I walked in confused but with a mission in mind - used Lego. I was briefed by my kids what to look for. Quizzed briefly. Then I headed out. The staff read me like an Archie comic and quickly helped me to my desired prize. Success!!

I just got back home from bringing in a ton of clothing in, all in excellent condition, a lot of the items STILL HAD TAGS on, brand new but the one that went through my things claimed she didnt see anything that had tags or looked brand new and i know that was not the truth. The girl showed me what they wanted to buy, probably six things out of a huge box full, a bag full and an even bigger bag full for 11.00. then she insisted that i donate, the rest of the items to the store. This was not my first time there, i used to shop there often before the store had moved to a larger location. So, My over-all experience doesn't deserve any more than a single star rating, and that star is definitely not for the "friendly staff" but for the once in a while good price on something good quality. For the most part, I see peeled/torn stickers on marker covered toys, missing attachments for a ridiculous price scarily close to what you could buy a brand new one almost identical for. This store is rapidly changing into something I had feared it turning into.

Not only was there like 8 dirty tim hortons cups laying on the shelf behind the cash which was disgusting and DIRTY the manager and another employee were literally talking about me and i could hear them and when i called them out on it they didnt just own up to and apologize like women, no they whined like the 18 year olds they are. The one did listen to me when i told her to clean up the dirty cups tho. I dont complain alot but this experience was disgusting. Dont go here unless u want to leave feeling dirty and have the manager run her mouth about u for asking for a bin that was put behind the counter.

How does this place have 4 stars???? I don't know why I have continually given them a second chance every year but I can guarantee that after today's experience I will never be back and I will ensure that my friends and family know to avoid them. I now see why Sharing Squirrel has done so much better (rightfully so) as their clothes and used items are not only much better quality, but the Management and owner are just all-around more pleasant. They also won't label their items incorrectly (like having a 6-9M tag on a 0-3M item) or accidentally leave the original store's tag on an item where they've jacked the price 3x higher and then insult you and refuse to lower THEIR price when you confront them. Trust me when I tell you to avoid this place and go to Sharing Squirrel.

We almost always have luck with Once Upon a Child. If you have a chance to go without your little one and actually take your time to look, you will probably find essentially brand new things at used prices. Lots of selection from shoes to toys to clothing. Go here before buying new!

Great if you go right when the open on the first day that they have a sale- this way you get one of the 5 shopping carts in the entire store. However, be warned that the aisles are very narrow and the store often feels like it's closing in on you. Pair my last sentance with an army of parents and kids looking for a deal and it is a bit of a nightmare for anyone who is easily triggered with anxiety. Biggest tip -Look at every item you're interested in closely. I've come home several times to kick myself for buying clothes with stains, holes, or rips I didn't notice in the store (and I look!)... at the end of the day, if you're looking for inexpensive clothes, you've got it here. I find regular price, however, for a consignment store sometimes more expensive as what you could buy new. That been said, if you bring your own bags, shop during the 90% off sale, or their "stuff a bag for $10" sale, and follow my tips than I think you can easily and affordably clothe your kids at least until they start school

I was incredibly shocked at my experience at Once Upon A Child tonight. The last time I went in, it was the same and I said to myself “maybe it was just a bad time”. I gave it quite a while, and because my son needs some pants for fall, I tried again. Today was the last time. The entire 5T boys pants section is disgusting. With he exception to some pairs of jeans (my son will not wear jeans to school, and I don’t blame him), every pair of track pants I picked up were worn out, or stained or had bleach or grease marks on them. And every single pair, regardless of their condition- $8-10 each. I’m sorry, but I can not justify spending $10 on a pair of stained washed out track pants. I was appalled and walked out empty handed. I then went to Walmart, and got the same pairs of track pants, brand new for $7 each. I couldn’t believe it. Numerous times when my son was younger, I would bring stuff in for them to buy. Brand new stuff he had never worn because he grew so fast and they would never accept it. Yet, they somehow purchase such used and disgusting articles of clothing and sell them for ridiculous amounts of money?! I used to love coming here when they were at their old location, sadly it seems growing bigger didn’t help their business grow at all. Quite a few of my mom-friends have had the same or worse experiences as me there and I’ve had enough. I don’t know how they can run a business off such poor quality items. It’s just very run down and very disappointing. It’s unfortunate that parents don’t have many options when it comes to buying used clothing for children at an affordable price but still in good enough condition to make it worth it. I guess I’ll be purchasing new from now on...

Selection of clothing is okay at times. However, the customer service there is terrible! Every time I am in the store and leave the store I'm accused of stealing and publicly embarrassed. Meanwhile Every time I'm in the store i spend $100 or more. Even today... after paying paying for my items I left the store just like any other person. I get outside and am waiting for my can when all of a sudden an associate comes running out of the store making a scene and said that the detectors beeped when I went through. They didn't. So she took my bag and put it through and it didnt go off. Then she asked me to walk through as well as push my stroller and daughter through and it never beeped. Instead of apologizing for the inconvienience, She just stares at me dumbfounded and is determined that I must have stolen something. I raised my voice and explained that I am sick n tired of being accused of theft every time I visit the store. The detector never went off once!!!! I am not a thief!!!!!! I am appalled and embarrassed and outraged with the staff there!

I've been going to OUAC since my daughter was a newborn and i always loved the deals that they had. But now that my daughter is 2... I find that im better off just going to the mall and buying her clothes that are brand new because there isn't really much of a price difference. As for selling Clothes there... It is definitely not worth it. I went in with a Brand new pair of leather boots from the Australian not company (originally costs 250.00); a brand new pair of running shoes (tags still on them) and a pair of leather cowboy boots (tags still on and worth 60.00) and all they offered me was 6.00 - don't bother wasting your time.

I am very disappointed with this location's approach to covid-19. I went into this store last week and the employee behind the counter's mask was not covering her nose. I asked her to pull it up to cover her nose before ringing in my items and she replied "Well I'm the manager." I decided not to push it further, but I was really upset when I went to pay and there was no tap on the debit machine. I asked if they sanitized and wiped the machines down after every use and she rolled her eyes and said "Oh, you require it to be cleaned?" and said she didn't have any cleaning supplies nearby. I ended up walking away without any of my items. I felt unsafe, especially considering this location posts on Instagram and boasts that they provide a clean, safe shopping environment.

Pros: this store is huge and has a great selection. They're picky about what they accept for consignment, so items are generally in good condition. They have designated places for specific needs, like dance clothes, soccer cleats, etc. Frequent sales and seasonal clearance help to offset the cost. Cons: Cost. Items here are significantly more expensive than other secondhand stores. Occasionally you'll find an item that was consigned with tags still attached, and their price is higher than the original new cost. Seasonality. They carry no out of season stock in store. If your kid needs a swimsuit in December, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Honestly feel ripped off everytime me and my wife go in to trade or sell anything, they lowball like crazy, you pay 80 to 90$ for a toy and they give you 7 to 12$ dollars, plus always find any reason to not buy things, last time they must of saw us smoking outside of are car and said they wouldint buy any of are baby clothes because they asumed we smoked in the car with the clothes witch make ls no sense because i have 2 kids hense why we smoke outside the car... just saying unprofessional in my opinion.

I wanna say this is a great store to buy things for your children and babies, lots of great discounts. But as for employment their I wouldn't. I was terminated 2 days ago because I had to miss two shifts cause of severe pain, which cause me to be in the hospital. The day before my shift I looked at the schedule and my shifts were all gone. No email, call or text to tell me I was terminated. I had to email them to ask if I was terminated or hat was going on! This has put me in the gutter and I'm really disappointed in this store, I thought they were a family friendly store and would understand missing a shift due to being in the hospital. After this experience I wouldn't recommend this store to my friends and family. I will recommend the Kitchener store.

Brought in a box of clothes, they picked one outfit off the top of the box gave me $2 and sold it for $10. The store is too crowded with clothes to even get a stroller through the aisles. Definitely finding another place to buy clothes for my son.

I really question my sanity every time I attempt to sell or purchase children's clothing from this place. Please trust me, fellow mamas, when i tell you: THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF. 1) When selling your clothes, they will reject most of it if not all of it, and offer to "dispose of" or "donate" it on your behalf. But they are not honest as they do not "donate" or "dispose" of items. They will count on you handing them your items for free and then turn around and put your donated items on their racks with a price tag to sell it and profit from your loss. I've brought in things to sell in brand new, or excellent used condition on many occasions that were not accepted because of "wear", which baffles me because the quality of the majority of the clothes they sell I would say is poor to medium in terms of wear, and only every few of their items is in newer condition. Based on their usual stock of inventory, this place should not be as picky as they are when purchasing, which highlights the inconsistency between what they buy vs what they sell. Their inventory is so big that they likely don't really need to buy anything, so it makes sense that they wouldnt want to pay for it. 2) the items they sell are so unreasonably priced. I scanned through boys' jogging pants, and worn, lint filled joggers were selling between 7-10 dollars. Moms, you can head to Old Navy where they always have clearance items and get brand new, un-worn pants for children on clearance for less than $10, or try the Sharing Squirrel where they have far better quality clothing for the same price or less! This unfair pricing for poor quality is consistent throughout the store. 3) if they buy your items at all, the buying is inconsistent. I'm not sure exactly what the criteria is when purchasing from a seller, but it is often dependent on who is going through them, which is unfair. I've brought a lot of these issues up a few times to whichever employee is assisting me at the cash and they can never give me a straight or clear answer as to why i just scanned through lots of really worn clothing yet they will not purchase my new or practically new clothing. It's not based on season, because I've made sure to ask this question and they have confirmed that they accept all seasons of clothing year round. 4) the scent that they spray on their clothing further confirms my statement that the clothes they put out to sell are old and worn. You are only masking the negative with that very strong fragrance you spray on all your items. If you've made it this far, then allow me to offer this piece of advice: Once Upon a Child's business practices are dishonest and unprofessional, and solely in the best interest of their pockets and not their customers. If you must sell your items, there are plenty of moms on the local facebook moms' group that are looking for baby clothes, or there is the Sharing Squirrel which is very picky on what they purchase and their inventory is smaller, but at least you know that their inventory is in impeccable condition and they also offer the option of a store credit which is always a little more than what they pay out in cash, which i think is a great option. Or do a great thing and actually donate your stuff! Call Cerebral Palsy association and they can come and pick up your things at your door and they sell to Value Village by the pound and the money goes towards a good cause, or donate your clothes to a mama in need! Just do yourself a favour and avoid Once Upon a Child at all costs!

Great sales and prices. Friendly and helpful staff. Takes awhile to get appraised clothing and low payout but a good way to get some cash for clothes that would otherwise be donated. Some aisles are blocked with clothes or toys, especially the toy aisle and is difficult to navigate with a stoller, it would be helpful for staff to circulate the store a couple of times an hour to clear aisles.

Went on a Saturday and it was a nightmare. There is so much stuff in the store it is almost impossible to navigate around with our stroller, forget about going down aisles that have other people in them. The toy area was full of unsupervised children who were pulling out all the toys and leaving them all over the floor. We never even made it to the section of clothes that are my daughters size because it was totally ridiculous. We did get a Halloween costume for a good price, but it was hard to find one as they were spread out all over the store, different sizes mixed in together and most of them weren't labelled by size. We will not be returning. Take your patience if you go.

Brought my boy in to sell a number of toys. Offered basically nothing for two brand new remote cars never opened or used. Among other toys that were barely played with. Selling clothes is great to them, for the most part, but don't suggest selling children's toys and even popular ones to them.

I love to purchase at OUAC but the selling process is maddening. I brought a small box of stuff in today and had to wait forever while two employees casually went through stuff people brought in, no wind in their sails even though people were clearly waiting. They only got a move on it when the manager arrived on the scene, otherwise they were just chatting. It is hard to wait a long time when you have a little one with you, because well they get impatient! After all the waiting I got $1.30 haha! Such a waste of time..they need to be quicker. Otherwise love finding good deals here.

I always find what I need here. They have an amazing selection and racks and racks of clothes to look through. Definitely worth the trip!

I found the store reasonable to buy things. Lots of inventory. Some of the negative comments seem to be more from emotionally driven Karens. I am not expecting the royal treatment like a day at the spa. I expect to get some good deals so if there is any lack of customer service, it doesn't bother me.

Just had the BEST customer service experience at Once Upon a Child in Cambridge!!!! The staff went out of their way to ensure I was satisfied and didn't let me leave until I had found the most perfect dress for my daughter to wear as a flower girl. The gentleman behind the counter even went as far as to take my colour swatches and check for a match with some dresses that had just come in. I will continue to visit this store often and recommend it to all.

I’m watching the lady’s who work here just stand around and talk while I wait with my one year old in the car. It’s very stressful to sit and wait for over an hour even then to not have my items even touched. They should make you make an appointment so they can’t have to wait so long. They are nice lady’s just doesn’t seem like they do there job. Also they give you back most of your items after so it’s not really worth it even though half my items had tags on them. Update: I ended up waiting 2 and a half hour for them to give me 32$ and tried to give me 10$ for a snowsuit that’s never been worn and cost me $130. Definitely not worth the time better off selling it on Facebook.

Tryed to donate many used baby items and they wouldnt take them so we had to throw it all in the garbage. Never knew it was so hard to give away items that cost so much. Last time I will be being them anything, I'll save my time and just throw out everything as they made it clear they dont want donations or to help people so why should I.

I have been an employee at Once upon a child for over a year and I can truly say that the store is a very unique and succesfull place to work. The staff are trained to preform with the higestest level of customer service. Its our job as a staff to make the customers experience in the store exceed that of any other retail setting. If you chose to sell to us you will recive quality service that is fast, friendly and efficient. If you come to shop, you will see a vast inventory with incredible selection at amazing prices. We have annual sales where I have cashed out customers and they have saved litterally hundreds of dollars! If you want an amazing kids store with a friendly, stress free enviroment, this is the place to go.

I went into OUAC last weekend to purchase 2 pairs of shoes for my toddler. I recently had a second baby and she is really tiny so I also ended up purchasing a newborn dress and newborn sweater to hopefully use for our upcoming family photos. Unfortunately the dress was way too big so I decided to return it. Well they refused to process the return as the girl who checked me out scanned something wrong and they told me I never actually bought the dress. While I do agree that it doesn't specify 'dress' on the receipt, it does have 'NB' and a price that I paid. (The price did not match the tag) I told them they could refund me the price I paid and not the tag price. They repeated that I didn't pay for the dress so I couldn't return it. I left...with my 'stolen' merchandise, my receipt and the paper with a ton of my personal information that they ask you to fill out to process the return. I won't be back. Unfortunately customer service makes or breaks it for me....and this broke it.

I've brought in a brand new play pen that I've paid about 80 for and they sold it to me for 20, said they were gonna sell it for more than what they bought it off me for. Today I tried bringing in a car track my son no longer plays with and they turned me down because it didn't have the car with it.

You can find great items if you dig really deep. I found lots of hoodies for my son all under $6.00 which is very reasonable! Some items are pricey and similar to buying brand new... but I just skip those items and find the better deals which actually do exist here. My son outgrows his clothes really fast so the more money I can save, the better.

Store is big and organized. I’m lucky I’m tall enough to reach the racks though. Their prices are outrageous!! $5 for a carters tshirt which are always $5 brand new at carters! They even had items brand new with tags and selling them for more than the original price. This infuriates me so much. A customer was in selling a big tote of nice clothes was offered only $22 and some change. I get it they need to make money, that’s what they’re in business for but this is disgusting!

Use to love this place. Prices have gone WAY up. For instance a pair of Walmart toddler jeans were brand new, still had the tag for 7$ And once apon a child was charging 9$ . I asked the lady at the front desk and she said she couldn’t match the price because they were having a sale “soon” . This is just one of many things.

Love this location of once upon a child - it's very large and has an amazing selection of toys at great prices. The store owner is amazing and goes out of his way to help track down toys that have been separated and played with. Oh and also the cleanest location ever - doesn't feel remotely like a second hand store.

Today I took 1 snow suit, 30 + sleeveless onesies, 7 full length onesies, 5 pairs of jeans, 5 sweater/pant outfits and 2 pairs of shoes. Items were in excellent condition if not brand new and never used. 50 items in total. They offered me $21!!!!!!!! I laughed out loud and said I'd rather donate to someone else in that case. That's less than 50c an item. For the amount of money this organization pays out, you might as well help a struggling family and donate. Will never go to this store again and have told all my mommy friends.

I Love this store, all the employees will go above and beyond to help with anything you need, the store is super clean, they have always clean bathrooms, a private room for breastfeed your baby, with a comfy chair, a change table to change your baby, the store is organize at all times, and their prices on clothing to toys and other, are Awesome! I strongly suggest to go and do your shopping for your kids at this location, I been customer since 2011 and never been disappointed, with purchasing or retuning my items :) I can go on and on, on why I love so much this store.... thanks for been a pleasant place to be shopping with my kids :)

Wow.....a huge selection. Clothes, shoes, toys, strollers, outdoor toys, books and more. Free parking, wheelchair accessible and public bathroom. Prices are competitive and they have a reward system. Take in your gently used clothes etc and they may buy some or all of it. They have clearance and sale days.

When selling clothes here watch out they take clothes when your noy in front paying attention to them. I stepped out to return the bag they did not want when i came back the pile they wanted to buy was half gone and they even had the audacity to leave one of my shirts on the ground as the lady was bent over underneath the counter reachin in the bag longer than a minute doing who knows what. Very shady buisness. If you have no where to go just donate them or if must come here keep an eye on them. Such low ppl stealing at a buisness no integrity. I guess i got to give credit where its due the 20 to 30 items they took i got 41 dollars not bad at all but pretty good.

I enjoy this location but in my recent visits of selling items can say I am far from impressed. I brought my clean folded items in a nicely packed bin and when the staff was finished with it they only dug through looking for what they want nothing was folded back the way it was brought in. I don't appreciate taking my time to fold items and not have them returned in the same manor.

Just wanted to leave a review on the positive shopping experience I had at this location. I traveled to Cambridge from Ottawa to visit some family over the long weekend. I was asked by my sister in law and some friends to pick up some items for them since i was in area. It was a very stressful shopping experience to say the least as i was with my 5 year and 16 month old. This lady who i believe is the owner? i am not sure who she was but she made sure to help me out as i had an extensive shopping list. She offered to switch out my carts when they got full, offered to look for some items on my list and even took my phone to charge when my battery died on me. At the end of the two hour shopping trip, they were so nice enough to walk with me to my car with all my items. Needless to say i was very impressed and those gestures made all the difference while i was shopping! Will definitely come back when i am in the area :) Thanks again!
