It has been my go-to place for years for all your hunting and fishing needs. All my local family are regulars. 2 weeks ago my father in law brought in a reel he bought second hand, for repair. They opened it up on the spot, and fixed it with a simple part....no charge. Class act.

I go out of my way to shop at family-owned outdoor stores (instead of only giving it to the big chains). River Sportsman is no exception there. The staff are fantastic to deal with, the pricing is fair (not always competitive with the bigger chains, but that's understandable), they have a great selection of just about all thing outdoors, and and the location right on the river is pretty cool. 10/10

The store is set up against the river in Campbell River which is beautiful. The location of the store is fairly easy to get to as well. The store is well stocked with a variety of different outdoor items. The down side of the store was the staff. We were the only people in the store at the time and we did not once get asked if we needed help. The staff was also talking about things that are not appropriate for the work place such as parties. They were also swearing back and forth. Not that I mind, but I found it very unprofessional.

I took back a fishing rod that my son had bought at River Sportsman in Campbell River which he used for 10 minutes at the river before hooking a fish and the rod broke! When I explained to the two young sales people there the one just matter of fact said: "that rod isn't covered by warrantly". They didn't even try to help so I left. My question is: "Does the store display or tell their customers that certain fishing rods are not covered by warrantly before they are bought?". Expensive 10 minute fishing experience for my son who has returned Calgary. Not happy with the store response.

I stopped by to pick up a map of all the surrounding logging roads. The fellow who approached me was very helpful. The store is equipped with a wide selection of sporting gear. If you enjoy the outdoors this place has what you probably need. If you want cheap stuff go to Canadian Tire. I asked if I could use the washroom and he pointed to where the key was hanging. The key is linked to a fishing bat...you know one of those clubs you use to kill a fish once inside the boat. First time I thought of using a club in the washroom.

Went to the River Sportsman two separate occasions on our last visit to Campbell River. Both times we were impressed with their selection of products, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return the next time we are in town.

It’s an easy-to-find, smallish shop crammed full with all kinds of camping, fishing and hunting equipment. We went there to look for gas cans to fit our camping stove and let me tell you, we went to about 3-4 other stores (Walmart, Canadian Tire and suchlike), and this was the ONLY place that had them, in all of Campbell River.

I just moved from Saskatchewan and had been recommended by friends from Comox and Campbell River that I had to see this store, well it is true, if you are an outdoor enthusiast you must stop in and have a chat. They have a great selection of firearms, camping and fishing gear. Their prices on a specific lever action Marlin was several hundred dollars less than the same rifle in Saskatchewan! Make sure you stop in and meet the friendly staff. I dealt with Kevin and he was able to advise me about the local hunting and fishing, as well as point me in the direction of a Stanfields wool 'Island Tuxedo'. Thanks again River Sportsman

Customer from early 80's guide days, left town for 32 years, back to town in 2016. Different faces, but same great shop. Great selection, fair pricing and most importantly knowledgable staff that know their stuff and are willing to help all experience levels. I went in looking for advice on rod holders and placement. Recommendation was that my current setup was actually a good one, but that i should replace the scotty holder mounts with the newer heavy duty models so I don't lose a rod. I left with those parts from the back room. No Charge. The main bearded fellow there (didn't get his name) made my day and I will be back for new rods and a prawn trap soon.

I live in Victoria and I’ve Dealt with river sportsman many times they have Helpful staff, Easy online shopping, Great stock on items and at a reasonable price. Very impressed To say the least I’d use these guys over that junk store bass pro any day. Keep doing what your doing I’m happy this rock has a store like this.

I went here to buy a walking stick because my knee was acting up, and I planned to do some hiking. I was served by a polite and helpful young man and chose the perfect collapsible stick for me. This is a large store and I can't imagine needing any outdoor products they could not supply. The co-ordinates for a GPS or map program are: 50.03414 N, 125.27460 W (Decimal), --or-- 50° 2' 2.9" N 125° 16' 28.56" W (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds )

Google post this location as a fishing licences vendors, but they are not . Just waste of time going there, some fight between local vendors and Government about money. Obtain licenses on line before coming to that region.

I got some very much needed rain gear for my hunting trip that I forgot to buy earlier. Saved me a lot of suffering in the bush. Prices were really good. I had a problem with my scope mount as a screw fell off mid hunt. I came in on thanksgiving and they were very helpful in fixing the situation so I could continue my hunt with confidence in my accuracy. Definitely recommend this shop.
