While I haven't been to the store in person, the service I received from this location was exceptional. I attempted to order an item by phone, they weren't able to give me an immediate answer on my order so Jenny took my number and called me back within the hour to follow up, she then placed my order over the phone and I had my package delivered to my home in the lower mainland the next day!! Outstanding!! Thanks Valhalla!!

I've picked up a number of items at VPO lately; they offer a wide range of quality products, the staff are helpful and friendly, but not pushy or continually in your face. In addition, their reward program provides a really nice discount. Consistent with most backcountry equipment outlets, you may find some items priced either a little higher or lower; so while it makes sense to shop around, if 'getting out' is the real focus, factoring in the extra hassle of traffic and ancillary travel expenses makes 'one-stop shopping' a lot less stressful.

For North Island life Valhalla is the perfect spot to grab the best brands of outer wear, footwear, tents and anything else you could possibly need for life outdoors. The staff here are über knowledgeable and usually have first hand experience with what they have on the racks.

This store may be small, but it is jam packed, in an organized way, with so much merch. The staff are all very helpful and most of them are super friendly. I have spent hours in there, asking questions, trying things on, having them special order items. These guys LOVE to talk about outdoor gear. That is so helpful to someone like me. :)

Simple review based on the lack of service in the Courtenay store, in a town where we get used to helpful service. We'll shop elsewhere, but sad as you are the only gear store in town and we hike 30 days a year or more.

Outstanding customer service! Being in Vancouver, I spoke to Abbey over the phone in regards to a tent that was only in stock at the Courtenay store. Not only did she answer all my questions in a very friendly, informative manner (same questions they must get asked everyday), but she went above and beyond in making sure my tent would be shipped ASAP. I had a similar experience with Jodie from the VPO online customer service team as well. Here I am less than 24hrs later and my package has arrived. Thanks a lot crew! You have made a new loyal customer!
