I have been looking for a nice pair of gold earrings, and chose to try Bateman Jewellers. Why? Because I know very little about the purchasing fine jewellery and wanted to buy from someone I knew I could trust. This jewellery store has been owned by the family for years and is a Saskatoon household name. The next time I go in, I'll have Cameron help me go through my mothers jewellery and let me know what the value is, as well as some suggestions with regards to having a custom made necklace and earring set created in her memory.

She was friendly, professional and patient with my "I have no idea" moments of being overwhelmed. Amanda asked thoughtful questions about lifestyle and taste. She answered questions in a way that demonstrated her deep knowledge of diamonds, materials, settings, cuts - all things rings - in a way that made it easy to understand and reach a decision. Amanda spent a few afternoons with us as we finalized a custom piece. Walked in at 10 am on a Saturday morning to have my medical alert bracelet repaired. I fully expected it would have to be sent away. Not only did they repair it in shop they did it right then. I can’t even tell where the repair was done. In addition, while I was prepared to pay they did it at no charge. By 10:10 I was leaving with my bracelet on my wrist and a smile on my face. I first met them when I inquired about selling a watch. While they didn't end up being able to help me, they took the time to meet with me and explain things in detail. When I needed the battery changed on the watch, I gave them my business rather than my previous shop. It turns out they were authorized to change the battery in-house, thus saving me the cost of sending it away. So I bought an estate ring with the money I saved ????. I gave her a budget and she hand picked a number of items for me to look at. In the end, I walked out with a high quality piece that looked great. I dropped in to get my ring cleaned, the sales lady told me that I was missing a claw, so she recommended that I get it checked out by the goldsmith as it was only $25 to replace the one claw... two weeks later I had to call them about it (apparently they had called once but there had been no answer), and I was quoted well over $200 for replating, removing and replacing all the stones (as they can't take heat) - which I was expected to pay for, and replacing ALL of the claws in case the goldsmith broke them while removing stones.... needless to say, I did not get anything done with this jeweler, and am disappointed that they tried to jack the cost up like that, especially considering the wonderful reviews I have been given by people I knew who have used them

I had a medic alert bracelet clasp break. Bateman was able to fix it and get it back to me in under 48 hours, which was amazing! I didn't want to be walking around without it for too long. So grateful for their willingness to help!

Friendly staff, however I took my engagement ring in to be resized and was told they could and given a day it should be done. A day before it was supposed to be completed I got a call that the goldsmith had looked at it and that all the stones required new claws or else all the stones would fall out on the first wear if it were only resized. So a $50 resize (a small price increase from the website that hadn't been updated online) turned into almost a $400 job. I took it to three other jewelry stores in town and all said the claws looked in great condition. I finally took it to Heinrich's in Centre Mall and have been wearing it since with no issues, and had it fixed at a reasonable price. Friendly staff, but I won't be bringing my jewelry back again.
