Good variety of clothes. I don’t like how the shirts hanging on the back are very low to ground and have to crouch down to look at them (perhaps raise the shelf?) Very tight in the isles (people bumping into you if they’re behind you). the staff aren’t so friendly, they glare at you when you walk in the door, they don’t ask if you’re finding anything okay. And when you go cash out they don’t make small talk, ask how your experience was etc.. customer service is always a huge plus in my books and the staff here don’t quite cut “great customer service”

Love this place for the huge selection of clothes at cheap prices. I buy a lot of items from here that I may only wear one season since it’s so inexpensive. The new location is great because it feels much more roomy and there’s more change rooms. Staff tends to be a little unfriendly though, they always look miserable ☹️

You can get a better deal here than on any buy and sell site, but be very picky about what you choose. Many items have armpit stains, rips, pilled, or overwashed. It takes some time, but there are good finds here

Absolutely awful customer service. Picked out a tank top priced $4, the cashier scanned it in and stated it was mistagged and tried to charge me $16, I said no I will pay the tag price. Then the manager, who couldn’t find time to put on a bra or wanted to show the world her pierced nipples, wouldn’t honor the tag and they still charged me the $4 for the tank I didn’t get. Never going back!

Used to enjoy bringing clothes in to get a few extra bucks but lately I haven't been impressed. Last time I brought a pretty large bag full and when I came back from lunch I was told they didn't want any of them. I realize they only want to purchase certain styles or brands, but I was genuinely confused as to how not a single item was wanted. Expressing this to the girl who was helping me she went through the bag again and then decided to take 11 items. Much appreciated to her taking the time to do this! Still all in all, with what was and was not taken, the fact that I had to get her to look again, and the little amount of money the company pays you, it's not worth it anymore in my mind. I'm very gentle on my clothes and always have trendy items in my closet, but from now on I think I'll try my luck selling my clothes in the red deer buy and sell group.

I like the store but the pants are often broken in some way, like a ripped belt loop or broken pockets, and they dont look through your stuff when you try to donate. I brought in a full grocery bag with the clothing folded and it seems they looked at the first 3 items (thrown back in balled up) and then the rest of the bag of pants was untouched and still folded. When i brought it to the counter the rude girl gave me a card with the most requested items, and the second one was PANTS. One of the pairs was not even worn once due to weight loss, but she claimed that they were all too 'worn' or 'not young enough' I'm 18!!! Dont bring clothes, sell them yourself for whats probably more than theyll give you.

The prices are nothing to write home about and what they give you for your clothes is a joke. EDIT: Deleted a sentence.* added a star. Thanks for your response. I like the premise of the store. Maybe tell head office that selling a used mini hiking backpack for $12 and offering someone $8 total for 3 items that were each $35-$65 new and are in good shape is just plain silly in this economy. It is very likely that I am just too frugal too but I know more and more people are becoming frugal like me. Thanks a lot and have a nice day!

I like shopping here from time to time but sometimes the clothes are overpriced. And plus I went here to sell some clothes. twice already and the first time I came they didn’t want any of the clothes and said they will donate it if i don’t wanna come back to get it. Then came back there and saw one of the sweater I gave them which they said they didn’t wanna buy. Second time around I have 4 big plastic bags and they bought some clothes for $36 only. When some of them still have a price. So idk but it’s not worth selling your clothes here

The girls working here are not friendly or personable. They are not dressed appropriately for a workplace, let alone a clothing store. I like the new infrastructure and the selection is good. Pricing still remains extremely affordable, and this is what keeps me a repeat customer, just wish I didn't have to be glared at for walking in the door....

My Boyfriend and I drove 1.5 hours for their athletic event!! Totally worth it. They took your name and phone number and called you when it was your turn to go into the story and shop, I think that is a very good way of doing it. They had a great selection of clothes they had saved up. Very kind and welcoming staff as well!! They had very good covid protocols and cleaning as well!! They also had a great selection of Lululemon which is amazing!!!! Will definitely be coming back there!!! No reason to give them less then 5 stars

This store used to be so good and it has just gone downhill. One of the staff Kenzi was incredibly rude, I had a bag of various items with things to sell and in there I had some brand new Nike pants and sports bra with the tags still on them and many other trendy and in good condition items and they told me they didn't want to buy anything. I had watched Kenzi take the bag and put it in a bucket without even going through it. I know that she did this because I know her personally and she doesn't like me so she decided to treat me so awfully because of it. You are going to run into people that you don't like at your job but you should grow up and treat them how you would any other customer. On a positive note, the other girls are super friendly and helpful and I love the selection at the store, you guys should look into moving to another location in Red Deer perhaps since this store is too crowded.

Honestly one of the worst Plato's locations I've brought clothing too( I've dropped off clothing in two stores Calgary) . Unlike what you see online or heard from other stores, the Red deer location doesn't check for the date tags. A single girl looks through the items (barely checking the condition) and decides whether or not she likes them. The clothing in store is low quality, super cropped or extremely ripped. It's based on the employee preference in style and not the condition of the items.

Poorly trained staff, poor selection of clothing, repetitive and cheap. While waiting for my items to be processed, I looked around the store. The selection, though large, was repetitive with many items of the same style in each section. The brands being consigned were cheap and close to the same cost as new. When my items were processed, which included brand name jeans (Diesel), winter coats (Bebe -this was in the winter), and shirts, all thoroughly cleaned, were declined. The staff member mumbled the explanation in why they weren’t accepted and when bringing items around the counter to me instead of in the bag them came in, they placed my white winter dress coat, along with my other items, into a pile on the floor at my feet. I do not recommend consigning here and suggest other local consignment businesses.

I’m new to RedDeer attending a trade,,, I had stopped in the store once, just to look around, I can’t afford new and although some prices were high, I did bye a couple pairs of jeans,,, cheaper ones I found. The girl at counter was nice, yet I was being judged so I ignored this. So she explained they took second hand clothing etc ,,,, yet only wanted Certain brand name products, and they did pay for what you brought. Today I had a few items, a winter jacket o hardly wore and couple Ts and jeans. I was asked to show some government ID, and THEN they actually wanted to scan my drivers license I’m like WTF,,, and it would take at least 45 minuets to decide if my items were basically good enough,,,, although I don’t have much $, and usually support thrift and second hand stores,,, bit not letting them have my licence #, and being judged AGAIN,,,, I laughed and said you must be kidding me and so sorry I ever purchased anything from the store,,,, and yes ALL, the employees were very rude ,,, and I have worked in customer relations all my life and yep Red Deer Plato’s can stay in the closet,,,, terrible experience that for sure

HORRIBLE experience with platos closet red deer, i dropped off hundreds of dollars worth if clothes (lululemon, underarmour, nike, levis, etc.), they said they would call or text in 20 minutes and by the time 45 minutes passed, i left red deer. Called a few days later to find out it's too late to get them. Lots of money lost and very disappointed with service. Do not recommend selling clothes to them.

Bought a purse and a scarf today. At the cash register after paying I opened the purse up to put the scarf in and the zipper wouldn't close as it was faulty/broken. They refused to give me a refund when I haven't even left the cashier counter - only store credit. I explained I live out of province and a store credit would not do me any good. She said they could not do anything else for me and I was stuck with the purse. Terrible customer service and return policy - especially on default merchandise.

My husband and I went down today for the athletic event. We were so pleased with all aspects of our experience. The safety protocols they were following for covid was great. Instead of having to stand out in the cold they took our name and called us when we were good to go in (brilliant idea). The store was laid out so well and brands of athletic wear were grouped together which made it easy for us! They had a large selection of items and sizes for both men and women! The customer service was outstanding! So friendly and really went above our expectations. Being from Edmonton it really is great to have such a good experience time and time again here. It makes the 1.5 hour drive for us totally worth it. I love this store and will for sure come back as often as I can!

Firstly, the reason I gave 1 star is because there is no option to give 0. This was my first and last visit to this store. Customer service is poor and unprofessional - I was extremely embarrassed when the sales assistant advised me that they would not accept my clothing as she thought they had a foul odour, in front of other customers! To be very clear - I am a non-smoker, and do not have children or pets. Being a Registered Nurse I am an ultra clean freak, thus was extremely surprised and taken aback by this verbal abuse. I do not recommended this store to anyone - rather donate your clothing to those in need via a non profit organization like the Salvation Army, which I did after my terrible experience here, or sell them yourself on kijiji or Facebook market place!

They either are not taking the time to properly inspect the clothes they buy or they are putting the clothes they say they “donate” on the shelves once you leave. I have boughten a light jacket with a hole in the side, a blazer with the stitching taken out of the one sleeve, a pair of gym pants with two holes in the knees, and my friend and I went last weekend and she got a sweater with a hole in the front. Make sure you are checking the clothes before you buy them!!! I’ve seen stained tops and faded ratty ones in the racks that I’m surprised they “bought” as they seem very picky and have denied some clothes for being out of style and damaged. The prices have been going up over the last bit and the quality has been getting worse. I used to love going there but now I’d rather pay the extra money rather than going home to find holes and damaged clothes.

I've only come into platoes closet a handful of times. The atmosphere is nice and they offer good quality used clothing. But every time I have visited the store the employees behind the counter have never been friendly. Good customer service is very important to me as a paying customer.

I use to love shopping here. Now I am disappointed everytime I have been. There is so much Ardenes and George, it seems over priced to me. Anytime I bring clothes they give you next to nothing for any of it or don't take anything. The staff is straight up rude. After being in a few times the past few months with various friends or family every has agreed the staff is rude. The are by far the worst of any retail store I have shopped at.

A bit disappointed, walked in at 8:30 on a friday night to all the clothes with black bags over them and the girls "closing up" & met with a sour look when asked if they were still open (closes at 9 - according to their sign). Due to this unwelcoming, decided to go elsewhere.

I have shopped here for years, even back when they were on the north end and although the prices are a bit high on used items its still less than new. Why a 1 star then? Today I went to look for some new outfits and they were at capacity which is fine so they took my number to text me when I could come in, after 35 minutes I went back to the store and asked where I was on the list as I had an appointment coming up, after searching for a bit she finally found my number and said they texted me already and because I didn't respond they moved on. I had received no texts so she said it was probably my carrier in which I told her I get every plato's message and showed her my phone, all she said was that she could put me back on the list, at the bottom! She would absolutely not put me next on the list even though I proved I didn't get the text and what would be the point to put me at the bottom, so I could not get another text. She wouldn't work with me at all and after freezing for 35 minutes already I was not going to wait another bunch of time for another text I wouldn't recieve. This was terrible customer service and because of it I will no longer shop at plato's closet, I am sorry that this is how you chose to treat a customer.

I never write reviews, but I feel I had to on this store. I went in with a box of clothes, jewellery, shoes and purses and came out with $20 odd bucks. (That's totally fine with me, no big deal. Apparently my styles were not 'teen' enough, although I did find it interesting how the worst clothing items were picked, and items still with price tags on that were over $100 were not taken.) While I was looking around the store, I was astonished at the state of some of the clothes and shoes. There were some shoes that literally had mud on them, or the soles were completely worn out. However, I'm not here to complain about the stock... I think Plato's Closet should have a more intensive customer service training program. The girls who were going through my clothes were picking them up and visibly, and quite loudly, making fun of them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this makes for terrible service. I had heard the girls there have made fun of sizes and styles of clothes before, but I didn't think they would have the nerve to do it with me still in the store. Very disappointed, will never go back, and will always strongly recommend not going to this store. Was my first time and will most definitely be my last.
