I was sorely disappointed in the service and behaviour of the Claire's staff at this location. I went in this previous Friday to get a second lobe piercing; the piercer named Brittany seemed great. She dotted, checked, and asked my about the placement. Since my original piercing had nothing in them the second hole placement seemed fine. She was quick and clean but that night I soon realized that the spacing was completely off. The left ear's piercing was sitting like a third hole placement and too far from my original hole, whereas the right side was the perfect space. I couldn't go in that weekend but called and spoke with my piercer who acted like she didn't remember be and proceeded to blame me for the mistake since I didn't "check properly". She told me her manager would be in on Monday and I could see her then regarding a refund. I went in today (Monday) and met the most awful human being, Mary. She didn't smile or welcome me. When I proceeded to tell her what happened she just gave my a blank stare and asked if I wanted a repiercing WITHOUT even looking at what had gone wrong. Thank god I did my research and knew a new hole would cause tearing. I proceeded to tell her this and she then said "so what? You want a refund now?" to which I said yes. She then told me to TAKE OUT THE PIERCINGS AND HAND THEM TO HER in the middle of the store!! I was shocked not only was that completely unsanitary/disgusting but extremely painful; what could she do with them anyway, she can't reuse them! When I asked if she would be needing anything else she also wanted that bottle of piercing cleaner which I had left at home in the garbage since it had leaked all it contents in my bag on Friday as Brittany didn't screw the cap on tightly. I told her the bottle all had nothing left and was sitting in a garbage but she still wanted me to go home and get it! Saying she can't do any refund unless she had it!! Offended and hurt I left the store pretending to go home to get the cleaner and instead got in contact with her area manager, Tanya, who apologized profusely and guaranteed a full refund without having to return a thing. I returned to the store and Mary proceeded to treat me terribly and I received no apology, the first words out of her mouth being "so you thought I was harassing you?" I told her yes and listed why to which she ignored me. Then to top it all off instead of a refund she charged me again for the piercing so I had to wait while she figured out a double refund. Only then did she become nice, saying she was flustered and all that. Like I was going to fall for that BS. In the end I got all my money back and left without another word!! Do not go here to get pierced because if they make a mistake it is hell to get them to fix it. Oh and Mary if you ever see this, you messed with the wrong girl ;)

My friend Colin came in to get his ears pierced. One person was working on staff, Alicia, and she was INCREDIBLE!! The store was crazy busy and she normally doesn’t do piercings so close to 7pm, but she did it after dealing with another customer requesting a piercing as well!! She was absolutely amazing and SO SO sweet!! Would definitely recommend asking for Alicia if you do!! Would give 10 stars if I could!!

Elyse (sp) was absolutely lovely to deal with and did a terrific job with my daughter's ear piercing. Claire's loses 3 stars because the manager very nearly derailed our piercing experience with rudeness and misinformation. I called Claire's on Dec. 29 to inquire about the rules, given that my partially vaccinated daughter wanted to get her ears pierced on her 10th birthday. Based on the information I was given, I made an appointment for the following day. When we arrived on Dec. 30, the manager treated us rudely and didn't want to pierce my daughter's ears because she had only received one dose of COVID vaccine - even though I was told the day before that she was in fact eligible for piercing because I had received 2 doses and no 5-11-year-olds in Canada were yet eligible for 2 doses. In spite of the info we were given on the phone the previous day, when we arrived, the manager was very rude and basically didn't want to do the piercing, so we left the store. My daughter was clearly very disappointed because based on info I had received from Claire's the day before, we fully expectred that she was going to have her ears pierced that day. For her sake, I returned to the store and approached a different staff member, Elyse, to explain the situation. Elyse was wonderful. She was very clear and professional in communicating with me, and she was very kind to my daughter, who was nervous about her first piercing. Elyse did a great job with the piercing, and my daughter was happy in the end. Elyse salvaged what would have been an unnecessarily bad experience with the Claire's manager, who unfortunately is a very poor communicator.

Horrible customer service I went in today and spoke to the rep about getting an earring for my 1year old. Before the transaction I had explained to her about my daughter loosing her earrings on two different occasion. I chose one and made payment, she gave it to me and then I said I wasn't comfortable with the earring hook and she immediately said I wouldn't get a refund because she already took it out of the box(this was the minute I made payment). Honestly the lady that attended to me at the Guelph store acted very mean and her body language was off.I had not left the till and she said no. This is very bad service and I have just wasted $72!!!! Poor Customer service!

I’ve been working in the service business for 13 years and never been sooooo disappointed in a manager like the manager at Claire’s. It’s just unbelievable how could they hire such a rude manager. I went with my daughter and the manager just didn’t seem to care at all about what we want or to help us. I rather go to the dollar store and get nothing lol than go to that store and see the manager again

Very disappointed with the current rude manager, store is hard to navigate through and looks unorganized. Employees/Manager would rather unpack boxes then to actually do their job and give assistance even after they look directly at you. They will not receive any of our business in the near future.

Do not pierce your ears here! They will promise you a smooth experience and mess up your ears completely. I bought the most expensive earrings just to ensure that there would be no issues, but was still unable to remove them. I had to go to the doctor where I was told the earring backs that were sold to me were faulty. So I paid upwards of $140 for faulty earrings and when I went to the store, they were of no help to me. If I could give zero stars, I would.
