I think this is the only Canadian Tire that does not allow you to bring in your dog. This is really the only point of differentiation that would make me choose to shop here over any other box store. As a single pet owner, it can be challenging to go out with your pet, especially on a hot day. Knowing there is a place to go in if we need something while out and about has always been such a selling feature of Canadian tire stores. Very disappointed to be turned away today.

A beautiful bright clean store but terrible service from many of the floor staff. My experiences range from being totally ignored while staff chat between themselves about personal issues in the middle of an aisle to begrudging assistance being offered only to have the staff member disappear never to come back. The front end staff at the tills are 100% fantastic but management could fire half the floor staff and none of the customers would know the difference.

I got an out of province vehicle inspection at this location. I booked it over te phone, I was never quoted a cost, I didnt care because I needed to have it done. I was told it would take 1 hour. That day, 28 minutes into the service I got a call I needed a piece replaced and it would cost be an other $85.00. I said sure, because I needed to get BC that day and they had the time. I was told it would be an other 40 minutes or so. 30 minutes later I got a call, all done. Awesome fast service.. so I thought. I went to pay my bill and it was almost $500.00 showing on the debit machine, I was in shock and just continued the payment. I wasn't shown my bill before paying, I thought because of covid they didnt want to many people touching papers. My mistake. Got to my car and looked at my bill.. I was charged for 2.5 hours of service and I was there for just an hour. On top of that, a bunch of other service charges I was never told about. I was confused and upset so later that day I went back to speak to a manager. No one was in the automotive department, another manager told me she would leave a msg for the automotive manager and that he would get back to me the next morning. I never got a call.. I waited all day and by 4pm I figured I wasnt getting a call so I drove back over to Canadian tire. When I pulled into the parking lot I got a call from Dan, the automotive manager. Apparently, Dan was so busy that day he couldnt have called me and that he was leaving for the day and would call me tomorrow if he could. I heard the msg and quickly ran inside to catch him before leaving. I found Dan and I experienced the worst customer service I've ever witnessed. I explained to him how I was confused about the charges and how I was never told about these extra hourly charges, shop charges etc. Dan told me "I dont believe you. My men would never not quote you those extra charges" I tried to explain I was only ever told about the part piece costing an extra $85.00 which I was all good to pay for but I wasnt told about any other charges. I told him I wasnt even quoted for the orginal inspection over the phone! "I don't believe you" "Im not arguing with you" . So disappointing and I was belittled in front of other customers. He asked me why I didnt question it when I paid . I told him I didnt get my papers till after I paid and that i figured it was because of covid. Dan told me that was my fault and that maybe I should have looked before I paid. And that it was a lesson to be learned. Dan tried to tell me they charge that much an hour because thats how much hi employees make an hour. I know people who have worked there and no, thats not even close to true. I was straight up lied to by their management and tried to be taken advantage of by their staff. Needless to say, I won't be going back.

Although the selection is fine, and people are nice, there is no way to effectively social distance in the store. There are no directional aisles, although the aisles are narrow. The till area is very crowded, meaning you must walk through a big crowd to leave, or stand in a long crowded line to pay. I was very disappointed when I visited recently. A friend and I were on vacation checking out the island when our power steering suddenly died on the highway heading into Buckley on BC Day. As it turned out, our engine mount loosened, serpentine belt blew, and we needed a full retiming of the engine. The day after the stat, not a single mechanic was available within 5 days to help despite there being a dozen in Courtenay. Canadian Tire was available to take us on short notice and went way beyond getting us back on the road that same day, including rubber fitting the worn engine mount into our car so we could get back home without waiting for the part. Big thanks guys - you salvaged our trip!

I like going there late in the day, and they're open until 8. Very few people are there around supper time and later. Less chance of being exposed to Covidiots. ( People that aren't cautious about exposure!) I dropped a brand new 1/2" drive ratchet in 30 feet deep water, while attempting to tighten my outboard motor mount. It is from a 33 piece set that sells for $129.oo! The ratchet alone, to replace is $89.99 ! Makes no logic to me. Just though I'd throw that in. So I'm going without it. Otherwise, Canadian Tire has everything.

Best plant selection ever! I would give 5 stars just for that alone. There are unique and rare plants that aren’t always easy to come by, and it’s so nice living in a small town where they actually give you more choices. Wouldn’t mind some big gorgeous pothos species and philodendrons???? The missing star is for the shortages of other items in household sections, and the Christmas decor was lacking if I’m honest. Not a lot to choose from. The plant selection is by-far the best part of this Canadian tire… thankful for this division.

Took my JDM Subaru here for an inspection in Oct 2021 and found out my car needed a bit of work to be insured in BC. The staff (Ron in particular) were very good about explaining to me what needed to be done (and why!). After a few weeks spent acquiring all the parts I needed from a scrap dealer I brought my car back and they were able to do all the work needed to get the car to pass the inspection. All credit to the Canadian Tire Courtenay team. They were helpful, knowledgeable and patient with me as I had never done this before. Wil be bringing my JDM Subaru back to them for any future service needs as they clearly know what they're doing.

As a mother of twin toddlers, who is forced to carry a large amount of supplies around on a daily basis, in a backpack; this locations unwavering dedication to their asinine "no backpacks" rule is, in my opinion, discriminatory to those of us who choose to cary a backpack. I refuse to leave my backpack with their staff, so thus I also unable to shop at this location. A little understanding and flexibility in regards to individuals life circumstances would go a long way towards creating a positive customer experience in this situation.

Miss the small town homey feel of the old Canadian Tire. Very difficult to return items. I took a coffee pot back the stank so badly of plastic I could not drink the coffee. Their staff was so unhappy that I was returning it. She said she could not resell the item as it had been used and she was not going to let me return it. Well, sell better products. That is why I shop at Costco. Their staff is always cheerful and they have an excellent return policy. If you are not happy with the product you can return it.

Typical Canadian tire stores, I appreciate that, I know where things are. But, I hate that they make it near impossible to exit to the mall from the store's mall exit . If you buy stuff, you can use the registers at the mall exit, but if you just want out, you must wait in line or squeeze through the narrow check out aisle. Actually I guess that is true at front exit, they make it difficult to leave if you dont but anything. If there is a long line, I prefer not to waste time in line and just want to leave.

I took in my car because the check engine light was blinking (it was previously on but when it's blinking that's when you should worry) and they charged me 90$ just to hook it up to the computer and told me it would cost 550$ to fix. Looked at it myself a couple days later and it was a spark plug which is a 4$ fix. They don't know what they're doing they just want as much money as possible. And the worst part is the 550$ "fix" they wanted to do wouldn't have changed a thing.

Canadian Tire isn't just your average hardware store. They stock everything from coffee, to kitchen materials, to dog toys, to drills and car parts! They always have some good deals, and their prices are relatively decent even when they're not on sale. The dog section (that's my favorite section) carries an great amount of dog toys, beds, treats, food, collars and leads. Their cat section is pretty great too, with scratching posts, beds, cat toys, treats, litter boxes and food. Canadian Tire's popular brand for a lot of things (food, garbage bags, mops ect) is Frank's. Frank's chips, Frank's candy, Frank's coffee. It is a pretty decent brand, but not overly high quality. They also carry seasonal items that anyone could enjoy! This Christmas, they had isles and isles of decorations for your tree and home. Canadian Tire is a great place for anyone to shop, even if you aren't looking for hardware.

A true testament of 'doing the best you can with what you're given'. I probably go here once a month? Maybe once per six weeks; I'm a huge fan of the Canadian Tire franchise. I constantly search for deals and they always scratch the itch. I sadly can't buy their gas anymore (I've moved away from the Brandon location) but visit the dauphin (from Ste Rose) as often as feasible. Even during the nonsense of Christmas, staff went out of their way to help me find things, deals were relevant, love the CT money thing, and the staff were all cheerful. Even though the banner out front says hiring FT and PT. I know what short staffed is like, I know what busy season is like; I was a cook for over a decade. To stay that dedicated and pleasant is a massive plus one to their management. The store itself is quite tight, but they don't have alot of sq/ft to show their goods, so I get it. My only negative thing to say, which is probably just an example of what short staffing does, is their hours. They're only open until 6. I live 35 mins away, and I'm off work at 5 at the earliest. I would love to see them open until 8, even just two days a week. Otherwise, hats off to you guys! Truly maximizing on what's available to them. Well done.

As someone just trying to see if they have a 2017 Honda Civic spare tire, including myself and 9 other customers were waiting for a long time. It's hard to pay full price when you know it's probably going to go on sale the next week. Thankfully if this happens, you just bring in your receipt and they will give you back the difference. Or you can wait for it to go on sale. Maintenance side of things are a different story. They seem to over exaggerate things and won't always give you a straight answer.

My partner and I walk everywhere. We used to frequent Canadian tire until the other day when they made a new rule about men wearing backpacks. I say men, because my partner and I were both wearing backpacks and he was asked to leave his at the front and when I asked if I needed to as well they answered no. We both carry our personal belongings such as our keys, wallets, extra bags and inhalers in our packs and I felt very frustrated that a store would make only my boyfriend remove his, but have no issues with ladies extra large purses or my backpack. We both have stopped being Canadian Tire customers and will remain that way. We have buying power and choose to use it where it feels right.

You have to admit Canadian Tire has a huge selection. Nothing to complain about other than the Overseas import smell of products. Their automotive section is great for selection. One thing they could do to improve service to have enough cashiers at the tills. What a surprise!! Just moved from the mainland to here. Let me tell you this location is 10 times better in every way, cleanliness, service, selection, organization, heck even the prices seemed better. I was blown away at how nice it was in there. Like a candy store. My faith has been fully restored in Canadian Tire once again. Dropped some heavy bird in there today, no questions asked. I woulda kept going but the cart got too heavy. I'll be back for the rest soon, that's a guarantee. Do yourself a favour and go to a Canadian tire in Surrey or Vancouver and then come here and you'll know what i'm talking about, night and day.

Apparently you can't return a tool set you've just bought (because the cheap drawer thing it came in was garbage and tools kept falling out of place and jamming the drawers) with a receipt! Interesting... Manger wasn't happy when I raised my voice about "wasting my money" because the tools still worked. I'd have to take it up with the manufacturer. Fair enough If you want to work by the book I guess but I won't be going back there for tools.

We must have visited on an off day- it was a Saturday and very busy. Had to get a car part from the parts desk- only one poor associate working the desk and was busy for quite some time helping the gentleman in front of me find a specific part. Meanwhile, myself and several others stood in line waiting for assistance while two other associates in the auto service department sat and watched. It wasn't until about 10 minutes of standing around that the one associate from the other desk decided to walk over and help. Then went to sporting goods and had to wait around again for another associate to help me get bear spray. Once at the checkout line, we were assisted with one a young woman who obviously was not having a good day- was very short and didn't even give me a chance to scan my Triangle rewards card. Not sure if it's a management issue, a staffing issue, or what- but every Canadian Tire employee we dealt with was not pleasant that day. I get it- customer service is a tough gig- but to have that many people seemingly unhappy at their jobs means that something is going on at that particular store.

Terrible place for customer service. Don't go in here if your in a hurry. They have so many things behind lock and key in the tool section and finding anyone to help you open the cases is near impossible. I went in for 1 socket and was in there for 45 minutes looking for someone to open the case. Is is really nessacaery to lock up the indavidule sockets and not the socket sets?

This new store is way too big - it is massive and for anyone with any disabilities it's overwhelming especially when you also consider there are only TWO (2) parking places for the disabled. Just getting from your vehicle in the massive parking lot to the store is daunting. There needs to be a bin with detailed maps of the store and what is in EACH aisle. Unless these things happen we won't be back which is not good since we use a CT MasterCard and in the past got a lot of things with the Canadian Tire Money we accumulated (retired disabled seniors). We were regular shoppers at the smaller store.

One of the more unprofessional stores I've been in. 2 younger employees dropping f bombs left and right and while I know everyone swears, there's a time and place. Wanted to mention it to a manager and spent 10min waiting so I just left. *Update* spoke to someone at the store and feel like it has been remedied. They had a couple good deals and carried items I couldn't find elsewhere. I wish I didn't need a card or app to get "CT Money" rewards program. Should be able to look it up by phone number, or even tie it to my debit card, or to Google Pay. I feel a little ripped off every time I shop there: penalized with a 5% sanction, for not wanting to carry another card or install an intrusive app. (even though the 'reward' is now actually <½%.) ???? I used to love shopping at Canadian Tire.
