Love their Calamari and French fries a lot.
Best place in town for a meal. Very affordable and their beer choices are good. A 3 course meal is roughly 35$ / person (tip included). Make sure to head there before 7pm since it gets crowded quite fast. Wait time can be an issue but totally worth it.
The staff was friendly and the deck area was pleasant and clean. I had the fish burger and fries, which I rate as okay.
The Knot Pub is one of only two places I ate at in Lunenburg and was completely happy. I’ve eaten there three times and not only is the food good , but the ambience is greatly relaxing after a long walk downtown. They serve an excellent …
We were blown away by the tremendous value of this restaurant. We ordered our food to go - so no comment on the service - though it was very busy and the patrons looked happy. The Knot Burger was fantastic and my wife's Salmon Burger with garden salad was also great. Honestly surprised at how inexpensive it was for the locale. Highly recommend!
Okay...So after a long lockdown due to corona virus, we decided to spend a few hours on Labour Day Monday(a beautiful sunny afternoon) at one of our favourite pubs - The Knot - in Lunenburg. And we heard they built a beautiful new covered deck! One would expect during COVID that businesses would be eager to try and recover lost business and investment but when we arrived there we were shocked to find the place was closed for the holiday. We then went to Mahone Bay and had a great visit and sat on a nice warm patio - served by uni students who had no problem working on Labour Day. Obviously the Knot doesn't need business to pay for their COVID losses and new patio. Very disappointed! Normally a string four stars but after this...
Cozy spot. Plenty of beer and great food for any taste.
Beer is good, food is crazy, staffs are really kind. Near the entrance of Lunenburg.
Tired of getting riped off with tourists traps? Make a stop here and enjoy good food at reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and service is good. Great local beer and food. Glad we skipped the town traps and went here for diner
Great classic pub fare. Excellent value for cost. Lots of food. Quaint atmosphere. Our wait time quoted was 45 minutes. Got in in under 25 which was nice. Place was busy but service was good. Decent local beer selection and close enough to the downtown core of Lunenburg to walk. Looks like a nice patio is being added!
Classic, old fashioned pub interior atmosphere, warm, social feel, excellent servers. The food is good and not too expensive, there some specifically maritime options, and classic pub fare done well. A friend said it had a similar feel to pubs in Ireland.
I was staying at the Lunenburg Inn and Donna, the lady that runs the inn, recommended that we visit the Knot Pub for dinner. Judging by how busy it was the night before we decided to check it out and we were definitely glad that we did. The Knot Pub is just your traditional local pub that focuses on serving reasonably priced and quality food without any pretentiousness. We both ordered a burger and our dishes were both delicious and came out quickly even though it was quite busy inside. Everything was well put together, properly cooked, and no complaints from either my girlfriend or I with the taste or quality of the burgers. We didn't get any beers as we aren't into drinking at all but I did notice that they have quite a large selection of different beers to choose from if that's what you're into. A little dark inside but plenty of indoor seating and I really liked the comfortable and welcoming vibe with the large bar right in the center of the eating area. Prices were quite reasonable and for two burgers it came to something like $24 which is a great price for two people. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking out the Knot Pub if you're looking for some no frills food that's delicious and very reasonably priced.
Good food. Great service & friendly staff. Will be back again!
Oh. My. Goodness. Not over priced, amazing pub food that you expect for being close to the water. The lobster roll was so yummy, the beer crisp and cold, and the staff super friendly.
Probably the best food in Lunenburg! Easily the best for the price.
I wish I could give this place more stars, it really deserves it. We stopped here for a quick lunch and got fish and chips. Each one of our dishes was perfect. The fish was nice and flakey but crispy. The fries were amazing. I’m still dreaming about this meal and wish we were close so we could visit often. The staff here is also so friendly which just made our time here that much more special. It’s definitely a must stop!
The ceiling above our booth had a thick layer of dust that could've easily been clean. The booth seats smelled and looked like they have never been cleaned. The fish cakes were terrible, the burger was boring and the fries were bland and the beer on tap was watery. The service however was good but I would never come back.
Food was great! Beer was cold! Service was....good. would have been 5 stars but the waitress we had wasn't the friendliest I've ever encountered. Never asked if I wanted another beer, never checked to see how everything was, and overall left us with the impression she just wanted us to leave.....
What a great spot! We ate there on the long weekend.. when we first got there at supper time it was packed. We figured that meant it was worth the wait and waited about 40 minutes for a table. Our server (Sarah I believe was her name) was …
Amazing place! Service is phenomenal. There peanut butter pie is to die for! Got a cooler and went back the next day to bring some home to New Brunswick.
Smelled like urine, table was sticky, food wasn't great. The server was nice and helpful but atmosphere, cleanliness and food offering was terrible.
Fish was amazing and fresh. Fries were average. Decent portions. Fast & friendly take out service. We will definitely be going back!
The Knot in Lunenburg, N.S. is always excellent. A lovely server and the new cook did an absolute, great job. Everything was delicious and perfect...keep up the good work.
Great cozy place with the best food in the area. The best fish chowder! Wonderful bar staff and servers.
Best meals around authentic pub great food ... gotta gotta try the mussel soup and ceasar salad!
Love the food! Great Greek and Caesar salads, wonderful seafood. Potato Skins are so yummy... sadly no reservations, so sometimes (usually) you have to wait about 20 minutes for a table, especially on weekend nights, but the food and friendly service are well worth the wait.
Amazing hearty heavy food- all of it is delicious! Generous portion sizes for what you pay. Been coming here for yeeeears, never disappointed. ????
Great atmosphere, food is consistent, and a decent selection on tap. One of my go to spots when I am in Lunenburg.
Amazing food and wonderful service. This pub is doing it right. We were regulars and we lived in Chester. Highly recommend.
Hands down the favourite place in town. Before this year, open 364 days a year, fantastic vibe, and great pub food and beers. Pan fried haddock, the salads (all of them) and the pub club are perennial faves. 10/10 would recommend.
Love this place. Delish french onion soup, ceasar is great, love their house dressing. Nice and garlicky. Pastrami sandwich is great. Fish pieces are huge too. Ladies are friendly.
Wish I could have gone tried 3 times different days unfortunately they do not take reservations.
Just a really good, well-run pub — with great food.
Great atmosphere. Even better food. Staff was friendly. Great place to eat and drink.
Extemely busy pub. May find it difficult to get a table at peak times. The car park was a bit rough located round the back where many pot holes were about so be careful of this. Food was excellent and staff were friendly.
Just keeps improving over the years. Wish they had a better selection of local craft ales on tap but The Knot always feels like a homecoming.
Excellent pub. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food.
Great food good prices very interesting decor. I recommend trying the fish and chips it was awesome.
This place was a lot of fun. The food was great. The best part was the peanut butter pie. WOW
Cozy little pub.Good food, service always excellent! Try the nachos!
I was in Lunenburg with a friend a few weeks ago and she recommend The Knot Pub. They had some great specials this cold Saturday afternoon, but I decided to go an adventure with their spicy fish tacos. I was not disappointed! The fish was well battered and flaky. The rest of the ingredients were fresh and well presented. Price was fair, as well. I'll definitely stop back in on my next visit and would recommend to a friend.
Excellent food and very helpful staff. Well worth a visit.
Okay. Scallops were small and bacon over cooked. We did like the atmosphere.
Friendly service! Enjoyed my orders: small seafood soup (not so small!) with butter toasts, fish and chips (exchange the fries to sweet potato fries without extra charge)❤️???? The fried cod is so fresh, soft and yummy! It’s greasy and crispy, exactly what fish & chips should be! ???? The salmon burger was amazing and inexpensive!! The ginger soda drink (non alcoholic) was amazing also! I didn’t like the apple crisp; no buttery flavour nor crispy; it was hot though. Clean and nice ambiance!
Wonderful eatery and bar , great food , very clean and beautiful friendly staff , and without a doubt , I will be going back :) !!!
Very nice place to eat dinner, we came after our lunenburg tour, guinness beer was very fresh and fish and chips was very delicious.
It has a slight, “dark, cabin in the woods that’s in a disney movie” kind of feel. Which is not a bad thing! Food was delicious! Staff was nice, and good service for a very busy Saturday night. Best French onion soup I’ve had at any restaurant so far! Lobster fettuccini and the lobster roll were delicious as well!
Oh, boy. Where to begin? Well, they have Erdinger, so that basically makes them a step ahead of every other bar and Nova Scotia. The staff is fantastic and handled this very well despite the fact we were very, very talkative and annoying.
Nice decor, good service, decent food.
Cosy and comfortable, even more so than it looks in pictures. Good Tuesday dinner crowd, effectively full. There is parking and an entrance around back but it can be a little muddy and messy if the weather is bad. An interesting layout with lots of seating options. Some nice accent lighting but still too dark for me on a Tuesday at 5. Easy listening rock playing softly. I ordered a one piece fish and chips. The fish was better than the fries. I did not fancy the tartar sauce and enjoyed the fist without it. I ordered the cheddar cheese chili. The chili was tasty and relatively mild. Lots of cheddar, maybe too much for me. I enjoyed the cut up tomato, the chunks of hamburger were interesting. I prefer a more crumbly meat in my chili. A nice watering hole with tasty treats. I look to forward to my next visit.
No debit but that is temporary it's very rustic on the inside and food is very good would go again
Food was excellent & served quickly given how busy it was. Highly recommend trying the Pub Club & sweet potato fries.
The Knot has a special kind of buzz that not many places have. The fried haddock and Caesar salad cannot be beat.
One of my favorite cozy places in Nova Scotia. Haddock with Greek Salad was very good.
Excellent food, fresh and hot. Love the atmosphere but be warned, supper time can be a wait to get a seat! It's no wonder. Friendly and efficient staff, cozy atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Delicious food friendly staff. Had to wait a bit for the food, and it was worth it.
Basic pub fare. Presentation on plate has gone downhill a bit, fried foods not drained well, leaving large amount of grease on plate (calamari) Went in at 3:30 for a leisurely early supper and conversation, waitress kept pestering to order even though we told her we were just taking our time. Felt rushed, place wasn't packed or busy at that time. Not sure what the issue was. The veteran staff there are top notch, newer ones should watch & learn.
The food was good but the hostess was a bit rude. We walked into the restaurant and it took the hostess 2-3 minutes to acknowledge us. While talking to us, she turned to speak with a server. We felt ignored and seems like our business is not a priority.
Ment to tap 3rd star neat pup fish and chips were good. service was lacking There around 2 not many people just slow and staff not pleasno
Staff was friendly and the food was good. Good beer selection. The pub is built in such a charming way. It feels like you are in a story
Food was wonderful. Friendly, polite service and timely. Cozy atmosphere.
I mean it's a nice local pub don't get me wrong but , when you call a restaurant asking to reserve a seat and they say no it's not busy here you'll have no problem finding a seat , we figured it was pretty died , we drive 20 mins out there to find out that within the 30 mins it took us to get ready and drive there, the restaurant magically filled up with people and they sayed when we walked in ..... "Your welcome to sit at the bar and eat your food " I said that the reason we called to make a reservation and your waitress insisted it was slow , so the staff are terrible at their job and the fact they want us to eat our food at he bar on bar stools and we aren't even drinking just wanted food and a table to eat at that's why we called but nope they didn't understand how that worked so we left and went to Mike's pitstop down the road they were quick and friendly and had lots of room
Love the food, atmosphere and great staff
Excellent place! Nice pub vibe and service was very good. Food was reasonably priced and quality was very good. Fish tacos were awesome and even though they didn’t have a kids menu they were very accommodating on splitting a main meal on two plates. A little thing but was appreciated. Note for parents with kids under 19 with backwards NS liquor laws you need to be out of there by 9. I saw the server turn away two groups of a total of about 10 people because of this. NS needs to get act together!
Very nice local pub. Went during the off-season, was nice to see it so busy with local folks!
This is always a great place to eat! The aroma that teases you as you enter is great part of the visit. Food is cooked and made as ordered, not premise, or precooked! Menu is an excellent list of tasty and local flavors. The Back Parking Lot leaves a lot to be desired. Deep holes waiting for the driving novices. Serious attention needed!
Sorry folks but this is one eatery (Pub and restaurant) I will not be going back to eat at again. To start, the table we were eating at, was sticky and had large pieces of food on the seat. A bit disgusting as I chased flies away the whole time I was waiting for my meal. After ordering my meal which clearly stated I had a choice between fries or a salad, was told by the waitress that "fries didn't come with the meal I ordered". As she quickly scurried away. When I asked a second waitress, she said "the new menu's was changed and on the new menu, the particular meal I ordered doesn't come with fries or a salad". I explained to her that the menu I had showed that it did. She left, came back and apologies, and said I was given the wrong menu and because of their mistake, they would bring me an order of fries. The food itself was less appetizing and very tasteless. Plain to put it mildly, and definitely not a restaurant that I will return to in the distant future, as both experience and meal was very displeasing.
Caesar Salad was amazing! Staff were friendly but very lax about checking for vaccine passport. Seated a whole table of americans and didn't ask any of them for proof of vaccine. Good food but might be the safest place to eat in.
Excellent Service , Busy. but great atmosphere and a short walk away from the Lunenburg waterfront .
I've gone here in previous years with good service and food, unfortunately covid has changed a lot of businesses. I felt that the food quality was just not there, and their ability to enforce the covid safety rules was not good. I showed up before supper rush time, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Good pub fare, good atmosphere. Had avocado bites and fish cakes. Both were very good. Only recommendation - to acquire a booster seat with straps. I know the place isn't exactly for kids but it is family friendly and I would've been just a little more relaxed if my little was strapped in.
Reccomend for the normal foodie, good pub grub. However, at my last visit after notifying the staff of my friend's anaphylactic allergy to peanuts and seafood, the server told me that unfortunately EVERYTHING is deep fried in the SAME fryer... Kinda, yuck. After being so hungry, we were disappointed and had to pass as the only other option was a salad.
This is a family favourite of ours when visiting Lunenburg and we always enjoy the food and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. I had the fish tacos with (handcut) fries with the peels on them this time - all were extremely good. My dining partner had the garden salad, which was extremely generous and I ended up eating part of it in exchange for one of the tacos. Service was really good. The bathroom stalls are a bit tight, as you have to turn sideways to get around the door and not hit the toilet paper dispenser and toilet. Perhaps that could be changed a bit. I had a "small world" situation with another lady in the washroom - you just don't know who you're going to meet!
It was at least a 15 minute wait to get a table. Very popular local restaurant. It was my first visit. The food was delicious. They seemed understaffed, so the service was a bit slow.
I absolutely adore this restaurant! Such a great place to catch a quick meal! The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The food is fantastic! My favorite go-to is the mussels! Can't go wrong with anything in the menu tho! The staff are always so welcoming and efficient. Highly recommend to visit if you are in the area. Can't wait to visit the pub and the scenery isn't too bad either ????
Amazing potato skins..love the fish cooked to perfection..meaty ..love love love ❤️
Just moved to the area from BC and we now consider The Knot Pub as an essential part of our week! Great service, great food and awesome Pub!
After years of coming back to Lunenburg in June and looking forward to my first meal of fish cakes at The Knot, I was thoroughly disappointed. The fish cake recipe has definitely been changed! Too much potato which wasn't even mashed …
Food was fine but the service was not. Waited over an hour for food to arrive and in the meantime the server avoided my table and would not make eye contact. In the time we were waiting the server didn't ask if we wanted another drink or more water. It is clear that local residents take priority over tourists as a number of people who arrived after us, who the server obviously knew, received their food before us.
Great food, one of the best..
Excellent atmosphere good food, our waitress Olivia she was the best. Thanks from Ontario
Delicious food and great waitstaff.
Great atmosphere and variety of menu for a pub.
Amazing food and service! Had muscles, and the Roast beef sandwich both were perfect! Fries are great! Very inexpensive for the amount of food you receive! Definitely coming back in the near future!
Great food and lots of it great atmosphere waitress very friendly a definite go back to
Good restaurant to grab a bite. Lots of patio seating is available. Food was reasonably priced and tasty. We shared the two piece fish and chips and the staff split the both the fish and the fries portions in half on separate plates which we have never seen done at any other restaurants. The indoor seating can get a bit dark though and there are also slot machines available to try your luck near the washrooms.
Always liked going to the knot pub but tonight has not been the best experience. Service staff were pretty abrupt and not so happy. When I asked about the tv they would not turn it up and instead cranked the Pink Floyd tune, which would have been ok if I were in some dive bar. But I wasn’t. Sorry knot pub need to take a break from you.
Consistently good food. We come down from Halifax for the Mussel Soup and always get an order to go. Bar side is a little dark for my liking.....but great pub atmosphere.
I went to Knot Pub for dinner and to watch a live band. The Cesar salad was great and the grilled scallops were good. The band was fantastic, they were funny, full jokes and banter, they even played good tunes. A great looking young woman (I was told she was the owner) grabbed us stool sitters and got everyone up dancing. She is a fantastic dancer! It was the best time I've had in a couple of years, at least. The atmosphere was typical wood pub design and the staff were friendly and attentive. Thanks for showing me a great time guys!
Beautiful place. Kinda felt like Hogwarts from the outside. The look, ambience, food and service was perfect. I loved the calamari appetizer. Also noticed that they have pennies stuck on the ceiling at some places. Do check that out. :D
Nice vibe with locals and visitors like ourselves. Recommended food and beers.
Excellent food, although $11 for about 5 or 6 chicken wings seems a bit steep. We finished our meals and 3rd person didn't get hers until we were done. Love the decor. Highly recommend.
Good food served fast. A really cool pub ambiance and super friendly staff. Pub is cosy with lots of old wood. I would recommend it.
Fantastic food and great atmosphere, I would strongly recommend stopping by to check this place out!
Food and service was excellent. Loved the atmosphere and decor
We tried finding a table at one of the restaurants along the waterfront area and it was so busy and packed. We ended up coming to this pub, which wound up being the greatest decisions ever. Our server was amazing, ultra friendly and just …
Best fries around for real. Fish and chips just right. Lovely server. Would recommend.
Our first time visiting the Knot Pub, as we were in Lunenburg for the Christmas Craft Market. It was quite busy, but we got a small table at the bar. Service was quick and efficient. I had the Char burger with bacon and cheese with fries and my wife had the fish burger with fries. Tasty food and good portion size, lots we want to try and we'll be making repeat visits.
My wife and I were longing for fish and chips. So we were happy to find this establishment was open. We asked for, and were told that, the fish was haddock. At first we thought the tangy unfamiliar aftertaste was from the batter, but it wasn't. It came from the par-cooked mystery fish. My wife is from a fishing village and a fishing family in Northern Nova Scotia so she knows her haddock. We only finished about half of our meal and left with a a bad taste in our mouth. No, it's not a pun. We didn't complain. Complaining to a cook has never been a good idea especially if he prepares the replacement meal. The wait staff was fine. The ambiance was fine. The prices were fine. Too bad.
On a chilly rainy night my husband and I took the advice of a local shopkeeper and went to the pub for dinner. I am mostly vegetarian and health conscious but surprised my husband by ordering fish and chips, just one piece of fish to his two. It was truly the best we’ve ever had. The chips were crispy and so was the fish....both were delicious. Kiddos to the friendly staff for great service on a busy evening. Very few empty tables on a Thursday night in the off season, so it’s obviously a local favorite, which is telling. Very nice pub atmosphere.
