I've had good experiences for all of the 8 years I've come to pei, this is the first place I stop and the last place I go when I'm leaving! A little pricey (5$ or so for a double scoop) but like they advertise this is truly the best ice cream ever. Staff is very diligent with allergies while still being able to serve customers without allergies nuts. Great place overall!

My wife and I traveled across the country from BC to visit the Maritimes about 10 years ago. Drove across the Confederation Bridge after visiting her folks in New Brunswick. I worked in construction, so was quite interested in this bridge. Spent some time around the PEI side of the bridge and happened on Gateway Village, and specifically the COW brand ice cream store. Very unique for me. Tasty ice cream. Got some nice gifts in their store. A must stop for drivers after getting off the bridge and continuing further into PEI

Excellent ice cream and quick service. They have some unique flavours and some fun names for their ice creams. The staff were making waffle cones fresh to serve which was very cool to see and makes for a really tasty cone. Overall a great experience especially for the kids.

Always hard to compete with Ben & Jerry's but these guys are neck and neck. Delicious takes, very creamy with similar style. Make it a stop on the way in and out of PEI!

Wow Cowie ice cream was a solid 5 star ice cream. Also got some of their chocolate covered chips which were pretty good too. But the store was so low on stock, it was hard to find any shirts in any size for the kids or family. Possibly COVID stock issues, but definitely was a letdown we couldn't get a souvenir.

Cows have the best ice cream on the island, True it’s a little pricey, but it’s delicious, and if you see ever see Cal store you’ll see a lineup because the ice cream is so delicious, There is many different kinds of ice cream and they’re all delicious. That’s not all you can get in the car store you can also get T-shirts cups mugs all kinds of treasures. If you like this review give me a thumbs up

I love that they have a COWS location right next to the bridge so that you can get last minute COWS merchandise before leaving the island. It won't be the place with the most items but they have the classic flavours and offerings as well as their most popular and recent items on sale. It's great because it'll most likely be your last stop before leaving and there's nothing more PEI than COWS, except maybe potatoes but ice cream is more fun!

Great stop. Cows has the best ice cream in Canada but you should go to their factory near Charlottetown if you want the full on cows experience. This one smelled too much like subway which leaves that smell on you for hours and doesn't mix well eating ice cream. Definitely a grab and go spot.

Just great delicious ice cream in a wonderful waffle cone. A PEI icon! This location is unfortunately next to a subway which overpowers the normally delightful scent of the waffle cones but that's pretty minor. It also includes a huge selection of classic Cows t-shirts and other merchandise.

Came here three time when I visited Prince Edward Island. The ice cream is pretty good depending on the flavours you get. I've tried the pei strawberry, wowie cowie, sea salt toffee, pistachio and birthday cake. My favourite ones are the pei strawberry and the birthday cake flavours. They were both really creamy. The birthday cake was on the sweeter side since it had blue syrup inside of it. But it was still really good. I ended up getting a few take out containers of ice cream to bring home. The waffle cones are made fresh in store ! Definitely worth the try ! Apparently they are also known as Canada's best ice cream shop.

Overall, the icecream was fine, but the unhappy service utterly (hehe) ruined this experience. Getting icecream is supposed to be fun. No dice here. We arrived 20 minutes before they officially open but the doors were and we planned to peruse the gift shop until we could be served. The girl behind the counter interrupted our conversation amongst ourselves to let us know that we would have to wait until 10. We said OK--we were just looking. When 10 came she yelled over to us across the store before we came back to the counter, 'what can I get for you'. We hadn't decided and she stood there and starred at us as we decided quickly, feeling uncomfortable. We got a double scoop to share, but asked for dishes because we wanted to separate the flavours. She jammed them together in one dish anyway. This was supposed to cost $5.45 but she charged $7.14 somehow. (Does PEI have 31%tax suddenly?) The scoops were tiny. The flavours were OK. There was no where to sit inside so we went out in the cool grey weather and sat on a picnic bench to eat. Here we met an adorable crow who babbled at us the whole time we ate. This was the highlight of the experience. Would return here for crow encounter only.

This COWS is unique because it shares a space with Subway- there’s nothing like the confusing smell of Subway’s shredded lettuce and fresh bread mixed with COWS’ sugary waffle cone smell. Washrooms were disgusting- no paper towel OR toilet paper. Ice cream was good and staff were nice.

COWS has been my favourite ice cream palor since I was a child. My family wouldn't always go to PEI, since it was a couple hours away from where we lived. It was always a special occasion when we went, and I always cherished the moment. The amazing smell when you walked in, and the variety of ice cream flavours to chose from. Usually, i'm a fast eater. But when i'm eating at COWS I try to make every bite meaningful. I loved COWS, and trust me, I still do. But when I visited a couple weeks ago, I was super excited to relive these moments. The smell, always amazing like I remembered, but the taste, is quite good but nothing like I remembered it to be. Maybe I let my high praise of COWS get in the way of my eating experience, but COWS felt like any other ice cream chain. Good ice cream (Because it's ice cream, duh), but nothing spectacular and different. Nothing better than the chains we had at my location. I love COWS, but it's not all that. If your in PEI, you should try it. It's still labeled "Canada's Greatest Ice Cream", and everyone should get the chance to try it.

Was very busy when we were here. We did the self guided tour then stood in line for about 25 minutes for ice cream without moving too much forward so we left due to having small children with us who do not do well with that long a wait. They should get move setving staff during the high holiday season.

First stop off the Confederation Bridge as you enter Prince Edward Island is generally a bustling tourist trap of souvenir shops and quick bites to eat. We arrived in late May and at supper time went into the village desperately needing supper. All we found was a ghost town. Nothing was open, not even Subway, which we would have settled for. Otherwise, during peak tourist season this is an excellent place to stop, whether it's when you arrive, or just before you leave. But only during tourist season.
