We came to Collins last minute (less than two weeks to spare!) for formal wear for a wedding and I cannot stress how incredible the staff were to us! Kelsey and Yohanna were so knowledgeable and patient with us, and continued to be nothing but professional even though we changed our minds a few times about what we wanted. We wound up renting a gorgeous tux and bought a pair of cufflinks (Deadpool!) and a few other things (shirt sets, jeans). The quality of their inventory is excellent, much better than anywhere else we looked in Barrie. I would absolutely recommend Collins to anybody that needs a suit, or any other men's wear for that matter! Ask for Kelsey or Yohanna and you'll be happy you did!

I left getting my grooms and I set up until the last minute. The staff at Collins totally put me at ease, their class and selection far exceeded any expectations. I would go out of my way to recommend Collins Formal Wear to anyone wanting to look their best!

CrossFit Exhilarate

Definitely will not come highly recommended by me. The bride/groom had myself (the bestman) and groomsmen in to get fitted for our gear. I thought it was odd when my package specifically said not to include a shirt. I notified the bride/groom afterwards, and they said that must be a mistake - to which it was and I had to return back to the Barrie Collins again for fitment on that and to add it to my rental order. I put on a shirt, get sized for it and notice the colour of shirt input on the order is "white", when I know the bride/groom have specified grey. I notify Collins and explain what the colours are to be, and contact the bride/groom who tell me to show them the picture of how the wedding party colours are supposed to be (a stock image of another wedding that they have requested be EXACTLY replicated). I have Collins email the bride and groom to get the picture RE-sent (it had been sent previously, and one of the reasons Collins was chosen - as they agreed they could replicate it). Fast forward to the WEEK OF the wedding, and I go to pick up my suit. 0 pieces of the suit are correct. The pants and vest are different colours of each other, and not in the right shade of grey, a white shirt has been supplied, and a bow-tie was charged to my account (despite not requiring one, and also being the wrong colour ; The bride/groom bought the wedding party our bowties as part of the gifts). This is Wednesday, and the wedding is Saturday. I was not notified the suit was in, I had decided to go on Wednesday because I wanted to try to give ample time for corrections (if they needed it), as we had the other groomsmen travelling from out of province, and out of city to get it the night BEFORE the wedding. I was told it would be corrected and items would be overnighted and available on Thursday. The bride and the groom BOTH called in to explain as I notified them of the issues. I once again clarified what each individual needed, who had what colours, etc. I was assured it would all be corrected and not to worry, and to let the bridge/groom not to worry. Thursday, I again travel to Barrie to check the suit out and make sure it is correct (I am in Orillia, and work 16 hours a day as a business owner myself, and have a hard time getting away from work to run errands like this). The suit is not in. Friday is the day we can pick up our suits, and really if anything is wrong at this point, we can't change it. One of the groomsmen had to pick up the suits (including mine) on the Friday as I had to work due to taking too much time off on the Wed/Thurs with going down to Barrie and getting the suits. He advises me none of them are ready for pick up (they all have white shirts still, wrong sizes of shirts for some, etc... but is receiving assistance in getting it corrected before leaving the store). The morning of the wedding, we all have arrived (from out of province, out of city) and are helping with the morning set up - and opt to try out suits on to ensure they're correct. They have at least supplied the correct colours for shirts (grey now), and each individual received the correct colours in their pants/vest - but we everyone was charged for a bow tie and cuff links (which we did not require or request), and the shirt sizes were incorrect. I had a shirt that appeared to be for someone 10 sizes larger (we had to have the mother of the groom sew the back in temporarily for it to not look like a bag of wrinkles on me). The other groomsmen were all a size or 2 too small. There was no acceptance of wrong doing, no corrective measures attempted to remedy the situation, and upon bringing the suit back, it was shrugged off as no big deal. Not recommended to anyone.

I thought the collins in the barrie location was the problem. However it is collins in general from what I can see. I ordered cufflinks for the dads. I was told know more than 2 weeks. I waited 4 before calling to find out the order was not put through. Call 2 weeks later. Order was not put through even though I spoke with the manager and told her about the last time I ordered. Finally ordered a last time cause at this point it was too close to the wedding to order online. And they only ordered the one pair!!!! Had to purchase the other pair somewhere else cause I had know faith left in the barrie collins. As well as the fact that we had all the tuxes sized and ordered at the barrie location but sent to Hamilton so we could be assured nothing would go wrong. Sizes were put in wrong names were wrong and the failed to actually put an order through on one of the tuxedos. If I had not of called to confirm my order I would have been short a tux. The Hamilton location was no better. We had questions and things were wrong the guy we dealt with gave attitude to my then fiance. The whole party left wondering why he was so rude for asking simple questions. Will not use again. And will be telling everyone of my experiences with the shops. It would have been fine if it were an isolated Incident. Things happen. However the tux patr I've heard is the most stress free. However I called at least 15 to 20 times between the 2 locations with something being wrong.

The super helpful and friendly staff took care of my husband and his groomsmen with rentals for our wedding this past August. We recently came back to buy a suit. They were amazing as always. We went in and talk to them about what we wanted. We came back for a second appointment they had ordered something in that they thought we'd liked and it was perfect. My husband absolutely loves his new suit. We will definitely recommend Collins to anybody who needs a suit. We will definitely come back for our suit needs.

Came in to purchase a suit for myself a little while ago and was very impressed. Store is bright, staff was friendly and the products are excellent quality. The range of rental items are all very well made and there are plenty of discounts to take advantage of. The manager Kelsey was willing to cut an excellent deal with me (she threw in a shirt set free with my purchase.) - The staff seem to genuinely care about their clients, which is something I have found lacking at some other locations I looked at. I'll be returning here anytime I need formal wear in the future, and I strongly recommend Collins to everyone I know.

Really disappointed in their lack of customer service. we booked A day and time for suit fitting, showed up to get suits fitted and they were extremely busy and left us waiting. Through the whole fitting process I felt like they were disorganized. It’s now been a month that I have been trying to get a hold of someone, I’ve called at least 6 times and no one could help me but they said someone who could help me would call me and I have yet to get a call.

It's under NEW Management/owner: We we in for suit rentals for our wedding. Received amazing customer service.Brent & Nemeses are absolutely great help. I read all the old reviews and wasn't expecting much when I walked in since this is the closest Collins to us I decided to give it shot. I am so happy we did! They were able to help us even more than we expected giving us professional advice & asking about our wedding so they have a better idea on how to best help us. We didn't feel pressured and they just wanted to make sure we had all our questions answered & got exactly what we wanted. This is why we will be coming back with our entire wedding party.

tl:dr - go to Nemeses to be fit perfect Amazing experience, Nemeses fit me perfect for my wedding, and in a hurry. I think I spent a total of 20 minutes being fit and choosing options. And she was able to get the suit ordered and altered with ten business days before the wedding. The customer service was great, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I loved what I wore, and felt cared for by Nemeses, who stayed on top of the suit to make sure it was ready. And the suit was so nice, I'll be returning to buy one, specifically from Nemeses.

So this review pertains more to the Barrie location, not Collins overall. I was scheduled for an appointment to get some suit measurements done for the groomsmen in my wedding party and the person who was suppose to be there for the appointment failed to show. A few days before, I had called to change the appointment time, so all the groomsmen could get there in time, and the lady on the phone said ok no problem. But I guess that conversation wasn’t important, as nobody showed up and we wasted our time. So basically, if you say your going to be there for an appointment, then back up what you say. I get things can come up (family emergencies, etc.), but at least have the decency to communicate that to your clients if you can’t make an appointment. As I said, this isn’t a bashing of every Collins location. If you want a better customer service experience, then go to the one in Kitchener and ask for Joe, who actually makes the effort for his clients. Thanks for nothing Collins Barrie!

Buyer Beware!!! Came here for a tux for my wedding, was sized and measured two weeks prior. The day came and the sizes they had for me were all wrong! The woman working there had to scramble and grab items off the shelf which fit better but still not properly and the wrong colours. They had to get an emergency tailor to do last minute alterations! Cudos to her, but it should have been figured out from the get go. I also paid a premium rental price to get the higher quality suit. No offer of a discount or refund to make things right either. Overall, go somewhere else if looking good is at all important because Collins hasn't figured that out yet.

Seriously so dissapointed and extremely frustrated! My husband and I came into the store 2 weeks ago and purchased a brand new suit. They promised the alterations would be finished with enough time to try on and make sure everything was ok and on time for our event, a huge family wedding (pants hemmed and the back of the pants taken out). I called a week before and they said it wasn't back yet because their tailor was really busy.. Ok no problem. They then said it would take a few more days (3 days before our event). Ok no problem. They said they would call when it was ready. No call. Called 2 days before, still not there and they never called me. Called the day before as I was on my way to the store and she said she thought it was there... Hmmm ok. I got to the store and she said everything was in the bag and all of the alterations were finished. My husband got home from work at 9:00pm and tried the suit on. The hem looks ridiculous like a child did it and they didn't take out the back of the pants AT ALL. We are now stuck the night before the wedding, we habe to leave at 7am and his pants are so tight that he can't even sit. He has no other suit to wear and we are stuck. After spending almost two hours in the store, spending close to $500.00, and hearing it would be ready with enough time for him to try it on it wasn't. WE WILL NEVER EVER USE COLLINS AGAIN. I guess we will be shopping at Moores for all of my husband's future suits. Thank you for ruining our event and leaving us stuck.

My boyfriend and I came into the store to buy a suit for my cousins wedding and the 2 ladies working were really helpful. I was happy with how quick the whole experience was since we had a tight schedule (I still had go buy a dress that day too). They even hemmed his pants while we waited. Save your time and money they just don't care about their customers. Their sub par suits and shoes ruined my 1 special day .. falling apart !! Shoes loosing the soles .. buttons falling off .. was disgusting . .. and to add to the insult they didn't care enough to even make it right with me or the decency to even return a call. My fiancee found the owner Brent to be very nice to deal with as her father bought a suit from the Clothing guy side of this 2 sided business. I would not recommend Collins Formal Wear. I put a deposit down on an overpriced suit rental along with several fellow groomsman for a wedding, with the intention of paying the balance on the day of pickup. This establishment not only got our suit order wrong, but after several attempts at pickup we received our suit rentals 2 hours before the ceremony. Upon pickup of my suit rental, I was told that I was receiving a marginal credit back to my credit card as compensation for the list of mistakes made by Collins. Once I received the credit I left to attend the wedding and later returning my suit. 5 months later, I receive a call from Collins explaining that I owed money on the suit that was rented, expecting me to pay a balance after I was given money back for the suit in a previous month. I found this poor business sense confusing after the many extensive errors from Collins that caused an immense amount of stress on what should be the happiest day of my friend's lives. The staff member of Collins concluded the phone call saying they were going to go after the father of the groom for payment which is petty and an embarrassment to the establishment. The poor customer service, quality, price and administration of Collins should be avoided by anyone looking to purchase/rent formal wear.

I opted to rent suits from Collins Formal Wear/The Cothing Guy in Barrie for my wedding, and my wife and I are so glad that I did! The customer service from Nemisis Wickie and Brent Smith was truly top notch, and really put us at ease knowing all the suit details were looked after for our big day. They went above and beyond to make sure all of my groomsmen were comfortable in their suits, and were an absolute pleasure to deal with!!

My Fiance and I came into Collins to purchase a suit for our wedding. The wedding was very small, and we had no groomsmen so we just needed to get my husband a suit for our magical day. Johanna and Nemesis were there and helped us pick a couple options and ordered one in for us in Chris' size. The suit came in two weeks later like they promised it would, and Chris and I changed our minds on what we wanted for him. The girls were so understanding and when I kept apologizing for not loving the specific suit anymore, they kept ensuring that it was not a big deal and they would gladly help us find the perfect one for the wedding, which was at that time now 6 weeks away. Together, the four of us flipped through countless catalogs and we ended up finding one that was already in their showroom and on the best note yet: IT WAS ON CLEARANCE!!!! heck ya! They had the alterations done in two days from when we found it in the store, and we still had 5 weeks before the wedding. I would highly recommend that you do all the important stuff for your wedding day with plenty of spare time so that you can play around with all your ideas. I still feel bad about how last minute we left it, but thank goodness for this store and its employees.
