the clothes and stuff are nice but it’s very crowded and very tightly spaced theres like no room between the sections and that is unsafe during these times. it’s hard to look for what you want because there’s not enough room. there’s also wayyyy too many people in the store the limit should be way lower. i felt very squished and unsafe around all those people. wont be coming back unless there’s less people allowed in the store.

This place is jammed packed with used clothing, they do carry some brand names and have accessories and shoes to. They carry mens and womans clothing and the prices are reasonable. It may be tight in this store with a stroller or wheelchair as the isles are small and there are usually a lot of people trying to ge through. This is a consignment store that accepts gently used items. Worth a look.

Plato’s Closet St. Catharines has been my go too store for years! I love the variety of the items they sell and how I can always find in style items. I especially love that I’m thrifting so I’m making more sustainable and green choices whenever I shop at Plato’s. I’ve always been able to find exactly what I’m looking for when I shop there. The staff are always so amazing and kind, they always go above and beyond! Especially with all the lockdowns and challenges the pandemic presented they were always there to make sure I am happy. Plato’s will always be my first stop and my first suggestion when friends ask where to shop.

Used to love this place, but now it seems to be going downhill. I often would bring clothes I got as gifts that didn't fit or wasn't my style, went in today with an $88 sweater still had price tag on it. Was offered $6 for it which is quite low but not the biggest issue, the biggest issue was there attitude just completely rude not sure why all I was trying to do was have my boyfriend use his I.d because my new one is still coming in the mail and they acted as if we were criminals trying to sell stolen goods. Horrible I don't recommend anyone using this store anymore.

Brought quality items from brand name stores such as Aritzia, Zara, Urban Outfitters and American Eagle and was not accepted for a single item because it “wasn’t what they were looking for” and considered out of season. Not sure if they even looked through the bags but I’ve found items there in much worse condition before.

I keep going in here thinking things will be better but I am constantly disappointed. Every time I try to sell plus size clothes to them they barely take anything and usually give the reason that they are overstocked. However, they will have a full rack or more of small or medium sizes and only half a rack or only a handful of items in larger sizes. And. I have been a couple times over the past few months and i have seen the same items there with nothing really new in larger sizes. Maybe they do get new stuff in and it sells so quickly but then I would see that as being in high demand and would think they would buy more from plus sized sellers. Another thing I’ve noticed is that the larger sizes are always on the bottom rack. So sizes like small and medium and are easy to access and right at eye level while large/ xl/ 2x+ (if they have any) are shoved underneath making you crouch to look for things and making it hard to see anything in the first place. It would just be nice to have easier access and the same experience as smaller sizes. I really hope these things will change because I love having a modern thrifting option with great trendy items at good prices.

For a used clothing store I have to give them props. They are super picky on what they bring in and it shows. All the clothes appear to be clean and in good condition. Only complaint is they are a little expensive at times for certain things especially considering it is a second hand store.

First time shopping here today, there was a line outside but it moved rather quickly. The young lady outside directing the foot traffic was really nice, very approachable, knowledgeable and pleasant. The young man at the register, equally helpful..will return prices are awesome.

The store is literally jam packed with used clothing, a lot of it not so gently used. Its difficult to sort through everything to find items actually worth what they're selling them for. A lot of it is overpriced given the condition it's in. The staff are also often rude, uninterested or unhelpful. I get the feeling they think they're better than me or somehow I'm not worth their time every time I interact with them, which generally isn't how you want to be treated in a store.

I have been to 4-5 Plato's Closet locations and this is probably my least favourite. Staff is not friendly which is fine if the selection was decent but I have never walked out of there with a purchase ever... Maybe because its a much smaller location they don't have as much? The prices are good but again I have not had any good finds here.

Very disappointed in the buying process. Brought stuff all nicely folded and was returned items that wasn’t even looked at or just thrown in. This was my third time trying to sell my gently used items and overall I was disappointed; basically a waste of my time. Speaking from someone who sold at other platos locations, I know more could have been done and that wasn’t achieved.

Store is decent but management ruins the shopping experience. Last night I had heard one employee chit chatting to another gossiping about fellow co-workers... I have to say that is horrible. I asked another employee who the individual talking was and told me it is the assistant manager. All I can say is wow. Do better. Besides this, the store has good things and I feel bad for the rest of the staff.

I never have a problem selling here. I'm just grateful there is a store where you can sell your secondhand clothes. I mean c'mon people, where else are you taking them where people will give you money for them? True, I've gone in with a bag of items and they've only picked a few things, but admittedly I have TERRIBLE STYLE, haha. I've gotten quite a bit of money on some occasions; most I've gotten is $60. I DO have some tips to cut down on the amount of whining from new sellers: 1. Wash your clothes. A lot of things can get rejected if it just doesn't smell 'fresh', or if it has pet hair, dust on the shoulders, etc. 2. FOLD your clothes nicely when you bring them in. If you ball them up in a mess and bring them into the store in a black garbage bag, why would you expect them to give you good money? Also, nicely folded clothes look good when they come out of the bag; no wrinkles! 3. Try later! I've had things rejected that I've brought back 6 months later that they've taken. I figure after the 3rd attempt, if they don't want it, it's Goodwill fodder (which is in the same plaza by the way, so donate there afterwards if you're too lazy to take it home).

You bring in the cool clothes you no longer want to wear, or no longer fit in, they give you $$, then other people buy said clothes. You put $$ in your pocket and go buy more cool clothes. My wife and I love this place and the staff are always great. Bring these guys your cool clothes and get some $$ for them so I can buy them. Thanks!

Platos closest St Catherine’s is a really great store!! I can always find discounted clothing from my favourite brands. I have been able to find clothing for Halloween and Christmas events too. The staff are always super friendly and helpful!! I have also sold clothing to Plato’s and it was an easy process. I would definitely recommend checking out this location!

My daughter paid eight dollars ($8) for a pair of shoes. Reasonable price, absolutely. Unbeknownst to her, one was missing a strap. She tried calling to return the shoes, with no luck. I tried calling to return the shoes, also no luck. You'd think that a business that caters to mostly college students would be forgiving with their return policy, but, no. They claim to accept only impeccable merchandise which couldn't be farther from the truth. It's a sad day when big whigs RIP off teenagers over "policy "policy that could immediately be remedied by exchange or adherence to their claims of "only the best" standards. Plato's closet seems a capitalist cog in the machine of money hungry terrorists. Perhaps it's extreme, perhaps you should give second thought to purchasing your items from anyone who will sell you an unwearable shoe, with guarantees that they won't fulfill.

This Plato's Closet is as good as others I've been to. They have great clothes at amazing prices. Everything is clean and well maintained. But they also have the most amazing staff and management. This store and its sister store, Once Upon A Child, are local small businesses that deserve as many customers as possible. Was offered 11$ for two brand new items still with tags..

Well today was my first time visiting this store was a little apprehensive at first upon reading some of the reviews. Well I had a great experience. Your staff today went above and beyond were so kind and friendly even tho i brought a huge amount of stuff. They took their time in explaining how things work were pleasant and still smiling even tho I accidently brought alot of the wrong things lol. The young man who cashed me out even offered to help carry my stuff out. Will most definatley be back thank you so much.

I love shopping for second hand clothing but sadly this Plato’s closet is super disappointing. I’ve been in ~3 times over the past year or so, and each time I’ve went though all of the racks and found that most of the items are drab/out of style. I know Plato’s has a buying guide to determine what they take, but sadly they definitely aren’t getting good product in (not their fault). I did however bring clothes in and got a few dollars for clothes that have been in the back of my closet for 5+ years so that was a bonus! However, if you’re looking for welcoming/helpful staff - not the place.

It took this store 40 minutes to let 2 customers out, told a guy who waited in line for 20 min he can't come in and doesn't give us updates on how long it may take to get in. I'm still in line. Awful customer service.

This place was recommended by a friend but unfortunately I was quite disappointed with the service I received. The staff was rude and dismissive and didn’t care to look through the items I brought for sale. This store might be interesting for people looking to buy teenage clothing with some attitude on the side but, if you’re looking to sell some clothing and shoes, look elsewhere because the process is simply difficult and frustrating.

Staff are friendly and store is pleasant to shop in. Also LOVE looking at their Instagram account, they do a great job with their posts/stories so big props to whoever is managing it! This location has an alright selection of clothes but they are over priced for being used and wrinkly. Also, it's a joke that they offer you next to nothing for used or unwanted clothing. I brought in a brand new $120 outfit with the tags still on and I was offered $10!! That is ridiculous. And the staff really is not helpful or friendly to younger people. If you have the patience, you can definitely find better stuff at the Goodwill right behind Platos for a better price!!

I don't sell, so I never worry about that piece which I see in the reviews. I buy - a lot - and always find great condition items, great deals, and the staff is friendly to me. If they weren't, I'd address it at the time instead of in a review, anyhow ;) They have casual, to great designer items. I've found Ted Baker, Burberry, a ton of Anthro, Bench and more. There are KILLER designer sunnies too! Thanks for having great items at affordable pricing!

I tried to donate plus size clothing as they have such a small selection. They took two items and a purse. So unfortunate. Sorry plus size ladies ! I tried xoxo (99% were American eagle, Aerie, Roots and well known brand names ) Staff is SO rude. The girl who went through my clothes was pleasant but the other employees were rude / unfriendly. Whether you’re a boutique, big box store, consignment store etc - everyone has the right to shop in your store. Your store exists because of your customers / shoppers. Management needs to train this staff in customer service. I’ve visited other locations and they are MUCH more pleasant

Where do I begin..... this store is one of the worst Platos I have ever been too. The two managers one with blonde ish hair and one with dark brown hair do not know how to talk to there employees let alone customers they seem to be into the gossip and talking more then working. Ever since covdi19 happened they don't even follow the proper guidelines its ridiculous. I wont be back.

I visited this store on June 30th between the hours of 1:50pm - 2:20 pm. Good variety of clothes and price but staff are very rude. They just stood around and talked about their personal lives and completely ignored the customers. When I went to the cash register to pay for my clothing I waited for 3 minutes and no one came. The cashier was too busy talking to her co-worker and a bunch of employees walked by me and saw me but just ignored me. Finally, I had to go up to the cashier and who ever she was talking to and ask her if I could pay for my clothes. When I asked an employee for assistance she looked so annoyed and was quite snooty and unprofessional. Good store but looks like they need some nicer and more mature employees.

My daughter bought Guess, Nike, Lululemon, etc all brand name clothing and pulled off tags and couldn't return to store when they didn't fit. She tried to bring into Plato's closet in St. Catharines but they said everything was old and wouldn't buy anything. They weren't even worn and were just purchased a month prior. Extremely disappointed in St. Catharines location. Will never go there again. Better off selling on Kijiji where she can make money and the buyer will pay less the Plato's closet charges for brand new brand clothing.

The whole concept behind these stores is ingenious. I love platos a d always recommend it to everyone. If theres something I dont have or I need, I know platos will have it.. just the other day I was able to get brand new pants for work at a really great price. Love platos the staff is always amazingly friendly and helpful... they could use more changerooms but either way this place rocks!!!

This location is the second Plato's I visit, the first one being in Brampton. I had come in today to sell for the first time (I usually buy) with three bags of clothing looking to sell some items. I waited around the store for 20 minutes as I was not really in the mood to drive home and then back, so I stayed. After about 40 minutes passed with no indication that my clothing was done, I went into the line to ask. The cashier was very rude to several customers in front of me, causing even the customer behind me to notice and comment to the person they were in the line with. She gave a guy who sold his items the wrong amount of cash and when he came back to say that, she became very passive aggressive talking to her coworker in front of everyone saying "I don't get it" and "check cameras" in a condescending way to make it seem like he was lying, and even gave her coworker a side eye while the guy was talking to her. Next, the guy in front of me. She was very rushed in her conversation with him and again, had the worst attitude while the customer did not display the same negative attitude towards her. She was overall just very sarcastic, rude, and has a terrible attitude as a sales associate. I did not get her name but she had her hair in a ponytail and wore a thick red lanyard with black writing on her neck. It had a buckle which unclips the key at the end. In the end, I only got two of my items sold even though several things I owned were in their little pamphlet of what they were looking for currently (style and brand). However, that is okay. I understand the process of how they select clothes and I have no problem with that. I work in retail myself so I know how these things go. I do not think I will ever return here again for buying or selling purposes. I do not consider myself a confrontational person and the way she was treating several other people in the store and myself for no apparent reason was not okay. I hope the company looks into this and trains their staff to be more friendly to customers.
