Came here for lunch after reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed. I had the 16 oz Mad Trapper burger which was amazing! The burger patties we're very tasty. Service was prompt. As for the restaurant, it reminded me of a saloon. They also have a patio as well. When in Parry Sound, if you're craving a burger, definitely check this place out!

My wife, infant son, and I decided to eat here while staying overnight Parry Sound based on the name alone. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, reasonably priced, and the staff were great with our son. The next time we are in Parry Sound we will definitely be stopping there again!

The second you step out of your car you can smell how amazing the restaurant. Went to this restaurant for the first time on Tuesday and honestly it was such amazing food. I got the mad trapper burger and holy helllll that burger was huge and probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. They have amazing portion sizes. You definitely get what you pay for I high recommend. The apps are amazing as well and great portion sizes. The waitress was amazing and very nice.

Delicious food. Really friendly staff. Fish and chips were excellent. And not store bought as another review had said. My wife had a quarter chicken roasted with mashed potatoes and mixed veg. She said it was a tiny bit dry but fantastic flavor. We will deffinatly eat there again.

Not for groups larger than 4 people!!! We called to make reservations on Monday evening for the Tuesday night dinner seating. We were told "We dont take reservations during summer" which we understood. But before we could ask another question phone was hung up. We decided to go anyway and went at 7pm. We are a family of 10. There was 2 tables of 4 with a space enough for a table for 2. When we walked in we were told that there is absolutely no way that any tables can be moved around and all tables are allocated to different servers. We were seated at 3 different tables. Being that it was 7pm and mid week we had minimal options of going to a different restaurant in Parry sound. Definitely will never return!!!

The food was fine, but if you have a reservation of more than 8 people, expect to be seated at 2 different tables. I reserved for 13 people, and wasn't informed when I called to reserve that we would be sitting at separate tables. When we got there, the waitress informed us, and then acted snarky and rude when we asked why we couldn't all sit together, when we had called a week and a half ago to reserve. Will never spend another dime here.

The staff is excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. The food is the best in the town of Parry Sound, without exception, my husband and I will only go to this restaurant. Doesn't matter if its breakfast lunch or dinner, I have never been disappointed with my meal or service!

They will say no to customers when they get a little busy So disappointed that when you try to support your local business and they say no to take out because they are overwhelmed with customers I don’t know will they be saying that when winter comes and there won’t be any customers because me and my family and friends and work peoples that have been giving them business through pandemic will not be supporting them.

Your average road side restaurant. Way over priced for what you get. But I think the owner makes money off of the tourist while they can in the warmer months. Pretty good food and the wait staff are a great bunch of ladies. I'd eat here again.

We live in Vancouver and stay overnight in Parry Sound enroute to Manitoulin. The motel is not of great note but always clean and is a great place to stay. The restaurant however is a different story. They have it all. Very good home cooked food, nice ambiance, and above all, a wonderful staff. Trappers Choice Restaurant is an experience in itself and one we won't soon forget. We'll return again for sure.

Fantastic. Perfect for everyone! Vegans, vegetarians, everyone. Poutines are a little small, but that is easily made up for with the massive 8oz burgers. Feeling extra hungry? They've got you covered with a one pound burger, the Mad Trapper Burger. Only down side, is no free refills. But you won't have room for a second glass of coke once you've polished off whatever meal you chose.

Staff was friendly and the menu was still great despite visiting during COVID. We have been a couple times over the years for snowmobiling and I hope they survive this pandemic so we can continue to enjoy it in the future. Its one of our favorites

This was my second visit to the restaurant. After my first visit I thought "I want to come back sometime." After today's visit my opinion hasn't changed. I still want to eat there again! Today I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich with blue cheese sauce - mmmm. My previous visit I had the steak sandwich - at this restaurant that is an actual small steak, not shaved beef. Both were excellent. We made the service challenging by showing up unannounced with a good part of our hockey team with parents - they made it work and the service was fast.

Great family restaurant with inexpensive menu options. My daughter loved their french fries, tasted like her grandmother used to make! Good portion sizes and value for the price. Very friendly service. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Will return if ever in Parry Sound again.

Me and my husband went for dinner and ordered hot Turkey and hot beef classic meal and it was melts in your mouth. Staff are very welcoming and gave us suggestions to try. Definitely coming back to try some of their great dishes in their menu.

Stopped in for a late lunch on our way back from a camping trip. It took a bit longer than usual to get a coffee because the waiter took the time to brew a fresh pot. We had club sandwiches with fries and gravy on the side. Clubs made with real turkey that they roast in the restaurant. Fries excelent. Gravy well above average. My take on the menu is that this is traditional Canadian fare, but there's nothing wrong with that if you do it well. We had a bit of a pause when we pulled up because it doesn't look like much from the outside. But if you're passing through Parry Sound and need a decent well cooked meal with good and friendly service, give this place a try.

I've been here several times before and was looking forward to another great meal. We were seated. No one came to take our drink order. We watched others seated and orders taken. When this was mentioned to a passing waitress asking if someone was coming, we were told someone was. We watched every other waitress inb the establishment come and go from the dining area repeatedly, looking after other tables with still no acknowledgement to us. We left.

Extremely rude staff. We came in this morning with a party of 4+ a baby we waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes without being acknowledged when we asked about the wait time (there was no one else waiting) one of the waitresses was beyond rude and condescending. Needless to say we left. Stay away from this place, they don’t deserve your money.

Nice little diner spot in Parry Sound. Mostly wheelchair accessible. They have a flat entrance where you have to go through 2 doors, the doors are not automatic. Once inside the restaurant, it is spacious and easy to move around. Mens bathroom was small, again no automatic door. They have a larger stall in the mens bathroom, I was able to get in and close the door as I use a manual chair, but anyone using a power chair would have major problems moving around.

Used to be good food. Been going there for years! BUT tonight I ordered the hot turkey samdwich. They didnt have turkey ???? ok so as a loyal repeat customer I am willing to make accommodations. It's unfortunate that the "chef" was not willing to work with me. How difficult is it to put a chicken breast on bread with gravy??? I even offered to pull it apart myself!!! The not so friendly manager came to inform me that the "chef" would not accommodate even though they have chicken, bread, gravy and all the other fixings. I guess he doesn't know how to chop up a chickem breast? Disgusting customer service!!

The food was good, but the service here started off rough. The server seemed put off that we had a group coming in, which we knew by her turning us away when. She saw there were 8 of us. Someone must have said something, because she ran out to the parking lot as we were leaving to call us back in for a table. She still seemed irritated that we were there for a short while, but warmed up eventually. Everyone has an off day, I would go back to try again.

The server was rude, and impatient. The food was nothing special. They didn’t have two of the items I attempted to order and she was annoyed when I then ordered two side dishes instead. Stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday. Had a couple of huge, delicious homemade burgers. Gravy was out of this world as well. Love going to non-chain restaurants. Definitely better than any of the crap you get on the McDougall rd. Exit. Take 2 minutes longer and try this place out.

I've had 3 meals at this restaurant. Each time the hostess has been wonderfully friendly to us and very caring to my friend who is a frequent customer during the summer months. Food is great. They even have gluten free bread occasionally. This is a must stop in Parry Sound.

My word! We stopped for dinner on our way to Sudbury and my vegetarian daughter decided to try fish & chips. She said that she'll never eat fish and chips anywhere else. To use a phrase way too young for me: Trappers Choice is da bomb. I love fish and chips and this was the best beer battered haddock I have ever had.

Discovered this place while staying over in Parry Sound June 2019. Pleasantly suprised by the home made food. I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. Everything was real food including the mashed potatoes. Yummy yummy in my tummy. Everyone eating around us, their food looked great. Staff very friendly and attentive. You gotta eat here!

We were visiting Parry Sound from Toronto and had planned to eat along the water for lunch- but the selected restaurant wasn’t really social distancing... We looked around and almost gave up when we stumbled by Trapper’s Choice. What a delightful surprise. They had a patio and great menu and what a delicious set of dishes! The pickerel sandwich was ridiculously delicious- light batter- not greasy, not salty. It was amazing. We also selected the Mediterranean wrap and it was full of grilled veggies that were to die for! I had an order of Tzatziki on the side with perfect sweet potatoes fries. Even the little side salad was done-up nicely. I would highly recommend this hidden, unsuspecting little gem. Lovely attentive staff too.

The food here is fantastic! Stopped by here on the way back from camping and ordered the steak sandwich and was pleasantly surprised to find it use an actual full steak! Though I can't remember what my two friends got they both said their meals were equally good. Topped it off with a warm piece of blueberry pie for a delectable meal.

We waited 10 minutes before a hostess acknowledged that we were there. We waited another 10 minutes to be served, and 20 minutes further to find that the only 2 items on the menu we would eat as vegans (avocado bites and beyond meat burger) were not available. The Portobello sandwich we then ordered was not very good. No bueno.

Feeling somewhat duped by their high rating as far as breakfast goes anyway. The corn beef hash has almost no beef in it at all and what’s in there isn’t worth eating. Burger was gigantic. The mad trapper is off the wall delicious. Flavourful and so huge it's wild. It might be one of the biggest burgers I have ever had. Wedge fries were ok. A bit soggy, but I did get the poutine which was mediocre. The calamari was good and so was the jalapeno shrimp. Garlic bread tasted fine too.

What a treat this place is. On the way home from a heavy backcountry camping trip, this place really satiafied our hunger. The burgers were amazing. Huge beef pattys loaded with fresh toppings. Great potatoes wedges too. Will definitely stop here again.

Went for breakfast this morning. I ordered eggs benny with no bacon and added cheese instead. When I got the the bill the server had added a charge for the cheese even though they got to keep their bacon. When I questioned the charge the server instantly became irate and insisted that it was my choice to change and they are not allowed to change items. The same server scoffed at me when I requested no bacon and asked for cheese as if she disliked vegetarians. Ultimately another server came over and removed the charge and apologized. I have a cottage in the area and been here many times with no issue. I will not be returning to trappers because of this server. Which is unfortunate.

Stopped by on the way back to Toronto from Sudbury. Had the beer battered haddock with wedges and the pickerel on a bun with mushroom soup. Everything was fresh and delicious! A definite stop each time we make this trip going forward.

4 of us were travelling through Parry Sound during the Christmas holidays and stopped here for breakfast. The service was top drawer and the food delicious. The waitress actually brought us a package of coffee when we mentioned how tasty it was with our breakfast.

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Feels like a modern day take on an old trappers cabin. Moose antlers and taxidermy animals on the walls. The menu had a good variety of different foods from fancy dinners (surf and turf) to burgers and apps. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Good value for your money.

The hotel was not fancy but it was very clean and exactly what we were looking for! The cleaning person did a fantastic job, we stayed at a Marriot on the way home and this was way cleaner. My only complaint is the 10:30 checkout time is pretty early. Also the walls were pretty thin you could hear neighbours when air conditioning was off.

Excellent experience! Tiny bit of a wait as they hadn't opened their upstairs dining area. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size!! Enjoyed garlic bread with cheese (4pc), fish and chips (weird, did not come with coleslaw!) And an amazing hot turkey plate with stir fried fresh veggies, baked potato and a pile of turkey and gravy! Best I've ever had!

Never again!!! I went here for breakfast Wednesday August 1, 2018 with a friend. Talk about insulting. When we walked in the hostess and waitress looked at us, they hostess greeted and saw us to our table we watched the waitress go to a couple of tables. There wasn't many people and most had already eaten so she was mostly clearing the tables. We sat watching this for five minutes when a woman entered and asked for a table for ten. We will haven't even been asked if we want coffee yet. It took them another four minutes to set the table for them and most of the party hadn't even gotten there when the waitress started asking the three that were there for drink orders. I'm watching this appalled as we weren't even acknowledged (but were seen) at this point. I asked my friend, do you believe this. We've been sitting here watching her ignoring us, clearing tables (which can wait btw as the other customers hadn't asked for her to do it yet), her looking over at us every once in a while and now customers who just walked in are not only being seated without the whole party there, she's asking for their drink orders and she hasn't even come over to our table yet. I'm not saying that this was a factor (but it sure as hell felt like it), being the only native there I feel that they should learn some serious cultural sensitivity or choose a different career. Nice to know that the Brunswick House didn't give us this treatment and I'll be taking my business there.

I was lucky to get booked in the last available room in this Inn! Upon checking-in to the office in the morning, I was greeted by a friendly owner who asked me for my details. He handed me my room key and wished me a good stay. My room was very tidy, and came with a mini-fridge, microwave and parking space (very well lit) which was directly outside of the room. This Inn is located right next to a restaurant (which has the same owner), which is convenient because a mini-fridge can only hold so much. Nearby there are also Subway and Tim Hortons restaurants. Most importantly, the Inn is just up the road from the downtown core. I %100 recommend a stay here!

I know Covid has made things stressful and I try to be really friendly a supportive of staff. But the blond waitress at Trappers was rude and unkind. I do not recommend being served by her.

Went there for breakfast, which seems to not be their specialty. The air conditioning was on so strong that we had to move to the patio. I ordered the pancakes and asked how much it would cost to upgrade to real maple syrup, but was curtly told that they don't offer it. I asked for honey instead and was told they had that, but when my pancakes eventually arrived, it was only with corn syrup. The toast also tasted off.

Seems to be a popular local eatery, mix of clientele from business people to fishermen. Fish and chips was not bad, but nothing special, seemed store bought but at least it was a large portion. Decor is pleasant, parking easy, and location is convenient from the highway.

I hadn't been here in years so we decided to try it with friends. We all liked the food. Okay wine selection but didn't have the liqueur I wanted. Good portions so no room for dessert. Decor isn't modern, but it is on a trapper theme. Washroom was very clean.

One of my fav restaurants in PS for old fashioned home cooking. Liver and onions, baby back ribs, amazing burgers, excellent stir frys and all time my fav dish, chicken citrus salad. Great staff and a rustic ambiance. A great place for socializing with friends.

Staff was friendly. Unfortunately, I ordered the steak sandwich and it was not even edible. I could barely cut it with a knife. My wife ordered the fish and chips and it was edible but nothing special. We chose this restaurant based on reviews and were disappointed with the quality.

Restaurant: 5 stars!! Pleasant and engaging staff. Clean place, good service, decent diner coffee, and opened right on time. Breakfast food portions great and tasty: Eggs and bacon cooked to perfection, and a slice of cantaloupe that was sublime and harvested at the perfect moment. Overall, an outstanding breakfast experience. (Note: This is the ONLY place open in Parry Sound at 8am on a Saturday for coffee of ANY kind, excepting of course the ubiquitous Tim Hortons around the corner. I know because I drove hell and back around downtown to try and find a non-Hortons local coffee house or diner at 7:30am, to no avail.) Inn: 1 stars. In stark contrast with the restaurant, my overnight stay left alot to be desired. Room was reportedly”recently renovated” . Unfortunately, the bottom sheet had urine stains and pubic hair from some previous tenant. Owners were gone when I discovered this and so I had to sleep up top. TV remote broken and TV had only one channel. Woke at 5am to water pipes clanging from neighbor tenant’s early rise/shower. Not a good night sleep, (but what do you want for $99?). On the bright side: AC worked fine and shower/bathroom was clean and plenty of hot water. No closet to hang clothes. Proprietress was a kind, elderly lady. From what I can tell, just not a lot of hotel options in town to stay at; they all seem the same as motor motels. Had the bedding been clean, I’d have given 3 stars.
