I had such a wonderful experience at Pure Magnolia, making my wedding-look dreams a reality! I brought in a pretty basic dress with a full layered skirt and plain bodice that needed alterations (taken in and hemmed), and Vianney and her team were so helpful in explaining what they could do and how in order to alter the dress. I also purchased a Poppy Crop Top from their bridal line to go over the dress, with some custom elements. From my first visit to my last fitting they were so accommodating of all my questions and requests and made my dress and topper exactly as I hoped. They were always prompt and attentive communicating via email or phone as well. There were no surprises when it came to quoted cost and end result, and I thought their rates for alterations were especially reasonable. I felt they really went above and beyond at my last fitting, when the bodice and topper both needed a small alteration and they offered to do it on the spot so that I didn't have to come all the way back. On my wedding day I felt so beautiful and it was in large part thanks to their talent and care in creating my look, both the dress alterations and the top turned out even better than I imagined.

Patty and Rosie made my dress dreams come true. I had tried on dresses at a huge number of stores, and hadn't found anything that really worked with my body type. I was feeling quite discouraged. But within 5 minutes of walking in, Patty had me a dress that I felt great in. I would have gone with the first thing I tried on, but she encouraged me to try on different options, and I ended up going with something I never would have envisioned, on her recommendation. Besides more traditional gowns, they have a fantastic selection of separates so you can mix and match to create your ideal look.This is an idea solution for those of us who are a different size on the top and bottom. Most importantly, no one was pushy, no one tried to push me into buying a gown, or up sell me. In fact, they were happy to let me try on samples, even tried to find me a top that was on sale! I also love the fact that everything is designed and made right there in their studio in North Van. That means everything is unique, and they can tweak or change your gown to suit your vision. Throughout the whole process, service was fantastic. These ladies custom make the dress to your exact measurements, as opposed to ordering in the closest size and then making you pay for alterations. The cost of the dress included 5 fittings and any alterations needed. I'm grateful for this, as I had to have the top and skirt taken in twice due to weight loss. I also managed to tear the top layer of tulle trying the dress on at home, and they mended it for me free of charge. Rosie helped me at the majority of my fittings, and she is absolutely the sweetest. It's kind of like hanging out with your sister. She was able to make some fantastic suggestions on accessorizing, which was really helpful, as I'm hopeless at such things. I had a great experience and loved my gown. It was so well made, and extremely comfortable. I can't recommend this shop enough!

I really don’t want to give this negative review. I want to give 5 stars and tell you how beautiful and amazing the dress was and for the most part that was true but...like a previous reviewer we had a very negative experience with one of Pure Magnolias custom design. The bodice was not fit properly and despite our efforts to express that this needed to be corrected they could not seem to fix it. So the wedding day came and when the bride dressed the stress on the rear closures was immediately noticeable (there will be no beautiful back of the bride photos). One of the closures broke by the reception and the next one was barely hanging on, the bride saying she was nervous the whole thing would bust open. Anna did respond to my initial feedback and admitted they could have done a bit more to make the stress on the closure less noticeable but honestly...when you’re paying for a wedding dress...the fit should be perfect. I was really excited about this little business—Anna and Patty were lovely, the dress design was exactly what our daughter was looking for and the ethics of sustainable materials really appealed to us. Unfortunately, the end result was noticeably imperfect and to be honest, pretty embarrassing. Hindsight is 20/20: if you choose a custom fit from Pure Magnolia—be firm and relentless in the fittings. We trusted them to make the corrections with gentle prods and we should have been more firm:

My wife loved her dress(es)! Our wedding included a 5 hour hike to glacial lakes where both of us wore the full formal wedding attire (bless my wife she's a trooper). Patty and her team understood our unique request and were able to come up with a custome dress that not only looked amazing, was durable, and was also practical (comfortable) for the mountainous terrain. The second dress for the afternoon ceremony was also gorgeous. Highly recommended.

After raising concerns several times about the straps on my dress and being told there was nothing they could do, one strap broke half way through my wedding reception and the other stretched so badly that it didn't stay up. The pre-made dresses may be a nice option but I wouldn't trust the shop's expertise for a custom design. I have asked for the flaw to be corrected and the shop has still not agreed to fix it. I went in with a concept and they lacked the expertise to design/execute the dress in a functional way, e.g. the open lace back pictured (puckering) vs the inspiration (left).
