Special dinner with the family. Celebrating year end accomplishments. Mr Mike's is one of the few places in FSJ to take a family for a nice quiet meal. Service was OK...on a FSJ standard...(Hit North Bar and Grill for awesome service 5???? - couldn't bring myself to give ???? on July 4th????). The food was typical although costly for what is provided. The Tomato Bruschetta and Steak Bites are highly recommended as appetizers. The Antler Ale is good too although the Mike's glassware is stupid...I get the marketing but they are seriously unwieldy...time for some classy glassware. Avoid the Gin Fizzle! Ugh sweet with little other flavour.

I have been to Mr. Mikes quite a few times and have always enjoyed good food and good service. Tonight we had a family dinner to celebrate my mother-in-laws 83rd birthday, we had 10 different main courses, appetizers, and desserts. Each and every dish was delicious!!!! Our sever was incredible!! I am sorry I do not remember his name, because he went above and beyond in making our evening a very pleasant experience :) The extra special treatment the birthday girl received was awesome, thank-you :) :) :) I would highly recommend having a special occasion dinner at Mr. Mikes Fort St John Thank-you again Cindy H

We just moved to fsj and haven’t really made it out much, decided to try out Mr Mikes and we had the best experience dining out. Everyone was super friendly and polite, our waitress Krystina was awesome. She came by every couple minutes to make sure everything was alright and to check in to see if we needed anything. Hands down the best customer service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. We managed to track down a manager, to let him know how great our experience was. He was also super polite and friendly to chat with. Will be back, this place rocks!

We ordered a steak sandwich to go for a very hard working crew of 4 men working 13hrs a day at the Taylor Gas Plant . The steak received was cooked and cut into 4 pieces. The steak wasn't even shared equally, one man came up super short. It was more of an tester than a meal. Doesn't anyone give fair deals for meals anymore ? Or even make a man's meal and charge accordingly? The packaging and the cost to send a crew member to pick up the meals far exceeded the 100 plus billing and left the boys hungry ! In our opinion Not a place for Steak dinners .

Just haven’t been wow’ed by this restaurant at all. We’ve ordered 3 times and I find all of their food bland. Appetizers are decent though. It’s not necessarily this restaurant in particular, I just don’t care for the food at all. I would try them again only for a steak since they are a steakhouse, but otherwise, we won’t be back. I should add however that the service was always good. No complaints there.

Had the worst meal of the year from this place yesterday, had the Asian stir-fry it was a pile of noodles all stuck together with a bunch of dried out tasteless vegetables and gross chicken with no sauce, the wife's burger was the most underwhelming burgers I have ever seen, it looked like a boiled burger on a stale bun with nothing on top. Mr Mike's shoild be ashamed of the slop we got, they will never see my shadow again.

Great place to stop by on your long drive on the Alaska Highway. It's similar to Montana's, but much better. Service always seems a bit slower but the food is worth the wait. Can get a bit too noisy for some.

Disappointing beyond belief... extremely smokey from the kitchen, poor ventilation. So if you don't mind your clothes smelling like you were at a camp out. Never again, I take back all the good things I have said, I went in on Thursday and sat at the bar, the guy serving me was brutal, took 15 mins to get a menu, finished my drink, ordered another one and he forgot, so I went in on Saturday to give it a 2nd chance, bad idea, the service was decent but my burger showed up with my appetizer, so by the time I got to it, it was cold and gross, not worth the hassle, ho elsewhere

Traveling down the AlCan to work in Oregon and Texas we stopped here for dinner. We ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms for appetizer and they were delicious stuffed with shrimp and lobster! Avoid the calamari, if looks like low tide. They have the audacity to serve deep fried"vegetables" with their calamari. The dish that was served to us had deep fried lemons as "garnish", deep fried green beans and deep fried sweet potatoes. Very little calamari though.. This had to be the most transparent way to try and save money on actually serving calamari. Other dishes are satisfactory and service is quick. Steak is great as expected. I enjoyed the Chinatown stir fry.

The cooks have to learn what well done means. There isn't supposed to be pink or blood running out of it. My son sent his back to be cooked more and still came back medium. My steak was supposed to be a 10 oz steak and they made a mistake and cooked me a 6 oz steak. It was cooked perfectly well done and they also cooked me the proper 10 oz one and let me have the 6oz one at no charge. The girls working there were excellent. I got my 10 oz steak boxed to take home. I checked it before leaving and I would say that it was less than medium done. We ended up taking both mine and my son's home to finish cooking them tomorrow ourselves. It was fairly busy and there were 5 kids and 7 adults at our table and no other issues with the food. What everybody had was excellent. I will definitely go back there the next time that I am in Fort St John.

Myself and my wife went to Mr. mikes a couple months ago we had a bad experience with the food when I called about it someone told me a manager would call me back! It never happened so I took it upon myself to call them back, when I did the manager said to come in and she would give us gift cards to make up for it however when I went in the manager said to provide receipts for the meal first!!! this is a month after the incident with no phone call back. I will never go to too Mr. Mikes again I spent a lot of money for our meals waited for a contact from a manager and was then embaressed in the restaurant.

So so terrible order Cajun chicken dish well let me tell you omg no flavour at all tasted like a can of tomato juice, not at all a bit of taste to it. Then my first bites I bite into hard pieces in my chicken omg so bad.. Ordered garlic bread well that was just as bad as the dish no flavour at all and well just bad bad bad... no stars at all one of the worse places I ever went to and then try to justify why it was no taste because Cajun chicken is suppose to be a very mild dish.. what really never knew that....

REVISED REVIEW: July 16th After posting my review, I was pleasantly surprised by prompt response. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss constructive criticism in ways to enhance the service of the servers at Mr. Mike's. I raised my family as a server and know how an off moment can send servers sideways causing customers to be disgruntled or turn nasty. I am looking forward to our next visit and use the gift cards that came with a thank you card. THEREFORE, I am changing my rating from 2 stars up to 4. A 5 star rating might be the final vote...once we have a chance to revisit Mr. Mike's and receive better quality service. My husband took me out to dinner for my birthday here June 11th. My drinks were delayed or forgotten, and my husband's coffee served luke warm. Our server was not on his game with just 3 tables, and later with more tables filling up it was impossible to get his attention. When we finally got his attention he was on auto pilot not even waiting for our response to his inquiries about our meals before he was turning away. Normally we have had decent service, but this time service and meal was beyond satisfactory, especially when you pay good money for a high quality steak.

Ordered cracklin steak bites. The bites were awesome. My boyfriend's arrived with a half container of dip and mine arrived full. My boyfriend sent his back complaining of the half full dip. They brought out another dip to go with the steak bites. When we got the bill there was an additional cost for extra dip at $0.50. So disappointed.

my buddy was raving about the burger at this place. hes from chilliwack i never tried it. he was unimpressed with this location. i thought it wasnt bad. the deep fried pickels batter was overly salty, and the burger was good but dry. a good burger should be dripping juice out the bottom side all over the plate. fatburger is twice as good.

Ordered Lobster dip and Old Fashioned. Drink was one ounce and then filled with water, not 2 ounces and a splash of water as advertised. Dip bowl was less then half. Asked the waitress if this was how much is usually served. When she looked at the bowl you could tell it was wrong by her reaction but she decided to plow through and lie, saying it was the right amount. (I ordered the same thing last time I was in town and it was full) Never saw the waitress again. Paid the bill at the front, didn't drink the water with a splash of bourbon and left. I will find a new spot for when I am in town. Any suggestions?

BEST SERVICE IN TOWN !!! In town Xmas shopping and out truck was stolen from the holiday inn express. We were in our rental having lunch at MR. Definitely a Fort St John go to...has picked up its game in the last couple of years after being a bit tired and run down before that. Service is normally top notch and the food is predictably consistent and prepared properly. One of the better outings in town.

Good service late at night. The ribeye was accurately prepared and had a good char. The bruschetta appetizer was not as good - it was almost all tomato. The house beers were pretty decent. The atmosphere was nice. I'd stop back the next time I'm in Ft St John.

Stuffed mushrooms are the bomb. Just tried the coconut crusted cod, found a new favourite meal excellent portions, it was a filling meal. (Old review) --I really enjoyed the mr mike steak sand which as well. I walked in and was sat quickly on the bar side. I noticed there are a lot of tv's to watch sports on. The bar side is lit perfectly, lots of seating. When walking to the bathroom I notice there is even more seating on the family side but no Tv's. Facilities were kept up good. Lots of parking. They make a mean Caesar too. Will come back indefinitely.

$42.00 steak was not worth the price. Save your $$. Burgers are hit and miss. Have had excellent burgers at Mike's and have had okay burgers. Very busy establishment on fruday nights during peak hours but the service didnt suffer despite being peak hour.

I had a steak there at a busy Friday night. They ushered me to a table close to the kitchen. by the time I got my meal the strong smell of fried food almost ruined my appetite! I give a "B" to taste of steak and sides Update: I was there last night - July 2021 - and had a seriously good salmon. Service was great too So I upgrade my rating to 5 stars

They have Jim Beam which is hard to find in Fort St John for some reason, and arguably the BEST steak in town. Friendly and prompt service and a casual relaxed atmosphere make for a great meal.

Mr Mikes started with a single restaurant that opened in 1960 in Vancouver, British Columbia on Granville Road. Started with two brothers, Bob and Nick Constabaris, this restaurant aims to provide a low-end dining experience for families. One feature, which was different at the time, was that the restaurant was making its own. In the late 1960s, the brothers came up with the idea for their famous salad bar. The most popular item on the menu was Mikeburger, which consisted of a burger patty served with fresh French bread and garlic butter and Mike's special sauce.

Restaurant was half empty-- was asked to wait 5 minutes for a table. Asked why a person had to wait when so many tables were empty--got a lame excuse. Said goodbye and went to Browns social house which was great. Won't be going back to Mr Mikes--on Ft St John any time soon

We were in town overnight and the restaurant was on the same lot as our hotel so we went there for dinner. It wasnt overly busy in the restaurant and we were seated right away. Our server seemed to be very uncoordinated and distracted. The food we ordered was average and came quickly but the service itself was not great. We never once got asked for drink refills and it took a long time to be able to get the server to return to our table. We waited 15-20 mins for our bill (even to get someones attention). The neighboring table had their server there checking on them bring them drinks regularly (just proving it wasnt soo busy to explain the unattentiveness) She was decently pleasant but very scattered and not a great server. Made for a rather unpleasant experience that could have been avoided.
