On Thursday January 3rd I had arrived at the Louies Good Used Clothing store in Coxheath at 4PM, 1 hour before close time. This is something my sisters and I enjoy to do often as a hobby. While I was scavenging through the bins I had overheard the only employee working going on about how she was done with customers for the day because she had just had an issue with giving a customer a receipt and she closed her till before the customer had asked for it. It was too difficult for the employee to get the receipt after she had closed her till so it had left the customer very upset. The next customer in line noticed the employees aggravation and asked if (we) the customers were giving her too much grief and the employee proceeded to say, "Why would someone get so upset about a receipt? A man died in a car accident today, that's something to be upset about". At this point I felt I understood the employees grief but still felt as though it was very unprofessional to express this to the rest of the customers. At 4:40 PM the employee aggressively announced that if anyone had clothes, they should go in the change room right now because the store closes in 5 minutes. I was completely compliant with this and proceeded to the change room with my 10 year old sister, although my phone time had said 4:40 PM. 5 minutes later the employee had started banging on our change room door saying we're closed in 5 minutes, not 30 seconds later the employee came back (4:45 PM) and said that the store was closed and we had to leave. This came as surprise to me as the business hours state that the store was open until 5 pm, but again I was compliant and asked the employee if I could at least get dressed as she was being very persistent banging on the door. In response to this the employee had said, "oh? You wanna play these games?" She had then proceeded to turn off the lights in the store (4:50 PM). This caused immense anxiety for my 10 year old sister who felt very unsafe to the point that she was afraid to leave the dressing room. I then asked the employee if I could at least pay for the items that I had found and then she shouted at me, "you're going to do what you want anyway". At this point I just needed to get out of the store so I rushed my 10 year old sister out of the change room and a man was standing at the exit screaming at us that the employee does not get paid after 5 pm and at this point it was only 4:53 PM. After we had walked out of the store she told us she was calling the police and this left me completely dumb founded. As we got into our vehicle our driver had noticed that the man who was standing at the exit had his phone out recording us which made him extremely uncomfortable to the point where he went up and banged on the door to tell the man to stop recording as there was 0 reasonable cause. This whole situation has left me completely flustered because there is no reason why any of this should have happened, ESPECIALLY with a 10 year old little girl there. I had called the non emergency line after we had left to explain what happened and even then it was only 5:00 PM when I had called outside of the store. The reason I am posting this is because I called the owner of the store himself and he said he could not do anything and that this whole result was due to the safety of his employee which holds 0 merit because if he looked at the camera footage, which he didn't feel was necessary to do he would realize we were the ones that were unsafe in this situation as the employee was overly hostile towards us. My 10 year old sister is still grieving about this and that's what upsets me the most. 1 hostile lady should not be allowed to inflict that much anxiety on a little girl. Absolutely disgusting.
