Very poor service. I went to the store, upon my entering one of the staffs asked me "what are you looking for with an annoying expression" I was surprised to see such poor greetings in Halifax. None of the staffs spoke to me and they were very unwelcoming.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I went there a few weeks ago, and when I walked in, the owner/manager was yelling at someone on the phone and did not greet my mother and I. My mother was holding a cup of coffee, and when the woman finally got off the phone and came to talk to us, she just TOOK THE COFFEE CUP FROM MY MOM'S HAND! She did not ask or say anything, she simply took it from her hand as if she was an authority dealing with a child. Sure, I understand why food and drinks would not be allowed, but there was no sign anywhere and she could have asked my mother to throw the cup away. And to make the situation even more ABSURD, the owner's DOG was walking around the store! What??? ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!! The dresses weren't even that pretty and they were overpriced.

I was unimpressed with my experience at Avella, and don't recommend going there unless you look like money on legs. The sales rep was condencending and snotty. After a few minutes of chatting (didn't even get the chance to get near the dresses), she informed me that my "journey is over", and she went back behind her desk. As in bye bye, get out. What!? Just because I don't have a designer hand bag, doesn't give them the right to discriminate. I just went to Karma bridal shop where I am now going to purchase my four bridesmaids dresses. Never judge a book by it's cover folks. Rude.

My daughter and I drove from #7 highway in Dartmouth to Beautiful on Tuesday. We arrived after 5pm and had no idea that the store closed at 5 pm. We were welcomed and greeted by the owner with open arms who was in the middle of a photo shoot. She allowed us to walk through the store and even try some dresses on. There was a great bunch of ladies there who actually gave my daughter the “yay or nay” on dress choices which made our experience that much more enjoyable. My daughter felt like a princess and not an inconvenience even though we showed up not only when the store was closed but in the middle of a scheduled appointment. I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a dress, not only for the experience but the beautiful dress selection. There are so many beautiful dresses to choose from, a very big selection. All this to say, my daughter said YES TO THE DRESS, and the worry and hunt is behind us. Grad 12 prom, she’s ready. I’ve gone in here a couple of times and both times I had a terrible experience. Employees are really rude. I tried taking a picture of one of my friends in a dress, and got yelled at for it, and was asked to delete it. Will never be purchasing a dress from here, and I don’t recommend this store to anyone looking for a dress.

I do not believe I have ever left a positive review of this store in the past, despite claims that I have. As for my decision not to leave a comment, it is very similar to the staff's indifference towards customers. It is a little bizarre how you take to the web to immediately combat every customer's review. Even on posts with many reasons for their choice of rating, you do not seem interested in self-improvement, and are instead defensive.

What I was worried would be a challenging and long endeavour was a dream at Beautiful. The woman at the front desk was able to take what my niece said and turn it into choices that lifted her confidence and empowered her. She walked out of the boutique elevated, loving her body and how she looked in the choices provided. A trip for a single prom dress turned into two dresses, one for what may be down the road. Dreams fulfilled with more to come. A pleasure to have shared in that experience

The prom dressed I purchased is way overpriced for the quality as the dress is falling apart practically, even though it has been kept in the bag provided by the store since i bought it and has not been touched. I do not recommend this store or their dresses.

It’s unfortunate because I recommended this spot to my girlfriend and I bought my daughters prom dress there the year before, however the lady that we dealt with was serving someone else...

I gave Beautiful a 5 star rating but they personally have surpassed 5 stars. Not only is the shop beautiful with it's elegant design, but the service is even more so. The ladies there took the extra time to measure me and help look for my dream dress in my prime range. They went above and beyond to help me, calling their other store to see if they could find a dress for me. I truly am thankful for their help and kindness and will recommend for everyone to shop there.

Very unprofessional ! A one star is way to much .This stores experience has been a nightmare as is the owner! My daughter got fitted for a gown at beautiful and some how got measured wrong my daughter has been the same size since grade 8 .And now has a gown that don't fit. She was told to loose weight if you could imagine! Suck your gut in .watch the video of how to put it on its suposto be so tight she was told...this coming from a woman that isn't so small herself. My daughter wears a 2 -4 so what is the is the issue? My sister went to the store to speak with the owner after I had called allready 4 times and sent emails with no luck in resolving the matter unless I was to pay an additional 400$ for restocking fees for another dress. ( keep in mind we live in NewBrunswick)So my daughter drove to Halifax with the dress after many emails and face book messages were exchanged with no luck. My sister who lives in Halifax went in to the store to speak with the owner and left my under age upset daughter in the carhopeing they as adults could come to a resolution with no luck she told my daughter to come in as the ower was treating her horrific! and was asked to leave the store by the owner waving a hot steamer at her ! All because she asked for an exchange on the dress so my review is to all those who are looking for a dress for their daughter I'd go else where .I definitely would not put my daughter threw this heartache .Your gowns may be "Beautiful" but you and your staff are far from it. You are the most argerent unprofessional people we have ever met. And just a little food for thought.... if I was you I'd be carefully you you wave your steamer at you be be charged! And as for you saying she is happy with the fit of her dress she is not happy one bit.And her dress does not fit what so ever . and the dresses you offered were nothing comparable to hers and the selection was minamil. so she took her original dress that is too small and left .You gave her No choice to do so . so don't suger coat your true colors lady .I will see that my daughter's dream dress fits her No thanks to you ! Or help from you or or staff

My daughter tried on many dresses before making her choice and was not rushed at any time. We had a lovely experience and would not hesitate to send anyone looking for formal wear to Beautiful! I'm giving one star because of the poor service I received at this store. I went with two of my friends and we got help from one of the ladies at the desk. My two friends tried on their dresses first and as they were trying them on the woman was complimenting them and recommended certain dresses for them, spending almost 10 minutes of her time on each of them. When it was my turn, I came out in my dress and the woman looked at me and walked away. She went over to the desk where she just socialized with her coworkers and ignored me. I didn't receive the same treatment as my friends did and it was shocking. After I went back to put on my second dress a different woman came up outside the changing room and impatiently asked if I was done yet even though we were the only ones in the store. It was super obvious that I was being singled out because my friends even brought it up to me as we were leaving. I'm overall just upset over the service and hope that no one else gets treated this way. I also purchased my semi dress from this store a few years ago from the owner who was very pleasant, it's a shame she wasn't there to witness what happened.

Is there some other dress company supporting / involved in this shop that we can contact to get some help with our daughters dress ? Measurements are completely off and the only other contact we have is in Montreal and he can't help us unless we go through Denise ! Problem is , she won't respond to calls or messages . There is so much to say but I don't want to be ignorant . We just want the commitment of help we were promised when we purchased my daughters $1000 dress. RESPONSE ,,,,, we were told that any issues had to be discussed with you Miss Denise !!!! He did not tell my wife "no" that he couldn't / wouldn't help he just stated his contractual obligations to you. I'm assuming he thought you would have the courtesy to get back to us. Obviously looking back through the reviews we are not the only ones who have had the same trouble with the sizing issue . You were the one who told my wife you would call back . I'm sure you remember the conversation . It's was when you told her ,,,, in your words ,,, " you are living in Timbuktu". How professional ! Anyway ,,, the answer is apparent ,,,,there is no help from you. Thanks for nothing .. And the correct spelling is V E T O , it's a polite way of telling some NO which I'm sure is quite common in your vocabulary !!! Sincerely yours Steven , from all the way up here in Labrador !

Seriously the worst dress store in Halifax. The owner is incredibly condescending, and extremely clingy to the customer. My sister went in to try on a prom dress, and the owner was constantly walking into the changing room to talk about size/look of the dress before our mother even took a look at it. She was very critical of size and wouldn’t let my sister even try a dress on that could have been smaller. She was the definition of a helicopter sales associate. Unimpressed by this visit, will not recommended this store to anybody.

First of all their business card says biggest selection in eastern Canada and there was not a whole lot there to begin with. When we first walked in, my daughter and I looked at dresses on the rack and a sales woman promptly told us that 'oh those are couture, those are probably too expensive for you' . I was not pleased with their attitudes or assumptions. When my daughter found a dress she liked they were very pushy and tried to make us buy it right then and there, wouldn't even let us take a picture. Another thing is that there were a few dresses my daughter liked but weren't in her size, upon asking if they had any others in her size they informed us that they only buy one of each, yet we saw 2/3 dresses exactly the same on a rack towards the back. So when my daughter asked if they could order the same dress in her size if she liked it they said no, and that she could order a dress that no one else would have but she couldn't try it on first or return it if she didn't like it. ... overall not pleased with the service or the selection

I took my daugher and her friend - grade 9 students there for the first time to try on prom dresses and we got as far as the door and were told that they could not try on dresses cause they were for sale and not dress up and that they were over a thousand dollars to buy. I have never been so discussted to be treated as though I was not worthy of being there. I may not have a huge bank account but we should be treated with better respect. I will never go threre again.

This store is the best!!! I went there over the weekend to buy my prom dress, the staff is not only incredibly sweet and friendly, but they are so so helpful! The have a very good variety of dresses in all kind of styles and colours, let you try them on, and they even have a bell they ring when someone picks out their dress and the whole store claps. This year is my first and only prom and they helped create the dress shopping experience to be the best it could possibly be. They also have taken great covid 19 precautions without being to overbearing (encourage distance and masks, limiting numbers, but no confusing arrows on the floor). This store is a wonderful experience and I am so happy I was able to shop here!!

What an amazing experience from the moment we walked through the door we were greeted with pleasant ,friendly the owner was more than helpful she picked many different options for my daughter to try on and saved the best for last which ended up being the dress. The prices are also very fair! So glad we took the time to stop in and check this shop out after our earlier trip into a popular Downton Halifax dress shop was very disappointing and discouraging. This has been my second time here and I must say it has been amazing. If I had to go by someone else's experience, I would of missed out on getting the perfect dress for my two international daughters. The service was amazing. They were so helpful in getting the right sizes and colors that we both loved. We walked in and hour 1/2 later we walked out happy with a beautiful dress and a great price in our price range. Although the dresses at Beautiful Dresses at Avella are very beautiful and the ladies seemed nice I feel to leave this review. My daughter bought a dress from them then when she asked if they recommend a tailor, they sent her to a tailor in Quinpool Street in Halifax. We thought no problem we'll go to a tailor in Halifax which is 25 minutes away considering the traffic. We had to pay $100 to take the sides of the dress in and struggled to find a place to park. A week after my daughter's cousin bought a dress from them that needed the same amount of work but she knew a quality tailor so she took it there. When we asked the cousin how much she had to pay, she said $40 which is a way cheaper than the price we paid for the same work. We looked at the dress and the work has done beautifully on it which gives no excuse. We were very upset and asked her where did she take it, she said to a tailor which is located one block away from Beautiful Dresses at Avella at the Esquire. We were really shocked. Do they know there is a tailor there? Do they know that Bedford is full of good tailors -which the cousin mentioned after-? Are they friends with the tailor in Quinpool Street so they send people there? In all circumstances this is not good for their business. So a 3 star for not putting their customers at ease and for sending them to places where they overcharge for services.

I was told I shouldn’t try a specific dress on because it wouldn’t look good on me and I didn’t have the right body shape for it. (I am a size 4 and I like the shape of my body, and I thought I would look good in the dress I had picked out for myself). I was shocked that the owner would even say something like that to a costumer, especially knowing no backround into what kind of dress I was looking for. The way I was treated was very unprofessional and I definitely will not be going to this store again, and definitely will be recommending others try different prom dress stores where the staff are welcoming and nice to be around.

I give this place a zero. I wanted to leave a review but after reading the condescending reviews from the owner in other post it is not worth my time. I will not be talked to with disrespect and insulted all within 4 minutes of being in your store. You do not have to reply and try and defend yourself because you will twist it like the rest of the replies to customers or potential customers posts.

I have been in a couple times now, and received poor service. I completely understand that when it is busy it is a first-come-first-served environment, but even when I've been one of the only people in the shop it has seemed difficult to rally the staff's attention to helping me with looking at/trying dresses. On one occasion, the woman - blonde, middle-aged/scottish (perhaps?), seemed more interested with something on her phone than myself and another client. Unfortunately I don't think I will be back...

We had a wonderful experience in this boutique while shopping for my daughter's prom dress. She has a shapely figure and we typically have to buy formal wear in a larger size and have it tailored down to fit properly. The woman who owns this boutique helped us find the right styles to try on her figure to complement her shape. We were amazed that every dress she tried on was flattering and once we knew what features we should look for made for a truly enjoyable experience! Each dress she tried was beautiful, but the one she chose is absolutely beautiful and no tailoring is necessary! It's like it was made just for her!!!???? When she saw herself in it she was positively glowing!!! She looked so happy I cried!! We will return to BEAUTIFUL Dresses at Avella when it is our younger daughter's turn for prom. Thank you so much for making our dress shopping experience so great!!!
