I went to donate clothing today and was very disappointed in their business. they expect you to wait an hour to get a quote on the donated clothing before you know if they will buy them off you or not. They should tell you about this wait time prior to arriving with the clothing. I was also told that my clothing was too old for their target age group. I guess clothing a 29 year old woman buys is considered old. They were very rude to me, thus I will diffidently not be supporting their business again.
The prices paid for higher end items are way to low, i used to deal with a similar store in St Mary's, Sore is well kept though and staff was nice.
The shop is well organized and neat. It’s spacious so you don’t feel overwhelmed and it’s not gloomy. I found them to be organized too.The people are nice here but they don’t take very much. They are a bit overstocked right now. Still will go back later.
Treated very poorly. Dirty store, value village clothes
I love this store! Nice clothing for good prices!
Terribly overpriced and they fire employees for no reason
Cheap and good quality clothes. Friendly staff
Lovely little shop. Awesome stuff! Great prices. So glad I discovered it! I'll be coming back soon.
Cool concept
Very expensive in a lot of areas. Small selection.
Pretty decent, got some cool sunglasses
A store crammed with fast fashion (H&M and Forever 21) and not much of anything else. Similar in price to new clothes during sales. Not well stocked for winter.
Horrdenously ugly, worn out, dated clothing that wouldn't even sell for $1.99 at Value Village. Mostly Urban Planet and Walmart brands. They clearly only buy garbage so don't be offended if they don't take your clothes. I've never sold to them so I'm not bitter. Just disgusted at the quality and selection. Won't be returning
Plenty of cool stuff
Great place! Awesome variety and decent prices. Highly recommend.
Good prices not a lot of selection but decent
Had a terrible experience in the store today. I was very excited to go to this store because it was my first visit but the staff made it so terrible that I am not coming back to this store ever. Firstly, the website hours were 9 pm so I was trying my clothes and one of the staff person came to me at 7:15pm and said “Our store was closed 15 minutes ago” to which I apologized and said I will be fast. During my checkout she was making such weird faces and rolling her eyes and shaking her head. If you cannot serve customers why are you working in customer service? Such poor service and terrible staff.
Its like the patch, but better. Cheap name brand clothes in good conditon. Wish there was more variety but still a very nice place to shop.
Great shoe selection and cute clothes for my daughter who's 20.
Staff - I had to approach to get a changeroom because they were socializing, then the girl said that it wasn't her job and it was supposed to be someone else. She still let me in but very rude. Disappointed with dress selection but that is because no one brought dresses to sell...
Took some clothes in to hopefully make some $$ but they didn't take anything, apparently they only accept clothing geared towards the younger generation lol guess that means im gettin too old ???? lovely staff, big store! Would recommend this place to a younger crowd ????
Plato's Closet Cambridge was such a great place to work in. I had nothing but positive experience working here as a part-time for the last 3 months. All my co-workers were very friendly and accommodating. The work culture here was very positive and supportive. All the staff was eager to help each other with any questions or concerns during their shift. The owner, Dave, was very considerate and mindful and I made some really good friends with the other staff here. Overall, my work experience at Plato's Closet Cambridge was very lovely. I definitely would consider of working here again when the opportunity arises :)
So i brought in items to sell today. And some of the items were very nice shoes, shiny flats, i had dr shols shoes. Sequince heals, flats, some cute tops from sirens, and they passed on everything didnt purchase anything, but the funny thing is the stuff looked in touched in the bag. And i was in the store the whole time , and i watched them and from my point of view they didnt even go through the bag. 15 min later they send us a text your quote is ready. And they passes on everything. They told me we passed on everything cus of wear and tear bunch of lies. I saw a pair of pants on the rack that had wholes in it. I went to kitchener platos closet they took 80% of the stuff. You are the worst. I will tell all my family and friends you are horrible . Ans i went under my husband's last name Ali Shivji. When i tried to sell.
Great selection at a great price. Sometimes a bit hard to understand how it is organized
Selection is not great for guys at this location
Worst experience ever!! We went this place for 3 times. And first time they told me they do not accept any clothes for sale an hour before closing, and the next day I went again, they told me it’s has to be in a box but not a bag. And third time they told me they do not accept any clothes for sale after 2:00pm on any day, we have to call them first to see if we can sale those. It’s the worst experience ever!! I will not recommend anyone to visit this place.
Wife loves it here. Always good deals.
Terrible customer service. Had to find the staff to ask a question, she was on her phone texting and barely looked up. Then asked the other staff member for a change room, she didnt even come over , said if its unlocked go in. They were all locked with no one in them so we sat for 10 minutes when the other girl randomly came over with a key and let my daughter in. Worst customer service I've seen in avery long time. I don't plan to return.
I was in a pinch for a wedding looking for a scarf to match my dress. The owner was so helpful and so nice. Him and his staff pulled out all the scarves from their back room and let me choose the perfect one. So grateful so their A+ customer service after being disappointed at Platoes in Kitchener.
Love this place. Lots of good inventory and very friendly staff. Always find something new there. Never seem to find anything that looks too worn out or in need of repairs. Surprisingly good collection of women’s shoes and boots.
Plato's in Cambridge is one of my favourite locations. It's the cleanest store with the highest quality finds. The staff are accommodating and kind.
Badly organized, sizes are all over the place. Disinterested staff. Prices are good though.
Great selection of clothes at very fair prices, second hand stuff, but some good finds none the less
They usually have a pretty good selection of stuff but they barely buy anything. Today I brought in a huge bag of clothes under brands they look for. Just a few things I brought were perfect nike pro leggings worn once, at least 5 nike shirts, 2 pairs of nike shorts, lots of forever 21 items, hollister jeans and more. They took 6 of my items and gave me back the majority of the perfect clothes, claiming that they "show signs of wear". Yet when I look through the clothing on their racks, 90% of them show signs of wear, are faded, have stains, etc. I bought a nike shirt today with a hole in it which I will sew but I really don't understand this system. Absolutely terrible, next time I am going to the one in Kitchener or Guelph.
Got some nice stuff for my wife there, but very limited selection for men
Sparse variety of items
Best retailer of gently used brand name clothing. Fresh stock daily. Clothing is neatly organized, store is clean and staff are great.
Not the most impressive Plato’s closet if you’ve been to a few of the larger ones. However, it’s still one of the greatest thrift shops in the area for quality and pricing. The selection is limited by the small sections of clothing. It still manages to always have a few gems in the midst of all the rest as inventory is switched out much faster in a small store.
Great selection and friendly staff!
Great prices on quality designer name brand clothing. Excellent size range. My grandaughter loves shopping here and so do I.
Every once in a while I do a review binge on some of my favourite stores, today just so happened to be Platos Cambridge. I've read a bunch of the one star reviews and I must say, I believe they're mistaking this location for the Kitchener location because I experience poor customer service there, and I speak very highly about the Cambridge location to all my friends, family, and coworkers. Never have I ever felt judged or pressured by the ladies working here, new employee or not. All of the employees there are friendly, supportive, and empathetic. Chloe specifically has gone above and beyond for me many different times, in store and online. I've also asked her to surprise me with a few items in my size and she picked out items that I wouldn't normally pick for myself, but I received so many compliments on them and I felt so confident that I completely changed my style. Most of my favourite clothing items are from platos closet. I love a good deal, and it helps me sleep better at night knowing I'm making environmentally friendly choices. While it can be tricky to sell to them, it makes for a better shopping experience for the customers because you know how picky they are about taking clothes in the first place. Platos Cambridge is my favourite retail store, and will continue to be for many years to come.
EVERY time i come in the staff are chatting with each other and don’t even bother to acknowledge my presence the entire time i’m there until i come to the checkout. i get they’re all young and don’t care but come the heck on how are they ALL like that?? hire some better staff.
Obsessed
Awesome store
Somethings way over priced and well worn
Horrible experience at that store. Not pleasant whatsoever, store manager is rude to his employees and and not friendly to the customers. Will not be shopping here ever again.
Great service , I didn't mind waiting for the quote on the donation, I know there busy
Would give one star if possible. Every time I go in, very poor customer service. They always post Instagram sales but never respond when I would like to purchase or see if the item is still available. Went in a few days ago and asked 3 employees about an item I seen online (even shown pictures) and not one of them knew what I was talking about. Not going to waste my time going in again
Awesome customer service, awesome items and awesome prices! The best buy/sell/trade store for teens /adults in Cambridge
Lots of cute clothes, good quality great promo service. Also has online purchasing options which is handy if you dont want to go to the store to shop.
Omg! One of my favourite show to go to for one of a kind items and deals! Great helpful staff & management! ❤️
Nice clothes
Love their deals
It’s such an amazing place to shop. The staff here is really helpful and supportive, I really recommend it to anyone who is looking for cheap and quality material.
Good sized used clothing store with good selection and decent prices
Fantastic concept...very well organized Store...very friendly Staff...if you're a true Toronto Blue Jays fan and you're lucky to meet the owner Dave... maybe...just maybe he will give you a little discount :) Good luck.
An amazing amount of good name clothes cheaper prices than the other Plato’s I’ve ever been to
Ok but picky when it comes to buying your clothes
This is a buy and sell used Clothing Store. Went in to sell several hand bags. Wasn't given very much for them even tho they were not worn...all designer bags and in great condition.
Out of the way but the selection was ok
Kay is the best person I've ever met
My favourite store
I have brought clothes here on a couple of occasions, most recently I brought in a large bag of clothes. An assortment of wilfred, lululemon, anthropology, cos (nwt $100 shirt)Levi’s, and a couple coach purses and Michael Kors. Some items were brand new from aritzia, they literally bought four items for $18 (a nwt black shirt, lululemon sports bra, Wilfred long sleeve dress, and Something else I can’t recall) The store consists of Ardenes, forever21, and other low quality brands. Will not return as it is a waste of time. Would not suggest this location to shoppers or resellers!
The young girls that work there are so into there own conversations if you make a little noise they give you a dirty look. Useless!! They are not helpful they don't ask you if you need anything!! Like you are at work hello!! Worst customer service ever!! This is twice now same girls I will not be back!!
Don’t waste your time bringing clothes here they are cheap and picky!
(Translated) Clothes used for adults, but of dubious quality. (Original) Roupas usadas para adultos , porem com qualidade duvidosa.
Definitely a better experience here than the horrible Kitchener location in terms of selling. Still not the greatest but better! More open, and gives good reasoning which I appreciate. As for the staff (especially in the evening) which is when I come in because I work days, are not customer involved at all. Working on customer service could be a bonus, if they have no buys to sort through they'll just be standing on their phones or gossiping and laughing to each other and if I interrupt to ask for help they shrug and roll their eyes as if i'm disturbing THEM like it's not their job. Usually younger girls so I understand but still.
Not the biggest mens section but thats to be expected. Large womens section, used shoes, purses etc...all food prices. $4-20 for the items.
My least favourite Platos location. I would travel to milton or hamilton if you’re looking for the girls to actually take your clothing. They will pass on never worn clothing solely on date when that style is still in stores. When you question why they didn’t take your items individually theres no answer. The customer service is next to awful, and disappointing. Tried to sell there multiple times, they take barely anything and i go to a different location and they take everything, and its not like its based on “inventory” because thats never a reason why passed. Don’t waste your time.
Always find something fun
This location is terrrrrrrrible. Even when the racks have been empty I’ve watched them turn down tons of current trending brand new items. Also THE STAFF IN THIS STORE IS THE WORST I’ve encountered in any of them. These girls are so unbelievably stuck up and rude and it’s not just an off day. I’ve been in on several occasions where the same girls are there and act like they’re running a kardashian empire. They don’t say hello, they don’t smile, they’re unpleasant, if you ask for help you’re made to feel a nuisance — that is terrible customer service and etiquette for a brand that’s supposed to be representing fine consignment shopping.
This is the worst Plato's closet ever, this staff is so unprofessional it's ridiculous. They're all young teenager that have no idea what they are doing and they're so stuck up it's very unpleasant. I was reading the comments before this and one lady said that they were grumpy and that's right on point. I brought in these items I had, and I went to one previously they said they would offer me 80 then I went to the one in Cambridge they said everything is out dated and they can offer me anything. Guess I'm going back to the original one in branford because they have better business. Such a waste of space this store here in Cambridge. Cambridge Plato closet should really consider hiring people that have customer service skills, and know how to be nice to people. you don't have customer service skills don't Be customer service.
I have nothing but wonderful experiences each time I come into this Plato's location. The staff is always so friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and helpful, both in person and communicating through Instagram. One staff member in particular that has made me want to come back to shop is Bex because she goes out of her way in providing the best customer service and support, so shoutout to Bex!! Thanks for the best shopping experiences and continued hard work!
Awsome fair friendly
Had a mediocre experience here compared to Ottawa's location. A fair amount of cool clothes at good prices. It seems random what they will buy.
Quality used clothes usual every time here find something nice
Bad experience overall. when I walked in there was this weird eggy smell, kinda hesitated and some of the staff looked at me funny, continued anyway. Shopped around for a couple minutes then realized one of the staff was following me around the store keeping an eye on me, I instantly looked right at them and walked out.
Never one to write a review but I would like to warn people and suggest they go to better locations like Guelph, Brantford or Kitchener if they can. I have been to this location to sell clothes multiple times thinking maybe I went on a bad day or something. But no.. each time it is worse and worse. One time, I had my freshly laundered clothes returned to me with pizza sauce on them and the girl working denied it a fresh stain... like the sauce was literally three-dimensional. I went a few days ago and asked the girl working if there was anyone in front of me and she said no. I knew it would be quick so I waited in my car and watched them barely sort through my bins missing several Artizia items that I purchased within the last year. Instead, they took my cheap fast fashion Shein items. She told me "denim" was out of style. And I said "what kind of denim" and she said all denim??? I used to work at Plato's for over two years and I know this should not be how this place operates. A waste of time going to this location. I have been disappointed several times to the point where I thought writing a review was necessary.
Poor sel xtion of men's clothing
Staff is friendly
Avoid this place if you can! Sell to the Kitchener location :). Had all kinds of brand new American eagle items (with tags) that weren't even taken. And yet there's so many items on their racks that are terribly worn. I had one box they definitely didn't even look through as everything was still neatly folded the way I had brought it in (the bin they did go through was completely ransacked). Terrible experience, will definitely never return! Editing to reply to owner: items were purchased last season and are new with tags so maybe you should look at how you train your team. And if it makes zero business sense to buy things that are worn I'm not sure why your racks are full of them. Based on your responses to people that give bad reviews I don't think you actually have any "business sense" and I can see why there is such terrible customer service at the store! Head to Kitchener location people!
Good collection
Went to this store a few weeks ago, right after school started. I went in at 7:45 with a bin of clothing and the girl told me that they stop accepting clothes after 8 pm... I showed her my phone that said 7:46 and she shrugged at me and walked away. I stood there and waited for someone else and another girl took it and said they'll text me when they're done. Nobody else in the store so I go to other stores around there and come back at 8:30 wondering why they hadn't texted me. I get back and they said they are taking NONE of my items. I don't even believe they looked through it because I fold my clothes a certain way and everything was laid out exactly how I put it before. This store is so unprofessional, a waste of time and run by grumpy teenagers. I had a brand new kate spade wristlet, 2 new aritzia shirts with tags, and also a pair of lululemon leggings with tags. Every time I go to Plato's I get at least $80 so it's not like my clothes are ugly. After this, I took the same exact bin to the Kitchener Plato's and got $150!! Your loss, Cambridge.
First time using this location, and I would never use it again. I will stick to the kitchener or Guelph location. I see it’s common of them from reading the reviews that they like to use the term ‘out dated style’ funny as all the clothes that I brought in have been purchased within the last year from brand name clothing stores all in excellent condition. Some even had tags on them still. Many men dress shirts with brands such as Michael kors, Calvin Klein. Yet you said you’re in high demand for men’s clothing. Kitchener and Guelph locations have always accepted everything I’ve brought and I will stick to those locations. It’s unfortunate as the ladies who work there appear friendly when I’ve been there but they’re label everyone’s clothings as outdated is ridiculous.
Clean, lot's of variety and everyone here is so friendly. My first place I need to go when I go shopping!
Brigit deserves a raise
There are some decent items in small sizes. Prepare to dig and have the time to do so.
Love these stores if you hit the right day you can score some great finds
Awesome Store! Staff was very polite. Love that store. ✌
For a place that buys and sells used clothes they have such a picky way of doing it. Its USED CLOTHING yet every time I bring my clothes in I hear the same stupid reasoning, that you can tell that they have been worn? yes because I don't just buy clothes and then sell them right away?
I think half of my closet is from Plato's Closet now. Great selection and pretty great prices.
If I could give this place a 0 stars I would. New to the area and was super excited to check this store out.. brought in a small bag of VERY gently used items, a brand new purse never used, brand new jeans, blouse, sweater top, summer flowy top. As soon as I entered, some staff with purple hair could barely acknowledge my existance. She could barely move out of the doorway to allow me to come in. She was just looking at the clothes on the rack in front of the door. I stood awkwardly waiting at the counter for her to come around and explain how their trade in works. I explained I was going to go look around the store while I waited. My phone beeped and approached the front desk. She was off in the front corner of the store folding clothes, in clear view of me waiting. I waited at the desk for a solid 5min before saying, "hey, I got the text to come back!". She barely looked at me and finally came over, and looked at the items I had in my hands and said "you need to try those on?". I replied with, "oh, yeah in a little bit. I just wanted to see my trade in items". She replied with, "just come back when you're done". So off I went; continued to look through the store.. asked to try items on. Same staff looked me up and down, and did not say 2 words to me and opened a change room and walked away. As I exited I had no idea where to put the items I didn't care for. I looked around and she was busy staring at her phone. So I Put. The. Items. Back. Myself. When I approached the counter, the purple haired girl didn't say a single word to me. A blonde, second staff approached me and explained that my trade in items were "a pass", and that they "only accept the most current styles of clothing within the last year or two". She also had to be rude enough to explain that "I should know this rule next time I try to trade items in". Seriously, if I could post a pic of the clothes I brought in they were 100% comparable to what the store was selling. These ladies working here this past weekend lacked class, care, or any decent manners or social skills. You lost a customer. Won't be returning.
