The employees aren't trained properly to handle customer complaints or do curb side pick up during the pandemic we are currently experiencing. If I could give this store 0 stars I would. Prices were highly inflated and not marked so you get a bit of sticker shock when you go to pay. Very shocked with the customer service. I normally get to a Pet Valu and have to fight the staff back with a broom as they are always so eager to help and provide such great service. This place - not so much. Was haughtily told go keep my dog away from the till as there was a service dog behind the counter (fine - not great delivery, but fine). Then when I replied and began to ask when I can find xxx product. I never actually got a chance to finish my ask as she turned away from me and went back to the booklet /paper on the table.

I have known the owners of the Pet Value store at West Ridlge for over 25years. Susan put my darling animals up on their wall of pet pictures 25 years ago. I was one of their 1st customers. Sincere lovers of all pets with the vast an excellent knowlege and training. It can be a little problem or a significant health issue. They have taught me wonderful lifelong diets and behaviour teqnichniqes cats dogs and even fish in the day..everyday care and special health needs and senior pet care. They truely are the best in town. If they dont know the answer to your question they will find out the answer from proper and certifiable training and information from proffissional Veterinary sources. Their staff are patient knowledgable. They care about your animals. Not your money if that is a simple enough comment A terrific pet store. It is always like going home. This is a great pet food store. The inventory is clean and fresh. They have a generous loyalty program for the dog food I buy. The variety of toys and treats is excellent. And their hours are quite long, so if you discover after dinner that you don't have any dog food for the morning, you can run down to Pet Valu for more.

I want to address a couple points in this review and have included pictures of various animals in their care below for reference. THE GOOD: #1 their staff is wonderful. While Pet Value is a chain, the store itself is locally owned and it shows. The new owners changes such as the removal of the glass tanks for rabbits/guinea pigs, and the addition of paper bags rather then plastic showed their care and detication to improving the store. The employees are all pleasant and helpful, especially with cat or dog food reccomendations. #2 the store is clean and the animal cages are too. #3 they have wide selection of foods, beds, toys, etc, in a variety of price ranges but even their most inexpensive tier of products is still largely good quality which I appreciate #4 they listen to their customers! I expressed concern one time I was there as the hamsters were fighting and had clearly aged out of the stage where they could safely be kept together, the hamsters were almost immediately separated and I havent seen fighting or injuries to their hamsters since. Syrian hamsters must be separated by 8 weeks of age or earlier otherwise they will fight to the death, they are a solitary species. Now THE LESS GOOD AND THE BAD: #1 "Teddy bear" and "smooth" hamsters are colloquial names and it may be misleading to customers to label them as such. The hamsters they sell are long haired and short haired syrian hamsters, they're the same species and knowing the species is important so customers can provide them with the appropriate care. #2 Misleading products are abound in the short small mammal aisle, this may be more of a problem with the industry itself but Critter Tales cages are completely innapropriate for hamsters (the minimum cage requirements are 450 square inches for a hamster, even more in europe where hamster care has better standards) yet are proudly displayed eye level with all the overly excitable kids who want a hamster but neither them or their parents know anything of proper care. Cramped cages, tiny wheels that arch and damage hamsters backs, WIRE wheels that are frequently the culprits responsible for hamsters losing limbs, and excercise balls that are a hazard for a cornucopia of reasons, all brightly coloured tools of improper care, neglect, and animal abuse. Hamsters may be small but that doesnt make them any less deserving of respect and care. #3 Rabbit cages have the same problem, the minimum rabbit enclosure is 44 square FEET, aka all the rabbit cages avaliable are more appropriate for hamsters then rabbits. It would be nice to see you guys stock something like XPens in your rabbit section and be a positive influence on small pet husbandry. #4 the betta cups are abysmal as in any chain store but that doesnt make it anymore okay.

I called Pet Valu on Monarch Drive to inquire about getting her a larger case so as she would have more room to stretch out and be comfortable. Trying to buy this adopted cat at this location and its almost impossible to do this.I have to call this other adoption agency that has the cats for sale I don't know why they don't integrate the entire transaction it into one easy transaction that can be done at the store doesn't make any sense to me. I made an order online for curbside pick up for and aquarium vacuum earlier this week. There was only one on their website so I just ordered it because I wanted to support local business. A few days later I received an email saying, "It's been discontinued. Sorry for the inconvenience." No alternatives, no suggestions. There wasn't even a signature or sign off on the email. If its discontinued, why is it on the website? And again, it was the only option they "had". I've been ordering online and curbside with businesses in Lindsay for a year and a bit now and this was the worse experience of any business I've dealt with. It was curt, unprofessional, and shows me they dont need my business or support. I'll be telling anyone I know that Pet Valu in Lindsay doesn't need their business either.

Love the staff, and their selection. Some collars / leashes could use an update. I’ve been waiting to see if they’d ever get a certain colour in in a particular collar, as they have the matching purple leash but not the purple collar. They just have red pink and green, collars with all the matching leashes but no purple collar, and it’s been that way since September, none have budged. Other than that minor thing, everything is great!

The first time I went to this Pet Valu it was largely because it was the closest to my rural home but I continue to go because of the staff. I've never felt so comfortable and welcome when I bring my dog to a pet store. The employees there are always so lovely and helpful! They genuinely seem to care about thier customers: both human and animal! I love taking my dog there to get a new toy and while I'm getting the help I need, my girl gets showered with pets from the generous employees. We both have a wonderful experience every time we go in! Thanks for being awesome Pet Valu!

Wide variety of toys and foods. They have multiple Birds and only offer Beta fish. I loved the staff, very helpful and friendly. They partnered up with the Orillia SPCA and had two kittens available to adopt last week! My only wish is that they would have a larger selection of fish so I don't have to drive to Barrie to get more Corydoras! Thanks!

Was pretty disappointed with the service I got today when I was in the store. After approaching the desk the man behind the counter who had just rudely finished saying to a lady at the counter that "if it isn't on the shelf they don't got it" he turned to me to say what do you need..without so much as a hello welcome nothing. I asked if he sold live reptile to food to which he just laughed in my face and pointed at the restaurant and said he can't have those because if the restaurant got insects he would be to blame lmao That is the saddest excuse I've ever heard! Lol I've gone to many pet stores in many location where they were at the same building as restaurants and grocery stores etc. it's called safe handling procedures if your to lazy or unequipped the handle a box of crickets and the best you can do is goldfish and Frisbee's maybe pet store shouldn't be the name if you offer the same items as a Walmart at more expensive prices glad global pet foods has everything you need in a one stop shop and friendly staff who don't deem bitter or rude to customers with questions.

I like the accessibility of the store - The staff always greets me when I come in. Super nice people that work there. They didn't carry what I was looking for, so I did have to go elsewhere. They don't carry Nutram, but they do have a large selection of other foods that are seemingly well-priced.
