I love the concept of stores like this so I was eager to check it out. I was blown away with the selection, the organization, the spacious feel, and the very helpful staff. I found exactly what I was looking for (and more) and paid way less than I expected. I was served at the cash by a genuinely kind woman and had an inkling she might be a significant part of the business. I ventured to ask, and sure enough she is one of the owners. I was truly touched with her helpfulness and her ability to stay calm during the new launch of this location. The prices are incredible and the clothes stay true to their brand - trendy and gently used. I'll go back for sure!

The lady who owns this location is an absolute doll, she’s so kind and helpful! Always happy to buy here, just got a beautiful fossil purse last week to add to the collection

Hayden Baker

Awesome store if you’re wanting some fresh clothes at a discounted rate. I like how they have frequent promos. Staff are nice and the selection is hit or miss. Fun place to take your partner ????

Yolanda Yu

Lots of variety, can always find good and rare pieces here! One star off because the customer service is iffy sometimes, staff can be a bit cold and rude when inquiring

After my first visit to Plato's Closet I knew I had kissed goodbye to full price retail. Have you seen the documentary The True Cost? This kind of retail store is the answer to the insanity of full price clothing bought and thrown away a short time later. I cannot in good conscience pay full price anymore. My best 2 recent finds were a Herschel backpack (tags still on!) and, just now, Sorel winter boots without any wear on the sole or mark on the fabric. Both for around 50$ each. That's 75% off! To compare this Plato's Closet location to a thrift store or a "value village" is a gross misrepresentation. This store has a knack for picking and selling only prime condition and in-style clothing. I have also seen some new items with tags still on for over 50%-75% the new price at regular stores. I will not go anywhere when I need a new piece until I've visited Plato's. I have been to the Burlington Plato's Closet, while still a better idea before visiting a "full price" store, that one does not come close to the quality of clothing and organization of the items available at this Oakville location. Friendly staff who value a good shopping experience and take pride in good quality gently used clothing. Full price is for suckers.

Jackie White

Great prices, excellent selection of clothes, items. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Manuela Arbelaez

Used to love shopping here but they mostly sell their high value items on instagram now so going to the store is useless. They’ll occasionally have a rack of the things they didn’t sell right away on insta, via direct deposit, in the store but it’s usually all the rejects.

Fizza Tariq

Good selection of clothes though used the prices on some items is ridiculously high.

Stacey English

Excellent day at the store! Nice and bright location with a perfect ensemble of clothing and accessories. The staff are super fab and make the experience awesome! Make sure to take advantage of their excellent styling skills and you will never be disappointed. Peace and Light ????

I'm not happy about this store call Plato's closet oakville. I came all from Burlington. I bought 4 big bags to sell clothes. try sell my clothes. And say going to take 2 hours looking my clothes. And they didn't buy one clothing of four bags. I am very disappointed. I am not going back to that waste time store. Sorry lost a customer.

This was the first Plato's Closet I have ever been to. Now I can't stop wondering when I want to shop there next. It is so clean and decorated in such an easy to navigate way. Everyone there is super friendly. Change room encounters can be so dreadful, but the staff made me feel more excited to be there. I wanted to talk to them for hours. The store is clean and you never know what you might find. I love how I can bring in clothes from any season and have it be considered for a buy. They try really hard to make it about the customer. There's little guide cards to show people in an accessible and easy reference what they could potentially bring in. Love it! Thanks for the work that you do.

I'm always happy when I go to Plato's Closet Oakville! It's my favourite place to shop for cute clothes that are super affordable, especially when I bring in items to sell that can be traded against the price. It's clean, organized, and has great selection. The staff are great, especially the owners Melody and Jill, you can tell they really care that you have the best experience possible!

I have fond memories of coming to Plato's with a friend and trying to pinpoint the hottest items before he could. In these visits the staff were always friendly and seemed to be having fun, from what I could tell the owner must have had considerable involvement in the operation which contributed heavily to my application to the store. I've now been working at Plato's for a few months and I'm very happy to say that I was right, the owner and managers are involved, invested and it is a highly enjoyable place to work. I'm also still an avid customer though and it's difficult to resist the urge to spend my entire paycheck but now as an employee I don't have to worry about my friend beating me to the best items.

Brought a brand new pair of shoes in which retail for over $125.00 USD. This store wanted to give me $10. It’s a rip off operation, avoid.

Emily Moore

I have been to this location a few times, the staff are always really sweet. I heard that they had gotten new owners and I did notice a slight change in the store... it wasn't until last weekend when I brought in a buy and then did some shopping that I had the pleasure of meeting the new owner. she was super helpful explaining why they passed on some items and what they offered me for the items they wanted was a lot more than what I was expecting. she is a very warm kind hearted woman and I'm sure Platos would be an amazing place to work. thank you for all of the help!!!

Good place to find cheap used clothing still wearable. You have to go through some hunting to find what you want, the place is well organized and clean different from Value Village or Good Will. The quality is better as well because they do not deal with donation but purchases so there are some criteria with the selection. You definitely can find good deals on store brand items.

IVETT JUHASZ

Zero clothing that’s over a size 12. All the other locations are so great this store was such a disappointment.

Creasy

Staff wasn’t overly friendly. Store was clean and well organized. Be prepared to wait for items to be checked. Prices are reasonable but disappointed in how selective they are with items. They want a younger vibe and selection of clothes but everyone I saw shopping in there was 30+.

Mae Andrea

I stumbled upon this place from instagram. Their account caught my attention! This is my first thrift store experience in my whole life and surprisingly it went well for a beginner. Me and my family came here couple of times during the pandemic. Today, i went by to find new pair of pants. I got a few pants i liked especially that i bought black pant, which i don't usually buy often but this particular style was so nice so i had to get it! Everyone was so welcoming and nice. Love the place, you usually save good amount of money of the items you find at this location compared to the actual retail price. If you register to collect points or take a picture in their fitting room while trying on clothes, you get 10% discount and get points for not getting plastic bag when cashing out your finds! Highly reccomend this place and can't wait to come back again! ????

Lindsay Leigh

I like a store that actually has reasonable prices. I’ve been to “the patch” but they’re prices got into the hundreds for used clothing. The staff was nice here and the clothing selection was really good, especially cool to see a good men’s section and active wear too. I haven’t given any clothing here yet but I’m sure I will eventually because I will be back!

Jenelle Gwyllt-Smith

This has been my go-to Platos since they opened. They’re always very clean, heavy rotation in new gear, along with friendly staff. The staff are the best part of the shopping experience. Majority of my best finds have come from this Plato’s closet.

Lorraine Kennedy

One stop buy/sell shop...LOVE it! This place is amazing...I was able to sell my items and shop, both for which I made points for future purchases which I'll be using for sure as so many current fashion items in new condition at a great price. The staff is very friendly, helpful, very knowledgeable and up to date on ALL fashion trends, specifically for teens/twenties...30+ store would be fabulous! I was amazed at how fluid/seamless the whole process of selling was AND no appointment necessary...priceless!

I was discriminated against at this location today. I brought 3 bins full of clothes which were mostly Calvin Klein (a brand they buy according to their website). I was told it would be about an hour and they would call me. The young lady at the counter confirmed my phone number. After waiting for nearly six hours I called and I was told they "tried"d to call me less than 30 mins later and I provided the incorrect number. When I returned to the store no one wanted to serve me (there were 3 girls behind the counter). Finally one girl told me to go to the other side and I waited patiently when another girl finally asked me for my number (there was no one at the counter at all). I told her it was number 13, She said we rejected everything because if the style of clothing. Mind you I had various styles from jeans casual to formal and they did not take not one piece of clothes. She told me to try my luck at Encore up the street.

COOLEST AND BEST PLACE TO SHOP. Staff is beyond friendly and so accommodating. The most perfectly curated collection of pristine condition thrift. Save the planet and shop here because it’s so worth it!!! When you bring stuff in for buying the experience is seamless with knowledgeable staff updated on the seasons latest styles but also very fair for the price. 10/10 recommend and will always come back.

Kassidy R

I never got the chance to catch the employees name, but the man who constantly interacts and dances with customers makes my shopping experience 10 times better! He is the best! I love this store in general and they always have some great finds! :)

Emma Middleton

had a lovely time today at this location! got two great items at a great price, but what really stuck out was the employee who sparked up energetic conversation with me. he said he has worked there for some time and was the floor rack organizer i believe didn’t catch his name. really lovely and kind!

Kristin Venzke

Kept me waiting over 25 minutes, then rudely told me that my 3 brand new/unworn items and a few very well taken care of, gently used items were "too worn" to be taken. Clothes on the rack for sale in the store were shabby and looked tattered. Disappointing and rude service.

Brad B.

Always able to score some nice stuff at a decent price here, some of it is brand new.

Alexandra M

This is my favourite store for a great bargain! They have absolutely amazing staff. Everyone in that store is always smiling and genuinely look like they love their job. They are very helpful and easy to approach. Shopping here is so easy and fun :)

S Ravi

Owner was very kind. I brought a lot of my clothes here to sell. The owner took a look at everything and also took the time to explain the pricing and the percentage I would get back on the clothes I was selling. She also showed the styles she was interested in and what clothing was not selling/ trending at the moment. Once done sorting through all the items I brought she let me know what she would pay for the ones she was interested in. I agreed with her pricing and felt it was fair. I also browsed the store and found some very cool and trendy items. The store was well kept and very clean. Certainly will be back to sell clothes and buy.

Tong J

That's awesome. I got 30 bucks to exchange coffee. Most of those clothes i brought to the store are new,so the staff called me back within 10mins that I even haven't grabbed my coffee. Recommend! And staff girls are friendly.

Shanyn Stead

This is by far the worst location in the GTHA. They're very picky on purchasing [great brand name, Aritzia, Urban Outfitters, Zara..etc.] items yet the store is full of mediocre items. Picking up my items and cash is always annoying because they're just not efficient. I would recommend checking out another location if you want the most $ for your items. Response to Owner: Actually, it was not the first time I sold to your location. I've been there multiple times, as well as sold at other locations such as Burlington, Brampton and Milton which is how I was able to write an honest review. I've left your location with a full basket, took it straight to another location and most items your store chose not to purchase another location did. Which means my items were not worn, faded or stained. I've also decided to take my items back and sell them elsewhere as your offer was too low, I took those exact items to another location and made almost twice as much as you were offering. As I said before, I wrote this review thoughtfully after selling at your location more than once. If your system does not reflect that, it's an error on your part.

Jesse Winters

A trendy little thrift store. The clothes they buy are appraised, so they are almost all like new and don't have mystery stains or rips like Value Village buys. But they are a little more expensive because of that. Lots of their clothes are from Forever 21-style stores if that's your thing. Always lots of interesting patterns and funky cuts. The staff are always really nice and helpful too.

Laura Hooper

There is something special about this Plato’s Closet. I am a new hire at this location and every member of the staff has been so wonderful, helpful and positive. The atmosphere of any store is influenced by the employees of that location and I believe that this Plato’s is such a good place to work (and shop) because of the environment created by the staff. It’s also nice to work in an environment that is body positive. Our plus size selection is expanding daily and it is great to know that us plus size girls can sell and shop recycled clothes too. Definitely come and check this Plato’s location out, I think you will like what you find. I know that I have.

Ellie S

Cute place with AWESOME employees. Found some sick jeans and top for a decent price. Don't expect too much tho if you bring clothe in to sell. Brought in a huge bag that contained brand new sports leggings, brand new Hollister shirt, Guess jeans and other brand items such as Forever XXI but NOTHING was taken.

Brooke G

Smallest selection I've ever been to... also if you're plus sized it's a waste of time going ! They only went up to XL but only had one or two items in SOME of the XL sections.

SARA Leth

Horrible experience, the price u get will be unbelievable low. If u really care ur cloth and take care them on good condition, RUN. Ridiculous Low price u were never thought, should go online to sell. They are only pick good brand and the style they picked by their store love (the past fashion don’t even bother to bring) Very agree last review, so regret not read he/her comment then go this store. Go try other store

Safa Al-Khateeb

Going to keep it short and simple: The store is clean and well-kept The staff are really friendly and welcoming However, any time I bring clothes in to sell (and I've noticed this particularly with this location), I feel like I get back nowhere close to what the items should be sold at. I brought in two Zara jackets, and they were priced under 20 dollars (separately)...which makes no sense to me because I've looked through the store and there are items on the racks that are priced HIGHER, yet are of completely subpar quality or not even in style anymore! I understand their business model and that they sell at 50-70% of the retail price and I would get 30-40% of that price, but it was still quite disappointing.

Excellent shopping experience at Plato's Closet Oakville. The store is very clean and incredibly organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The merchandise for sale is pristine and of excellent quality. I was able to sell my gently used clothes and walk out with incredible finds at very reasonable prices. It's a rewarding shopping experience by far.

Nicole Kim

I’ve been both the seller and buyer for the past two years. The store is clean has a nice vibe. I’ve made some really great purchases and sold a lot. I noticed that they’ve become a little bit much pickier in selecting what they buy so make sure the items you bring in are up to trend. I’ve personally never had issues with the staff as they’re helpful both in person and over the phone.

sarina L

Walked in here about 3 weeks ago and couldn't find a single item I liked. Most of the items were very low quality brands, literally Ardene and Walmart type clothing. Couldn't find a single nice top from a recognizable brand. They had a few Aritzia items but they were very worn and not really in the condition where I would be paying over 20 dollars for such a heavily used item.

CHRIS Vanellis

My first time into this location on recommendation of friends, seems really organized and clean. I got a couple of shirts, brand new with tags. Really friendly staff. I think I met one of the owners, also really friendly and knowledgeable. I think i’ll try selling some of my stuff next time. Great concept!

Ola Rzeszutek

As an employee I must say, this is probably the most friendly and organized environment that I have ever encountered! Walking into the store knowing that I can consider not only my coworkers but even customers as my friend is a feeling like no other. The fact that 95% of my wardrobe is created from walking through the aisles outside of work is a plus ;) The way the store is organized helps not only me but thousands of other people to really find what they're looking for. This isn't just a job for me, it's an opportunity to meet so many people that come in and out of the store, learning new things about people (every buy has a story!), and being able to put a smile on someones face that remains for the rest of the day. Needless to say, the shopping and working experience that I have experienced is impeccable and I wouldn't be writing a review if it wasn't!

Lyndsay Woolridge

A great store to shop in, and their social media team runs things very smoothly during COVID. However I do feel that they are more selective in their buying than other locations.

Kate

Came to sell to the store and was told the wait time was around 2 hours. I live far and decided to wait because it was a lot of clothes and was shopping too. I ended up waiting around 3 hours and they told me they cannot buy any of my clothes because they had not been washed. My clothes were freshly washed before I came to the store and when I got my clothes back it looked like they did not even look at my clothes. I went to platos in Milton a couple days later and they bought most of my clothes. I was very upset after this experience.

Juliana Ponte

Another great trip Plato’s Oakville. Sold three bags full today and shopped while I waited for the staff to go through my things I found three dresses, a couple pair of shorts and some great tanks (that were on sale too) and after trading I still walked away with 45 dollars in my pocket. The girl who cashed me out was super busy but still took the time to explain what they wanted to buy and why they were leaving some clothes in my bags. Never leave here disappointed.

Judy BY

I cannot understand their process. You have to wait for more than 30min if you want to drop something. Why the owner cannot make a reservation with us? Waste so much time!!! I just noticed your explanation, but I have to say when I arrived at your door and called your staff to tell her I have something to drop off, whiled she just told us to wait for 30min. Actually we waited for more than 40min and called her again. She still didn’t go out to pickup. We had to go home after wasting so much time!!!

Wally Kelly

I think all the peppers that work at this gingerbread house is the sweetest most beautiful creatures ever lived in platos closet and my family loves every one so respect them

Juliet Stewart

wow! This is by far my favourite Platos closet!!! The staff here are so incredibly nice and helpful whenever I am in shopping or selling my items... the pay out isn't also huge but I never expect much due to their reasonable pricing system. Whenever I need the perfect last minute fit for a great price I always come here to shop and find what I need.

Amazing way to treat yourself & make some $$ while shopping. I'm a new mom and had a bit of a rough go the first few months with a new baby. I felt overwhelmed even going near a mall to try and get some new clothes for myself. The staff at platos closet Oakville is fantastic. I walked in to chill music and was calmly greeted. I had some items to sell to them and wanted to see if I could find anything for myself as a treat. They signed me in promptly and re- explained the full buying policy and wait time . I did end up finding a functional pair of jeans shoes a t-shirt and a spring jacket. When I had approached the front cash out to check on my items they were complete . They only purchased a few items but offered a " trade" for the items I wanted to purchase & I saved the tax!. They gave me a card with outfit ideas( incase I wanted to sell again) and were very professional and diplomatic with the explanation. I would not have been provided a 1/4 of that service at any store in the mall with younger staff. Thank you platos closet for making this new mom feel nice and ready for spring!

angela hong

Horrible Customer Service - Your employee Jess (Jus) has really got an attitude. I don’t know what your issues are, whether if you are having a bad day or just a snobby person, but you shouldn’t take it out on customers. I had a lot of branded items that this store likes to buy, but will be them to Good Will instead, I’m sure they will make a better use out of these clothing items and price them much more fairly. Surprise that this store is still in business with employees like her.

Kendra

Best staff & store. Cannot say enough good things about this location, i have always had a good experience. Thankful for the online insta shopping too. Love it all❤️❤️❤️

Deb Bennett

For all of you people looking for a great shopping experience....this is it! I have to say it has been a long time since I have experienced the customer service that this store offers. The staff was friendly, pleasant and very helpful. The layout of the store and the organization makes everything easy to find and the dressing rooms are clean and tidy. I was amazed at the quality of the garments for the price. Great store...great staff! Thanks to all.

Edge P.

Been to Plato's in Oakville a few times and have always had great service. Very friendly staff and have found some great deals on jeans and shoes. If you see something you know is a great deal, you should get it quickly because one time I saw an awesome wrist watch and came back 2 days later HOPING to buy it but it was already sold!

Brooklyn Taylor

If it was possible I would give this store zero stars. My experience was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I came in with some of my clothes to sell and I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. I said okay no questions asked I was sure they were busy. So long story short the girl who served me decided her "45 minute break" that was actually closer to an hour was more important than serving the only customer in line. When you are selling clothes to Plato's they ask for your ID so she very well knew that I was not from Oakville so waiting 45 minutes would be somewhat of an inconvenience. She then had the nerve to lie to my face saying that they were too busy to look at my clothes when I knew for a fact she took her break instead of serving a paying customer. To top it all off she didn't even take any of my clothes when most of them fit the 'style guide' and were in very good condition. EXTREMELY unimpressed! Worst customer service ever. Waste of my time and gas. I will not be returning to this location ever again! I hope her McDonald's was worth it.

Anthony Yarysh

Great selection of clothing, very fair prices , and the staff are very helpful. You never know what you might find ! I scored this sweet pineapple shirt for 7$

J Jynx

I usually find some really good stuff here! Like a couple months ago I found a Topshop denim jacket, tags still on (retail $75!!) for $15! It's a bit overwhelming sometimes though and it takes a bit of digging. Some of the clothes seem to be in a bit of an older condition or style sometimes though, so it can be a bit of a hit or miss depending on what day you go. All the staff are super friendly and helpful, though! I'm mostly a buyer but I have tried selling a couple times and I was pretty successful those times, I just looked around the store for about half an hour to an hour while they looked at my clothes and my order was processed pretty quickly. I didn't bring a lot in at once, though, the most at one time I think was 5 or 6 pieces. The one thing I don't like is that the clothes sometimes have a funny smell. It's not a bad smell, it's a kind of sweet, perfume-like smell that's too bad, but it's really, really strong like it's been soaked in it or something. It usually comes out with two or three washes, but it kind of clings to you for a bit even if you've only tried the clothes on. Overall though, pretty good selection, and a great place to find clothes if you have time to look!

alyssa ramirez

I love this place so much! Staff greeted me instantly and kept checking up on me to see how I was doing. I have gone to other locations and the Oakville one is by far much better especially for how neat and tidy it is. For example, their bins and floor are never overflowing or messy and clothes are always folded whereas the Burlington location has mountains of clothes! I recommend going here for sure.

Melissa c

They have a good selection of gently used name brand clothing. The selection is mostly feminine type clothing and the majority of it is workout and casual wear (they do carry masculine type clothing at this location but it is a smaller section of the store). I personally like to buy all of my workout wear second hand, so this selection is great for me. The employees here are all very pleasant and are eager to help. The space is organized and very clean as well. The process of selling clothing here is very simple, although I know people are sometimes disapointed in the outcome. If you bring clothing that you wouldn't want to leave the house in (stains, piling, shrinkage, even minor) don't bother trying to sell it. Nobody else is going to want to wear it either. They are most interested in buying items that were well taken care of. Clothing should also be either a classic style, or somewhat in style for them to be interested in it. I suggest just going into it without high expectations. You may or may not get as much money as you hoped but there is no sense making a fuss over it! Once you've done it a few times you well get a hang of it and have a better idea of what they like.

Amanda Grant

I came here to sell clothes during the week and all I can say is that this place is going downhill. I found that the new employees are not as friendly. I used to be greeted happily every time I walked in the store and while I shopped around, but not anymore. I was also standing at the cash area for a couple minutes before anyone noticed that I was waiting to check out. As well, I found that the lady working the buy counter (who I believe was one of the owners) was very rude and not personable at all. I used to love shopping here but the overall atmosphere isn't the same. You're better off shopping at the Burlington or Milton location.

Tiff C

I have been buying and selling at Oakville location for past 2 years and I'm very happy with my overall experience. They are somewhat picky with what they buy from you, but that means most (not saying all) of the clothes they sell are in great condition and newer styles. Prices are generally reasonable and I personally love their Instagram story sales. The staff are hit and miss but this location has been the best Plato's I've been to and will continue to support :)

r. s.

Definitely would not recommend going here. I brought in brand new brand name items with tags attached and received little to nothing for them. I was offered about a $1 per items for brand new Zara, Forever 21, American eagle and Abercrombie and Fitch denim shorts. The experience was very disappointing. Would definitely not recommend bringing items to this place as they will low ball you. You are better off selling the items on apps and other platforms than getting a $1 for a brand new $30+ item.

Joseph

The staff here went beyond my expectations. They all took a chance to interact with me. I brought in 7 bags of clothing. They bought about 1 bag of clothing and I walked out with $35 one hour later. Definitely recommend going here for selling your trendy clothing.

Satchmo Taylor

Thought the store would be mainly for younger people but was surprised to learn that there were fabulous deals (and prices) for those a bit older. Found some great brand name shoes and boots that were almost new in appearance for a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Store staff were extremely helpful and pointed me to other bargains (tops etc) that I had not seen. Good shopping experience and a store that I have recommended to many friends.

Jason Joers

Extremely awesome selection every time i go . Best for buying not selling but if you have stuff less than two seasons old and nonsmoker you can get approx 5% its original price which is really fair . Its got the best second hand stuff for men . Check it out ????

ME T

I don't really even know where to start! First off I love second hand shops and for sure shops that I am able to get great clothes at amazing prices and especially if that happens to include great brands. Well...from the moment you walk in the smell of this place is amazing and inviting! I need to find out there secret on that! The staff is always so friendly and especially Jill!! She just makes this place! Always so helpful and friendly. I never walk out of this place with either having a great talk and a bag of great buys or just having had a great convo to encourage me. Can't say enough about this place. So much hard work they all put in to make this Plato's stand above and beyond fellow stores. Great job Plato's Oakville! You have a client for as long as you are there with s warm smile and grateful for your customers! All the best and know you are loved by me!

Alexa Gillner

I never leave the store empty handed, I love the savings and the designer labels they offer. Staff is awesome and super friendly! I also love how organized and clean it is every time I shop there. This is the best Plato's Closet I have ever been to!

C Chu

Not bad for a first experience at Plato's Closet. I brought in 2 bags of clothes (mostly women's tops, bottoms, and jewelry and some of my husband's menswear, all of which were in excellent condition. Some were brand new and sealed in packaging / had tags). Even though people advise not to visit on Saturdays because it gets really busy, I arrived at 10:15am on Saturday and was 3rd in line to sell, which was about a 30 min wait before they started looking at my clothes. I ended up selling a bag for $50.75 (about 16 pieces) which averages $3 per piece, which is super low because some things had their price tags on them like a necklace from RW&CO that was $49.99. In terms of selling clothes, here are some observations: - Plato's target demographic is ages 13-20. Most of the clothes they sell in store is actually from random brands but there was a lot from F21. I brought clothes from the F21 (mostly), Banana Republic, Zara, Hollister, RWCo, Uniqlo, underarmour, and keds shoes. They did not take any of the Banana clothes and actually told me that too much of my clothes were business casual which did not fit with their vibe (this I totally understand. Take your business clothes to Style Encore). - They took all my clothes that were brand new with tags but offered the same price as the old clothes on these items. - They don't let you watch them price your clothes / explain to them the condition - everything is based on the sales associate's judgement and mood that day. They quickly sift through your clothes and don't even open up some items (I saw them throw my Hollister aside without opening it to see the label. Perhaps they assumed it was unbranded). Then, they enter the clothes they want to accept into the system and the price is system-calculated. - They say they only take clothes that are 1-1.5 years old. However, I found that pretty inconsistent after going through the racks in their store as some items had holes, and were poor quality and condition. I ended up selling the brand new with tag items and super old items in my closet, but not much of the in-between items. I couldn't find much of a trend in how they determined what to buy from me. Tips: - Launder, iron/steam, and fold your clothes so they are presentable. Put your clothes in a nice bag. - Bring clothes that are in season. It seems like they are into cardigans at this time of year (November). - Clothing from Aritizia seems to be one of the highest priced brands they sell in their store. They retail Aritzia sweaters for about $25 so that means you will be getting about 30-40% of that in your pocket. For other clothes, they sell them for about $15-20. I would recommend taking your Aritzia to Style Encore. SE buys your clothes for more money because they're priced higher afterwards (SE's target demographic is women, not teenagers). - Visit the Plato's website and look for locations with Stars beside the name (like Oakville). These locations are known for better quality and customer service. In terms of buying clothes, I could not find anything I liked at Plato's. They only had one tiny rack of Aritzia and a couple of items scattered in the shelves. Most of the Aritzia was too old for me to justify buying. I shop at Aritzia regularly and the styles sold at Plato's were super outdated (demonstrating that they make exceptions to their 1-1.5 year rule when it comes to coveted brands). I'm pretty happy that I was able to sell more items that expected, but that's only because I got money out of things sitting in a garbage bag at home that I was going to donate anyway. If you're looking to sell things to turn a profit, maybe try Poshmark :)

I liked the atmosphere before today. I went in unknowing of how to resell clothes and innocently brought a garbage bag full of clothing that was not up to their standards-which I understand. During my visit, an employee was making snarky remarks to other co-workers (as well towards me) about how I had obviously never been to the store before and she could tell my lack of knowledge by what I brought and how I brought it . Again, I understand that the clothing may not have been what they were looking for, yet I would have appreciated more compassion and patience with a customer who had never done business with them. If I were to return, I would expect more professionism next time ! :)

Platos Closet Oakville is probably the best buy and sell retail store in the Oakville area. I am the assistant manager there and I absolutely love it. The staff are all incredible, hard-working, intelligent, friendly people. I have become such good friends with so many of them. We did just switch owners and let me tell you Carolyn PCO's new owner is absolutely amazing. A very kind-hearted level headed hard working woman. She has brought so many opportunities and lessons to the store that has changed the store in a positive manner. We are lucky that Mel and Jill sold the store to Carolyn, I wouldn't want anyone else to have taken over PCO. I highly suggest coming in and shopping around our store. we have trendy awesome product and I now only shop from the store. we also are always happy to go through customers items that they would like to sell to us and we will always take the time to answer any questions or concerns a customer might have. Hopefully you check us out and fall in love with the store just like I have.

I don’t know who exactly is writing these comments but I can tell you that this store does not deserve its high rating or even one star at all. I went to this store after checking out sales at H&M and discovered that one of the sweatshirts on discount at that store was being sold for almost triple the price. The clothes were all mediocre with all of the jeans being only for petite girls mostly. Customer service wasn’t that great either. Please don’t waste your time at this store!!!

Friendly staff and nice location. I come here all the way from Brampton (as Brampton has a Plato’s too) to buy and sell, and it is so much better. Clean store and organized layout of the items. The items they buy from people are actually clean and look well taken care of, Brampton’s Plato’s sells items that look worn out and have stains on them... In terms of selling my clothes, I understand why they don’t take a lot, but I still get a good amount of money from what they do take.????????

Just wanted to take the time to make a review after my amazing experience today. I have been to a lot of other Plato's Closets and I love this one. The staff are enthusiastic, and the place is very well organized. It was nice to find some dresses and outfits that I would actually wear that didn't drain my bank account. I usually don't do reviews but I felt the need to today after finding great stuff, having great customer service, and being in a clean store.

Great location and has a good selection!!! I got to Sheridan for classes so it’s really convenient plus the parking is good too. The cashier was really kind and funny and she had cool pants. Got some BNWT stuff from fashion nova!

This is perhaps the most amazing store i have ever been to! Not only do they have a huge selection of great deals, but they present it in a way no other second hand store does! the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the store and the whole ambiance from the minute you walk in the door is fantastic!! They take the time to explain what they buy and why, and even to show why they are passing on items. They have a great points system that allows you to easily reach the target of 20% off (as if we even need that) time and time again. The are always smiling and having a great time... a reason to revisit a store over and over again. There is nothing i would change about this place... great job Plato's closet!!! keep up the phenomenal work! mona

Great place to go to get rid of your lightly worn clothes and find some cute trendy items! Don't expect to make much money when selling clothes though - the store offers only a fraction of the original price. The store is currently closed but they are selling through Instagram with e-transfers right now. They post most of their updates on their Instagram stories. If you want to sell clothes, call them once you're outside of the store and they will come out to take your stuff. Expect at least 30min - 1h at minimum for them to get back to you.

Horrible location. Rude staff and owners who accuse and provoke people not to forget discriminate against guys who are black. Their doors are not wheelchair accessible. Lineups are way to long. The fragrance masks the stench in the changerooms and the clothing in the store. The quality of their clothes are horrible and they are over priced. They give you pennies for really good high end brands yet they sell it for 5 times more. Don't bother coming to waste your money and time here! I see that you respond to every post and don't take ownership nor apologize for any of the wrongs people have experienced. Peace out

I love shopping at Platos in Oakville, not just because they have great deals and promotions and fantastic finds but because of the fantastic customer service that they provide there! Both Jill and Melody are the amazing business owners who definitely know what they're doing, who always aim to please and exceed my expectations every time I visit. I always have and will continue to recommend this location to all friends and family????

I am addicted to shopping here, I can find something i love every time. I always have a great time its a thrill finding name brand pieces for less plus the staff is always so nice and friendly. On the buying side they are very thorough and fair when purchasing clothing and only pick the best quality stuff. Plato's closet allows me to stay on trends for less.
