Several weeks ago, I brought in two bags of clothes and I was disappointed to find out that Plato’s passed on everything. Yesterday I went to drop off a bunch of activewear and I was so happy that they accepted almost everything! I love shopping here to find some brand name clothing for amazing prices! It’s great to also window shop here once in a while as the staff are very friendly.

Definitely not a good range of selection. And lots of items in the women's section seems visibly worn out. I recommend the thrift stores on warden and eglinton for better finds

Nice experience. I brought a few containers of clothes over. The sales associates were very friendly. I think that they were fair in their choices. There was a little hiccup - an item or two were forgotten in the payout, this was brought to my attention by a sales associate following my departure which was nice (I hadn't even noticed!).The managers were very friendly and accommodating in resolving the issue. You really can't ask for more! :)

It’s an amazing environment to shop, the staff or super friendly and so energetic. Loved the displays, and how the store is put together. I love shopping at this location, always makes me feel good when I walk in to a friendly greeting, and they always remember me!!!

Neda Nassiri

Absolute rip off, I gave close to new items and they didn’t except it but the 3 items they did accept which I originally bought for $15 or more they gave me 7$ for. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION

Staff at the counter are not friendly at all. Talks to customers without having eye contact. Also, theyre too busy sorting products which creates a very cluttered facade. There were at least 5 staff at the counter doing each their own . There's a line up FIY . Needs training to do better in customer service.

This store was selling a Shein purse for $12 while on Shein you are able to buy that same exact purse for about $5. It was used as well but it was being sold for a little more than two time the amount of the retail price. I recommend to buy from name brand store that sells brand new items to get your moneys worth, because at this store some items are very over priced for no reason!

Absolutely disgusted with the customer service! Worst retail experience I have ever had in my life. The store manager Aceia treated me so poorly and I felt unnapreciated and mistreated. I explained to her that I have a medical condition that's why I can't wear my mask. She was so rude to me and not concerned about my medical condition. She embarassed me in front of all the customers by belittling me, racially profiling me, and being condescending. I never want to go back to that store ever again for as long as Aceia is working there. She does not deserve to be a manager and is a bad example towards her fellow employees. Please if there is head office I can speak to I would like some help. Aceia needs to be take accountability for her attitude because I am afraid she treats other customers like this.

updating my previous 4 star review: I am a frequent shopper but when it comes to selling items, BE AWARE. I am disappointed in their integrity . When I picked up my items, they said they'd pass on all items ... I immediately felt my bin was lighter and noticed 2 items were missing. I described the items and 10 minutes later they found it w/ the excuse "oh it probably got mixed up but we wanted to make an offer" Always check your items! it might have been a mistake but I've heard many other customers say the exact same thing about missing items . Why steal if you pay almost nothing for them?

Great service! Thank you so much girls. It was my first time there and everyone was super helpful. Wait time was about 30-45 min. At the end I ended up buying more they I sold ???? There were some great designer dresses and tops. Also, they keep staff overnight if you don't have time to come back same day.

First time going here - what a great impression. The staff are all so lovely and friendly, the clothes are neatly organized (and easy to find by colour), the fitting rooms are open (yay, since most stores are not opening them due to COVID), and the selection here is incredible. Took home a closet full of clothes today! Thank you to the girls that cashed me out - they were incredibly wonderful, patient, calm, and friendly. Thanks again xxx

After a few visits, I can say their staff is extremely friendly and go through a lot of effort to organize hundreds of clothes not only by size, but by colour too. Still, I have many problems with this store. 1. It's tedious to present my ID EVERY visit when selling my clothes, since they should just have me on record from the first time. 2. Their racks are overfilled. 3. They have ridiculous wait times (usually 1-2 hours), which isn't worthwhile when they accept very few items (usually untouched, brand new products). They also forgot to send me a text notifying me that my clothes were ready for pick-up, making me wait longer than 2 hours. 4. They pride themselves on being environmentally conscious, yet sell their clothes in plastic bags. I'll agree their clothes are fashion forward, but it's just not worth the hassle.

I love this place so much. You can get an entire wardrobe, stylish and sophisticated, for cheap. I've run into this store to power shop for a last minute party and the staff was incredibly wonderful. They helped me look for what I needed and although I couldnt find the perfect shoes, I found the perfect dress and purse and looked amazing for the party. I love this place and I love the staff. I recommend this place to everyone.

Awesome place for second hand items! Brand name stuff is pricey but that’s expected and they have some great selection

Tynesha Garvie

It's really fun to go in and see different clothing items they have currently in stock but what is very frustrating is bringing a huge bin of items that you clearly know have been lightly used or are still trendy and they purchase only five or six items at like $11. The time it takes to sort through clothes and carry them into that store and then on top of that it takes about an hour just over an hour for them to go through one box of clothing so if there's three people ahead of you before you get your pin in there you're waiting about 3 1/2 to 4 hours just to get some clothing look. And 1/8 of the bucket is actually purchased from you

I wish they would tell their customers about sales in advance. Their weekend sale was sent out by text at 8:30 the night before. I bought pants full priced two days before, when I wanted to return a pair & re-buy them with 15% off they said they wouldn’t be able resell them to me. This is not an unusual practice many other stores do this. Selling clothes is a hit or miss. I had brand new in style clothing that was turned down by one sales associate. I brought it back the next day and they were all taken by another employee.

I've been a regular since they've opened and they have always been amazing. Staff is incredibly welcoming, kind and knowledgeable, the store itself is always clean and tidy. The selling process is rather quick and easy as well, I'm sure I've made at least $1k in total in items I've sold to them. Items are also always in great condition, with a lot of popular brands to choose from. I've brought countless friends and family to Plato's and I plan on bringing even more in the future.

It's a great place to get good clothes for a good price. Found some nice designer stuff for cheap here. Sometimes the clothes have little faults in them, but for $3, it's not a big deal.

srikar avinash

Nice collection and good staff customer friendly. Not a big store though but you have huge collection and in different categories. Im here to drop off my clothes but wasnt aware of the plastic box needed inorder to drop off the clothes part of covid precaution. So make sure you take a plastic storage box which will be returned back once they assess what clothes are useful for them based on sales and condition of the clothing/footwear. Bit of an issue with registering when they sent me the link which shows the update of assessment of the clothing for us to be aware of whether we can go back to pick up or not.But they are calling though so not a big issue.

I went in on a Monday early afternoon (12:30pm) to sell my clothes, and I waited until 3:30pm and the staff still has not process my clothes. I’m trying really hard to be understanding, but waiting for 3+ hours? This is not acceptable. I …

I brought in a big basket of my clothes. Needs to be plastic no bag allowed. They only took 4 items. Not a bad day to to make pocket change. All depends on the demand for attire need. The store does not provide a written breakdown of the items taken/returned. Make sure to label your bin. The store did get my items confused with someone else's stuff.

This store is amazing! The goods are great quality and very cheaply priced. I live just around the corner and I pop in during my walks every so often. If you don't go here as frequently as I do, you'll never understand the level of hard work that goes into maintaining it. The racks are constantly rearranged and staged. All the clothes are color-coordinated and organized carefully. It's like walking into someone's meticulously curated closet. The staff is always very busy (I hope you guys get paid well for all the hard work you do) but very friendly and helpful. The only thing is, if you like something, you better grab it. I've mulled over something I thought was very generic, and the next day it was gone. I love this place!

What a lovely store!! Probably one of the best experiences I've had in a retail store in a long time. I've been to many of the other Platos but this location went out of their way to help me. I brought in multiple bins of clothing and the manager Ace went out of her way to help me carry them to my car when they had finished sorting my items. Definitely a great experience and would recommend selling your things there.

Lina Khandaker

I love coming to this store! The staff are kind, and helpful, and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in, and the selection is great. I’ve made a decent amount of money here from selling stuff I didn’t want anymore that I would have otherwise donated. It’s a very friendly atmosphere, and the staff are knowledgeable on current fashion trends. If you are planning to sell your stuff, go in the morning on a weekday because they are very busy weekends. I would recommend buying and selling here to anyone!

Clifton Golding

Worst customer experience ever! I have never been in a store where the staff was as unwelcoming as the staff of Plato's Closet. I had asked a question to Aceia the store manager in regards to the pricing of a t shirt and she replied by saying, " how do you not see? The price is right there!" I immediately stormed out the store feeling disgusted by Aceia's attitude! Her behavior is unacceptable!

Pam McDonald

I found i had way newer and better clothes then what I saw on the racks. Very disappointed that all my clothes and shoes were returned to me. Will not recommend this place to other people.

Well organized by size and colour, Plato's Closet is a step up from your regular thrift store. Items are clean and smell fresh, and selected as relevant to current trends. Menswear is off near the back and contains more basic items rather than cool finds you might hope for from a thrift store. A lot of the sizes ran small and seemed like they might have been womenswear. Since it doesn't matter anyway, it would be great to see a bit more of a gender neutral section somewhere in between. Staff was very friendly and fun to interact with. My only suggestion is to focus on fabric quality as well as style. Many pieces felt worn out, with pilling and fading. Even if less in style, durability and item quality is definitely something I look for when I thrift. Great and very friendly spot!

Stopped by recently and I had a wonderful experience! I had some clothes I needed to sell for my boyfriend and they bought them all! It didn't take long so I shopped around and found some Aritzia dressed for myself, I can't believe their pricing!! I received a text when the items were ready and the friendly staff helped me do a trade in which saved me tax! Can't wait to come back!

Nice selection of designer clothes. Great prices. Much better than Value Village

Mina Scarmato

Made me wait 2 hours and they didn’t buy one thing. Almost all the items I brought in had tags or were new from last season. All their stock was old clothes with stains, holes or balls , but they wouldn’t take brand name new items! A complete joke. What a waste of my time. Will never sell to them again. Use Varage or Marketplace.

Alyssa Jones

The store is nice, while looking around I saw cute items/reasonable prices, however the buying experience is much better than the selling experience! I brought in items that were all current and name brand ( Calvin Klein, Guess, ASOS, Steve Madden etc.). ALL items were worn once or never at all, some with tags on. They only chose 4 items. I waited over 3 hours for them to sort. Initially told 1 hour wait. They gave the reason that “some items were overly worn”. But after seeing other reviews with similar experiences, it eases my mind. Do they not look through it? I would appreciate it if they said “not the style they are looking for” but to say overly worn on brand new items boggles my mind!

Robyn Boyd

Not a very good experience during my visit today. There was a lineup to get into the store, and though there weren't many people in front of me, it took at least 45 minutes to get in. As customers were exiting the store, the employees never came to let more people inside which was very frustrating, not to mention that there were hardly anyone even inside the store. The service was extremely slow and bad. There were 3 cashiers behind the cash yet only 1 of the cashiers was cashing people out while the other 2 were just talking to each other. It took my friends at least 15+ minutes to get cashed out for 1 item- NOT TO MENTION THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERSON AHEAD OF THEM. Most of the clothes here is very overpriced considering it is a second hand store. If you're looking for cheap second hand clothing, I recommend just going to your local value village or salvation army thrift store. They have a much larger variety with cheap, reasonable prices. I really wanted to like this store, but unfortunately it's a flop that I won't be going back to again. Save your time and money. Thx for listening to my ted talk

This Plato's is definitely nicer and more organized than the Mississauga and Stockyards locations but somehow the items are almost DOUBLE the price of those other locations! Who is going to pay over $100 for a used pair of running shoes with no box or $60 for a beat up pair of kids size Jordans? The other locations definitely price their items way more reasonably. Be careful for fake shoes and sports jerseys though because the staff at every location that I've been to can't tell the difference. In terms of selling, like other reviews stated I have no idea why they wouldn't accept my clothes that were brand names and BNWT. But for some reason they are selling reusable shopping bags from other stores for $9 and gym bags (multiple) that are given away for free from Fit4Less? Usually the other locations text you a link where you can check the status of your items however this location didn't send me anything. I had to just guess when to come back? The service was nice enough but there are definitely things they can improve on.

Zhang Wei

I tried to give them a chance three times but each they lowballed and the last time they made me wait 2+ hours because their system didn’t work and instead I had to go in and ask. Waste of time and energy.

I’ve always loved shopping at Platos Closet Scarborough! I feel so welcomed by all the employees here! they are all so friendly and nice! I had tons of clothes with me and the lady in the back got a basket for me which was very thoughtful! All the clothes are always organized and they always put out new things on the floor. I found great quality lulus and aritzia clothes for amazing prices! So proud of you guys! keep it up!

Sasha Y

Sold my old clothes at this location. The girls who work there are so sweet and helpful!

This place is absolutely gross. Soon as u walk in it stinks like wet basement. The clothes are washed out faded and look extremely worn. Value village has better quality clothes. They don't want new or gently used clothes. They seem to take very old washed out faded clothes. I would not recommend. Gross

Recently shopped at Plato's Closet for the first time. I have to say my first experience was terrible. Probably the worst customer service I have had in my life. I was approached by the store manager by the name of Aceia because she had accused me of shop lifting. She then later found out that was not true and she did not apologize for her accusation. I have been racially profiled before and enough is enough. I let her know how that made me feel and she responded by saying, " I don't care". I was astonished a manager would treat me in such a manner. Head office needs to be aware of how their employees(Aceia) treat their customers because this is unacceptable.

Anjali Parhar

Was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour and waited 2 hours for my sell back. Floor staff was super nice but I would’ve appreciated being quoted an appropriate time frame to run other errands.

Normally I don't leave poor reviews because I like to give out good energy. The staff here are friendly and so is the environment. However, i drove 15 km to drop off my 3 bags for a day because it would take a few hours. No time to wait. It was not busy but I didn't argue. Received a call to come pick up. When i asked if anything was chosen, the guy on the phone stated that they are not aloud to give any information over the phone. So I drove 15 km (1 way /opposite direction of my daily destination) in a snow storm, to go to the store to which they told me they didn't want any of it. I almost cried. On top of that, they had no problem giving information about someone else's items over the phone. As a person who own a store selling used things. I could NEVER make someone bring me things, make them wait for hours or come back another day, and then tell them their stuff is no good. This is probably the most inconvenient and selfish type of business I have ever seen. You could still buy everything by the pound or at least give 10 cents per item and sell for $1 or less. You should be catering to all types of people not just 1 style. People are from all walks of life and smart business caters to everyone and capitalizes off of all types of people. And I tried other clothing stores too... they are all the same... they all suck and I rather give to a someone who has nothing than to give to companies like this. Feels like I'm working for them...
