I fell in love with. The lady told me they don't have my size and are not able to order my size. When I went to try them on (they were only half size bigger which sometimes suits me fine) she tried to stop me because they are not my size, I told her it's okay I would still like to see how they look on. She went and got another sales lady who then tried to physically take them off of me. I flinched away asked if there was a rule that said I can't buy shoes that are too big for me? When she said no I told her to then let me try them on in peace. When I took them off I got a pen out of my purse to write the make of the shoe and see if I could order them elsewhere since this store claimed they couldn't, and the sales lady snatched the shoes away from me as fast as she could. I was livid by the time I left, never going back, will not spend a penny in that place. Later found out my co-worker took her daughter here and a sales lady told her "this store is out of your pay grade" in front of her 12 year old! These people are sick and twisted and should be shut down. No pretty dress is worth this kind of treatment.

I was here a few weeks ago to try on wedding dresses and I really did like one, however I am extremely discouraged by their "no pictures" policy sign. I have found that when I tried on dresses at a different shop, that no matter what I thought looking in the mirror, when I saw the pictures later on, I was horrified by how they looked, and I was able to say a quick NO. So even though my first impression of the dress at Kindred spirit was good, I can never confidently purchase a dress here without being given the option to have a picture to provide me with an outer point of view to help me make a big decision. I am also sad that I will never really be able to see how that dress looked on me (and if it passed both the mirror and camera test) and that I can't compare it with other things I have tried. Other than that, I do really like this shop and the ladies that work there, but this policy is really anti-consumer, and I don't know if it's worth going back. ☹️

I had an amazing experience at this dress shop. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with smiles and got help right away. They had a gorgeous selection of dresses. The ladies working were so nice and so helpful. I am so satisfied with the customer service I received. I have been prom shopping and this was the fourth store I went too and all I can say is I wish I had went sooner! I will definitely be returning.

The girl was rude, rolled her eyes when I said I don't have a budget and that we wanted my daughter to try all the dresses we had. She rushed us through and we decided to leave. My 13 year old daughter even felt uncomfortable and it was the worst experience ever trying on dresses for the first time. She said she never wants to go back there or recommend this place!

You ladies are the warmest, friendliest staff we've seen in a long time:) We came in a little late but they greeted us with big smiles and welcomed us in. They picked up my personality and size right away and brought out the perfect dress (first one!) They also kept in contact with us so that I would have the perfect shoes and accessories. I absolutely love going to Kindred Spirit. I just had my senior prom and got my dress there. Since then, both me and my older sister have gotten our grade 8 graduation dresses, prom dresses, and semi formal dresses from here. The ladies are so nice and hilarious and honestly brighten my day whenever I go inside. The dresses are gorgeous and everyone who works there knows which dresses would look perfect on you. I have bought at least 2 dresses that I never would have tried on unless they told me to haha. Anyways, definitely check out Kindred Spirit, you won't regret it!

This boutique is such a gem in Waterloo - the ladies make you feel right at home and they’re so delightful and happy with you. I first got a beautiful blush pink dress in 2006 for my Quince, and today I returned to shop for my wedding dress - I knew I had to come back! Beautiful high quality gowns, that will make you feel like a million bucks, but won’t cost that.

i had an amazing experience at Kindred Spirits. The girls there were extremely helpful. I told them a general idea of what i wanted for a prom dress (and i didn't give them much to go off lol) and they found me the perfect dress. After trying many stores looking for a dancing dress, my wife and I came to Kindred Spirit on our dance instructor's recommendation. Found the right dress first try! The dresses are all unique. Buying a dress gives a 50% discount on the jewellery and purses at any time in the future which is a cool bonus. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's also great to support a local independent business.

My grade 8 girl needed a dress and my oh my did we search far and wide. Finally found this sweet store and was SO impressed with their friendly service and warm hearts. (wish we found it sooner lol) This was the most pleasant shopping experience we've had this entire hunt for her perfect dress. She did in fact find the perfect one, and these ladies helping us today were the reason why. Their selections were wonderful. They are so funny, and honest, and lovely. I loved how they cared about our style and preference and worked to find things that worked with that direction. They were just so wonderful to us. I would really discourage people from shopping here. The ladies were very rude and made me incredibly uncomfortable about my body while trying on dresses, constantly talking about my large chest and what would and would not fit me. They also trash talked a lot of other stores which I just feel is bad business. Overall, truly bad customer service and not something you want your young daughters exposed to.

I did not like how pushy the ladies are there, they will tell you anything looks good on you. I had put a deposit on the dress and they would do nothing about it. They don't care if you change your mind or not. It's either you pay the rest of the dress or lose the deposit and there's no exchanges or refunds. I will never go here ever again. Worst costumer service.

I went to another store and they only had one dress in my size and it was an old lady dress then I went there and they had like 30 dresses in my size and the lady's were so nice. If ur having trouble finding a dress in your size I strongly recommend this place.

If I could put plus signs beside those 5 stars I would. I am getting married at the beginning of July which was only decided a few months ago. I didn't have much time to find a dress as ordering and doing alterations takes a couple months. Anyways I thought for sure I was going to have to settle on a nice light coloured prom dress or formal occasion dress to wear for my big day. I had been shopping around and found a couple of dresses but nothing that would stand out for my wedding day. I never thought I would get my "say yes to the dress moment!" I had heard through word of mouth about Kindred Spirit and thought oh what the heck I will go take a look. From the moment I walked in it was a lovely experience. We were welcomed and I mentioned I would like to find a dress for my wedding. 4 Dresses were pulled for me no sized asked which blew my mind because at the rest of the places I had been asked sizes and measurement. All the dresses were the perfect size and within 10 min I found my dress that fit like a glove no alterations needed! Mom and I couldn't believe how perfect it was. The ladies were so lovely and very helpful, I really felt at home in that store. It was hands down the best experience and I would definitely go back if I ever need another dress. Thank you so much!

I went to get a Grad Dress here and the people there were amazing. Right when we walked in she asked what occasion I was there for and what school I went to so nobody got the same dress. She knew what styles I liked right away off of a few pictures and picked around 3-4 dresses similar to it. I walked out with a dress in 20 minutes. They weren’t pushy for you to buy anything at all and knew what looked good with what. As we left the store she gave us a hug and thanked us for visiting the store. I recommend this store to ANYBODY and it is the best customer service i’ve ever seen in my life❤️

Kindred spirits is a great place to shop for grade 8 grad dresses. The girl that helped us had over 20 years of experience and you could tell!!! They will help with picking out dresses you might not think you will like and even help with shoes jewellery and purses. Remember you get what you pay for and the dresses are very high quality and they have a good selection.

About a month ago I went to Kindred Spirit in search of my prom dress. The ladies there were extremely helpful in helping me find one that was gorgeous and for a good price! I went around to a couple other dress shops but nothing compared to the dress that I tried on at Kindred Spirit, which I ended up buying! Yesterday I went back to look for some shoes to go with my prom dress, and the ladies yet again helped me find the perfect shoes! They had a great variety of shoes to choose from, everything from flats to sky-high heels, and the positive energy they have put you in a great mood that fills the atmosphere of the store! Kindred Spirit is my go-to dress shop and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a dress, shoes, and various accessories!

The dresses are nice but the customer service is horrible. Went to help pick a dress for my niece for prom and they refused to talk to anyone but my sister who was not even the Mom who was paying for the dress!!! When I tried to point it out they refused to talk to me at all or the Mom and continuing snubbing us. Was a repeat customer but never again will another dime going to this store. No price is worth that terrible service.

I had been looking for a mother of the bride dress. Went to Mt. Forest, Elmira, St. Jacobs and this was my last stop. From the moment I walked in the ladies were welcoming and so helpful. I found a dress but was not sure if it was for me. No pressure, they offered encouragement and suggestions. I left but told them they were the first store that was friendly and made me feel comfortable and that I would be back to buy a dress from them. I went back twice to check out the dress I had tried on (it was the last one) once with my daughter, next day with my friend. Each time I felt welcome and they made time for me and that was without an appointment. I bought the dress -clutch and earrings. Trying on the dresses was so much fun and everyone helped me decide on what I would be happiest in. The service there wasn't great. In fact, the sales lady was very pushy and kept giving me dresses she thought would look good, that I didn't like, making me feel pressured. All the dresses there felt cheaply made, and so similar that I didn't feel at all good about myself. I wouldn't recommend if your looking to have a nice dress shopping experience.

I felt helped out and supported at every turn, and the women were so knowledgeable and fantastic it was a breeze! (I HATE dress shopping) Bought my dress, plus two bridesmaid dresses. After today's visit at Kindred Spirit, I can honestly say I would not return. It is absolutely correct that they have a great selection of dresses, for various events. However, after the customer service I received today, I would not return. As a young woman, especially in this society, having a consultant openly tell you, "don't even bother trying that on, that won't fit" is both brutally honest and very discouraging. Although this review may be subjective, I do not feel it is ever appropriate for consultants to decide for customers what they should and "should not even bother to try". Both my friend and I were appalled by the way in which we were treated. As a young, average size 4 woman, it haunts me to think what negative effects this particular sales consultant has had on other young woman who suffer from body image issues. I would think twice before shopping here. There are many other stores in the area that offer similar dresses with the appropriate customer service to follow.

Loved this little shop! The ladies there were incredibly sweet and helpful. Found the perfect bridesmaid dresses. They do payment plans which is awesome and rare! Only downside was it is very small and cramped inside and parking is tricky.

Sales assistants are too pushy and try to put you down. As a girl who wears size 0 or maybe a 1 if it is small (however this is very rare), being told that you will be a size 4 or higher is quite offensive. I understand that there is a slight size difference between stores, but I have a 23 inch waist and that size difference does not make up 3 extra sizes! The sales assistants pushed me out of the store when i just wanted to try some dresses and see what style suited my body. This happened on all 3 occasions when I went into the store. I would definitely not recommend shopping here, especially for prom dresses. The dollar is the bottom line for them, not the customer. Don't waste your time or money. I wouldn't even put 1 star, however you can't put a half one or none. Thanks.

I would HIGHLY recommend this store for any formal occassion from a grade 8 graduation to a wedding. The staff were very professional, kind and warm. My daughter was looking for a prom dress and had a style in mind. The ladies helped her look through the dresses and in the end we bought an absolutely gorgeous champagne and black sequinced fitted evening gown. My daughter looked absolutely gorgeous. We were able to buy the shoes as well as the clutch within 45 minutes of entering the shop. The dress needed to be altered and the ladies at Kindred Spirit provided us with the name of an excellent seamstress who was only 5 minutes away from their store. All in all it was a wonderful shopping experience. A memory my daughter and I will share forever. Thank you ladies at Kindred Spirit, we will definitely be back.

Wow! This was the best dress shopping experience I have EVER had!!! My daughter and I walked in this past Saturday in a panic looking for a prom dress. Within 25 minutes we found the dress and were on our way home! The ladies working were so amazing we felt like we were just hanging out with a couple of girlfriends! The dress selection was fantastic and we were shocked by the range of styles! Wherever you live, it is worth the drive to Waterloo to check out Kindred Spirit, your dream dress is probably already there waiting for you! Shopping for a Prom Dress is a very overwhelming experience…sifting through all those "Bagged Beauties" can be a time consuming and frustrating task. The customer service at Kindred Spirit was incredibly personal and by far superior to any other store we visited (and we went to several who PALE in comparison)!! The staff were genuine and sincere in their opinions and offered polite and courteous attention the moment we walked into the dress shop. We did not feel any pressure to make a purchase as they respected the necessity to make the decision on our own. I was truly impressed with the positive energy within the shop and I would highly recommend Kindred Spirit to anyone in need of a formal dress. Love love love. I bought my grade 8 grad dress here and went back and bought my prom dress and accessories this year. Both of my experiences have been nothing short of amazing. From the second you walk in, the ladies are so fun and the energy is so positive. They will help you pick out dresses and get you dressed and always know exactly what looks good.
