While I generally don’t like to leave any review less than 5 stars, I felt the need to post my experience on the chance that your expectations are similar to ours (with little time to waste). As a person who is considered an expert in her field and sales professional who on a daily basis educates and shares information with potential customers in order to sell our product and services, I felt a 3 star rating to be generous versus the lesser rating I genuinely wanted to select. Perhaps our expectations may have simply been unrealistic for this shop or we were not this store’s target demographic? As my sister-in-law (the client) had only been diagnosed with cancer less than a month ago and on the fast track to start chemo all in a matter of only weeks, we didn’t have the luxury to perform our usual full out due diligence on-line, learning all we possibly could about wigs and decided our time might be better spent going direct to an expert to learn and buy from. During our appointment at Discretely Yours, we were very direct and at multiple times over the course of the appointment shared clearly what she was looking for, including the colour, style, feel and the fact that her decision would be based on the right look and fit, not budget. (and not that this should be a factor for any client, we were also dressed in such a way that any sales associate could easily tell we weren’t tire kicking or looking to waste anyone’s time, especially our own.) As motivated buyers we expected to receive expert information and knowledge about wig options, pros and cons of human hair vs. synthetic, after care, weaves, etc. but instead were thrown curve balls every step of the way. From basic questions being dodge, such as “how do you care for a human wig” being replied to with “I’d prefer to wait until after she has decided on her wig, comes back and is in the chair”, to being flat out denied (with out explanation) the option to take a photo to send to her husband for his opinion. I can only assume this vagueness and photo ban is due to fear that we were only there to glean information (readily available on the Internet), possibly steal a look and then purchase somewhere else. As a consumer, it's good to have all necessary information prior to purchasing to take into consideration. As I watched my beautiful, stylish and brave sister-in-law softly wipe tears from her cheek (when she thought I wasn’t looking), while trying on multiple synthetic wigs each one further away from what she wanted than the last and two mediocre human hair wigs — I was feverishly looking on my phone for another place to go to immediately after and hopefully turn what was already a very difficult day around into a more positive experience. In other words, we weren’t being heard. In summary, if you are looking for a basic off-the-rack ‘retail’ wig shopping experience with very little information required on your part or need to take a photo of yourself in the wig, then this genuinely could be the right place for you. The shop itself was very lovely aesthetically with several synthetic wigs on display (a few human hair), located in a nice boutique style mall. However, if you are in search of a NO FEE consultation, customized experience, with private salon rooms, the ability to take many photos (even facetime), free printed care brochures on wigs, hair and scalp care, beverages and all with your own personally assigned hair stylist to take you through it from beginning to end WITHOUT paying a nickel more for all this, be sure to click on my name at the top of this review to see where we ending up going and turning a discouraging experience into an amazing one.

One of the best experience we have with the owner Jane. We were looking for a wig for my mother. Called Jane at 3.00pm today asking for an appointment. She just not only wait for us but also spend more than an hour after her regular hours. Her knowledge and passion for what she does is exceptional. buyer beware, if a wig store states no returns or refunds, they arent likely to stand behind the quality of their products. if you do not know much about wigs bring someone with you who does, and make sure you get the quality you want. a very expensive mistake otherwise.

This was an absolutely wonderful experience! I left a message on Sunday. Jane called me back on Monday and we had an appointment for Wednesday morning. My mom had cancer 3 years ago, and although she did not lose her hair, she is afraid to perm it after 50 years. Her hair is extremely, fine and poker straight. She decided on a wig to make her feel good when going out. Thank you Jane for going above and beyond to recognize what kind of wig my 80 year old mom wanted and needed. Your 3 recommendations were great! You listened to what my mother said she wanted, but also had great information to share from your experience, in order to help her decide on the perfect wig in less than an hour. My mom is not always easy to please, but she respected your knowledge and ideas. Your patience and calm demeanor went along way to keep my mom at ease and relaxed. My daughter and I were also very grateful that you made appropriate Covid accommodations, so that we could both be part of the process. My mom wore the wig for the rest of the day and loved it! Not one complaint! Trust me, that's a miracle. :)

Went out of our way to arrive at the store during open hours. The store was closed and a sign said you needed to make an appointment, so we called and no one picked up... we were fairly positive we could see someone in the office. Quite disappointing and won't be going back.

I have been to this wig shop twice now and both times was extremely disappointed with the service I received. The first time in the store I went with my mom, I felt the owner to be extremely pushy in making a sale when we were clear from the moment we entered the store that we just wanted to take a look and see what she had to offer but were not currently interested in purchasing anything. Our second experience my mom had just completed her first round of chemo and was in the middle of losing her hair. The owner was extremely insensitive to my mom's situation and clearly only cares about making a sale that day. She asked my mom if she already had a wig and my mom with excitement and enthusiasm (from having such an amazing experience with the place she purchased her wig from) replied yes and explained how amazing she felt in the wig that it made her want to purchase another, which is what led us in to our local wig shop to possibly get another she felt good in. The owner's response to this was appalling. Instead of being happy and excited for my mom finding a wig that made her feel good, and taking this opportunity to find another wig from this shop to make her feel just as good, the owner went on bashing the place my mom bought her previous wig from without nay knowledge of the shop we got it from but only knowing it was possibly a bit of competition. The entire time we were in the store from then on she continuously brought up the other shop trying to get dirt on it and information from us to further put the business down. It was the most disgusting experience I have ever had. She tried to tarnish and ruin an amazing experience my mom had in a very difficult journey, all because she was jealous my mom's first purchase wasn't made with her. Just some words of advice. If you want business be genuine and kind, not spiteful and jealous. We will never return to this store and highly recommend anyone else having to go through the same situation my mom is, to find another wig shop. We highly recommend the one my mom went to, they were so sympathetic to her journey, had tons of knowledge about what to expext in the weeks to come with her chemo, made her feel special and beautiful, and styled her with an amazing, high quality, gorgeous wig that she felt like herself in and beautiful in. We have decided that despite the drive, if she is to buy another wig it is worth the drive back for the amazing, personable service we received. Especially knowing the awful service we get from Discretely Yours. From the moment I walked into Discreetly Yours I knew I was in a store that was going to provide me with the selection and service I was looking for. Jane the owner, worked with me to select a topper (partial wig) that suits the shape of my face and colour that compliments my skin tone. I first selected several shades lighter but Jane suggested a style and colour that suited me best. The topper is completely natural looking and I always receive compliments on my hair when I wear it. My friend from Peterborough loved mine so much she made the trip to Guelph to visit Discreetly Yours. She bought two wigs from Jane and loves them! It is nice to have this option to change up your style or just to wear them when you are having a bad hair day.
