Huge selection. All items are in very good condition. Reasonable prices. The only problem is that the store is packed so full that it is difficult to move through the aisles. You have trouble passing others in the aisles. Don't go if you get claustrophobic.

Guy's section keeps getting smaller and smaller every time I visit, and the little they have is expensive for second hand! I've seen some pretty ugly bad condition shoes for like 50 bucks or so, it used to be cheaper, can't say I'd recommend it anymore.

By far the best of the locations here in Winnipeg. The store is big and clean and well organized. The firting rooms are nice and clean. The staff there are always nice and they keep up their IG really well! They even have a rack of dresses in the winter for those who are looking for some fresh looks for that trio somewhere warm! Prices for the clothes seemed reasonable, but free wouldn't get me to come back. EDIT: After going back and forth with the owner, I appreciate the effort she made to show she cares genuinely about her customers despite her employees actions. I amended my review accordingly to increase my rating based off her professionalism, and courteousness.

It's an alright experience when you're a shopper, they claim to have designer items at a discount price but still have brands from Sirens and American Eagle, nothing really "wow" but you can occasionally find a good piece. I had high expectations, the database they do their buying really needs an update.

If you go there to buy there stuff, it is great. They have lots of nice stuff and the prices aren't too bad depending what it is. If you go to 'sell' stuff there, I find they are extremely picky and I am always surprised at how little they take and how much money you get back.

Update: Tried bringing clothing in. HA! a joke. Dont bother. I brought in current Bench. Sweaters, american eagle, le chateau, aeorpostal...all stuff that I literally walked around the mall afterwards and saw 15 year old kids wearing the same stuff...rejected based on style...then got told as i was purchasing a Melanie Lynn business skirt i sifted for an hour and a half to find...and a few tops and one pair of pants I plan to wear in a business setting...that what i brought in, most was too "business like"...what? I brought in short shorts and hoodies, summer tanks, tees, some dresses I bought online and then regretted buying because they were way too short for me...and definitely meant for an 18 year old...and a pair of silver jeans that dont quite fit me right and some shoes...ok, so you struggle to sell skinny heel shoes...sure, i get that...but the rest? From what I saw, I struggled to find a dress in my size that wasn't so short I was embarassed to have it on in the changeroom, let alone wear it in public. I'm only 26... I also noticed the lulu lemon items were overpriced for how used they were. I'll spend the extra 15$ and get it brand new or on sale from lulu lemon themselves if I want it that badly. That being said...some of the footwear is well priced and if you're willing to sift through the dresses long enough, you'll eventually find something that covers your a$$. Lol. I went in there hoping to find clothing that was not just predominantly aimed at 18 year old girls who are going to the bar every weekend, but aimed at the "20 somethings" that want to look professional from time to time in their occupation. Trendy doesn't always have to mean tiny skirts and transparent dresses. If there was some consideration for a section of items that are aimed at those 20 somethings that want to look on point and...scandalous as it may sound...a tad more professional! *le gasp!* I'd definitely give a higher rating. For now, it's kind of just meh at best.

Everyone that works there is awesome and so sweet. I come almost every week now to sell and shop as well and every single time they're so nice! Ok, I have a bit of a mixed review here and I hope I don't come off as rude or anything, but I'm confused about some things regarding this store. I've gone twice to sell clothes and end up looking around while waiting for the staff to go through my stuff. From what I can tell, the prices are good but some of the items (especially the shoes) definitely show clear signs of wear/fading/pilling, which I have been told are reasons they will turn things down, so I don't know how those things end up on the shelves but whatever. Secondly, they say they buy trendy items that appeal to teens/young adults that have been sold in stores within the last 12-18 months, yet they have bought items from me that I purchased brand new 3+ years ago. ???? My first selling experience was good - I got about $40 for a handful of items and I felt that was fair, especially considering, like I mentioned, a few of them were purchased brand new well over 18 months prior. Second experience however, not as good. I was offered only $10 for a brand new Bath & Body works lotion, mint condition 'leather' jacket from Garage (purchased within 18 months for sure), a casual summer dress that was never worn (purchased about 9 months prior) and a pair of brand new American Eagle shorts that were purchased less than a month prior. Because of all this, it seems like their system is a little inconsistent. Again, I'm not trying to complain or sound rude but it seems evident that there are some inconsistencies in this stores standards and policy. On a positive note, the store is well organized, most of the staff I have dealt with were quite friendly and like I said, you can definitely find some great deals here if you are a buyer.

Even though the website states what they take & what brands, it must be within a year of purchase & even then they're still picky. Suggested my girlfriend bring her clothes here, she has all brand name stuff laying around she doesn't wear like TNA/Aritizia, Lulu Lemon, pink, you get the idea. We filled up a whole storage bin and brought it to the St James location. From an entire bin of clothes they offered her ONLY $3 for one pair of pants from Ardenes that was probably the cheapest thing we brought in the bin. There was probably $500 worth of hoodies and tights she has and they were folded nicely when dropped off and you could tell they didn't even go through half of the stuff because when we picked it up it was still folded neatly near the bottom. Wouldn't waste my time bringing clothes here or shopping here. When you walk in the store they had clothes that still had animal hair on them but somehow you're telling me that junk is nicer than top name brands. Keep your 3 bucks sell it on Kijiji instead.

If I could rate zero stars I would. Really enjoyed shopping at Plato's until my grandparents called me tonight to tell me about how crappy their experience was tonight. My grandma spent most of the week going through all of the clothes of a close family friend who had passed recently, washing, ironing, folding as neatly as possible and brought 13 bags in today, and don't get me wrong 13 bags is a lot but all the clothing was high end clothing seeing how it belonged to a lawyer. They took 3 items only out of 13 bags and did not go through a couple of bags and gave back the bags in the worst condition just thrown back into the bags like it was trash. They also had the audacity to tell my grandma that some of the clothes were dirty/stained etc. The staff is very immature, and based on some of the replies I have seen from the owner on some of these reviews so is this owner. Would not recommend this place to anyone anymore. Don't waste your time here.

Weird organization, the sale stuff is mixed in with regular priced items. It is pricier but you can watch out, they often have 70-90% off sales which is a good deal. I do get a stressed vibe from there being so many clothes in a small space. When they buy clothes they pay a lot for high end name brands but not so much for other brands. They are very picky so it isn't always worth it.

Bigger than the one in Transcona. I walked in on a busy-ish day (and being in customer service industry myself) I automatically said hi to the two employees talking to each other at the counter that looked at me when I came in. One gave me the stink eye (maybe it's just her face) and the other just smiled. Cloths were organized ok. Shoes were organized better than Transcona. Just make sure you check over anything you're looking at for rips or lost buttons, etc. And always test zippers.

As far as used clothing go they have lots of used women's clothes but the men's clothes is low quality and there's not very much of it available at all. I also noticed that the prices are very high you could get a better deal during a sale at any store even buying brand new so not really a good deal for men's clothes.

Don't waste your time. Used their program where they go through your repurposed/2nd chance clothing in exchange for $$$. A lot of items were new and never used and they wouldn't take them. Due to being "out of season" Not what they're looking for They only care about how new, in season and type of brand they are Outside of the exchange program the store doesnt have much selection and DOES NOT cater to different styles, has a very specific style regarding demographic they bring in (people who wear Calvin Klein, Nike, Holister etc) As stated before don't waste your time or money getting down there. Reluctantly took my 13 year-old daughter for a quick look-see...and left an hour later with an awesome Lacoste polo and sweater! As for my kid, she got 31 bucks cash for some old clothes. She then spent twice as much on ‘new’ stuff she was giddy to find (including a fashion top from a US-only brand). Yes, the place is totally jammed. Visiting on a Saturday is like running with the bulls in Pamplona. But it’s such a kick picking through crowded racks and suddenly discovering some amazing find. Great place with friendly helpful staff. And best of all: it’s recycling of the best kind.

Great store for discounted trendy clothes. My success rate is very hit or miss but I have found many gems here that people give lots of compliments. However, if you're looking for them to being your lightly worn clothes, have low expectations. They get a ton of clothes every week and can't take the volume, especially if the clothes are more unique items that are difficult to sell. Would be great if they had more space. A great concept, but done horribly. If your coming to buy, just go to a thrift store, as you will find all of the same brands at a lower price. If you're coming to sell, know that they only buy your worst clothes lol. I brought about a million assorted pieces of clothing, including an almost brand new Nike Windbreaker that I bought in February, and they didn't even quote me, whereas they were interested in a wornout, ugly Jets hoodie. Basically it's a complete crapshoot, as if you go to shop, you'll quickly discover that they're not interested in quality brands, as the majority of items for sale are Old Navy, George (Wal-Mart) and Joe (Superstore). Just go to a thrift store, as they have far more selection, better brands, and the funds go to a good cause.

A brand new Buffalo Winter Parka also many Hollister and Le Chateau items, There was a new Element down vest as well. Some new looking skinny jeans 3 pairs. A DC parka as well.A DC sweater worn once. Many high quality items. I was told my clothes had a strange odor maybe smoke she said. My stuff was all freshly washed and taken directly there and I don't smoke. If it smelt like smoke why did they keep going through it. Nothing was folded properly when they gave me my clothes back.There is also a shirt missing.Le Chateau striped shirt black and white. I will never even walk in that door again. There are 17 year olds running the place, I can't believe how I was treated and how insulting. Like I said I don't smoke.

If it was possible to give no stars I would, these people are disgusting and racist. I tried to sell some clothing here, unfortunately this fat cow told me they don’t buy clothes from people like me. She began to nervously laugh at my face realizing what she had said to me, I asked her why, and who does she think she is to say this to me. She went on about how they don’t buy crop tops, excuse me!?!? Half of your wardrobe is crop tops, and she also said how a pair of jeans were ripped and could not have been sold. I told her that’s the style of the jeans, and they looked like that when I had bought them. I asked for a manger, apparently she was unavailable, and she also refused to give me her name nor the managers info. “It’s my right to protect my name” no, you don’t have the right to be racist to me. And you don’t have the right to refuse my clothing because of my skin colour.

I had a young girl take a look at them,and tell me no ,to ALL of them. I was SHOCKED. I couldn’t believe it, when asked why,she tells me,they only take today’s style clothes and updated. REALLY ??? None of them were old at all. I tried it one other time, to hear the same thing. Are the girls only wanting to buy what they like , I mean,I’m sure it’s not only girls in their twenties that shop there.

One of my favorite places to visit in the city! The staff are always super friendly and process buys as quick as they can, Plato's also offers a ton of sales and coupons which increase the savings even more which seems impossible sometimes! Definitely recommend a visit, half my wardrobe is from here it seems.

I'll give them the store was clean and organized but out of 40 items they only took 17 of them passed on a lot trends and stuff less than a year old new with tags such as (dynamite) and (garage), looks like they did not even look at half the things due them still being perfectly folded as I left them If I were you sell on poshmark or Kijiji

They have good options for clothing. If you try you can find some good clothing finds at some reasonable prices for used clothing. It may not be that big of places and they could use more male clothing options, you can get some quality stuff there. The staff working there are nice and helpful. They also provide a change room there, if you ever wanted to try something on.

They accused me of stealing the new with tag items I had brought in to sell, asking where I got them etc. I haven’t stolen anything in my life so was very offended. Haven’t been back since. I’ll go to the other location but no more to this one!

My daughter and I went there to sell a pair of new jeans that my daughter didn't wear also a pair that she bought from there that didn't fit her plus a couple of tops. They only picked the new pair of jeans gave 5 dollars and some cents which was bought from garage clothing for 30 dollars this year 2020. I'm curious as to where you get your prices from it's a rip off no receipt or anything not fair pricing at all to buy them off customers I'm reading some if the comments from the owner and doesn't sound right at all the jeans and tops we brought to sell were more for teens not for 25+ were in good condition again one was from there she bought that didn't fit her

I really love ❤️ the atmosphere. I walk in, get greeted with the warmest smiles and salutations. I used to work for retail and these guys and gals are adherent to the philosophy of excellence in both customer services and product knowledge, basically speaking, they perform their tasks very very well and that they follow my simple philosophy and strategy of a TRUE retailer. Unlike some big box stores that try to make a commission by pushing the products to the customers, Plato’s Closet staff just kindly asks for your bag(s) to be left behind their counter (which is great cuz it saves my back) and I have the time of my life going through the awesome selection of great deals and great merchandise and the staff lets me be. Keely and all the whole team are my favourite people because they know who I am and as such greet me and make me feel very happy and satisfied as not just a customer but as a complete person. I went there with a big bag of really nice brand name clothes that were new(aritzia, garage, etc) clothes were all folded neatly and very nice and I had shoes at the bottom. When they gave it back to be 15 minutes later they took a few things off the top and didn’t even look at rest of the stuff. My brand new pair of Nike runners where still sitting at the bottom and everything was folded just as I had done it. As well as we watched them go through my bag and they didn’t look at most of it. Not only that but I wasn’t aloud to use the bathroom even thou I wa s feeling extremely ill and asked multiple time so I had to actually leave the store and drive somewhere else. The workers were very inconsiderate and rude.

I have driven past this place for years and I wish I had found this place a while ago! So much used clothing in there for a great price. The stuff looks barely used, if they were even used. I will definately go there in the near future. It's worth the stop.

it always depends who’s looking at your items i went last night at around 8 they only took 2 things i went back this morning and they took 4 the prices they pay aren’t great but better than nothing if u were just gonna donate them ????????‍♀️
