I found so many Scooby-Doo movies there and my mom works there
Fav thrift store in town!
I hate doing this... But I feel that ur Store, should take a new Look on the Meaning of the word Charity... We have donated many Items to ur store & spent quiet a few Dollars.. But Yesterday, really put a Stop to any other Donations to You! We were driving through Kenmont Rd, Saw ur Sign Flashing 50 % off Entire Stock, so we came in.. There was about 30 other ppl in there, that also saw ur sign. We wanted to buy a Dresser there , tagged at $200. knowing that it was 50 % off. After about 15 min. off ur staff taking it as a big joke, they we laughing around the store.. Saying NO .. nothing is 50 % off....we asked to speak to the manager.. One Supervisor went in & asked her, she said that it was a Mistake, & that they were fixing it. My Husband asked to speak to her, which he did on the Ph. for about 30 seconds, & when he told her that it was False advertising , she hung up on him. He left the store leaving me there, she comes out of her office . She didnt know that I was with him, so I approched her, & also asked about the sale. She kept saying that it was a Mistake. I then told her that I was in retail myself, & that I felt that she should honor her sale to the Customers that she Drew in, with her sign. Everyone there said the same thing. She disagreed.. She actually told me that ... SHE"" Couldnt afford to Pay two men to go & pick up That Dresser, & give it to Me for $100.00.. When I told her that It was False Advertising... she said OH Well, thats all I can do! Knowing that this is all for Charity... Where is The Meaning in your Managers Voice!!!! I will tell you that the ppl in there yesterday, did agree with us, & I know that you have lost Customers... I know that you depend on the Public for your support... Thats why I have Gone Public with This... sincerely Dianne
Shopping area in building is very over crowded with product, space to move is minimal in most areas. Many used items for sale are in poor condition. There is usually only one cashier servicing customers and the cash line up is always confusing as there is no clear area to line up. Upon entering the building, there is a very strong mildewy, overpoweringly dusty smell which often makes me sneeze and makes breathing uncomfortable. After browsing through household items and clothing, my hands and that of my companion's were covered in an unpleasant smelly residue. I have also been in the changing rooms in the past and they are dirty (unswept, undusted, unmopped etc.). As for customer service, there needs to be some extra training, particularly for the manager. I have, on numerous occasions, had prices changed when I purchased items. I have been told the item was "priced wrong." I have been told that tags have been switched (no idea how it was even possible). Some of the employees are belligerent, ignorant and rude (not just to me, but to other customers who have been ahead of me in the line up). I'm shocked that this thrift store is still in business because of their behaviour to customers and because their products are extremely overpriced for a used item business. I'd love to support their business because it is a charity and buying second hand is a great eco-conscious choice...but I will not tolerate abuse from these people. I will shop elsewhere, even if it means I have to buy new.
Smells bad
I enjoy the store, it's a bit of an odd place for sure. I find the cashiers are either super friendly or super anti social or something...like they couldn't be bothered to help you. I do a bit of game collecting so I pop by for a quick check and head on my way. Some cashiers don't mind getting something behind the glass casing but others are super annoyed by it and don't really hide it. One thing they've done to me a bunch of times is tell me the item is final sale after it's being processed and approved on the debit machine. Would make more sense to tell you before...personally I don't care I don't return anything anyways but just found that odd. Cause if I'm told afterwords it's like oh by the way you can't return this item you just bought.
Large warehouse space
Alright.
Could be maintained better. Don’t even feel like staying more than 5 mins in there
Too expensive for a second hand store, I used to love this spot but now I rarely go because the prices are outrageous. A lot of items are more expensive than what value village would charge for them
Over priced items and not very clean. But it's for a good cause
It was great, it sold everything you can imagine, from furniture to ornaments, clothes to electric appliances. And the prices are excellent value. You can find so many gems here without spending very much at all. Great shop!
Overpriced, but a large selection of clothing, housewares, and furniture. Very little electronics
Great deals and a massive selection of items.
Great place to get some cheap deals.
Prices are way too high
I am an avid VV shopper. This store is crowded, items are hard to find and it looks very dreary and chaotic. It's a glorified Sally Ann store.
Prices are now ridiculous this used to be a good spot for deals not anymore avoid at all costs.
i love thrift stores
The place is overpriced and difficult to pick through. They very rarely have a sale so the old stock never gets cleared out making the racks crammed. The atmosphere is unfriendly, dim, and depressing. Turning on some music wouldn’t hurt! My biggest complaint Is how inconvenient it is to try on clothes. They have a policy where you are allowed to take 5 items in at a time, but they take your cart up to the cash area. You are told to ring a bell when you want more items. Most of the time the staff are too busy to actually help so you end up having to get dressed, leave your purse etc in the fitting room (unattended) and get the clothes yourself. I feel like this makes customers feel uncomfortable as the employees suspect everyone is a thief. Major reason why I stopped shopping here. Whoever made this policy needs to seriously reassess. Inconvenience at its finest.
Decent selection of items.
Best second hand store
I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this store. It’s a thrift store with tons of stuff to choose from. Yeah it could be more organized or whatever but it’s like an old school thrift store you have to spend a little bit of time looking through everything. If you think something is too expensive, don’t buy it. Don’t run to the internet to complain it’s not value village or Salvation Army. If you’re old enough to remember, those stores used to be exactly the same as PLCAT. If you love thrift stores you will love this one. If you’re looking for a perfectly organized store experience then stick to the mall or Walmart. Plus you’ll be supporting people with epilepsy. Win win imo
Supports a great cause, and it's always tax free!
Great prices, friendly staff, and a wonderful selection of clothes
Love that they are open again! Please wear a mask before you enter to make shopping and browsing healthier and happier for everyone!! And they will remain open if we all do our part by doing this. Happy shopping everyone :)
Large selection of merchandise but not enough room on the racks for all the clothes. Really hard to look through when everything is jammed so tight. They need to have a major sale to clear out old stock. The building lighting is also not that bright. But I still like going there from time to time just to look around.
Awesome place, lots to look at and tax free!
Big selection and fair priced. Some of the staff are very rude, one in particular I have said hello, thank you, etc to and been completely ignored on multiple occasions. Unfortunately someone like that makes the place look bad even though the majority of the girls there are great.
Great selection of used clothing. Lots of kitchen items as well, and a modest amount of furniture. Everything is priced very fairly, and for my money is the best thrift store in town.
I love how much stuff they have and that most things are relatively cheap and affordable. I found some books that I purchased and I enjoy but I kind of wish that they would give you a better deal if you're buying in bulk. I must have purchased 30 plus books and the person at the cash thought they were $2 each but turned out they were $5 each. Still happy with my purchase but a little disappointed at the confusion... As my purchase came to over $200 whereas it could have been just over $80.
Never anything good there for younger adults
Terrible access to goods. My son purchased a candle holder and underneath the price said "$40X2" but only one candle holder there. There other was missing. The first thing said to him was "we can't change the price." He didn't understand what associate meant. So upon check out, they rang him in for $40 and offered him hope that he'd find the second matching one in the future. How terrible. How crusty are those store policies. It's a second hand store, my god have some common sense.
I went around this store picking out something to wear to a gala I have tonight finally found something after 2 hours and couldn’t buy it because one item didn’t have a tag on it. Unbelievable! I don’t even have enough time to be going around looking for something else. I don’t suggest going here! They could have changed me 15 $ for all I cared!!!!
Very packed tightly with stuff. Hard to move around.
Real nice emplyees and its very fair in their prices alot of nice things there to buy including furniture and clothing and much more it was real nice to visit the place and im 100 % sure that ill be visiting again
The manager likes trying to humiliate you in front of staff.. every week the tag changes to 50% off. This week it was beige. I found a pair of shorts with such a tag making it half price. Angela wispered to her staff that she wanted to check me in.. very obvious and I had to wait until she got off the phone first while the girl stood idle. She looked it up down inside out to see what she could conclude all for the $2 discount. I totally ignored her as she was trying to find a way to not honor the sale. Ridiculous
Best selection of clean, good-condition used clothes in town. Prices are very reasonable.
Expensive
Because it's friendly
I quite enjoy shopping at your store. However, going in tonight and hearing the older woman complain constantly about things and how she planned on leaving after her vacation ruined it for me. The other girl was trying to get her work done.
Very disappointed today when I went to buy an unpriced book at Previously Loved and the cashier took out her cell phone to look up how much she should charge me for it. I assumed she was looking it up on ebay or Amazon. I was also charged $5 for a small, second hand plush toy that wasn't marked with a price. I understand that some items should cost more than others, but something about the experience didn't sit right.
Gross, dirty, overpriced junk.
Love thrift stores especially ones for a good cause. However this store is not making the best use of its space (which is really large) it requires an entire makeover in presentation as well as organising the merchandise. Is there a committee that could do this? The potential for this store is huge.
Just heard about this place on CBC morning show. Can't believe I didn't know about it before. Just saved $150 on a Jones New York jacket plus no tax, I LOVE charity thrift stores.
With the dressing rooms closed there are no longer mirrors available.
Great place to work!
There is really only one day out of the year to shop here and that is on National Epilepsy Day. On that day, the whole store is 50% and that is the only day you can get items for a decent price. The store is large and the selection is good but the prices are way too high. Like what many thrift stores are doing, they look up items they think are valuable on eBay but they look at listing prices and not SOLD prices. They have a section in the thrift store behind the glass counters that is crammed with overpriced stuff that never sells, many with "eBay printouts" in front of them. I get a chuckle every time I go in there and see a pack of 1992 sports cards for $10 when the whole set of cards is worth that much. That pack of cards has been sitting there for 2 years. Lowers your prices, folks!
Very nice, happy staff! Looks great!! They have everything changed around so you never know what kind of treasures you will see.
Staff are very friendly and the store was easy to navigate.
I'm fairly new to the East Coast and I finally found a wonderful second hand store with a variety of items. I love going into places like this cause you can always find great deals and wonderful gems. I've visited this store quite a few times now and I don't understand the nah sayers. Obviously these people with the negative reviews haven't visited alot of these stores outside of the St. John's area because I can tell you the prices here are very reasonable. The staff that I encountered "which were many" are very friendly, courteous and helpful. All I can say is keep up the great work, keep being wonderful!! See you again soon ????
The staff here are constantly bad-mouthing guests as soon as they leave or are not in sight. In my couple times being here, I've seen this happen after every visitor left, for any reason at all. If you can tolerate that, previously loved has the best selection of electronics, media, furniture and housewares out of the thrift stores. Clothing selection is alright but it's not as good as the other spots.
Everything here is at least double what you would pay for the same items at other thrift stores, they treat everyone like potential thieves, they have overly strict policies, the store is dingy and depressing, cluttered, and smells bad, the workers are rude, they dont want to be asked for assistance, and theyre constantly badmouthing customers.
Great Cause! What happened to the cleanliness when it was located on O'Leary Ave & even at the other Kenmount Rd location? Both those were bright & better organized. I was there Mar 2019 this store is dark, disorganized, racks crammed with a lot of faded, stained unwearable clothing. Maybe if items given room to breathe the odor wouldn't be so strong. Too, too bad.
I used to go to this thrift store all the time, the wonderful selection of jeans had me coming back for more every time, I almost had enough jeans to fill my second closet but the secret was that I only went there because of the handsome young man with a tiny head who worked there and I bought way too many pairs of used jeans just to see him
Always a gem in the pile if you got time to look.
I love thrift shopping, and have for over 50 years. This is one the worst stores as far as setup, prices, intimidated staff. There are bins all over the store on the floors, overcrowding of items(no doubt because they are overpriced and don't move). Bookshelves are so close, no light can get in. Prices on some items are almost absurd. Ex. a tin whistle for $20., or an old electric lawn mower for $100. I'm pretty sure this store would move 3 times the volume if prices were reasonable, and you could see them. The only thing that has improved since this store has opened is the lighting.
I had the absolute worst and humiliating shopping experience of my life in this store yesterday. Went there looking for a winter jacket for a needy person. I found one that was suitable and right size. The price tag was $30. Thinking that was a bit pricy for thrift store price I decided to check what colour tag was 50% off that day. Luckily it was the colour on the coat so I went to the cashier to buy it. She hesitated and sized up the jacket and said that's not the right price. This should be $40 and somebody switched the tag. Then she quickly said "Oh I'm not saying that you did it". Then I asked how would they switch a tag. Then she proceeded to show me by forcing the end of the plastic holder out though the paper tag. It was obvious that it wasn't switched or she wouldn't have to force it. Then I asked why would anyone go through that trouble and leave the coat there? She said they probably do it and leave it there for their friend to pick up later. I could not believe the treatment I was given in front of other people. I wanted to sink into the floor. I called to speak to a manager after I left very upset. The manger had the exact same attitude as the cashier and told me " you didn't expect to get the coat for $15 did you?" I could feel the sarcasm in her voice. Besides being treated like a criminal for trying to help a needy person I also felt embarrassed, humiliated and leaving very very upset without the jacket. I will never ever donate or set foot in that overpriced, cluttered, dirty store with unfriendly staff ever again.
Very friendly. And great service .definitely will go again
