I couldn't leave the store.it is amazing.
Lovely cute vibe. Amazingly cheap products. Always find what I need here.
Love the staff, so sweet, friendly and so helpful. Prices and selections are excellent. It's the source for everything sewing related. Fantastic Halloween costume options too.
Staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Interested in my project and helped me decide on some options. Strange hours of operation and security following you around like a hawk are the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Understand the location requires security staff to deal with the heavy homeless population in the neighborhood. Despite this the staff are still very friendly. Pricing is reasonable and I won't be going back to a Michaels ever again.
Pros - - Large store (2 stories ) - Awesome selection of fabrics in all price ranges Cons - -Rude Staff -Unhelpful Staff
All the staff are super helpful at helping you find the fabric you're after
I went to Dressew for a zipper clasp and decided to buy a basket of shells. When I got to the register I noticed the starfish was broken so asked the teller If I could have a small discount. She was polite and said she would have to ask the supervisor. So she went and asked and I heard the supervisor flat out said "No discount". So I bought it anyway because there was a specific shell in the basket I wanted, and there was a line up outside. I didn't want to go all the way back downstairs to look for another. I must say I'm not impressed as any other retail store would give a discount if something was broken...
Quick Rundown: Staff are hit or miss. Prices are great. Selection is awesome. Okay, now some detail. It's a quick walk from Waterfront station, and it's INTERAC/DEBIT AND CASH ONLY! As the signs and the people will remind you. This is definitely a place to go if you know what you're doing. Often times the staff are uninterested in helping you, and the most they'll do for you is cut your fabric. You're on your own. Upstairs is mostly fabric, and downstairs they have all the extra accessories - buttons, zippers, etc. They also have discount fabric downstairs, and it's fun to rummage through everything and find a good deal.
I love this place! Always so many options at grewt prices. Staff is friendly and always helpful.
Huge selection of fabrics and notions at fantastic prices. Best place to go for costume supplies. There's every notion that you can imagine from elastics by the meter to specialty beaded appliques. Even found faux fur that matched Jon Snow's cloak from Game of Thrones
Dressew is a sewing (and crafting) haven! It's got an amazing selection of fabrics at great prices. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Make sure to leave enough time for browsing, and note their hours, as they close a bit early (5:15).
halloween is a very busy time for this place so beware going here at that time, lots of options for costumes here, and tonnes of interesting fabrics, close the transit
You can always find everything in there and for a really good price. I always recommend when I’m feeling creative and looking for fabric and other things for some diy projects
I asked for thread and needle and they pointed so i ended up buying 10 $ worth of tapestry needles blunt ypu think tbey w9uld have pointed it out theres also no returns
A really nice place to find all kind of fabrics and sewing materials. On the first floor, the shop offers a great choice of linen and cotton and Halloween costumes too. The underground floor is where you can make great deals. I bought 2 m for 4 dollars for a piece of black synthetic fabric to make a vampire cape for Halloween. The staff was nice too.
They have very good fabric selection but the customer service is horrible. I was looking around at things, picked something up to look at and then put it back and had some random guy who I assume is security start demanding to search my bag …
Their service is ????.
My favourite sewing supply store. I always have a lot of fun looking at their rotating stock. Very decent prices, great bargain bins, really cute little patches and buttons. Love it!!!
I have never been to a fabric store before and my daughter is quite artistic and loves making her own Halloween costumes so this year I took her to the fabric store and oh my God they have the selection like you would not believe they have absolutely anything and everything you need and also online every kind of Halloween costume for children and adults every kind of fabric supplies you need and the employees are amazing the gentleman that helped my daughter and myself was great and they're very on top of their covid-19 safety protocol check it out you'll love it
Great funky sewing shop with a huge selection on notions for every application!
Dressew is closed until the 9th I think
The place in Vancouver to find whatever you need to saw and knit and all that stuff.
Hands down the best notions store I've ever been to. Has everything you could possibly need
They are okay... They have security at the front door, to enforce a strict "no drinks" inside policy. The prices are fair, staff is friendly enough... But overall satisfaction, I can't rightfully give more than 3 stars...
Not as good as it used to be with the new layout, I found it hard to find what I was looking for and it's a bit cramped. Some of the costumers are rude, it doesn't hurt to be polite. It's not in a nice or decent area of town either.
Everything you mind can craft up and then some.
This place has been a favorite of mine for over a decade, and I always stop in when I come to Vancouver. The selection of notions and zippers in the basement is incredible - you can find just about anything you may need for sewing and the prices are pretty good. I bought 15 meters of mint green moire satin that I can't wait to do something with.
I absolutely adore dressew! There is nothing else like it for craft and sewing supplies! So many amazing fabrics from plastic to silk to fun furs! Beads, zippers, feathers, hooks and costumes this place has it all!!
The old lady with short hair is very unnecessarily rude. She treats everyone terribly even when they're nice back. She definitely needs a lesson or two in customer service, or just people skills in general. Very displeased. The rest of the staff is fantastic, so it is unfortunate to see a bad egg in an otherwise great store.
My favourite spring/summer top is completely frayed at the collar. My wife has given me the ultimatum. Replace the collar or get rid of the top. I have looked all over the world and cannot find the replacement. Today I visited Dresssew and was 100% looked after. Out of thousands of fabrics, they found me a beautiful cotton in blue that matches the blue in my top. Customer service par excellence.
My favorite fabric store in the lower mainland. You will almost certainly find what you're are looking for. Friendly staff great selection and pricing
Really friendly staff that didn't mind our amateurish dithering. Great bargains in the basement.
All of your sewing needs. Their cording/string/macrame supplies/ribbon collection is the best in town. They also have a bunch of weird 90's key chains and funky buttons. They have a huge amount of buttons. Staff is pretty helpful and nice.
Knowledgeable and helpful staff, price points for every budget, fabric for every budget , good selection of notions...what's not to love? My go to sewing supply location in Vancouver.
Store has lots of items. Staff are ok too. Love the prices and the choice. Great place to go if you are into crafting.
Store has lots of items. Staff are ok too. Love the prices and the choice. Great place to go if you are into crafting.
Outstanding selection, huge inventory, great service
Love this place. Like walking in a candy shop. Best place ever
Fabulous selection of products & neat patterns + price points are fair. Sometimes service can be a little cold but I can overlook that in exchange for the incredible variety of goods.
I love this place. I just started sawing not too long ago and the first time I was there the people working there were really helpful and sweet to show me what kind of things to look for in fabric, depending of what my first project was gonna be. They have all kinds of stuff and the prices are not bad. If you are planning to visit though, make sure you have cash or debit as those are the only two methods of payment they accept.
Excellent place
I visited this place for the first time after hearing about it for years. It’s a good store, having most of the items for sewing and crafting with on-sale items. I spent a good time walking around the store. Surprisingly, the receipt is too plain and short! The cashier was somehow rude and impolite when I asked her about the prices which I thought didn’t match with my items.
I don't know a thing about fabric bit I will say I showed a girl that worked there what I needed was directed to exactly the fabrics I was looking for thank u so much for making me feel comfortable
Dressew is my favourite stop for sewing goods. They probably have what you're looking for as well as surprises you didn't know you needed. Always check downstairs first, that's where they keep discounted fabrics, $2-5 a meter, and all the notions. Only downside is they aren't open late, so Saturdays can sometimes be busy. (Especially before Halloween)
Depending on what you're looking for they have great deals on quite abit of stuff.
Impressive store, looks like fabric heaven! Loved it. Fabric of the same quality is sold 5X on Amazon.
Beautiful ???? Good luck☀️
Great selection at a fair price!
Good fabric store at an accessible location. Wide variety of fabrics and notions. They don’t carry everything so I would call or message them first.
Called a few times and all I received was an answering machine. I ended up buying from Amazon. Saved me a trip from Whiterock to Downtown. To be honest, I'd much rather support a local business than Jeff Bezos.. but I'm not going to waste my time / gas driving 50kms to be let down. This world is full of competition, it's hard for a small business.. but damn, you have to provide adequate customer service or one day Jeff Bezos will rule the world.
Whilst there is a lineup a mile long as of late due to restrictions, and the windows don't look friendly due to having to board it up considering it's location, EVERY time I walk in here, I feel like I've stepped into a seamstress's/cosplayer's heaven! There are rolls and rolls of fabric, from cotton to industrial to fur, every notion and accessory you could ask for, and also has a well stocked supply of masks, hats and other accessories you might need for your outfit!
Have been my playground for many many years…
This is a fantastic store with friendly staff and heaps of good value crafting stuff. The name 'Dressew' is a little misleading as it sells much more than sewing stuff, with jewellery and leather work supplies, fancy dress things and more. There are also a lot of things on sale for 25 cents, making it cheap and easy to stock up. Definitely worth a visit if you're a crafty type, highly recommended.
Usually have what I need. Fabrics pretty pricy compared to already made clothing but that’s the cost to designer clothing I guess. Great employees easy to navigate the area. Cuts are exact. They never give more then you ask (not even a centimetre) so if you’re not sure, get an extra ten centimetres.
Didnt have what l wanted
Awesome place for all your sewing needs. Apparently there are notions here too. I just like saying the word "notions".... Is a seam ripper considered a notion; how about a spool of thread! I digress.. have a look around here, it's fun to see what they all stock. Lots of super deals on fabrics. Difficult to leave here without a cool fabric project brewing. Staff are very helpful and friendly!
Bought some fabric to make beeswax food wraps. They had many cute prints in 100% cotton. They washed well and I was able to make my wraps with the perfect fabric. I wish I bought more, as the second time I went to the store I wasn't able to find the fabric in the same spot. I hope Dressew survives the pandemic. I'd like to be back in person to browse those cotton prints!
Looking for fabric, notions, novelty yarn, costume supplies? This is the place. There's to a of fabric, varying levels of prices and quality, and the downstairs section has almost every notion you could ask for. The novelty yarns are excellently prices if you're looking for that kind of thing. You can buy leather pieces in varying colours, appliques, beads, buttons, quilting tools... it's a madhouse of creative inspiration. Staff is varying levels of helpful, some more than others, but you're likely to find what you're looking for.
This big store is jam packed with everything imaginable regarding sewing! It's always busy during Halloween season, as they have a huge array of excellent costumes, masks and accessories...they even stay open an hour longer the week of Halloween! Upstairs is choc full of a stunning array of fabric (and the costumes) and downstairs is where you'll locate accessories...zippers, elastic, thread, buttons etc. Staff are generally quite busy but always helpful. Store's been at this location on Hastings forever.
Excellent customer service, I know nothing about fabrics and everyone was so helpful. Can't recommend enough
Big store so it can be a bit overwhelming but there are knowledgeable and helpful staff! Huge selection of fabrics and sewing supplies. Worth a visit during holidays for costumes and accessories too! Reasonable prices. Gets busy during lunch time.
I had never been to dress sew before the pandemic. It was covered with plywood and I thought it was never going to open again. Only when a coworker told me she was at dress sew on Saturday was I aware it was even open. At my first chance I went down to see what I had been missing. After touring the store I saw they had a wide.variety of things but I guess I was expecting a wider variety of cool fabrics. Unless you drive by and see the open hole in the plywood you wouldn't know they were open. If they lost the plywood covering the store and got proper roll up security doors or even a sign saying they are open (Maybe on the 80ft to ply wood?) they might get more customers
Great range and great customer service, considering how busy this place gets. Great low prices for good quality. Huge range of fabrics, elastics, ribbons, buttons, zips (soooooo many zips), costumes, wigs, essentially everything craft related. Great bulk bin too, for those end of roll inspiring pieces. I have gotten lost and immersed in here for 2+ hours on several occasions. Massive thumbs up from me and my sewing pals!
Helpful staff. Abundant stock. One of the better establishments compared to others.
Very nice craft-like store. Usually busy here. but has all kinds of material for most craft things. good place to buy affordable craft supplies. sucks that they're only open until 5 though. I think it's a two level store? good place for your crafting needs ????
Selection and prices continue to be unbeatable for decades, this older but large store has fabric, notions, costumes and everything else in between. During busier times, staff can be less than friendly at the cutting tables, but otherwise fine. Updates with pictures of their latest stock appear regularly on their Facebook page.
A giant selection awaits you here! I don't think there's a single material I can think of that they don't here. Whatever project you are working on this is your one stop fabric and supplies shop. The staff is highly knowledgeable as well so don't be afraid to ask question. I've only ever received outstanding service!
I enjoyed going into the store got what I wanted . I found the staff fine they told me where to look or showed me no rudeness. Love the fact dogs are not allowed in the store, yes I love dogs just feel they do not belong in stores. I like the store hours when you look at the big picture of where this store. I feel keeping the staff and customer safe is more important than having to give up a Saturday or a rushed lunch hour to shop .
Staff was very friendly. Great variety and very clean!! Prices are reasonable.
Disgusting and Disgraceful show of conduct at your store that was filmed and seen by many ,I will tell everyone that I know to boycott your store UNREAL!!!!!
Helpful staff, great selection and good prices!
Shady part of town, but everything needed for sewing...
i give it 5 stars because of it's supplies, otherwise it is old outdated shop. If they would bring dress making patterns like before, it would be great. Recently all patterns is on line. In compare to modern and updated fabric stores in vancouver, dressew has lots of supplies for sewing and craft making that you might not find in other fabric stores.
A Vancouver institution. I don't often go into fabric stores, and I'm always nervous when I do - there seems to be a whole language and culture around sewing that I don't understand. The staff here were so helpful and friendly that I was able to get what I needed, quickly, with no stress.
Very helpful staff and great prices!
Lots of sewing materials, and the service is friendly!
A Vancouver institution. Great selection and fair pricing. If I need something for a costume, outfit, or sewing project, I start here. They also have all the small hand tools one might need to do clothing repairs. They have a decent props and costumes selection as well that is there year round, with seasonal items. I find the staff to be knowledgeable and pleasant, but it can get busy for them sometimes. The location is very convenient, as it is a short walk from the downtown core and has reliable transit nearby.
I ordered from the website and got it next day. They have this small window now to give your products. It's pretty cheap and you can find whatever you look for! Just visit the website!

This is a large fabric store. It has a large selection of fabrics and notions. Reasonably friendly staff. They also have a surprisingly large section of costume makeup, wigs, etc.
Always find what I'm looking for and more! Great customer service and prices. The sales are amazing! The look of the store is outdated/vintage maybe they can consider a renovation.
Good selection of fabric's, but on the overpriced side. Not a fan of the new layout, I found it hard to find what I was looking for. Staff aren't the friendliest, especially the older ladies but I suppose they do their job. The security guard at the front watches you like a hawk, I would appreciate not being treated like a shoplifter next time.
Great selection of fabrics and crafting supplies. Very friendly staff everytime
I go in for one thing and always come out with ten more things. Unique selection. Reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful.
So much fabric and odds and sods to pick from. It's a good place if you need an unique item to complete an outfit. The only downside is their closing time.
I'm a professional tailor, and although "tailor's supply' - as opposed to 'dressmaker supply' or 'fabric' stores - are few and far between, I LOVE this place! The goods are both 'well organized' and 'chaotic', so I can shop in the confidence that I'll probably find what I'm looking for while enjoying The Thrill Of The Hunt. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and when COVID threw them a curve-ball they rose to the challenge on an exemplary manner.
So, even I, who has zero knowledge in the topic, wanted to spend tons of time and buy anything and everything! It's a great store, you can find everything with multiple options! My SO tells me that some of the fabrics are more expensive than they need to be but there are cheaper alternatives as well!
Fantastic place to buy fabric and sewing material(s). It's also one of the few times you can realistically say you don't need to shop online because they likely already have it in store. The location is massive and has pretty much anything you would need. The staff is also helpful and will direct you to whatever it is that you need. Hours are a bit wonky compared to other stores.
Really nice staff and beautiful arts and crafts for reasonable prices
The best in Vancouver for sewing supplies, fabrics, buttons and notions. Also a bustling Halloween outlet in the fall season with tons of costumes and props.
Great place for fabric and notions. Very impressed with how rapidly they built up online orders. Pick up has been incredibly smooth every time. Glad to see they are now mailing out.
I purchased some fabric for my next DIY project and the process to buy online was made really easy. I waited about 5 business days for my curbside order to be ready. The process from start to finish was great
LOVE shopping here!! Everything you need for sewing, plus always an adventure discovering something unexpected. I could spend the whole day because it's 2 huge floors.
It's an entire garment district in one store. Dressew is iconic.
Gorgeous store. I am like a girl in a candy store. The staff are amazing in helping me out. Its my favorite store in Vancouver. I made my sparkly lace top for summer.
I am pretty sure I have been shopping here since before I was born. Back in the day it wasn't such a cool place to shop. Now it is really on trend with Vancouver's creative do it yourself artsy people. You never know what you will do cover. This fact hasn't changed since I started purposely coming here to buy my sewing needs. Last time I was there they had brand new super cheap overalls. I regret not buying one for painting in my studio. Oh well, next time I'm in Vancouver I am stopping by.
Really the only fabric shop in downtown Vancouver. Not open Sundays. They do have at least one of most things, and often lots! Bargains can be found. Pretty light on their pattern offerings, though: if you need a specific pattern, maybe shop online, as it's unlikely to be available here.
good spot to get sewing stuff for cheap, including fabrics and a wide selection of other stuff too. maybe not the most stylish stuff but very complete selection. Updated to give 5 stars due to their excellent service during COVID including pickup
Love this place. It has everything sewing related you can think of at great prices. The only problem is that it isn't open late on weekdays.
Great staff a bit cold but very with it when it comes to inventory and products . with a vast amount of party masks and fabric to choose from . Great deals here if you have that project to get done or chair to recover . just ask them , ...????
I had a wonderful visit. Staffers were helpful and engaging. I can't wait to come back!!
Big store. Lots of stuff. I feel like I find a new section of the store every time I visit.
You can find a lot of items here. Either shopping for costume or fabric for your next sewing project, you will everything you need here.
Wow, more fabric than I've ever seen.
I found everything I needed. The prices are very fair but it adds up. I think the Halloween stuff should be a bit cheaper. Although it's all very nice and decent pricing.
They have everything you could ever want to inspire a life time of projects. Everything is pretty organized and easy to navigate despite it all. Their Facebook page response time is also lighting speed and very helpful.
Great place for fabric and accessories! I can always find the things I need for whatever project I am working on or dreaming up!
If you sew or do crafts you need to go here. Not a huge fan of the neighborhood but worth a trip if you sew. There are two levels of fabrics. Some patterns and yarns. And rows of zippers and buttons in every color. Also so many spools or …
Always helpful staff
Excellent prices, knowledgeable staff, and little to no wait times.
Excellent store, large product variety at good prices
Helpful staff. Lots and lots of fabrics and crafty stuff like beads and some findings. Today I picked up a small piece of scrap leather and a string of shell beads.
A wonderful supply source for all things fabric. I love the selection.
Lots of selections and helpful staff.
Anything you for sewing, they will have. Great selection of fabrics and supplies.
Dressew is a seamstresses wet dream. I don't need to say much really, because if you sew you've been here already. Insane trim selection.
Good selection of fabrics. Very nice and helpful staff. My go-to place for sewing supplies.
Dressew is a wonderful, weird place. They have a spectacular selection of zippers and trims and buttons and all sorts of things you never knew existed but now realize you can't live without. Prices are often very good, especially for notions and supplies. They also have great costumes and props.
I love this place. Unlike some other posters, I really like that the staff leave you alone. If I need help with anything, I just ask and they've always been super helpful. I've never had any issues and always found the prices to be better than anywhere else. It does get busy every October but that's to be expected
Best fabric shop in the world...every class of fabric is made available by Dressew... affordable luxury... Am So happy to find rare crepe, bouchle, borg, silk-viscose I'll be in soon to start my collection of throw fabrics. More... beads, charms, trim, tassles and Jewlers supplies... We can have it all thanks to Dressew...
Such a huge and great selection!
The selection is impressive. You can find things here that you have never heard of. Pricing is reasonable, too. I found the staff basically friendly, except for the orange-haired lady, who just muttered when I asked something. When I asked politely, "can you repeat it, please?" She looked at me that I'm from a different planet or something. Unpleasant experience. I will try to avoid her next time I go there.
I just wished they had more baby item fabric, there aren't much super soft things in the cotton pattern Dept such as any pattern knits that are popular, or much for west coast related patterns like whales. But nice general selection and some geeky stuff
Best fabric store in town, the staff are very knowledgeable and nice and large selection upstairs and down.
There's so much available, and for such good prices. The costumes are limited but the fabric is not! Downstairs especially is textile-nerd paradise.
You can find everything you’d need for sewing! Bought fabrics and thread. Pretty cheap. Helpful staff.
Great place for costumes and stuffs like that. Went there to buy my Halloween costume, and they have a LOT of accessories. But they also sell a lot of different costumes, and tissues for housing. It's a very nice place, and prices are great. Downside: they don't accept credit cards.
Best selection of fabrics and findings in Vancouver! Well organized and clearly marked.
They have literally everything. I've lost and replaced buttons a 1000 times here. ????
5 stars for the decades you’ve been open. Dressew has been around since Long McQuade music was across the street and Bonds books held the rest of the block. It’s a Vancouver classic! Please reopen soon!
Best sewing shop in the city! The extent of my sewing capabilities is mending/repairing clothes and other textiles, and the occasional fabric craft project but they always have what I need with a great selection and affordable prices to boot.
I appreciate their service they have a good variety of selection and the staff is helpful.
If you like to sew or craft or just want a Halloween costume then visit dressew; you will love it. It has so much stuff. Their button selection alone is mind blowing!
Lots of good fabrics, and other things like yarn, joinery, buttons, buckles. The prices are pretty decent so you'll definitely end up buying more than you intend to. Love how they have a huge variety for everything.
Lots of good fabrics, and other things like yarn, joinery, buttons, buckles. The prices are pretty decent so you'll definitely end up buying more than you intend to. Love how they have a huge variety for everything.
Love the store because the price of the fabric and the amount of extra stuff for finish you costume and special dress
They have everything! It's in a less desirable part of town and the store is dated but it doesn't really matter. Staff is helpful. Prices are great. Go across the street to La Taqueria for drinks and tacos after. :)
This place has everything you could ever need for your projects!
I can find absolutely everything I need here! A one stop shop for everything fabric and fabulous! 5 stars!
Did an online order with pickup in store during their anniversary sale. Process was very easy and the prices were fair even before the sale discount. I really liked that they offered a thread match option as this was tricky to do myself using just online images for reference. I was also purchasing some thread for fabrics I already owned so I was able to email them photos to match. Got an email notification when order was ready. When I arrived I was asked to provide the order number. A staff member then brought the order outside to me. Offered for me to check the thread matches and they could swap colours if needed, but they did a great job and it matched perfectly. I will definitely shop here again when I need more supplies. I didn't go inside but I would love to go in and take a look one day as they seem to have a lot of selection.
Its was very helpful staff that worked there
Dressew finally reopened! We went in for some cloth to make placemats. And found amazing fabric for cheap price. …
Top notch service. Great knowledge with the most comprehensive range of products.
I love this place! They've always been super helpful when I needed help choosing fabrics, and they have such a wide variety of both fabric and notions! Whether I've asked for help online or in store, they've always been very prompt with their answers and very helpful!
Huge selection, they have things you didn't even know you wanted or needed. So many kinds of fabric, ribbon, hardware, dyes, tools - and all more than affordable. 10/10 would recommend to any craftsman not just those who sew.
The 5 stars are not just for their selection of products but their helpful and friendly staff both upstairs and in the basement. I am 9 months pregnant and went there looking for some last minute fabric for baby projects and they were so kind and helpful. Elizabeth in particular was so amazing and she helped me with everything, even going back down to the basement when I had forgotten to pick up what I needed, as my feet were swollen and I could barely stand after more than an hour of exploring the mind boggling variety of things in the store. If you are looking to cloth diaper or make baby blankets or swaddles, ditch the expensive stores and get some fabric here and some quality scissors and you’re all set. What an amazing set of hard working employees!! Loved my experience there. Will definitely be back.
Lots of fabric to choose from.. and have all buttons and what not on bottom floor
Excellent as always great prices friendly staff always find what you are looking for and more ????????
Pretty decent prices! I have never gone downstairs until today, and boy, do they have piping and zippers and buttons in all colours and styles. One of my favourite things to do, is to just put new notions on old clothing to make them feel new again, and this is the place to go to for that. they have great buttons like the glass amber ones, and a bunch other
Worst customer service I've ever expected
Awesome products at affordable prices but I have never had a good experience with any of the sales attendants, always very grouchy most likely due to being overworked ??
Omg the variety and selection you get here. They have everything for making and sewing and crafting and costumes and God knows what. They have it all and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful if you ask nicely ???? always say please and thank you
Reliable place for huge variety of products. Generally good prices, helpful staff and convenient location. Sale section downstairs is always good, though things like thread etc are high priced.
Price is thumb up. A lot of choices. I spend hours at there.
I ordered some fabric from them after first speaking with them online to get some advice. I'm thrilled with my purchases, they came quickly, and I will definitely buy here again. Great customer service, great quality fabric.
Always find what I'm looking for very friendly and helpful staff
This place is full of hidden gems. If you have an unusual idea in mind, or you're just looking to browse, they'll Absolutely have something for you, usually at an amazing price. The only weak spot I would say is solids/basics. They have a huge selection but not as much consistency as some other greater Vancouver stores. Sometimes they'll have only 3-4 colours of cotton twill, and around 10 colours of holographic spandex or animal print minkie. The staff can let you know if what you're looking for is there, or if they're not sure they can tell you where to look! (Seriously they have so much stuff there's no way one person could remember exactly where it all is). I always find the customer service great, but I'm not one of those people who expects retail staff to be my servants. They cut the fabric, and help when they can! And the hours. Good lord the hours. It's pretty much guaranteed to be jam packed on Saturday, shoppers there will shove you out of the way in the small aisles, but it's worth it once in a while!
Great place, lots of pretty fabrics. Always nice and helpful stuff. Good bargain prices for cuts fabric downstairs. I always find everything I need and even much more.
My favourite local sewing supply store. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Their products are high quality, surprisingly. Don't let the neighbourhood fool you.
Lots of variety. Super helpful cutting staff. However, You may want to avoid this place if you have mobility issues. Narrow aisles, no elevator to lower floor where all the notions are.
Was there for the first time. Was very impressed with the place and the staff. Although they did not have a elevator, the staff took my done the stairs and back up. I will be going there from now on for my craft and yarn needs
First choice go-to place for fabrics. Great selection. Fair pricing. Accessible by public transit 15 min walk or so from skytrain stop (Waterfront or Vancouver City Centre). Organized, but not spotless for with enough customer flow things are moved from place to place by customers. One of the best selection of cords and string here in all source of thickness and colours and materials (downstairs). Not the place for higher quality buttons. Great zipper selection as well.
Had a wall full of masks. Just what I needed for a masquerade party.
This is the best deal in The lower mainland for fabrics and supplies. My wife is always happy when I bring her here. The sales ladies have a delightful hippie vibe and are very helpful!
REVIEWING FOR MY EXPERIENCE IN 2015. NOT SURE NOW THOUGH. Sewing addicts beware! If you have a fabric shopaholic problem do not enter this store! you will not be able to resist to spend ALL your money here!! and bring back truck loads of fabric because everything is s steal!! DANGER ZONE FOR SEWING ADDICTS!
The prices are unbelievable. This is the place to come if you sew, knit, or crochet.
Always a treat to shop here although I was unhappy with waiting in line to enter the store. On the other hand, thank you for adhering to the rules to keep us safe.
So much stuff in this store and some items that aren't even related to sewing and before Halloween they even carry costumes that are 'ready to wear' out the door. Weather you just want to add a little sparkle to a dress for an event (Xmas, Easter, New Year's, etc) or material because you are going to see your own....come check it out. Best supplier in town for quilting and sewing supplies, semi-precious stones for jewellery making, etc. Need a new bra strap or 'petals' to 'cover up' on a tight t-shirt or clingy dress.... Attend this store regularly because they never disappoint on selection and quality & stock always changes and Happy hunting !
What doesn't Dressew have?! Love this place. Great prices, helpful and friendly owner + staff. Can't wait to get inside again!
Can’t be beat. Lots of fabric choices and helpful staff.
A Vancouver landmark cloth and sewing supply store. Go when you have some time as you will want to take in the atmosphere, and they close unusually early. If I could, I would give it 3.5 stars because it has gone somewhat downhill lately: less choice in cloth, more random, junky goods for sale on the ground floor. Still a lot of buttons, thread and notions in the basement. At one point they had a big shipment of high quality knitting yarn, but it looks like that will not be returning.
Good prices for fabrics and notions. They buy end lots of fabric and sewing notions. For example a Dritz sewing machine cleaning kit was $0.49 including sewing machine oil and seeing machine needles. They have a clearance area where fabric is under 5 dollars a metre. Jan 2020 sale is clearance fabric 50% off
Very wide choice of products. Good prices. Polite staff.
This store has anything you could want that is sewing or craft related. From a purse sized sewing kit for less than $1 to any size or color of button you could want. From a huge variety of fabrics to old fashioned hooks and eyes that your granny would recognize. A visit the downstairs area where all the treasures are is a must.
Love, love, love this place. So much fabric, yarns, buttons and crafting material. It would be easy to spend 2 or 3 hours just browsing. Prices are amazing. If you sew, knit, or crochet this is the place to come. The people that work here are very knowledgeable and know exactly where everything is. Very impressive!!
A total sewing store I find all the things I need and more.
So many choices ???? Helpful assistants
Everyone was super friendly and helpful, but not in that get-in-your-face way some places are. It was a really nice experience, and I always love going there.
Products are okày but some workers are not kind and rude. When I gave new lace tape to worker for cutting to purchase. She looked at me and my tote bag with doubt and said to me " don't cut products and put it in your bag". I explained that I didn’t cut anything I bought it 2 days ago at this store and made a sample, I need more lace and it's just my sample bag. When she gave me back with new products and receipt, kept looking at me and said again "don't put anything in your bag" I understand that your company should protect it but it was too much to treat me as a theft even though, I explained it before. That is unfair and make me angry, bad. I showed the old receipt myself . You should think your client's feeling, fairness. It was less than 1 dollar products!!!. Please rethink your company's services and others (I have my own shop, so I go there often. I have been a client for over 8 years)
Great Service. Tons of fabrics....I recommend the basement section. Very affordable with high quality.
Amazing place for Halloween
One of the best and cheapest places to get your Fabrics. If really like to browse the sale section they have a huge selection in the basement. The Notions are also quite inexpensive and they have a wide variety of everything
Great selection of everything you need really! And wonderful staff.
Wonderful supply. Not too busy, and everyone was polite and wearing masks. Great selections in even clearance on the bottom floor (where notions are).
Great variety of fabrics and sewing tools To see.
I could spend hours here. So much to see and great deals to take advantage of.????????
So much stuff! Wish there was a better yarn selection, but love the selection of fabric and discount fabric. Also very impressive selection of notions at a good range of prices.
There is an amazing selections with clothing texture and any kind of sewing, knitting etc fabrics. Good price like as wholesale. most of staff ask me have cash before they cut any fabric. But same in other reviews, staff customer service is still no good. Especially the old woman has green high-lighting with blond hair. She was grumpy in cashier and through my change to me. I saw she always smile to Caucasian and grumpy at Asian and any others. I still keep coming here. All staff have smiling and they all try their best service. Excluding green high-lighting cashier woman. Now I love this place and staff. Hopefully they can keep their service quality as well as today.
I haven't been here in years and it's still full of wonderful surprises! Gorgeous fabrics, ribbons, trim, zippers, buttons, yarns, etc all in a huge variety of colors, sizes, textures and designs. They even have sewing patterns! Its nice to know people are still making their own clothes! There are the usual accessories like scissors, measuring tapes, pins and needles. And unusual things like handles for the bag or tote you might be making/fixing, belts and buckles, feathers and leathers, flower decorations, beads and costumes (Yes! There were some Halloween leftovers and now Christmas outfits). Its a fun place to explore even if you don't sew or knit.
With 2 levels jam packed full of materials & other sewing items, it can be overwhelming trying to find what you need, but the staff are friendly & knowledgeable about their stock & sewing. It feels like this place has all the sewing supplies you need. There are also costumes, masks & wigs here. I just wished they were open on Sundays or opened past 5pm on the other days.
I was specifically looking for buttons, and there was a lot of choice. Thank you!
This store would be amazing if it wasn't for the horrible customer service.
A sewer's heaven. Prices are amazing.
Everything you could need for sewing and more. They have countless buttons for knitting projects and everyone is really helpful.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Fairly cheap. Great place to find whatever you need for your sewing project or even craft project! Personally, I used to go there a lot to get different colour ribbons to use as shoe laces.
Great always find what I need for various projects there. Good staff and selection.
Great fabric store, loads of selection and I always find what I need. It's really big so can be a little hard to know where everything is but the employees will point you in the right direction! The only bad thing is the prices seem a tad high for some fabrics ($18.99 p/m for jersey prints?). I'd still rather pay more for fabric so I can make my own dresses vs supporting the fast fashion industry.
Sooooo much fabric! Lots in the way of sewing notions you can't find just anywhere! There is also costumes, tiaras, and Canadian souvenirs. Fur, leather, feathers, beads, cording (got different kinds I used for macrame).

Huge selection of fabrics and notions. Friendly and helpful staff.
Absolutely incredible store. 2 floors of fabrics, trim, notions, buttons, lace, ribbons, beads... one of my favourite shops in the world, without question.
