Sadly last week we had to say goodbye to Stratton, our dearly loved Westie of 13 years. Due to his condition I was required to seek out a particular food for his diet and Pet Valu was one place I was able to source out that brand. Colin assisted me numerous times in getting me that particular food when other Pet Stores couldn't. He was always friendly, courteous, quick to help and very efficient at the task. The owner also stepped up and got involved as well. I will forever be appreciative of Colin's work ethic and performance. I found the store always clean, organized and fully on board with all the Covid protocols. Any chance I get at my business to recommend this business I will certainly share how pleased I was with the store, the staff and the owner of Pet Valu, Perth.

My wife and I easily spend over $1000 a month here taking care of our 5 animals, to the point management told my wife “ she’s one of their most frequent customers”. Their staff are rude and I was recently asked to leave because I didn’t have a mask, yet I’m double vaxxed. I can stroll into every other store in Grande Prairie, but these goofs are turning away customers like the COVID police … We will NEVER return here… ???????? all I can say is what a great business decision to the owner. Shave 12k off your bottom line this year!

I often stop by here to browse after work, but the other day I stopped by while waiting for someone else. The guy working at the register was AMAZING. I brought up how I'm looking in to getting a kitten, and he was so helpful. He gave me a little booklet for new pet owners with some coupons in it, some free samples of kitten food, and some free dog treat samples for the dogs I meet and sit. I'm dissapointed that I forgot to ask for his name. The other times I go there, the staff are welcoming and helpful too, this is just my most recent instance. 10/10, will reccomend to anyone with a pet.

I stopped in after having my vaccine shot to see if they had snuffle mats as my regular pet shop did not have a distributor that sold these. After walking through the shop not finding it, I asked, and the person behind the counter told me “I think I know what you are looking for but they do not sell those, you have to make them yourself”. I was the only person in the shop, two staff, and I was the one to initiate conversation to get some help? And to be replied to in a snippy tone? Wow. Anyway, found one online even though I am a huge advocate for shopping locally. Disappointed to say the least.

This is by far the best pet store in st.thomas with the best staff around. They are always there to help and answer questions. I got a puppy and needed a coller asap and other stores in town directed me to order it online. Pet valu helped fit a collar for me curbside. Our puppy is a service dog in training. The staff are super understanding about not interacting with her when she is working and treating her like a puppy while she isn't in her vest. They let her explore the bathing area to get used to it even though we were not having bathing her that evening. They always welcome us to come in and do training and don't ever force us to buy anything. They have ordered in items that they didn't have in stock. They are absolutely amazing and I recommend the store everyone.

I have just left this store and I have decided to not return. This is the second time one of your employees Yhana has been rude and condescending to me. The other employee was not much better. I had given my opinion about something another customer was asking. As I was leaving the store I could hear the two employees (Yhana and the other woman) whispering and then they both laughed. I stopped and said “You shouldn’t laugh at people.” Yhana just walked away from the counter and headed down an isle to the back while the other just stared at me. I have been purchasing cat food and kitty litter for as long as this store has been open. I have rescued 4 cats over 22 years and I don’t appreciate been treated as if I don’t know what I am talking about. I know more about pets and especially cats than these two idiots could ever hope to learn. They are bad for your business as I will tell anyone to not shop here.

Always go to this Pet Valu, they're the best place in St Thomas. The staff here are just terrific. They're always friendly, fast and explain things to help you out. The store is nicely laid out. One of the best things that they sell, is those pill pockets. We have a golden retriever that doesn't like pills, and with those pill pockets she just loves taking them.

Ethics ---- It's all about ethics. I run my own business and the success of my business depends on me being ethical to my clients. Several months ago I went in to buy cat food. My girlfriend went with me. We both were given small rewards cards and we were told the next time we bought food there we'd get money off our next food purchase. I went in to buy food today and my cat food was five dollars off, which is the reason I chose this day to buy it- it was on sale. I presented my card and asked for my discount (as promised) and I was told it wasn't applicable. They explained to me that the card was only valid for catalog items and other various items and that my food was already $5 off the original price. I bought the food anyway because I needed it and it was on sale. BUT, that's not what they told me originally. So what's the big deal...it's only a small discount anyway right? The issue is that they said one thing and did another. If I did that with my clients I'd be out of business in no time. I gave them their rewards card back...since obviously they don't carry any weight. In September, a new store opens called Pet Smart. It's a much bigger store in a much better location. Maybe the "SMART" part about the new store is that they have ethics.

My dog hates bathes. And found theyre bathing station delightful. They supplied shampoo, conditioner and after bath spray. Also towels and a blow dryer. It cost $10 for the bath however so worth it when you dog is a 70lb husky and plays dead when its bath time

Real friendly girl at the counter! Lots of pet food and toys. However I was so sad. The only pets they had were betas. They have an awesome personality and yet they were stored in tiny tupper ware containers with no ventilation. They were in these plastic jails and were in direct, westward sunlight. If you know anything about these fish you would've been able to tell how sick and lull the betas were. Truly disheartening and it made me sick.

Was really happy they had so many options for healthier dog treats. Especially the "No Hides" which are much better than the raw hides. Prices vary but still are reasonable for whatever your animal needs are.

The store “itself” is very clean & very well organized! I’ve had no issues finding anything I needed. MOST of the team is very knowledgeable, I’ve met a couple that literally have no idea what your inquiring about and have zero knowledge regarding pet care, or the potential to achieve or to refer you to someone that wants/will help..I had to ask if there was anyone else working/seek information from because the answer I received from them was a “ummm I don’t know” then receive the cold shoulder & they continued stocking the shelf. I’ll clarify again; NOT all the employees! BUT definitely a select few I have personally dealt with directly.. Myself I really do enjoy Pet value and will continue to support the business. I just hope they hire stronger informed employees/train them to want to achieve the knowledge or have more on the floor that can be more direct and show that they care & tried to help. Pet value has always been one of my TOP TEN recommendations! Over other box stores.

Great Pet Store. They pass the savings right onto you. The money they saved by omitting the e in value from every sign... That's right, passed onto you the customer. They also have a promo to buy ten bags and get one bag of cat food free. Although, I would not recommend this program if you have a senior cat. It takes a loooooong time to buy 10 bags of senior cat food. Even if you're really good at math, those numbers will never work out for you. On the flip side, if your cat is young and eats 2 bags a year; you could be sitting pretty on a free bag of Performatrin in 5 short years. That's called investing in your future. Take that Warren Buffet.
