We have the feddbacks of people who are buying the services and products of Qualitown Thrift Store (Costumes) in the territory close to Campbell River (Canada).
To this day this business has a rating of 3.1 stars over 5 and this rating has been based on 44 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is average, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the evaluation is very accurate. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Costumes belongs to the category of Used clothing store.
Asked for a very specific item and although they did not have what I was looking for the employees were very helpful and offered to contact me if they came across it. Each employee I spoke to was kind and personable. Every one star review I have read seems to be either someone who tried to get a refund even though they threw out the receipt, or someone complaining that they weren't instantly trusted not to steal something in an area of town where stores are highly prone to theft.
Good thrift store. They haven't gone the way of the big chains and hiked their prices up. Prices remain classic and the people who work there are friendly. Some great scores can be had for sure. Well organized too, which will make your search easier. I rarely pass it by without popping in. 4 stars! A few months have past and unfortunately prices are creeping up to be more like other bigger places. It's lost a bit of its luster in my opinion... Perhaps 3½ stars at this point. A few more months have past and the price hikes continue.... down to 3 stars from 4 now. Not sure who's in charge of proving, but I'm going way less. It's it just me?
Probably the worst thrift store I've been to both in terms of prices and employees. Been a few times and won't be going back.
Went and found what I needed
It's a good store. Just wish the prices were a little lower. For the clothes at least.
Bought a product with missing pieces last week, refused to give me my money back. Manager is a nightmare, very disrespectful. Tried to tell me how our Canadian taxes work, thats why she couldn't refund me. It said it was in working order, but DID NOT say pieces were missing. Gave me a credit that I did not want. I'm a senior on a budget. Managers name, Caroline
Need new attitudes! Not everyone is a thief! I work retail and never in the 12 plus years have I ever treated someone as distasteful as I was treated today!
Good selection of goods and nicely organized. Prices are ok for most things and the hours are convenient.
The employees are RUDE and due to a 'high theft problem' i found were very accusational and short tempered about me even asking to being let into a change room. They had to call someone to come to the fitting rooms to count my items and then count them on my exit. It honestly made me very uncomfortable while trying to actually shop for things. Then, while i was checking out there was an original price tag on something they put their stores pricetag over, which was a whole other fiasco, involved three enployess trying to decipher the price tag underneath and if it was an old pricetag from whichever store it came from (probably a dollar store) or a coverup done in store. It was an old prictag and the $2.99 pricetag on the item was approved. If you have to count your pennies to this degree and are making all your costumers uncomfortable, maybe yall should just close down. I left very insalted and uncomfortable.ì
Some guys stole my wallet, and when I ran into them later in the day and begged them to at least return the wallet with the ID, keep the cash, etc., one of them told me to go to this thrift store. So I went and asked the guy at checkout (late forties, big guy) if he had it - he just laughed at me and shook his head. Upon leaving the store, a lady who had been leaving checkout when I first asked told me that she saw the guys I described sell the wallet to this guy, and that she would be willing to be a witness should I decide to call the police. The only thrift store I know of that decides to mess with a theft victim. Don't give these crooks your business.
This is one of my favourite stores to shop Incredible selection and the prices are a bargain Staff is helpful and friendly I purchased a curtain last week and a staff member Evelyn altered the size at no charge , she is a newer employee and a seamstress I am told for the time being they offer alterations at no charge Thats a bargain
Good selection hampered by terrible management. Caroline I believe is the name of the manager and/or owner and is incredibly rude and entitled. Sad!
Love this store, great quality bedding I got that should have cost me at least $100 I got for $40 and as a movie addict I love shopping here for my dvd collection! Very well organized and a vast selection for everyone. A must for baby clothes
Found some nice runners, size 13 (hard to find), fit just right, for less than $10. Grateful.
Treasure trove of used goods. However I did not enjoy the experience of shopping at this store at all. Getting into a changing room was more trouble than it should have been. Over all was treated like a nuisance. Employee followed us all around the store and was not as subtle as she thought she was. Going through the till was slow and painful as the employee felt the need to comment and check over every item I purchased. Will not shop here again.
Lots of little treasures . Unfortunately didnt find what I was looking for which was a white sweater
I'm from out of town (Vancouver) and went into Qualitown on a whim... It was a very whimsical and fun experience! Definitely the most organized thrift store I've EVER been in. There was an amazing selection of women's clothing and books there, and I definitely spent more than I should have! Shoutout to the two wonderful ladies who were running the place on Saturday. The line up was crazy long and I definitely didn't help with my huge pile of stuff.. but they were troopers and got the job done quickly and efficiently. I'll definitely tell my friends to come here if they ever end up in CR.
Fantastic service!! Such an assortment of goodies and the staff is so friendly! The young lady, I think her name was Hailey, helped me find everything I was looking for. I'll definitely be back!
No variety dirty clothes and no help when asked
Very impressed that you are opening the store weekly for homeless people. Brilliant and charitable!
Inspect any and all gaming tech you think your getting a good deal on. I lost $25.00 dollars. This situation was resolved fully. Very thankful for the managers assistance and staff. Thank you
I was at their sister store in cumberland (which was only in business for a couple months) and asked where they get their donations. The manager wouldnt tell me and I was interviewing for a job there! Sketchy!
Always something new to find at good prices
i used to love coming to this store until when i came back after the pandemic in july.. i noticed there were new staff members i had never seen before which is fine. but these new staff were not polite like the ones before. i wasnt welcomed into the store like im used to, it was disorganized and clothes were on the floor in the ladies sectoin. i was in the store for half an hour and barely saw any employees until i was ready to leave with a couple of work shirts. and the middle aged lady at the till was not freindly. i waited 5 minutes at the front on a sunday waiting for her and there was another male employee at the front the entire time who acted as if i wasnt there while waiting. when i approached him and told him i was ready, he picked up a phone and loudly smacked it onto the counter which went through the entire speaker system in the store and made an awful crackley sound. my experience at the store was quite uncomfortable and i sadly wont be coming back.
Not a Canadian business...they get all of their clothing from the US...they do take donations though. I'm not impressed because I wanted to get rid of my belongings to a Canadian business and to keep everything in my community to support small business and help with the economy of my community...again I would not donate anything let alone sell anything to these peoples...we're gouged enough by the states and this store is yanky doodle all the way. I contacted this store several times by email...the manager could of at least informed me of how they buy and inform me that they were associated with the states...what a waste of my time and energy.
I have been in here a few times but not anymore! Staff is arrogant and is rude particularly one male employee who gave me and a family member dirty looks and attitude. Felt like we had done something wrong walking out of this store even though I know damn well we didn't! I will not be back!
I agree with the US review , I have a picture of qualitown's original Orin and the status . It read that , the store IS from the United States !! So that speech is a BIG LIE !! , I have proof We are gouged enough from the States ! Saw brand new bra's , couch pillows , etc . Isn't the store called a thrift store? Don't look like one to me ! I asked if items donated manager stated " Some of it is " , what does that mean? Receiving from from the United States. Manager calls people racists! She called me one. Proof ? Check out the response from the owner ! It's mean !
Don't seem to understand what "Thrift Store" means. Donated toys in damaged boxes priced at more than double what they cost brand new, used clothing and shoes priced based on label, not condition, kitchen supplies at as new prices... We've been giving them the benefit of the doubt for over a year, thinking it was just someone on the staff finding their feet but it's just getting worse and worse. On top of that, the staff either ignore you completely or talk to you so long you're forced to just walk away from them while they babble. We are officially over it and not going back. I've walked out without buying anything the last three times we've been there, it's just not worth it for a bunch of DONATED stuff.
black friday is insane... went to many different stores and the employees were frantic and disorganized. i spent 30 minutes in a line at an electronics store in campbell river and the service was terrible. i went to the thrift store and got a christmas tree and ornaments for a wonderful deal. 50% off a tree and it was 15$.... i was very pleased.there was a decent line there, but the line was quick and the ladies working were lovely. the cashier complimented my outfit and both ladies were amazing. the other workers were helpful and smiling. amazing black friday service!!! i will be back looking for christmas sweaters
Thank you for the reply. I did ask to speak to Manager on 2 separate occasions and was told she/he was unavailable.
First and last time shopping here. Firstly we felt we were being watched the whole time. The woman working kept walking by and staring at us like we were stealing. Then the woman approached me with intense aggression. (This person may wish to seek costumer service training) She was upset because I left 3 shirts in the purse section. She said that I would be banned from the store if I ever did this again.... I was interrupted multiple times while she was pointing her finger at me like I was a 3yr old. I finally got the chance to apologize and explained I shouldn't have left the shirts there but that did not suffice. She then continued to make rude comments while I was standing at the cashier with a basket full of 10+ items. We walked out when the woman started to harass my 70 year old mother. I told her that we would not be supporting a bussiness who speaks to their customers so poorly! We were in shock at how unprofessional and angry this person was over something so small even after I apologized. ???? The irony in all of this is that she would have had to put my 10+ items back so she created more work for herself. I hope she had the chance to eat a snickers bar. Very weird interaction.
Qualitown has lots of stuff and it's always fun to go thrifting, ....but I find them a bit expensive.
