I have been a regular customer for years, but after being publicly humiliated earlier today, i sure as hell will not be returning. After politely asking for permission to access the change rooms, i was confronted with very inappropriate commentary regarding my size. The man standing across the counter reached over as i instinctively passed him the costume i had intention of trying on. Without hesitation he persisted to violently stretch the costume in numerous directions. He then commented on how I was a larger girl, only to then further call out to another employee regarding my size. I feel as if commenting on a customers size in such a public way was heavily inappropriate and unnecessary. Customer service is more important than your perception of a piece of clothing and i highly recommend you learn the proper way about suggesting alternative sizes to your customers.

A staff member sold me a Priest costume already worn and used, the collar is browny and there are stains all around, in the meantime I was assured that was only tried, but obviously that’s not the case.I asked for a refund but the waiting time would be over 15/20 minutes and the staff member was very rude, so I decided to keep it. I reckon that the customer should be aware of the status of the item and the staff should’ve at least apologise and not be rude instead. Poor customer service, I won’t advise at all.

Love this store. the staff are really helpful and have a large range of contact lenses. They helped me choose lenses which would look good on my eyes and explained how to use them. I went to another store before which charged extra for the case but at Hurly Burly you get them with the lenses :) Super helpful staff and i will certainly shop here again.

The clothes, jewellery, make up, and alot of other things there are really bad quality for the price you pay, by that I mean it's expensive and really bad quality. Everything I have ever bought for there has broken or worn out in just under a month, sometimes a few weeks. The employees are really nice and helpful, uts just the bosses who are not so friendly. I feel like I am always being pushed into buying things that I don't want to buy. I have being called names by the female boss before just because there was something that I didn't want to bye. I highly do not recommend this place. But then again there are some things that I think are good quality in the shop for good prices.

Helpful staff and great reasonably priced selection. They do contacts, suspenders and other random stuff that can be quite hard to find around Perth, and they're also open a bit later which is useful if you're running to a costume party from work which has happened to me a few times!

Costumes are expensive and very low quality. Bought a fake stethoscope and doctors mask set here to $30. It was already broken. Worth $2... if that. Only ever bought things here if time pressured.

Love this place so much!!! I've had the best experience every time I've visited Hurley Burley. Such a great vibe in the store always buzzing and no matter how busy the staff are they always find time to say hello and have great suggestions/ideas for costumes. The last time I was there, my friend and I were looking for Disco outfits. We had a great time trying on everything to do with Disco with everyone getting involved in the process. We were dressed from head to toe by the time we left! The lovely lady (DEE) was so much fun and attentive. Great style and advice! We always recommend you guys to our friends!! Even photo evidence of her enjoying her new stolen hair extensions from Hurly Burly (what a genius)...In other news! These lovely people at Hurly Burly assisted me and my bestie in retrieving some rather amazing mexican wrestler outfits. They're very helpful, friendly and down to earth. Tiny store, very crowded with stock, difficult to move about without touching others. Spindle stacks very messy making it difficult to look for particular item as well placed very close to other stacks. Staff appear VERY busy & sound rushed when serving & answering questions. At times was difficult to distinguish who was staff & who was customer.

Some of the products in this shop are of very bad quality and their policies and customer service aren’t any better. I spent $130 on five items for a Christmas costume only to get home and realise they were all ill fitting and of awful quality. Threads hanging out of a $60 outfit set, edges of a felt top not stitched - just (badly) cut to shape, tights that were completely see through and shorts that looked nothing like the picture on the packaging. On returning to the shop and asking for a refund due to the quality of the products, I was not only told they don’t do refunds but laughed at by the sales assistant. The sales team were friendly and helpful when I was there to spend money but nothing short of rude when I was there for a refund and this is really where the difference between good and bad customer service is apparent. After looking at the replies to the negative reviews on here it’s clear to see that whoever controls the companies google account unfortunately has no idea how to run a business as their replies are often very childish. I look forward to the response..

Even though we didn't come in to buy a costume they happily helped us straight away, with out giving a second though (even with the store being very busy). The next time I ever need a costume I'm sure to be coming back.

So I bought two outfits for Oktoberfest from this store, two pairs of knee high sock (wasn’t told there was a pair include with outfit) and ribbon for our hair (wasn’t told there was a hair banded included either). I made the purchases as our online order hadn’t arrived. After I made the $200 transaction and left the store I got a phone call saying our outfits had arrived so I went straight back to the store to return them. When I went back I explained the situation to the lady behind the counter, there was zero remorse (she didn’t even look at me as she spoke to me just continued working) I was told “not my problem I don’t make the rules” and I could get store credit and exchange. I didn’t receive a receipt for the purchase which stated this information nor was there a sign in the shop. The lack of customer service in store was appalling and the manner I was spoken too was vile. I work in retail myself and this situation is totally unprofessional and I will NEVER return to store again unfortunately.

I visited the store today which was super busy. I was looked after by two staff members, whom both went above and beyond to find the original costume I had seen on their website. When I couldn’t go with my original costume in mind, due to sizing and damage, the staff then suggested other options and found two alternatives and accessories to go with. I have been purchasing from Hurly Burly for a while now, however I won't be back again. My sister got me a waist trainer late Friday afternoon as a present. She told the staff when purchasing that it isn't for her. When I was given the trainer, it didn't fit me (I tried it on top of clothes). I left the tag intact and kept the receipt to go in person to return it. My sister said they made her try this on her on top of clothes. I just went to the store today (Monday, 12pm) and was met with extremely rude customer service. The girl at the counter did not even look up from her phone when dealing with me. I felt belittled and at fault with the wa she treated me. I proceeded to tell her that my sister wasn't told there were no returns and mentioned that the receipt says returns are possible if it's within a suitable time frame. She rudely let me know that there are some items that does not apply to. I would have preferred a better service when purchasing (letting my sis know there are no returns on the item) especially when she mentions it isnt for her. Secondly, I would also love it if the customer service girl showed a little bit of respect to the customers by not being so rude and absorbed by her phone. She is the face of the store and this has really rubbed me the wrong way. Safe to say I won't be returning here ever unless I see exceptional reviews of the customer service. Extremely disappointed.

Terrible, If not the WORST quality lenses, we purchased TWO sets of contacts as a mother's day gift and one of them was so heavy for my mum (who has been wearing contacts almost all her life) and she had to take them off within 10mins! The other pair isn't as bad but I don't trust the quality of this product and so my mother had to put her faulty gift away, I would NOT recommend it at all! Stay away. Furthermore the customer service is appalling, I have been abruptly dismissed and told that my mum clearly has an allergic reaction which is at least insulting and at best dismissive of a paying customer, I have yet to hear back from anyone after asking for further assistants and a contact number or email for refunds for more than TWO WEEKS now. Even though they are quick to sell you their faulty priduct, they are not as quick to resolve you issues with their faulty products. Basically this place is a scam, avoid it! Thank me later

Came in yesterday for a last minute costume for my Pirates of the Caribbean housewarming party on the weekend, and I really wanted a corset for it but I was worried about sizing and the fit. But the lovely young girl Mino, served me and made me feel so comfortable and such an easy experience as I thought I wouldn’t be able to get anything so last minute. She even went out of her to show my husband how to lace me in.

The ladies who run the store are so lovely and went to so much effort to order stuff in for me that they didn't have in store. I tried on half the store and the staff we're so patient, helpful and honest while running around and getting me accessories and other dresses to try. I've been shopping at Hurly Burly for well over a year and will continue to buy all my costumes here because I've had issues with online sellers before and much prefer to try things on before I buy, especially with corsets as they are always happy to help with the fitting.

I visited the store last week to pick up a costume last minute and was met with terrible, unprofessional service. I browsed the costumes for at least 10 minutes - clearly looking for something - before being greeted. There were a few people in the store at the time which I now realise were staff, not customers (though I think there were a couple browsing). I couldn't identify the staff anyway because 1) Nothing outwardly identified them and 2) There was plenty of chit-chat, so I initially thought they were friends hanging out. No one made eye contact or acknowledged me. When I was eventually acknowledged, a girl with short coloured hair halfheartedly asked if I found what I needed, though her tone suggested she didn't care for the answer. Our interaction about their offering was odd. There was a clear indifference and 'matter of factness' for no apparent reason. I brushed it off and proceeded to figure out which half of my items I should leave at the counter while I tried on the rest. I queued behind a customer being served and waited to reserve my items, which was fine, but not when the available staff members gossiped and actively choose to ignore me. When I came back to swap my first lot of costumes for the second, the gossiping ensued. They also misplaced the items I asked to leave behind the counter. Once found, I decided to try on one of the three costumes because I was told the store was closing soon. I went back to the change room and was in there for a couple minutes when someone approached and said the change rooms have closed. That was no issue, though I didn't appreciate the rude tone. These things may not seem like the end of the world, however, I didn't feel the least bit welcomed in store. In fact, it felt like I was an inconvenience to the staff which felt pretty terrible. In the end, I made a purchase because I was desperate to get something in time for my event. Once they figured out the price of the unmarked item (maintaining that same indifference), I was relieved to find it wasn't expensive. I wasn't happy about spending money there given my negative experience. I wish I could chalk this up to one sub-par staff member, but unfortunately, this wasn't the case. I worked in a department store for years and know the importance of customer service. It's critical businesses, costume shops included, provide great experiences and capitalise on every foot in the door, particularly when there's strong online competition. Quite frankly, there's no excuse for bad service. I won't be back.
