Was working in Ft. Mac this past week and my 2020 Chev 3500 went into limp mode due to the DEF tank freezing and the Service Department was AMAZING! Not only did they get my truck in, they were able to line up a rental and have me back on the road in one day so i could get my employees back home! DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM SUMMIT GMC IF YOU ARE AN OUT OF TOWN BUYER !! I purchased a used 2016 GMC from Summit 2 weeks ago. (Around Dec.2, 2020). I am not from Fort McMurray and was not real comfortable buying this truck only ever seeing it in pictures and talking to the salesperson. I’ve driven many of these very similar trucks and I knew exactly the kind of truck I was looking for. This truck looked great, so I inquired. After talking with the salesperson, I was assured that this truck was in Mint condition. I specifically asked if there were any dents, scratches, rust or anything on the body of the truck. I had the vehicle Carfax and the AMVIC mechanic fitness test and all looked good. I asked about the body of the vehicle several times and was very specific if there were any thing other than the typical wear and tear like some minor rock chips. I was again assured that there was nothing wrong with this truck and that it was in mint condition. I purchased the truck sight unseen and it was delivered to me early one morning. Right to my door which was nice. It was dirty from the delivery so at noon on that same day I washed the truck to check it out with my own eyes. I was very upset to see 2 decent sized chips on the doors. One on the driver door and one on the passenger door. Both the size of a dime and down to the primer. I was also very disappointed to see that down the driver side of the door, from the front of the front door to the back of the back door there were 3 or 4 decent scratches running at least 4 feet long. You can only see these scratches when it’s clean and if you are within 3 feet of the truck, but non the less this is exactly what I asked about and was told there was nothing wrong. One manager even told me that the truck was good when it left their shop and wondered if in the 4 hours that I had the truck, if something happened to it. I said oh ya, 2 decent rock chips, one on each side and a 4 foot scratch happened to me all in 4 hours when I drove it for 10 minutes in total. He said they never saw anything wrong with the truck. Then after talking to a higher manager, he admitted that they did notice these things but called it normal for a used truck. I disagreed but said even if it was normal in their eyes, those things should have been disclosed to me as I specifically asked about that. I gave them a chance to fix the truck. I took the truck to a local Edmonton GM dealership and got a quote to fix these issues. $2,600 to repaint the doors. I then asked about only power polishing the doors to get the scratches out. That cost is $425. I asked Summit to at least cover the power polishing cost and they would not do anything. They have told me that this amount of damage is normal wear and tear and that is should have been expected. They then said that our business is not a fit and that I should not shop there anymore. And I never will again and strongly recommend that no one does. They took advantage as I was an out of town buyer.

I recently purchased a 2018 Chevy 1500 LTZ Z71 Heritage Edition. My sales person Shawn Pilgrim was very polite and knowledgeable. Made the experience light hearted and fun, no pressure and let the product do the talking. This is my third vehicle from this dealer. Everything about this dealer is the best from customer service, to the parts department, Auto body and Maintenance department are always on point and provide A-1 service. Also I cannot forget about Brad in the financial loans department. He was very professionally and efficient! I will always bring my business to Summit GMC Fort McMurray! However afterwards mistakes that were made in the paper work (in-house financing/lease) and I was clear about what I wanted to do with my truck but then I was told I couldn’t do it after I took ownership of my truck. Recently drove a 10 hour round trip up for fort mac to buy a used van that seamed like a good deal. Found out when trying to register it that the out of province inspection wasnt done, how have to take time of work to take it in get it a 250$ inspection done, and hope all goes well there. Not sure what we payed a 600$ admit fee for, if we have to do the admin work ourselves.

I have been searching for a vehicle for about a year now and haven’t been able to decide what I wanted. So I went to GM to see what they had and Jillian found the perfect vehicle for me. It had every single thing I had on my list besides remote start which is easy to get later on. She was very friendly and not pushy at all which is great. The only thing I wasn’t really happy about was the administration fee of $999.00. I was not expecting it to be that high considering it isn’t even mandatory. So just ask about that fee right away, other then that experience was excellent!

After buying 2 trucks in this place I feel confident to post these comments. The quality of the vehicles is well known so my focus will be on customer service. My salesperson was Devon Andrew for the two trucks, the service was excellent, his dedication was unique and his incomparable effort in both cases she managed to get me exactly what I was asking for which was not easy because in both cases my specifications were quite detailed. Additionally, when it came to negotiating, she kept her place as the representative of the dealership but at the same time she remained open to negotiate. Among all the positive things, the best thing was that she never was an annoying salesperson but rather she was a guide in the process in other words, she was not pushy. Super patient. Bottom line Devon Andrew has been the best salesperson I have ever had to work with when buying vehicles. Perhaps not so relevant to this review but to help you find her, simply when entering the dealership look for the most elegant and good-looking woman.Just a hint to recognize her ;) , and to be sure that it is her, when you talk to her you will recognize how brilliant she is .

Just bought a new 2019 Sierra SLT. The process was simple and easy, plus entertaining, with the amazing Jill Mathieson assisting me with finding my perfect vehicle. She does sales and financing so no need to deal with more people than necessary. Bonus! All the staff at Summit are friendly and helpful but not the typically overbearing vehicle salespeople you'd expect to find at a dealership, which is refreshing. Nothing worse than walking in and made to feel like nothing more than a commission, right? My last vehicle was a 2014 Sierra from when Summit was AMP so I've been dealing with this dealership a few years now. Their service side, from the little I've needed, has also been a good experience - much better than I ever got from further up the road when I had my Liberty. Never had a vehicle from across the street so I can't compare them, though. I 100% recommend Summit, and especially Jill, if you're looking for a new vehicle.

My truck was written off due to hail damage earlier this summer so I was on the hunt for a new (to me) truck. I came across a pre owned Toyota Tundra on the Summit GM lot in Fort McMurray (I live in Calgary) so I inquired and was put it touch with Kennedy Russell. Clearly appointments in GM service department are irrelevant as I've scheduled one for service on my vehicle at 3pm and had to wait till 4:20pm just to get in. Receptionists and staff are friendly but, its unacceptable to wait for an hour specially when you made an appointment. Edit: after a frustrating wait time GM didnt charge me for some services done to my vehicle as an apology for the long wait. I really appreciate it and that right there is excellent customer service! Good job GM Summit!

My truck (2015 GMC Sierra 1500) had an oil pump failure at 102,000 KM. So I had to have it towed to Summit. I told the lady on the phone that it had a failed oil pump, and it needs to be replaced, the mechanics said the same thing. (Charged me a $200 diagnostic fee even though I told them exactly what was wrong with it.) They quoted me $3800 originally which is $600 more than any other shop in town would do it for... I asked if this could be covered under any sort of goodwill warranty or at least if they could cover a portion of the cost as it's only a $270 part that's critical to the function of the engine, and really shouldn't fail. They said no, but they agreed to not gouge me and priced the repair closer to what the other shops in town would have done it for. My visit here is proof that the dealerships and GM do not stand behind their product. This is a part that should NOT fail, especially at 100,000 KM. The pump literally sits in a bath of oil. Upon doing research MANY ecotec owners from the 2014-2018 model years have been experiencing premature oil pump failures. GM should be doing something about this. The new design of their oil pumps have led to catastrophic failures. The failure of the oil pump realistically means the useful life of my engine is degraded significantly, as running an engine without oil for even a short period is detrimental to its wear rate.. Anyways, after them declining to cover a portion of the repair, I got a call from Summit GM a couple hours later, I was hoping they have changed their mind. NOPE, it was their sales department asking me if I wanted a trade in appraisal so I could by a new model. WHAT AN INSULT. You try and gouge me on a repair, then instead of doing the right thing and standing behind your product you try and brush it under the table and get me to buy a new vehicle. Unbelievable. Why would I want to buy another GM product when you wont even stand behind the one I already own? The sad thing is I even purchased an extended warranty that never got used. So its not like it would even have been that big of a hit for them. I was also thinking about buying a new SUV from them in the next little while as my wife's car is due for replacement, but it won't be a GM now for sure. After receiving this call, I wanted to speak to the service manager, so I left a voicemail with Stephen the service manager to call me back and even asked my service advisor to get him to give me a call, he said he would after he was done his lunch. However, he waited until the end of the day and got one of his employees to call me instead, just to give me the same runaround that I got earlier. I reluctantly agreed to have it serviced there, as I would have to pay for a tow to bring it to one of the more honest shops in town. Jokes on me I guess for thinking a dealership would stand behind their product. Sure it's past the "time" warranty, but it was no where near the 160,000km GM touts it's powertrain being good for. I'll never buy a GM product ever again from this dealership. I'll never have my vehicle serviced here ever again. Beware ecotec owners from the 2014-2018 model year, you could be in for a pricy repair. It's no wonder people go to Edmonton to buy vehicles. I never used to want to leave Fort McMurray to buy a vehicle until now. What a shame.

The worst service department and worst customer service. I give my car for tire swap for free but when I got it back there were ABS and Engine Sign showing on dashboard. I returned to the service deepartment and told the facts. When I took the vehicle i already phoned them. They told to bring it back.They didn't any responsibility and talked about the money for checking.They didn't know about the ABS and they charged 300 dollars for checking.They found the reason there is some leakage in inlet valve for that I have to pay 900 dollars.This all happened in that half an hour.The eingine sign is still on. I know this happened when the tire swap done there must be sensors moved or something.I emailed to the service department manager but he didn't bother to give reply.The first and last service with this firm.

I was in town to visit some friends and took my car in to get an oil change. The service desk told me I had leaking seals, some lines that were leaking and also my brake oil and needed to be changed. I wanted to get it done that day but I didn't have time. I told my dad about it when I eventually got home and he looked at it all and said he didn't see any leaks and told me I should take it somewhere else for a second opinion. Took to another shop and they said I didn't have any leaks and brake oil was fine. It amazes me how a GM dealer can take advantage of a woman bc we don't know much about cars. My vehicle is currently in their service department, I had to have it towed there 8 days ago because of a key issue, apparently its a common issue, but it must not be that common because I cant even be told when the part will be in yet. So I've been 8 days and counting with no vehicle and nobody can tell me when the part will be in, probably the worst service I've experienced. Oh and it was suppose to have recall work done as well which I doubt nobody has done while its just been sitting there. I was originally told 4 days, now I doubt it will even be done before the 2 week point , good thing its summer and I have no plans. Only 70k on my suv, the list is as follows for mess up -got oil changes, they forgot to put a bracket back on that nearly went threw my engine( multiple times) -got new windshield replaced, they put over 3k worth of damaged and tried to pass it off as previous damage, thank got i took time stamped pictures. -got damage repaired, given the vehicle back but was not correct. -driver seat leather cracked. Got new seat cover but they never did their due diligence and check the cause of the failed part. Still not corrected. - got a yearly inspection. Told vehicle was in great shape. Found a large deep Grove in my passenger side front brake disk. If anybody decides to buy from them, please think twice. Fail Rate 100% Ps: went to.drop off my vehicle at the body shop and the poor young kid moving vehicles could not figue out to start A standard, had to tap on the window to tell hime to push the clutch pedal in. Ie:How to start a 500+house power yellow mustang gt350.

I called and got a price on the part I needed then called service for a quote which was absurd. Picked up the part and installed myself in a quarter of the time quoted. There wasn't shop items required, a piece of paper towel that's it! I'm not a professional mechanic. Just wondering how many people get over charged on unit pricing labor compared to actual time install?

Brought my 2017 Sierra in to diagnose a rumbling noise in the front end. Was told noise was caused by uneven tire wear and only solution was installing 4 new tires and doing a wheel alignment (total quote $2100). Disappointed because the tire wear may have been reduced with regular tire rotations but every time I asked summit to do it with my oil changes they told me no need as tires were wearing evenly. Ended up buying new tires elsewhere for cheaper as I wanted winter tires this year ($1700 for 22” blizzak winters mounted and balanced vs $1900 summit quoted me for generic all seasons) and also had the alignment done elsewhere, but the front end noise persists. I’m not sure if the summit service advisor was poorly trained or was trying to mislead me when she suggested that I should be replacing my tires every 1-2 years, but that was a huge red flag that I should get my vehicle out of there and go elsewhere. After I declined the work at summit, I was given the runaround for the service shuttle and had to make alternate arrangements to pick up my vehicle, very frustrating. Apparently it takes 1.5 hours to drive a vehicle out of their service bay that has had no work performed (that was there since 1030am) which can cause you to miss the nightly closing cut-off. This is the most recent of a long list of bad experiences with GM service departments across the country with different vehicles, and it may just be my last. I’m starting to wonder why I would ever buy another $70,000 GMC truck when I can buy a cheaper vehicle from a luxury brand and get much better service at the dealership. I thought shopping locally and getting your vehicle serviced at the place you bought it from would be advantageous but so far that has not been the case.

Purchased a 2019 Sierra in June, took it for its first service in December - was denied requested services as there were not enough km on the truck. Yesterday (Wednesday) had all the warning lights come on and complete brake failure, it had to be towed to the dealership. They are refusing to have anyone look at until Monday, also refusing to give a loaner or do the paperwork for a rental as no technician has looked at the vehicle. Will definitely be the last vehicle or service I get done at this dealership.

We bought our Yukon Denali from the previous GM dealer in Fort Mac. (Alberta Motor Products) At the time of purchase, we were told we would be getting free oil changes for the life of our vehicle. When my fiancée took it in for one, they didn't bother informing her that they will no longer honor the free oil changes until after the oil change was done. She also had a burnt out fog light. Summit quoted almost $400 for the part and labor. We had it replaced at a GM dealer in Calgary for $70. ($30 part and $40 labor). Summit also gave her a list of "recommended" repair work that totaled around $7,000 including both rear struts that are still in great condition. I would avoid doing business with this dealership until their corporate greed culture changes.

Not thinking too much about it we weren’t planning on trading in our truck, we asked about a Silverado High Country. Knowing that was going to be completely out of our budget our salesmen Mike and Alex in finance worked their magic and got us into a 2018 Titan. Alex went above and beyond our expectations. We got warranty, loss of job security, and accidental death coverage and a lower interest rate which we didn’t have on our truck. I was also added to the loan which I didn’t think was possible but he made it happen! We highly recommend you deal with Alex in finance while he’s still here! He’s on loan from Grande Prairie but I think Fort McMurray could use more guys like him. Thanks again Mike for not giving up, and getting us into the perfect truck.

I find whenever I call their Service Department’s customer service line most of them sound like they’re being bothered and not too enthusiastic to help when I ask questions about the progress on my vehicle repair. Not only that when I went to pick up my vehicle after the repair was complete, the guy that was at the pick up window/cashier wouldn’t even talk to me like a customer he was very ignorant which I was confused by since I was quite polite when I spoke to him. In conclusion I will not be driving all the way to the other end of town to get to this dealership just to end up getting horrible customer service.

Cant get my truck in working 9-5 usually two weeks in advance and gotta use the Express on weekends which aint very Express. Always a line up and then it closes at 1230 for oil changes!! Brought my vintage car for valve cover gasket replacement (brought my own gasket), fix a misfiring sparkplug and a tune up, got the quote and the job was scheduled for 1 day. After they ordered some small parts wrong (having the vin number and so) , they came up with some odd issues saying that the car wasnt drivable, knowing the car very well and always well taken care of, saying that got some big leaks (not according to my garage floor) and they wanted to charge me extra $2,500 to change a couple hoses and do more "diagnoses", after I refused their statement and those extra jobs, I got into a bitter talk with the service advisor in charge of the car (nice person but zero knowledge on anything mechanic) and after having the car for 3 days there and pushing to get it ready, when I went to pick it, they didn't even change the valve cover gasket since I refused their abusived quote of $2,500, they didn't even mentioned that they were not doing it, and they went from pointing a totally necessary repair, to a recommendation just in case after making clear that what they were trying to push wasnt right neither honest, when I tried to talk to the advisor, she wasn't even there because was on lunch, I was there for over 45 minutes to 1 hour and she never showed up to talk about it. There was another advisor that tried to help but didnt know anything about the job or the quote and he told me that they will call me back. Had to leave because i had to go back to work. At the end they didn't do the main job that I brought the car for because I didn't accept what they were trying to push, going from a critical issue to a just a recommendation. Never be back in this place again. When they promote shopping local, it should start with local businesses providing good and honest services and products at reasonable prices and not trying to gauge ppl, treating customers like cash cows with poor and abusive practices.

Purchased a gently used pre-certified F150 two weeks ago, within 10km the check engine light was on. Summit picked up the truck and took it to the local Ford dealer for warranty, they advised it was an O2 sensor but a safety recall was out and parts on back order. I discussed with the finance manager what Summit was going to do to back up the truck they sold me, to "make things right", and the finance manager and I discussed options. Tonight I attended in person as many phone calls and texts were going unanswered. I was introduced to a General Manager who proceeded to berate me for asking for "stuff", he offered to refund my money then backed off, and all but threw me out of the dealership - all the while I remained polite. He at first refused to give me his name, finally did identify himself but I had to ask an associate at the customer service desk for his card. When I pointed out that Summit personnel had picked up and delivered my vehicle to the Ford dealership (thus I don't know which location) he stated "so what. Thats your problem. Pick up your own truck". With this level of customer courtesy from the highest level, I can't recommend strongly enough to look elsewhere

Bad service cheap quality not even worth it the money I am glad get rid of my GMC Terrain 2019 and get Hyundai palisade best kind of service amd quality not even comparable

Summit seems to be getting better. They got some new staff. Dealt with Crystal at service what a night and day difference from the other attendant I usually dealt with she was amazing, communicative on everything. And as for parts dealt with Bryan and we had some trouble with my part but he stayed in contact with me and got it dealt with. He was absolutely amazing. I had no choice but to bring my vehicle to get serviced there this time and I was regretting it but after these 2 employees being amazing it made me start having faith in this place again. Was a breath of fresh air. Thank you Crystal and Bryan.

On Friday 10th I booked my vehicle in for repairs for an engine misfire that I noticed that morning when I started the vehicle.I had my son deliver the vehicle at Summit GM at 12 noon for the appointment as I had to be in Edmonton for a medical appointment.The lady I was dealing with understood that I needed to be informed about the diagnosis and quote before work could begin on my vehicle.At around about 3:15pm I phoned and left a message and contact number to find out about progress on my vehicle.Soon after I spoke with a lady in customer care as I had not heard from the service agent assigned to deal with my vehicle.When I finally heard from her she explained that booking time does not mean your vehicle is in the workshop.Fair enough! She then told me that my vehicle had been in the workshop for about 20 minutes and the problem had been diagnosed and she was waiting from the spares department before she could complete the quote. She phoned me soon after and quoted me $732.16 to replace the throttle position sensor.I asked why so much and she replied that the sensor was difficult to install.I felt I had no choice so I gave her the go ahead.She informed me the vehicle would be ready between 6:30 and 7:30pm.I arrived at 6:30 and paid for my vehicle.I scrutinized the invoice and noticed the replacement part cost $70.69.I asked the service agent and she said cost of spare does not have any bearing on labour costs.I felt and still feel ripped off and I told her what I thought about the bill.Upon further inspection at home my wife pointed out a charge of $74.61 for,and I quote"misc material use and hazardous waste disposal"The next morning I phoned a dealership in Edmonton and was quoted 1.3hours which worked out to $255.00 labour including consumables to install the same sensor.You add the cost of the sensor and the total is less than half what Summit gm charged me.I feel I have been ripped off.Summit is the only GM dealership in town.I guess that gives you a licence to fleece your customers!
